5 stars all day everyday. Dads in town and this is our first stop every morning. Get your danish while you wait, sit down and enjoy. We love the sitting area, it's really good people watching. Enjoy the hot bar if it's ready or the soup bar. You get a roll and butter with each cup you purchase. My favorite is the unstuffed cabbage roll soup. Killer soup with a little kick. I walk here every day after school and get a monster or a hot chocolate. The food is pretty good. I ordered a cheese danish which was given to me cold, and if asked if they can heat it up for me I was told "there is a microwave on your left for you to heat it up" I thought heating up pastries is a service they provide ? This Kaladi is located in the New Sagaya midtown market on the corner of 36th and Old Seward. It's more of a grab and go kind of place than a place to sit down and enjoy your coffee. It does, however, have the advantage of being next to the L'Aroma bakery and deli and the New Sagaya hot food bars, so it's a good place to pick up lunch as well as a cup of coffee. There is cafeteria-style seating but it gets packed during peak lunch hours. Staff are friendly and the coffee is your typical Kaladi coffee. Unlike many Alaska residents I don't think Kaladi is the best coffee ever, or even in town for that matter, but if you enjoy Kaladi coffee this is a good place to get some. One suggestion: The baristas should take down names for drinks as many other coffee shops do. Sometimes people order similar drinks and they get mixed up, especially if one person isn't waiting right by the counter. Last time I came here I accidentally took someone else's drink because I didn't know we had ordered the same thing. I felt bad since the other customer ordered before I did. This can be easily avoided so not sure why Kaladi in general doesn't take customer names. read more

In this little market there is a little coffee place with the normal coffee drinks, and some pastry items. But the grocery store itself sells sandwiches and all sorts of other food items. I just got a cappuccino with the coco nut flavor and one extra shot of espresso. I like coffee flavor more than sweet flavor flavor, and I'd say since being in Alaska, I get "sweet" syrup flavor 83% of the time. My coffee tastes like coffee! Not bitter burnt shite coffee, creamy, rich, flavorful coffee. The coffee is the star of the beverage today, not the syrup. Which is what I am on a never ending quest for. Coffee flavor with a hint of syrup flavor. Not warm milk flavor. I am SUPER loving this cup of cappuccino today. I'm going to go ahead and say it's probably the best cup of coffee I'd had since arriving in Alaska. I would definitely recommend the coffee and would definitely come back if I'm in Anchorage again. Interesting to hear what the locals in Anchorage like about their favorite joe, Got off the plane and asked around and all of them say "Kaladi" - Ventured out to seek Kaladi and was not disappointed. As expected - super long lines and smiles on everyone faces especially mines. I ordered my usual 20 oz Americano and to my surprise I got four shots of expresso compared to three from Starbucks. The barista was super friendly and very knowledgeable of all their blends (16 different kinds). Ended up drinking a variety of brews that day and so far my expectation of Kaladi is high and would venture back to them when in Anchorage again. read more

There is so much to love about Kaladi Bro Coffee. I brought back 4lbs to the lower 48 and enjoyed every cup. Their coffee is appropriately price, strong, not bitter and had a great variety. They also served pastries, but I didnt go there for that. The KB coffee shops I visited weren't the cleanest or the trendiest. That was okay by me since its good coffee served by good people. The sandwiches and paninis here are delicious! The spicy chipotle chicken is really spicy (the right amount of hot) and the green chile chicken pesto is so good, we got it both times that we visited this cafe! The service is a bit slow, but super friendly and the nice people behind the counter are obviously hard at work. One well intentioned suggestion for the cafe - (1) Please take down customer names and call them out when the orders are ready. Just calling out the sandwich name does not help, as many people order the same thing and sometimes somebody who just ordered and sat down gets to grab the sandwich away from somebody who has been waiting for 15mins. Kaladi brothers is by far the best coffee I have had in my first trip back home to Alaska, as well in California and Nevada. I will go as far to say the coffee at Kaladi is comparable to that of Europe. Their coffee is smooth, rich, and complex. It goes down very well with every sip. Love this Kaladi's! We go here almost every Sunday after working out at the Alaska club. I always order either the Zen Chai Tea Latte, or a Nonfat mocha, xtra hot, with only 2 shots, heavy (no foam), and no whip. They are always consistently good. So many coffee places can't seem to get it right from day to day, but this place the baristas have it going on! It is my favorite one out of all the Kaladi's. Plus with the addtional La Roma food and offereings it is the perfect, after workout, recovery spot. read more

Visiting Anchorage from the lower 48, I walked here from my hotel, crossing my fingers as I crossed the streets that it would be good. I was not disappointed. I always get a small nonfat latte and this one was impressive! The flavor of the coffee was complex yet smooth. I might just need to do a little shopping in the market and then try the "Kaladi." This local chain was for many years my only resource for espresso. I resisted the incoming big multi-national chain and didn't frequent other espresso joynts. The main reason. The Trieste blend of espresso (which is their on tap espresso blend and also to be bought by the bag, was not to be found better anywhere else. I would fly Outside with several bags of it. I would send it Outside. I would take it up North to the hinterland. But then. For some reason the Trieste blend was changed. It now tasted bitter and more like their competitors. The flavor of coffee to the taste buds is no doubt a genetic matter. I've crossed swords with others on the matter of bitter espresso. But Kaladi Trieste went from 'chocolaty' to 'bitter' and I haven't noticed it going back to the way it was. Then I noticed other things. The comparative lack of amenities such as nutmeg and other flavorings. The slow wifi. The lack of freshness in the baked goods in some locations. Local it may be. But the best it ain't no more.
