Ok... 9 years ago I was not a fan... time to update my review! I LOVE that when I walk in, I know all the faces of the Baristas. There have been times that when I go to order, they already have my drink made while I was standing in line! This generation of baristas is stellar! They ask me about my weekend, they ask about my son and my husband, they're kind and efficient. The reason I decided to try this location again was because I was tired of unpredictable opening times of other locations on my way to work. I can always depend on getting coffee here! They have smooth coffee with just the right amount of sweetness. My go to is the Americano with 1/2 sweet natural vanilla. They have clean restrooms plus a meeting space that can be reserved. read more

They have locations around town and they were all solid. Drinks are well crafted and the prices excellent. First time in Alaska and first stop on this trip. I'm visiting for work and staying with someone who is well-versed in good spots in Anchorage, AK. Before kicking off our work day, straight from the plane, we stopped by for some coffee and burritos. Everything was extremely delicious. I got a cappuccino (12oz) and it tasted phenomenal. I was also highly impressed by their decor and branding. I was curious why the name Kaladi and did a little googling and learned it comes from the Kaladi Coffee Goat - cool. First oat latte after a long travel day to Anchorage and in normal Candace fashion would my first stop be anything other than a coffee shop? I think not. Service was very friendly and a nice warm drink was appreciated since I haven't been in cold weather in quite some time. I'd recommend KBC, I think it's pretty popular throughout this area but most all little coffee shops were fine. Well it's a cute coffee shop, but the latte is watery. Having their famous Kaladi Latte at their flagship store I expected so much better. Also Kaladi Coffee is just vanilla flavored mocha, so if you can make a decent latte, you should be able to make this too. read more

In Anchorage with 12 degree weather tends to send me towards any place that offers hot drinks. I found this on Yelp! as it was sort of close to my hotel and slid my way there on Anchorage's barely plowed roads. It's a nice large set up. There's seating in two areas and a semi-private room, so it's good for groups. They offer burritos, sandwiches, pastries, and a number of hot coffee and tea drinks. I ordered a veggie breakfast burrito and some tea and it was all very inexpensive (for Anchorage), tasty, and filling. I visited this café twice in my three days in Anchorage, and if I am ever back, will visit again. read more

Okay, came into meet a new Financial Services client. I can't blame them for not having Stevia yet, Steam Dot doesn't either. I love their Lattes. Also when you see Kona beans from the select farms they get once in a while I buy a bag to grind and make at home. But I'll only give a place 4+ stars when the start carrying Stevia. It's been a natural sweetener used in China for 900 years. The sugar lobby has been fighting Stevia leaf for years. One of the better Kaladi locations overall. Coffee and espresso drinks are consistently good. There's some pastries and food options like salad and sandwiches, but not as many as some other Kaladi locations. The seating area is the main reason this location stands out from others. It's cozy with a sufficient amount of seating area and windows. I like the art by local artists featured on the side by the register. I wish there were a few more chairs though. Parking can be a pain since this location is in a strip mall with a narrow parking lot. Overall I'd say this is my second favorite Kaladi location, with the one on east Tudor being my favorite. However this is the location closest to where I live so this is my spot of choice when I want to read with a cup of coffee on a relaxed weekend. read more

I came down here to chill out for a couple of hours and not have to worry about school studies today this sunny afternoon. This Kaladi's location is one of my favorites on the corner of Raspberry Rd. and Jewel Lake Rd. in a small business strip across from Tastee-Freez. The seating area is by far one of the largest you will ever find in a coffee shop here in Anchorage. There are paintings by local artists for sale on one side of the café and replicas of famous paintings like the Mona Lisa and others on the opposite walls. The employees here are always friendly and do an awesome job making espresso drinks. The Wi-Fi has improved since my last visit here with a faster service and a secure WPA2 connection to keep other users from accessing your laptop. I decided to get a large Mocha Frappe to complement the warm weather outside. This location is also one of two Kaladi's I've been to that makes pour-over blends. My preferred choices are usually the Mexico and the Congo Blends. The wait can be several minutes for this type of drink, but it is well worth it with a smooth and flavorful taste as well as a rich aroma that clings to your shirt afterwards. This is also one of the few locations that offers different soup and sandwich specials every weekday. My previous visit, I had their chicken wild rice soup with two slices of sourdough bread. The soup was hearty and delicious and the larger size is enough for a meal. The main attraction of course are their coffee beans from various countries as well as their specialty blend coffees like the Trieste which is Kaladi's signature blend since day one and their Organic Red Goat. Some of the different coffee beans I've seen that they sell from time to time are their Braund Farms Kona blend which is cultivated right next to Hualailai Volcano on the big island of Hawaii, the Guatemala Huehuetenango Highland Coffee Presidium (medium to dark roast with a syrupy sweet raisin flavor), the Kenya Ngutu (one of the strongest dark roasts with a bold taste and my favorite blend to bring me back from the dead in the morning), and the Mexico San Cristobal Nayarita Natural (well-balanced medium roast with a nutty flavor and chocolate tones, my personal choice for a pour-over blend). This cafe is one of the best spots in town to spend an afternoon studying, doing work, or just to relax and read. The place is always filled with a lot of customers, but you will never have any trouble finding a good table to sit at. Outlets are plentiful on every side for your laptop or portable device and in my opinion, this would be another good place for a UYE to meet other Yelp reviewers in person. This is the only coffee shop in the Jewel Lake Area not counting the drive-thru stands down the road. This is definitely a coffee shop with a good amount of seating space in a town that's full of tiny, cramped cafes. read more

This is a pretty great location; quite comfortable and quick service. I like the ambiance, however I generally take my coffee to go. I have sat with friends and it was pleasant. I have found some less than mediocre customer service a few times, almonds feeling as though I was a bother for ordering my coffee. Maybe I'm getting mine before they've had theirs?!? This seems to be the best coffee in town as it is very busy in the morning, but the baristas are pretty quick. Speaking of the Baristas, they aren't quite friendly and perky in the morning -- but if that means the coffee stays of quality I'll take it. The coffee is very good and I can see why this place is well patronized. I got the 12oz Kaladi w/ Coconut Milk (for $5) and it is exceptional coffee. It needs no sweetener and the flavor is slightly robust. There are loads of seating from leather chairs to, bench seating, to couple seating areas. The ambience is mellow, with the sounds of classic & alternative rock music playing in the background. A great place to read the paper or get of the house to get some work done. read more

I love local owned chains and kaladi bro's is one of my favorite. Their coffee always tastes very fresh and delicious. I'm typically not a big fan of burnt-tasting coffee like starbucks (although I still go there for convenience and cold drinks) so a heaven americano from kaladi's gets my day started! Heaven is kaladi's special blend of chocolate, vanilla and coconut syrup. As far as this location kaladi's, I like jewel lake location because it's spacious and CLEAN. definitely has that "rustic" look and they've done a great job decorating this place. Service has always been pretty good every time I've been here. Very friendly and knowledgeable with their products. I love their tumblers and etc! :) would recommend this coffee shop! read more

Kaladi Brothers- It's a jewel! Stopped in at Kaladi Brothers on Jewel Lake to chill and do some work online with a latte. It's super comfortable and will be a regular hang out in Anchorage for me! On the outside- small and unassuming location in a strip mall. Parking can be a bit tight, but there's more shared business parking about 50 yds away in the long parking lot. On the inside- Wow! They really did a lot to create a spacious yet cozy feel. The inside is a lot bigger than what the outside would have you believe! Lots of warm colors, plenty of tables and chairs- and bonus nooks and "reading room" sitting areas for enhanced intimacy and privacy. The space welcomes you in to relax alone or with friends and family. It's a chill place to chill! Love that free WiFi too! Service- Super awesome! The barista was super warm and welcoming and struck up a convo without being nosy. Perfect balance and what I think a coffee shop should be! Super attentive and actually made you feel like she was the owner because of the way she wanted me to feel at home. Brothers- hang onto this one, she is good for your business! Coffee- I had a breve latte. It was rich and dark and smokey, tempered with the sweetness of heavy cream and airy foam topping. Perfect cup! Food- while I didn't have anything to eat, Kaladi had a beautiful display of pastries in a display cabinet, and other items to nosh on. I'll have to try some grubs on my next visit. After looking for a place that was open in west Anchorage near the airport, thankfully the Yelp search directed us here. I guess people aren't big on coffee in Anchorage, it was a drive and this place was pretty dead on a Sunday afternoon. Although strip-malty on the outside, the inside was a warm, red glow with a lot of various sitting rooms with outlets and a fantastic place to read, study, and get caught up with the computer. Coffee was excellent and they had some nice pastries as well. I would love a place like this in downtown Chicago, we spend a few hours and it was calming. read more

I don't know why I keep having bad luck here and I don't know why I keep coming back. I ordered a quad shot kaladi latte and when I got it I realized they didn't add any syrup. Seems like an easy fix just add syrup. Instead they dumped it out and remade it. This time forgetting the espresso. I pointed it out to them. Once again, easy fix right? Just add the shots. Instead they dumped it out. The third time it was a quad shot and it did have syrup. But it wasn't the right flavor. I had no idea this was a chain until later on in our Alaska trip. We went to this location a few times, and its ambience felt like a family-owned coffee shop. I got the mocha, which was really good. My bf got the Kaladi, which is a latte with their Kaladi flavors (not sure what it is, the barista didn't explain very well), and that tasted like a sweeter coffee which he likes. They also have quick breakfast options: breakfast burrito, pastries, muffins, etc. that they can heat up for you. I enjoyed the sausage biscuit sandwich, and got it 2 days in a row. read more

This review has nothing to do with the staffs friendliness or professionalism when being served but as a general complaint. At least once a week if not more I go into this location on the way to work to pick up my lunch for the past month or so and have been told the soup has not been started. Now that we are well on our way to winter it puzzles me. The first time was a Friday and I was told they don't make it on weekends so it was odd that a Friday they had none . It doesn't seem to matter what day of the week I go in or time always late morning early afternoon. What is the point t of having it offered if it is never available?! Very disappointed. read more

What can I say other than it's some pretty damn good coffee. In comparison to Starbucks, there is none. I had their Americano, and was wowed off the first sip. An 8oz-er is all I needed, and it was less than $3! I forgot what my fiance had, but hers was good as well. She has the trieste blend and she didn't have to add much creamer or sugar. Wait, that's if she did at all...I don't remember. Anyways. I'm glad there's more Kaladi's out here in Anchorage than Starbucks, at least from what I've seen, and that there's one short distance from my place. Jewel Lake Kaladi Bros has talented baristas. Most recently, I order a half-cafe 2% latte, needless to say, the latte was perfect.

I have grown up loving their coffee and normally it is a fun place to hang out and get school work done. Their coffee is still really good, but they could work on their customer service. I walked in and the man at the register looked at me and when I was about five steps from the counter he walked to the back. It was awkward and then I was left waiting at the register. It wouldn't have been that big of a problem except that he walked from the back, saw that I was still at the register and then turned around and walked to the back again. Finally another lady took my order, but the whole ordeal left me wanting that friendly Alaskan experience that I have received in the past. read more

I love everything about this place. The vanilla lattes are the best. The pastries are also good. The cafe is large and wooden and has a rustic Alaskan vibe. It's a great place to chat and write.
