I had the Pad Krapoa Kai Dow. If I was giving this place a rating just on the food, I would have to give it 3 stars. My dinner was not as flavorful as I expect when eating this dish. I was also told that there are 5 spice levels...I asked for a 4/5 and it felt more like a 2 to me. With that being said, I can never really dislike Thai food as long as it still tastes like Thai food haha. In terms of the overall place and personality of the restaurant I would definitely be curious enough to come back for drinks. I sat in the downstairs area and did not check out the bar upstairs, but I really liked what I got of the vibes downstairs. A lot of people seemed like they were there for a fun night out and the hip hop music was something I haven't seen before at a Thai place. So at first, this seems like a great fun place to be at. Don't ever plan on going to the bathroom, it tends to be a waiting period of 15 minutes or more. And the later you arrive, it gets harder to find a stall as libations begin to take over. The food however I experienced today was great. Lots of flavors from all over. Especially loved the crisply fried chicken skin. I believe they are he only ones to do this. The place gets packed so get here earlier to avoid the long lines! I love this place! This is one of my go tos in Capitol Hill. The atmosphere and music is nice. They have a good amount of space so wait time is usually pretty short, which is especially great for bigger parties. My favorite dish is definitely the Roti. It's different from other Rotis that I've tried. Sugar Hill's is a bit chewier(I thought it had a slight Mocha texture which was delicious). We also got the Khao Noi and Pad Thai. You could choose a spiciness level of 1-5. I'm not the best with spice so a 2 was good for me. I tried a 3 and it was a bit too spicy for me. For dessert we got the sticky Mango Sticky Rice. The mango was a bit sour, but it could just be that it's out of season. Our waiter was incredibly nice. Without asking, she split the bill for my party and was able to remember everyone's orders to do so. Overall great place to dine at! read more

Was recommended this place by a pal who had gone a couple times in the evening and absolutely adored it...our afternoon experience was slightly disappointing but I will give it another try in the evening! The building was freezing which may of contributed to the cold sticky rice :/ the mangos were fresh and they give you a large serving for an affordable price but the rice was pretty hard and we ended up doing take away so we could warm it up later! The fresh rolls were great and the peanut sauce was stellar way more flavor than some other peanut sauces I've had! I had high hopes for this place. Nice decor. Not many people. I sat at the bar. Interesting menu. I had a list of items I was going to order. Started with the wings. 4 wings for $6 at happy hour. Great taste. Light and crispy. Halfway through the first wing I looked at it and it was pink so I was a bit wary. I asked if it was fully cooked and the guy said it was. Against my instinct, I kept eating. They have a nice soy sauce that goes with them. I got to the last wing and noticed a pool of pink liquid on the plate. I stopped eating because the wing was raw. I told the server that I wasn't comfortable eating it because it looked raw. He said it's fully cooked. That's not an explanation I needed. He didn't take it off my bill so I paid and left. Take a look at the picture and decide if you would eat this. I'm hoping I don't get sick. I see on yelp that someone else had the same experience. There was very ambient purple and red lighting in the bar which really gave off the younger capitol hill crowd vibe. There was also a live DJ coming in at 10 which was so excited to witness is this close knit restaurant. The food was to die for we got the chicken pad thai and a starter which was enough for my boyfriend and I to share. we have a decent spice tolerance and got 3 for all of our spice levels and it was pretty spicy we were downing water constantly so be conscious of that when they ask you what level you want for spiciness. Amazing atmosphere, good drinks, quite good food. This is a really sweet hip hop bar that doubles as a Thai restaurant. They have all the Thai classics as well as khao man gai which is a unique dish that's sometimes called Hainese chicken rice. Great meal for the summer especially (whenever that comes around). I think that's their house speciality actually! It's a nice, light meal. Where it falls down slightly for me is three things: they charge extra for takeout, which is completely nonstandard; several times when I've ordered, they've used the wrong noodles for pad thai, using wide noodles instead of pad Thai noodles which to me ruin the dish; and the price, which is much higher than other Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. All and all, definitely worth checking out and seeing if it's for you. read more

First time visiting this place so I can't comment on what the dine-in experience was like prior to COVID safety measures being implemented, but we tried the 50/50 (half poached + half fried chicken combo with rice) and it was delicious! It comes with a side of sauces and there was a spicy brown one (I think it's peanut sauce? Not sure) that I could've eaten a whole bowl of. The clear soup that came with the rice was great too. Portions were a bit on the smaller side but still worth it if you're craving good chicken rice. Sugar Hill's version is MUCH better than that famous chicken rice food truck in Portland, that's for sure! read more
