We came here after walking around town apt hunting with our dog. We tried a few other restaurants with outdoor decks and were told dogs weren't allowed. Sugar Hill allowed our pup on the upstairs deck. This turned out to be one of the best experiences we've had. We weren't expecting much as we were the only outdoors customers. We thought the service would be slower. However the waiter came very quickly with water. We ordered a round of beer and he can snack promptly with drinks for us and water for our pup!! He continued to be super attentive to us and our dog throughout our visit. Food: 50/50- boiled chicken and fried chicken on rice with veggies and dipping sauces. Came with winter melon soup. I LOVE wintermelon soup and the broth was porky and delicious. Pork skewers : amazing sauce and very tender skewers. Experience : the best. Our waiter came with our food and a separate bowl of boiled white chicken meat for our pup. This is the best treatment of our dog I've seen ever. EVER. He also filled the pups water frequently along with ours. He checked in frequently and made surr we were okay. Also, he left a menu with us in case we needed it after our first round of orders. My bf was elated by this as he always asks to keep a menu in case. This was offered to him and he was so happy. Overall experience: AMAZING. The menu is limited and food unique but not super out there. However the service was FANTASTIC. At the end of the day, it's the overall experience. Food can be amazing with poor service, which ruins the overall experience. This place was chock full of good service and good food. We'll be back for sure. read more

This is basically the new 95 Slide, but shhhh don't tell the ratchets about it. There's surrounding street parking or you might have better luck just parking in Central's garage parking lot a couple blocks over. I guess this place is a Thai restaurant by day and club/bar/lounge by night, just like how 95 Slide was a sports bar by day and dance club by night. Music was great, nothing screams a good dancing time than good hip hop music to go with it. The venue has 2 floor with a balcony on the top floor that is easy to get in & out of if you wanted fresh air for a minute. There's a 5 dollar cover charge on Saturdays, the venue isn't too big so there might be a bit of a wait in line if you come late and they reach max capacity. Staff was friendly, they don't act like they hate their life for having to work while people are out having fun. Great drinks! Came here with friends fairly early in the night and it wasn't too busy, but it did pick up later in the night. The music was awesome (all classic hip hop) and their signature cocktails were great. My friend got a Thai iced tea flavoured cocktail that was delicious! i don't come here on clubbing nights... but i do enjoy a wednesday or thursday night. I especially like it when DJ Famous is spinning. There's just something so chill about this place that I enjoy. it's spacious to an extent but still leaves you feeling in an intimate space. The room to the right with 1000s of vinyls is my favorite room as I love vinyls. I like the old school hip hop and r&b and some soul music playing over the speakers. drinks aren't ridiculously priced and the atmosphere is so laid back, i like it! The food is a thai/cambodian style foods, which I haven't had a chance to try beyond one or two dishes, nothing blew me away but they do occasionally host pop ups here and that's pretty cool! Definitely a nice spot to kick back and enjoy good music and drinks with on a weekday without having to deal with busy crowds. read more

This place is wayyyy better than what the average Yelp rating is. So underrated! Our friends recommended us to come here for a few drinks. The interior vibe is great for hip hop and rnb enthusiasts! A bunch of vinyls and good music playing for the music fans. The drinks exceeded my expectations heavily. The pandan drink was amazing, I never thought the flavor of Pandan could mix that well with a cocktail. The Jam on it drink had a good hint of rosemary. The wings tasted like salt and white pepper Thai wings with a spicy fish sauce. Overall a great experience and definitely exceeded all my expectations. Great service as well! Came in one day with friends and asked if there was a table up we could get, she said no so we stepped outside for a few minutes. One of my male friends went in to ask for a table and she said there was one open!! Rest of the service was good, music was great. It was around 9pm on a Friday. It was pretty empty, which I didn't mind at all because, as I have proven, I'm old. My friend and I had a couple of watered down $12 drinks at the bar, and the place slowly started filling up with well- intentioned male citizens, better known to each other as "brahs." This place is great as long as you don't make any jokes with the cashier lady inside. She will get extremely offended by the slightest of laughs and proceed to tell the bouncer to forcibly remove you from the venue. Laughing with friends is a sin when walking into this place. I guess when you have a big line of ppl waiting to get in, you get a power trip that you use on poor souls who just want to have a good night out. Caught me by surprise, but the khao mun gai tod (crispy chicken dish w/ wintermelon soup on the side) was really good! I also had the "You, me, & Hennessy" drink the last time I was here. It was quite strong. Got my money's worth for it. Me and my girls went on a friday night around 10:45 and there was a good amount of people there already. It started getting filled up shortly after. Not sure if there was a cover charge, but we got in for free (lol). Fairly small place but there's good music and good vibes forsure! The good thing is it appeared to not be super packed (like sardine packed) so there's room for dancing, and an outside balcony up top to get some air. Thai restaurant by day, night club by night? This set up does not seem super common. The old 95 Slide/HG/War Room (RIP) used to be a sports bar during the day time and a dance club at night, but I cannot think of any other clubs that moonlight as restaurants during the day time. Sugar Hill itself is pretty small. There's a downstairs lounge with a standing bar area on the left and a few tables on the right. Usually on the weekend, the upstairs is over-packed. The dance floor is on the left when you walk up the stairs, and the bar is on your right. You can hardly move around or find any space in this area, and getting to the dance floor can be a challenge. The drinks are about the same price as every other place, but the music is good, which makes it one of the few places we'll go to on Cap Hill. Maybe someday I'll come in for Thai food. read more

Meh - have had much better food. Not great chicken with rice is a simple description. Ordered a plate of steamed chicken with rice (Khao Mun Gai) and one plate of the fried chicken with rice (Khao Mun Gai Tod). Former was more bland with different sauces and latter came with a sweet chilli sauce. It almost felt like a make-your-own-bite place. We also went there with Thai food expectation which is spicy n sweet sometimes....this was none....very bland compared to authentic thai food. This is probably one of the worst restaurant/bar/night clubs in Seattle. I was invited to this place for a birthday party over the weekend. At first glance, it seemed nice, but unfortunately the bouncers have a huge superiority complex. Long story short, my friends and I were causing, "problems" for talking loudly and attempting to smoke on the balcony. Yeah. Normal things you should be able to do at a bar, but not here. The smoking on the balcony, I get, but we just pulled out the e-cig, didnt even puff it. Bouncer yells at us. We apologize, and go outside. No issues, or so you would think. Again, at a normal place, but not here. Because that one small Infraction was immediately infused into the bouncers mind. Forever imprinted into his memory. We were instantly labeled, "troublemakers". Our second, and last infraction we committed was talking loudly on the balcony. Yeah, I know. We got a warning, but apparently we were still too loud, and then, that's all she wrote. From there on out we were unfortunate enough to get the full force of penis envy/testosterone fury from the 5 bouncers at the club. We got an escort to grab our things, close our tab, and get out. I understand the bouncers try to diffuse situations before they start. Could be that. It could be racial profiling to be honest. Whatever it was, it's not worth ever coming back again to find out. I urge you, just as I will urge all my friends to avoid this place. I love this little gem- I live a block away and already find myself coming frequently. I've only had their wintermelon soup ($5) and cocktails (variety, $10) and everything was delicious and carefully crafted. If An is working the bar- you're in luck! She's super friendly and crafts amazing drinks. My friends and I have been frequenting Sugarhill on the weekends for their night life! The upstairs turns into a lounge/music scene in the late evenings- mostly EDM or top40. It's been getting super packed on Fridays/Saturdays. They have a dj every single day which is mind blowing to me! They do charge a $5/cover on Saturday's only. Come for a snack, a drink, or a great time! read more

Came here for the first time on a Saturday night around 10:30 pm. Pros: 1. Dance floor upstairs (although a bit cramped) 2. Pretty good DJ--played popular hip-hop for the most part, which is ideal for dancing... clearly I enjoy dancing 3. They have individual bottles of Prosecco, meaning bubbly is always bubbly 4. Bouncers and bartenders were reasonably pleasant (although there's always room for improvement) 5. There are windows! I hate being in claustrophobic, humid dark areas. Understandable, right? Cons: 1. Waited about 20 minutes in the freezing cold to get in! The line moves incredibly slow and there was clearly a lot of room on the first floor... which I noticed thanks to those windows mentioned above. There is no option to pay more to get in. And my freezing butt will be more than willing to pay more to skip the dang line (FYI) 2. There is a $5 cover... not too bad but still, it's a cover 3. This is the big one. The crowd was very dorky. Just had lunch here with my coworker and I have to say that the 3 star average is about right. The dishes weren't bad, but nothing was amazing. We split the khao mun gai (steamed chicken), fried chicken wings, and chicken salad. This spot is located in the former Capitol Club location, a long-time staple of Seattle night life now converted to a trendy Asian food establishment. The chicken salad was pretty basic other than having chopped up green beans. The flavor was fine but again, nothing that blows your mind. It was generously topped with shredded steamed chicken. The fried chicken wings were just that. Chicken wings that were fried. No breading. The sauce that came with was pretty good and appeared fish sauce based. Not uncommon for Thai food. I was disappointed in the khao mun gai. Now, this is a very basic dish and, really, it's hard to go wrong here. Steam some chicken and throw it on rice, with optional and minuscule sides like a cucumber slice or two, and then add sauce. Ah, but here's the key. It must have the sauce. THE SAUCE. This is what makes or breaks khao mun gai. But here's the thing. There was no sauce here. None! A mere spattering of three condiments (minced garlic; what, I believe, is intended to replace the traditional sauce but came across as a thick mustard; and minced chili peppers) was all they brought. The thick mustard had the taste of the traditional sauce but there wasn't nearly enough and really should be runnier so it can soak the rice. The way this dish was intended to be served. I was so excited to try a new chicken and rice place in Seattle! I had the khao man gai (steamed chicken with rice) while my husband had the khao man gai tod (fried chicken with rice). We also shared the pork skewers. The pork skewers were amazing. They were so tender and flavorful. Apparently they are marinated overnight in coconut milk and massaged. They're extremely delicious! Unfortunately, my steamed chicken (I chose white meat) was just mush. It was either not fresh chicken or it was over steamed. The rice wasn't flavorful at all although there was some color to it. It's supposed to taste like it was cooked in chicken stock. They also don't give nearly enough of the ginger sauce. The accompanying wintermelon soup was tasty and refreshing. My husband's dish was way better. The fried chicken was very light, crispy, and perfectly flavored. The ambiance and decor is awesome. This place turns in to a little lounge/nightclub during the weekends. I came by with two of my friends, looking for a new place to hang out at on cap hill. Two of my friends play football for the Seattle Seahawks and so we are a little selective on places we go because we don't know what to expect sometimes, especially with the crowd. I must say, from the security guards to the bartenders to even management staff, we were treated with open arms and they made sure that we were comfortable and taken care of. There was one security guard who kept his eye on us and made sure we were ok or that we had space if we needed it. We even made a second visit on a celebration night when we had guests in town. The security guards in the front let us park my friend's Rolls Royce in the front and looked after it. Very welcoming staff and would definitely come back! Thanks Sugar Hill team! read more

So thankful to guitar and the whole team for hosting my post-work happy hour here! A coworker was leaving and we were looking for a casual and affordable place that people could meet on public transportation and say their goodbyes. I put in a request and received a phone call within the hour working out details for this event. They granted happy hour prices and provided plenty of space for a casual atmosphere that was perfect! We had the upstairs to ourselves (not because we reserved it, though) and had a bartender that catered to our needs. They were able to use a "ticket system" and ran a tab up for us. Bartender(s) were great and super friendly to a team that had many requests. We felt comfortable, well nourished and by the time everyone left: tipsy. First of all, the vibe in here is simply legit. If you're into Hip Hop and/or vinyl, it's definitely a cool place to grab a drink or bite to eat just for that. To compliment, the staff were all friendly and chill. Second, the food was surprisingly delicious and fresh-tasting. My expectations weren't high given it's marketed as a Thai street food restaurant, but I was pleasantly incorrect. The Yum Gai came with a sauce which wasn't too sour or sweet, as well as not drowning the other elements of the dish. The fried pork skins, ordered by my eating companion, were also cooked to a nice crispiness and accompanied by a great sauce. Although I didn't try any, the Thai Tea Ice Cream added a level uniqueness which adds to the appeal of the menu and restaurant. My friend said it was worth ordering, so I'll trust his judgment. I'd definitely recommend this place for a casual bite to eat. I haven't been to any of the late night events, so can't comment on the nature of those. Definitely, give Sugar Hill a try. read more
