Yes, I know this is the second post in a row of Non-Italian foods or desserts but I promise I'll have many coming up this week. Jimmy Fallon may have crowed B&W Crumbcake the greatest in the world but the people at Styertowne Bakery beg to differ. This cash-only Bakery located in a strip mall just off Route 3 in Clifton has been around since 1949 and they also have their own heavy crumb cake. And at first glance, you may think in fact your about to have B&W. But once you bit into a piece, those that have grown up with B&W, will taste the difference. That doesn't mean Styertowne isn't good, far from it. Styertowne's crumb cake is actually sweeter with slightly less crumb and more cake. It's also a little less dense than B&W with the cake being airier. It's one of the better crumb cakes you'll ever have. I'm sure that there are the 2 teams screaming at their screens that one is better than the other but I'd be happy with either one with my cup of coffee. Thanks, Grace for picking some up for me. read more

Great gem in town. Love their Garlic Cheesy Breads and obsessed with ther individual cuts of cake! When I have a sweet tooth, I don't have to get a whole cake, they offer personal pieces. The Chocolate cake always satisfies my cravings! The workers always have a smile on to greet and help you. Never do I feel rushed either even during the busy season! read more

Styertowne Bakery - Individual serving of chocolate cake - Bakeries Near Me - Clifton, New Jersey

Styertowne Bakery is one of the greatest bakeries I've ever had the pleasure of shopping at. I've been working in Clifton for 3 years now and this has been my go-to for office birthdays, client meetings, and treating myself. Their prices are very fair and it boggles my mind how anyone could buy a donut at the Dunkin' Donuts downstairs when the product is 10x better at Styertowne. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and I always feel welcome when I stop in. They were able to make me a beautiful birthday cake in under 24 hrs notice for a coworker's birthday recently, and I always stop by on the way to client meetings to bring pastries and the reaction is always "This is the best donut/cookie/pastry I've ever had". It's also worth noting that the location is very convenient, right off of Route 3, and they have an ATM inside. The crumbcake is the true star and I buy them for friends and family (and myself) all the time. The crumb-to-cake ratio is everything I could hope for in a crumbcake, just fantastic. Don't change a thing, Styertowne Bakery! read more

BEST. CRUMBCAKE. EVER. i could eat the entire thing myself. the staff is so so nice. they're cash only which isn't a big deal because they have an atm. definitely will be back read more

We went this morning and this place is truly a gem. Everything was super fresh, beautifully displayed, the ladies behind the counter were friendly and helpful. We ended up getting more than we'd planned on but literally everything we had was delicious. The sweets weren't too sweet and not at all cloying. You can tell that there is love and passion running this bakery because it was reflected in the quality of every item we tasted. We had in no particular order: Sausage and onion pastry-well filled, good balance of sausage to onion. There was a surprise addition of cheese, not in the description, but certainly a welcomed and delicious bonus. Plus they'll warm it up for you so you can eat it in the on the way hone which is exactly what we did. Crumb cake-not too sweet, the crumb to cake ratio was spot on. More crumb than cake and it wasn't dry at all. No surprise that they're known for it. Tiramisu doughnut- excellent! I'm not typically a doughnut lover but again, this wasn't too sweet. The well balanced espresso cream was delightful and didn't overwhelm the icing or actual doughnut. Pumpkin doughnut- not my choice but also not basic. A nice tender crumb, iced well, not overly spiced or artificial tasting. Pretty tasty. Cheese danish- maybe a touch sweet but with a coffee it would be perfect. Good amount of cheese filling, and a dab of the crumb cake crumb on top made for a tasty treat. This was a great first visit, can't wait to come back and try more treats. read more

This is the best bakery for Cakes and Danish in the Passaic Park, NJ area.. I would always stop at this bakery whenever I would visit my mom on Aycrigg Avenue in Passaic, NJ. She loved desserts, especially their chocolate cake.We would bring this for a special dinner together and sometimes her neighbor on the first floor came. Love this place and its nice to see that it has survived all these years. read more

Great bakery. Crumb cake is to die for. Sales girls are very pleasant and helpful. Go here for specialty cakes for all occasions.

Amazing Bakery from the bakery goods to the customer service! Every time I walk in the door I am greeted by a warm smile and a welcoming voice. The customer service is second to none as they are always accommodating and eager to make all occasions memorable. The owner was absolutely amazing to work with as she helped bring my customized wedding cake to life. She took exactly what I envisioned and helped make it even better with her suggestions. Anyone who is willing to take the time to listen to their customers wants and accommodate them is a place I will return to in a second. THANK YOU STYERTOWNE BAKERY! read more

Absolute BEST Bakery in the area! Been a customer since I was a kid and still go back for myself & anything I bring to an event is always a big hit! While everything in there is amazing, I think they have the BEST chocolate chip cookies in the world and obviously I can eat their famous crumb cake by myself in a very short period of time! Haha! You will NEVER taste anything better! Its totally worth the trip, reasonably priced, & simple and delish! To top it off, the owners and customer service is awesome & they are super accomodating! They even wrapped a crumb cake up perfectly for me to send to my mom in Florida! read more

The crumb cake is awesome! We stopped in after eating lunch next door and to our surprise this bakery has so much to offer. We sampled a pumpkin coffee cake that was super moist and wow! Great taste. We also bought a crumb cake also and this was very moist and just melts in your mouth. They ship all over the world and we will be placing our order soon. If you are in the Clifton NI area, be sure to stop in and have some cake! read more

This place has the best crumb coffee cake hands down. The folks in line ahead told tale of a 30 mile trip just for this cake, how it's requested with every invite they get. After trying it, totally believe them. With all the wonderful old school bakeries disappearing, this is a great find. The donuts are great, loved the peanut butter cup and tiramisu filled. Krispy Dunkin who, what? Treat yo'self with a trip here. As for the price, compared to other places with treats even close to this good, it's a steal. read more

I just got home from the styertown bakery with my much anticipated Irish soda bread. What a disappointment. It doesn't even taste like Irish soda bread. I specifically made the trip to this bakery because they had so many good reviews. The Irish soda bread is a complete fail. Also making it green does not make it any better. Compared to traditional Irish soda bread it doesn't even come close. Also very pricey and a cash only policy. Not worth it. read more

After many years away, I stopped at Styertowne Bakery the day before Thanksgiving. I remembered that my family always loved their crumb cake. They always used more crumbs to cake than any other crumb cake I've tasted. Not knowing what to expect or whether they even made the same crumb cake I was pleasantly surprised to find out they did still make it and the crumb to cake ratio still looked better than any other crumb cake I've seen. I was able to pick up a freshly made crumb cake along with a pumpkin cheese cake. The 3 women working there were lovely and very helpful in explaining how to keep the crumb cake fresh until the next day. They even included a small bag of powdered sugar to sprinkle on before serving. I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving to taste the cakes. They were both absolutely delicious! The pumpkin cheesecake was so creamy and tasty. But the star of the day was the crumb cake. It was so fresh and buttery, just the way I remembered. Everyone kept going back for just one more little piece. It was gone in just a few hours. Absolutely the most delicious crumb cake I've ever eaten. If you like crumb cake you need to stop at Styertowne Bakery and pick up the best you've ever eaten. I know I'll be back. read more

I just had a life changing experience. Enter: Styertowne crumb cake The standard crumb cake tends to be too dry or not crumby enough, but THIS. This is pure heaven. 1/4 moist, chewy cake topped with 3/4 piled high, dense crumbs. It's an another astral plane than the typical subpar crumb cakes and far surpasses even the upper echelon of good crumb cakes. I'm halfway to a diabetic coma and I JUST CAN'T STOP EATING this incredible delicacy that is Styertowne crumb cake. read more

Omg can't believe it took me so long to discover my place. From reading off the reviews, we got the crumb cake, and a variety of donuts including tiramisu, PBJ, and pumpkin. Everything was amazing and my family loved it. The tiramisu donut is an absolute must, as is the crumb cake. Definitely will be back to try more! Also, be aware it's cash only. read more

I've been going to this bakery for many years but lately it just doesn't seem the same. Stopped in today to pick up some danishes, store hours are till 5:00. I was there around 3:15 and all the shelves were empty and they were putting everything away. I asked the girl behind the counter why are you putting everything away if the store closes at 5:00? Didn't have an answer for me. Little disappointed. read more

Really liked this bakery. Have gone twice in the last two weeks. 1st visit was on a Sunday and an hour before close. Tried an apple cinnamon donut and my god!!! Its like Christmas in your mouth!!! Absolutely perfect balance of flavor and INCREDIBLY soft!! I have never had a fresher donut! I went a week after that and bought a box of apple cinnamon donuts for my family, my sister, mother & two nephews LOVED them!same consistent great taste and freshness. 5 stars! Would love to see them be able to take cards in the future! read more

First of all, their crumbcakes are delicious! So if you live locally and you can pick one up then you will be in heaven. Unfortunately when it comes to s\hipping out of state the screw ups are too much..They insist on using UPS and it has taken 8 full days and counting for my cake to arrive here in AZ. . It will probably be stale by the time, if and when, it arrives via UPS. Even 3 day select doesn't work! In fairness to the staff, they are very friendly and understanding but won't use another service. USPS Priority mail would guarantee 3 day arrival for sure! read more

Soooooo good! They make so many tasty and delicious looking stuff. From breads to pies, cakes, cookiets, etc. I want to try it all...We have gotten their brown derby cake a few times now and it's just always excellent...also the crumb cake is unique and delicious. Great customer service...but CASH only so be prepared. You will not be disappointed. read more

Blueberry crumb cake was raw inside. Disappointed used to love stopping here. Will not be returning.

I was passing by the area and decided to stop in for their crumb cake and some other good treats. They have so many desserts and even savory items, it's easy to get overwhelmed. I ended up getting some crumb cake but it isn't the same as the one they are known for. The woman who was working today told me that the 8x8 crumb cake they are famous for is different compared to the one I got. I just couldn't justify getting that big of a crumb cake for 2 people so I got the other one. That crumb cake was still good and not dry at all as I've tried from other places. I also got a Boston creme donut which was also good. But the reason they are only getting 4 stars is the cheese and garlic stick. I almost gave them 3 stars for the bread. It was recommended to me by the woman who was working and she said she loved it so I decided to get it. I warmed it up in a toaster oven at for a few minutes before I ate it because she recommended heating it up before eating. It just had no taste at all. It honestly tasted like raw dough to me and I was so disappointed cause I was so excited to try it. Definitely won't be getting that again. read more

Might be the best bakery in New Jersey. The crumb cake is incredible. So is the Russian tea cake. They also have a wide selection of stuffed breads. The prices are extremely reasonable. I dto be 25 minutes to get here and it's worth it. read more

Styertowne bakery is simply the best! The buttery, moist, chock full of crumbs crumb cake is to die for and the best ever. The pecan ring is perfection and don't even get me started on the French crullers! I have never purchased an item in this bakery that I can honestly say I disliked. I have relatives and friends in other parts of the state that won't allow me in their houses unless I come loaded down with crumb cakes. It is by far...THE BEST BAKERY ON THE PLANET! read more

Decided to go into this establishment to get some goodies . When it came time to check out the young lady with the blonde hair was extremely rude . Best Crumb-Cake ever. Even a day later and 3,000 miles away, it's super tasty. Way to go folks! Out here on the West Coast, we can't get a decent bakery to save our lives. Thank goodness for care packages from back East. read more

We decided to try the crumb cake for Mother's Day. I have no idea why this cake is so highly rated. It was some of the worst crumb cake I ever had - it was very dry and clearly contained NO butter - bland and disappointing. "Cherry crumb cake"just had canned cherry pie filling slopped on top - not what I was expecting. read more

Definitely my favorite bakery! I have moved from North Jersey but many times when I'm in the area I stop in. They have the best German butter stollen that I look forward to every holiday season. Everything is always fresh and good. read more

It had been years since I had found the perfect cheese danish. A good danish does not have a big blob of cheese in the middle. The cheese has to be worked into the pastry and one Sunday I bite into heaven. It was here that I rediscovered a childhood classic. I love it and as I eat one I always think how delicious it is. I love it so much that this place and its danish have been my weekly stop every Sunday. Along the way I have tried their blueberry and strawberry tarts with custard . So fresh and so darn good! It's light, sweet and summery. The sweet potato cheesecake was to die for! Again, so light and perfect. It was a hit at my friend's BBQ, Would have definitely gave it five stars if there was a place to sit and it's just cash only. Very recommended you gotta go! read more

We recently moved to Clifton and a Facebook page recommended this bakery, so we gave it a shot. It was amazing!!!! Everything looked so good and fresh. We had the Nutella donut, tres leche donut, funfetti cake, German butter cake and chocolate chip cookies. They were all very good and had a homemade taste. Also the service was superb! The ladies were very friendly, especially Tina! We can't wait to come back! read more

I went in to buy my wife a birthday cake, bought what they told me was a chocolate mousse cake for $22 dollars, only to get home and find that it was coffee-flavored. on top of that, they don't take credit cards, since no normal person carries cash anymore they do have an atm on-site, however the atm has a $20 limit, and all of their cakes are just over $20. So I'm not happy that a $22 plus $2.50 atm fee cake went to waste because they can't properly identify the flavor of their cakes. I will not return. read more

Have been going to this bakery for over 30 years and by far the absolute best crumbcake ever! Everything else is top notch as well. Just sent two crumbcakes to our aunt in Florida for her birthday and she was ecstatic. Just be advised though...they missed putting in a note or enclosure so our aunt had no idea who the cakes were from. Be sure to tell them to double check that they have enclosed paperwork. read more

This place is a bit hard to review. It deserves 5 stars for the crumb cake, german crumb cake and doughnuts. The regular cakes rate a 2 at best while the "lunch" selections are mediocre. So stick with what they do best and grab a delicious crumb cake and a few doughnuts and you won't be disappointed! read more

Simply the best bakery in the area- no question about it. Their crumb cake is to die for and is a MUST at all of my family gatherings. Wide variety of baked goods (and not just desserts) and a welcoming, knowledgeable staff every time makes Styertowne stand out from the rest. The bakery is always beautifully decorated and clean, and all of the staff has been following COVID guidelines every time I've been in there. These may be uncertain times but one thing is 100% certain to me: Styertowne Bakery NEVER disappoints. read more

Good bakery. Great crumb cake. Prices are a lot higher than I'm used to in Bayonne, more like NYC prices, but the crumb cakes are worth it.

This bakery is like no other. It is the perfect blend of traditional, old-world German recipes and modern sweets. Everything is baked fresh daily, with no added preservatives so you know you're getting the real thing. The crumb cake is to die for - there is absolutely nothing like it. They have an awesome selection of every-day goodies and seasonal items. With the holidays coming up, you won't be disappointed (or hungry!) The owners and staff truly care for their customers and want them to experience the family-like environment they provide. I love this bakery and would recommend it to anyone I know! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. ...Very disappointed... it was my first time visiting Styretowne Bakery, I heard and read great reviews but they have not lived up to their reputation. I called Saturday and ordered 6 Bavarian cream Saint Joseph's Zepoles and a crumb cake. When I picked up my order on Sunday, my order was incorrect. They told me that the baker had not made the Bavarian cream zepoles today so they only had the canoli cream zepoles. To top it off one of them was completely empty! No cream at all! Never going to this place again! Neither will my family. How do you take an order and then not fill that order as it was placed because you just didn't feel like it? Talk about poor customer service! What a disgrace! read more
