I've been renting a couple of small units at this facility for a few years. Rusty and Terra could not have been nicer when I needed a larger unit to help me downsize from my apartment. They were very accomodating and gave me a break on the first month. One thing I appreciate which I had not considered was Rusty required me to lay down a tarp in the unit to insulate against the concrete floor which can let moisture pass through to cardboard boxes. It was easy to consolidate the smaller units with the use of they dollies they let me borrow. The free moving truck made it convenient to move most of my belongings from my apartment in. Terra made sure all my contact info was up to date and closed out my old units and had the staff sweep them out for me, which saved me some time I needed to organize my new unit. read more

Updating my review from late last year. This facility made major changes in their management, installing Rusty & Tara to run the place. It was a total turnaround. Highly professional now. At one point, I had three storage units during our recent move. I've borrowed their truck twice. They've worked with me on to help be sure I'm clear on my account status, payments, etc. No comparison to before. I would highly recommend them now. read more

Customer service usually isn't the first thing I consider when evaluating storage units - I'm more concerned about security and value. When I moved in about two years ago, this place was priced about the same as their competition - despite their flimsy, cardboard interior doors. But, I gambled, and hoped that they spent more on their surveillance system than they did on their WalMart doors. I haven't needed to visit the unit since Christmas-time; so, I'm not sure if it's still secure. However, they just gave me a reason to go back. Today, I received my fourth "Rent Adjustment Notice" in less than 2 years. My monthly rate unit has gone from $38 to $72 - due to "current market conditions." That's $1.44 PER SQ FT! That's more than office space across the street! I'm a capitalist and not a socialist; I support their right to conduct business as they are. However, I will vote with my wallet and my feet -- I will be moving my stuff somewhere else this weekend. And, I will be sure to tell everyone in Foothill Ranch about my rent adjustment history. An 89% increase in two years?!? Did anybody you know get an 89% raise since 2011? Perhaps this is why the majority of their reviewers are from out of the area - these poor people are being held hostage because they can't just drop in and move their stuff on any given weekend. read more

These guys are amazing! Told the person at the front desk that I would be only there for two weeks, and agreed to only charge me $25, and he did! And he even said that if I went over, they would still work with me on a pro-rated price. Very honest and willing to work with you; unlike some other storage facilities I've used. The front desk person even swept out the unit for me, and laid down a plastic covering in the unit to protect my leather couch. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. I have never felt so disrespected and talked down to by a company or any services before. Their unclear policies, unprofessionalism, and desire to argue and tell me they didn't care about being flexible or accommodating for our military family for relocating was enough to get me to leave within 10 minutes of an interaction with them. I called earlier in the day to ask if there was a specific storage unit available on a specific day. They offered a free truck for the day as well and I said I would like to utilize that service as well. I remember saying twice to the woman manager my specific date I would need both services and she said she would verbally reserve it for me until that night I went in to see the storage unit. When I walked in she was distracted with the other manager. We quickly got to the point of talking about renting their truck for the day that we would move our stuff in and said it was the only day for the month we could NOT use their truck because it was reserved. I looked in shock to ask if she had booked it before the day when we verbally reserved my date. She said yes, and I then questioned why she didn't bother letting me know it was already taken. I turned to the male manager and said that I even called again to clarify the date for the unit and truck service and spoke with both f them earlier that day. They got very frustrated and heated and she said 'I made a mistake!' I then asked if we could utilize the truck on a different day which had shorter hours. Truck rental was only available to use on Sundays 10-430pm. There was no way to drop off keys in a Dropbox in case we couldn't get it back in time. They got agitated and said 'we can't break the policies for you.' I explained I wasn't asking to break the rules but they admitted they made a mistake and I asked if they could accommodate with a discount off one months rate for their mistake. I left the office walking out to the sound f their bickering and condescending words. They were not apologetic, extremely sarcastic and I would tell anyone to stay away from their business. When you pay for services you want a good experience and there are far more organized, professional and kind employers in the self storage industry than this place. I saw a woman walking in after me and wanted to warn her but didn't want to overstep my boundaries. Funny thing was that she had followed me to A1 storage on lake forest where we both ended up taking our business. read more

The 2 stars are for a clean and secure facility but the unfortunate lack of customer service keeps them from earning more. The new management is a joke. The guy that was there before was awesome and INCREDIBLY helpful (I forget his name :/ )The new management could care less about customer retention, they only care about the customers coming in and will do nothing to help you as you are moving out. I had 2 units, which were on auto-pay, never missed a payment, and during that time everything was fine. I never had to think about my storage units, which is exactly what I want. Then came the time to move out.. I had a big move over the weekend and wasn't able to finish cleaning out one of my units because there were large items that I didn't have a truck for. 1 unit was billed on the 15th and 1 was billed on the 30th. The one that was billed on the 30th was completely cleaned out and ready for them to take back but the one billed on the 15th had my large items in it, and I moved on the 14th. So i faced another monthly charge if I didn't get my items out, but I didn't have the means to do so. I asked if they could just let me leave my items in that unit and take back the other one and I was laughed at saying there is no possible way they could do that. They told me I would have to move my items to the other unit or they could pro rate me. This is where everything went very sour for me. I was exhausted after a big move and had to move my biggest/heaviest items into the other unit all because they were unwilling to help a loyal, on-time customer. For that, I will never use them in the future and would advise everyone to steer clear. The owner should re-evaluate his/her policies that affect customer retention. read more

Over my life I have used a few different storage facilities. Not one compares to this self storage. The rates were fantastic. The owners and property managers treated me fairly, with respect and where always able to help me with my questions. The property was always clean. Stor-it Self was nice enough to let me borrow their moving truck. They do this for all be customers. They made it twice as hard as it had to be and the lady working was just plain rude. I drove the truck for 21 miles and had it back in an hour. Since I was running late for an appointment I didn't have time to put gas in it. There policy is that you pay $10 per gallon if you don't fill it with gas. Neither person working there had any clue as to how many miles per gallon the truck got. I offered them $20 to cover the 21 miles which seemed more than fair. Instead of accepting that and allowing me to make my appointment, the lady working there thought it was better use of our time to insult me and argue with me. She finally decided that $40 was the price for my 21 miles. I honestly don't care about getting ripped of for $40, I just can't stand rude, disrespectful people that work in a service industry. Store your stuff somewhere else, there are plenty of options at locations that understand what a service industry is. read more

I've been using this storage facility for more than 12 years. I have always been happy with the staff and how they treat their guests. We have a one-car garage sized unit after upgrading from one half that size a couple years ago. the staff has always been courteous and accommodating and a pleasure to work with. But from the start John and Naty have been so incredibly kind and helpful getting us acclimated. If you are looking for storage, look elsewhere. If you're looking to be treated with disrespect and be completely ignored, you've found a winner. When we moved in over 5 years ago Jim the on site manager gave me his card with his personal cell phone number just in case I ever had an issue. I still have that card in my truck! I never had to call him and likely would not have, but the peace of mind he gave me by doing that was our deciding factor in choosing this location. He treated us like family, and with respect. A few months ago Jim and Tina were replaced. I have no idea what the circumstances were surrounding their exit, but they are severely missed. This facility has completely tanked since then. Unfortunately it got so bad that we are leaving. Here is the short version... We have 2 units here. In the last 8 months we have received 6 "rent adjustment notices!" The three most recent were monthly back to back. One unit went from $76.00 to $116.00. The other from $150.00 to 258.00! When I complained about our second increase on one of the units they simply re-mailed the "rent adjustment letter" and followed that up with a $100 increase the following month. That's the new customer service... The new staff is only partially trained to operate their computer systems. If you/they have a problem and the Mgr. is not there, you will have to come back again and again on your time. I had a problem attempting to pay for one of my units. Their system had it linked to another unit and I only wanted to pay the one (because I'd already paid the first). Since they are not "allowed" to accept partial payments, and the amount shown on the screen is the combined amount for both units...you guessed it, i couldn't pay! I asked the girl behind the counter to call someone who could help her and she refused. She gave my the corporate office number which goes directly to voice mail. I left six messages the first day, just trying to get a phone call back! Its now the following day and two more messages, and still no phone call. I had to return a second day only to go through the same routine. This time it was a flat billed punk a** behind the counter who wouldn't help me at all. He didn't know how to work the system, his manager was gone (as usual) and I just had to wait for her!!! This is their new level of professionalism and customer service!!! After a second trip back on the SECOND day I was able to meet the manager who got it all straightened out. Although she proceeded to put it all off on "the company" and talked about how crazy things are that all the original customers are upset and leaving. Guess what, YOU are the site manager. I just got a rent increase from $62 to $99 a month with one month's notice. I called and spoke to the property manager. She was not helpful at all. My company is just around the corner and rent units with this location for business as well. I'm moving my personal and business storage elsewhere. This is an excellent storage place. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledge. When I was moving Kim, the manager, gave me the name of a mover. Very kind of her. I rented a second unit and they forgot to add auto pay and when I got a late reminder I called and explained I'd asked for it and they were great about it. Said it was their error and fixed it right away -integrity like that is hard to find in business. It was crowded the day I'd set it up and she was very busy but she remembered me. Super clean faculty, well lighted, and less expensive than other storage in the area. I recommend them. read more

RENTERS BEWARE!! Several members of my family have rented here for years and were happy with the facility. Something has changed though ( new management?/new owner?) . Used to be rent was increased annually at about $20-$25 a year. Now increases come more frequently and are for huge amounts. They get new renters in on specials then immediately start with the rental increases. I would suggest you go anywhere but here! read more

Guess what guys? Because I put a honest review and told everyone what cons these people are, Stor It put a note on our unit kicking us out. That's what these people do. They harass you, charge you extra fees and kick you out when you put bad reviews. They also charged me for this month and expect me to be out by 1/15. I'm going to take them to court. It's a good thing I'm a lawyer. These people should not be able to get away with this kind of behavior. read more

WORST customer service EVER. We showed up after hours with a truckload of furniture and were promised we would be granted after hours entry. We did have gate entry, but there was a lock (not ours) on unit. Horrible off site owner...feels like dealing with the mob! Late fees quite liberally applied and no matter what they tell you about being able to leave at will... when you try to they will remind you of the small print! Oh, almost forgot...after a significant rain everything was damp. Our furniture now smells musty and cartons were damp on the bottom despite being place on a tarp as required. run...don't walk read more

So I read the reviews before coming by to rent a unit...I noticed a theme running...it was a communication problem or someone needed more than was offered... So I checked out the unit and listened very carefully to the manager..who was nice..and yes there are rules.. Which I believe SHE has to follow...so it is expected that WE follow. Its all spelled out...the moving out.. The prorating.. The hours..accessibility.. The use of the truck..(kinda first come first serve)...and honestly its not rocket science... Follow the rules, read your contract, and don't expect more than what is being provided just because you are out of time...I'm in a business where everyone wants special attention and throws me under the bus when they don't get their way. I've learned play by the rules and you should be fine. Anyway...I rented a 10x10 and it seems expensive but I liked the location and convenience. Absolutely horrible customer service. We have been at this location for 5 years and have been on auto-pay. We decided to upgrade to a larger unit and was NOT informed that our auto-pay was stopped. So what happens? We get charged a late fee. I called to find out why and because we moved to another unit the stopped the auto-pay. The management neglected to inform of of this and the lady manager I spoke to today, couldn't understand her name over the call, gave me the most piss poor excuse ever! I told her that I was not informed my auto-pay was being stopped and she said "Well, we didn't tell you it was continuing either." After 5 years you have the audacity to say something like this to a customer who was on auto-pay the entire time???? This is the most unprofessional unethical thing to do when it was Stor-It's fault for neglecting to inform their customer of 5 years who was on auto-pay that they took them off auto-pay just so they can collect a $10 fee! If they did this to me, a long time customer, I wonder how many others they have scammed out of money with these BS fees?!?! read more
