i really like that you pay first for your food and then leave whenever you're ready. you don't have to try and flag down a waiter to get the check, the service is pretty prompt, and it's a really relaxed atmosphere. tri-tip here is pretty good, and you can get a decent amount of food for the amount you pay. read more

Stimulus Package is definitely the best deal for broke college kids looking for a meal. You get you salad, tri-tip [AWESOME GORGONZOLA BUTTER], breadsticks, and two-topping pizza, leaves you full as can be. Ambiance inside is nice, casual, yet can be fancy as well. This is a place I've overlooked before, but a friend recently got a job here and told us to try out the menu of the stuff she recommended, and it definitely did not disappoint. read more

Very refreshing! from their free range roasted chicken (get both lemon pepper and bbq) if you decide in getting whole chicken to their quinoa and spinach salad. Very delicious and alternative way of eating like a BJ's or a Denys. Service was quick and nice place to eat with big bench tables. Will be back with my fam bam again read more

Love this place! I've tried almost everything here and they're all great! I always get an individual meal and I always have leftovers for the next day. They're generous with their portions. This place is great for take out or dine in. My favorite is the garlic lemon chicken with BBQ tri tip, and I get mashed potatoes instead of salad. Comes with breadsticks too! read more

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this place. This is a walk up and order place. Although it seemed a bit pricy, I thought the food was delicious. I only wish they give unlimited bread sticks. read more

Good food...nothing bad about the experience...if I'm craving salad pizza or bbq I will come here for sure..

First time dining here. I was impressed by how big it was! Looks like a great place to come with a big group too. Came with our family of four. Food was a little slow to come out, and the mac n cheese for my daughter came out last, and I mean like 10 minutes later than the rest of the food. As you know, that it torture for a child, watching everyone else eat first. Usually kids' food comes out first! No one wants a whining child at the table. But our food was tasty, and portions were good sized. We got half a lemon garlic chicken, salad, cauliflower, and a kids rib meal, plus the aforementioned mac n cheese. Chicken was slightly too greasy. Salad was good, as was the cauliflower (though served with too much tahini, plus more on the side). My daughter literally sucked the rib bones clean. Overall, a great place to take the family. Will be back. read more

Went here with a friend and shared the pasta meal. We got tomesto pasta which us their pesto and marinara mixed. It was very good. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was clean and nice. Our meal came with a small salad which was actually pretty large. It probably could have fed 3 people or so. I love this restaurant! read more

This place was awesome!! The food was great as was the service. Super clean and well cared for restaurant. You could absolutely tell the folks that work there care. We can't wait to go back! read more

Located near the corner of Barranca Parkway and Culver Drive, Stonefire Grill glows with a mesquite-fired grill. After you park your car, you will smell the meats as they cook and your nose will lead you to the front door. This restaurant is setup differently than you might expect. You order your food at a counter that looks like a long hostess stand. They give you a number and you seat yourself. While you wait, you can grab your tools to tackle your meal - plates, flatware, napkins, sauces, and fill up your drink. The service is polite and friendly. In September 2010, Stonefire Grill celebrated their 10th anniversary and offered a "Taste of Stonefire" for $10. We were offered a salad add-on for $1, which is a great deal. Please check with the restaurant to see if they are still offering it. read more

When the work lunch crew was stuck with that daily question - where we going for lunch? a brave soul (Rho) suggested Stonefire Grill. I had never heard of it and I'm always down for some new grubbing locales so the 8 of us decided to give it a go. I guess one of the guys knew what he was doing when he suggested the Whole Tri Tip Roast Family Meal for 4. Damn that was some tender, flavorful beef!! We got half the roast BBQ and half pepper garlic. Both were super, but the BBQ was my fave. The meal also came with a Caesar Salad and breadsticks. The breadsticks were barely average but the salad was very garlicky - i likes me garlic. There was a line out the door by the time we ordered and we were able to find seats pretty easily. Cost wise it was ~$9 a head...pretty reasonable for the quality. I'm buying Rho a beer the next time we go to happy hour. read more

The family meals are a wonderful deal. Easily feeds 4, and I've even ordered it for 2 and had a ton of delicious leftovers. Tri-tip, breadsticks, and the cartwheel salad are the trifecta of love, and any deviation will be dealt with my yours truly. It's a great deal at $32. The lunch options are also excellent, and almost any salad there will leave you happy as a bearded dragon. read more

We ordered $50+ worth of food online but we arrived 20 minutes late to pick up our order and the staff had already thrown it away. When we gave them our name they looked around for 10 minutes, found nothing and then asked for our order confirmation. When we showed it to them they said they never recieved it. We left without ever getting our food or refund. read more

Oh myy! Tri-tip and barbeque ribs= my faavorite! I love the meat here more than Lawry's prime-rib-house. everything is just good quality-- from the breadsticks to the cartwheel salad to the meat. it's a fun, casual, family style eatery. read more

I'm a Stonefire addict - so much so that I've upgraded this from a close to work lunch spot to a weekend dining destination. I can't vouch for the meat and pizza that seem to be getting the more negative reviews, but I do love the wide variety of salads and the amazing bread sticks. I usually go with the fiesta that has big chunks of grilled vegetables, black beans, and cotija cheese - and since I'm a carnivore I top it with the steak (which tastes just fine to me in bite sized portions). The cilantro ranch that comes with the fiesta is super tasty and great for a bread sticks dipper. All in all I appreciate the fresh ingredients and the creative salad combos that are definitely big enough to fill you up (I promise the petite is adequate for one person). As a carrot cake devotee, this place is too inconsistent to judge. I've had a slice of carrot cake that had a giant wad of unmixed batter that tasted like a salt lick. I've had one that tasted like freezer burn. And I've had a couple that were freaking phenomenal. Probably why I keep ordering it despite the times I've been burned! read more

This place has only been around a couple of years. It sort of reminds me of a Pat & Oscars, but with more food selections. It's counter service where you order, get a number, get your drinks and silverware and sit down. They will bring your food to your table. The service is usually pretty fast and pretty friendly.I don't know if all locations have this, but this particular location has a lunch menu that runs until about 2pm. These are SOME of the items I've enjoyed: BREAD STICKS: Delicious! dusted with butter, parmasan cheese and parsley, they are addicting. NUTTY COLESLAW: This is what got me hooked to this place. Their coleslaw is amazing. The peanuts give it an extra flavor and the dressing is oh so good. LEMON CHICKEN LUNCH SPECIAL: I think they only serve this during the lunch special, but this is a must try. Especially if you like lemon and garlic together. Don't expect to have close conversations after this one cause your breath will definitely have that garlic glow. It comes with a side and bread sticks. BBQ Chopped Salad: I haven't had this in a while, but it's really good. SIMPLY GRILLED VEGETABLES: Haven't ordered this in a while, but usually comes with zucchini, eggplant, onions, tomato and red peppers. I like it for the eggplant. BBQ CHICKEN WRAP: If you love bbq chicken salad, you'll love this. GRILLED CHICKEN PESTO SANDWICH: This is my new favorite thing to order. Inside a baked french roll, you will find chicken, caramelized onions, basil pesto, melted mozzarella, sliced tomato and baby greens. FUDGE BROWNIES: I have a really bad sweet tooth so I enjoy most things. However, this brownie tends to be a little to dense and sweet for me. A small piece is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. read more

I like this place for what it is, a fast and casual place to eat. I never came here to dine in, but their Express Lunch menu is what I come here for when I need lunch on the go. There are about 6 items on there that costs $6.49 and add a dollar more for a drink. I came here twice for their infamous chopped salad with bbq tri-tip. YUM. Salad has roasted corn from the cob (not that canned or frozen stuff), black beans, red cabbage, carrots, cheese, scallions, green/iceburg lettuce, and tri-tip (or you can have chicken). The pizza on the Express Lunch is also good and filling - you get a one topping, 7" pizza with a salad. I suggest getting their Caesar salad because I love their garlicky dressing. I will definitely keep coming back for their Express Lunch menu, especially since the staff has always been so friendly! read more

You go to Stonefire for one reason. BBQ. It's not the most amazing sport for it, but for a chain, and for tri-tip thats moist and juicy it's tough to beat. The portions for anything above a small are massive and you will leave with leftovers. The garlic bread is great and the salads are good. Real good. Even the pasta is decent. I don't like the order, sit and wait with the buzzer style, but it gets the job done. If I have the cash for it, and want family style, this is a great option. read more

Holy crap, I came here on a Saturday night for take-out, and the place was packed. The place was overflowing with people. But this is a good thing, right? Means that business is crackin' for this place. I ordered the small Baked Rigatoni with Meat Sauce & Mozzarella. I'd have to say, this was pretty good, but nothing I couldn't make at home. I was lazy, so I ordered out, alright? I also ordered 3 of their sandwiches with garlic mashed potatoes for the side: BBQ Chicken Wrap, Pulled Pork, and Stonefire's BBQ Beef. The BBQ Chicken Wrap tasted bland without the BBQ sauce, so be sure to use that! As for service, it was great. Everything was well packed, and nothing spilled in my car on the way home! Stonefire also caters! I had a club banquet earlier this year and we ordered food from them. It was a lot of food for a decent price. read more

Kale salad is great!! Cauliflower salad is awesome! Love the kick!! Everything has been good! read more

Just okay. Got the chicken pesto sandwich it was dry and soggy at the same time. Not very appetizing. Won't go here again

Honestly... the place isn't too bad! It's definitely a family restaurant, and it's good to come here if you're coming with a big group. Last night we ordered: Chicken BBQ Pizza Sausage + Mushroom Pizza Pesto Pasta Caesar Salad Tri-Tip Steak The pizza was really good, and the dough had a nice chewy consistency. If you like soft, doughy pizza you'll like it, unless you're a fan of something crispy. It wasn't too greasy, although it could be lighter. Sausage + Mushroom Pizza was a bit too hearty and meaty for my tastes, but the Chicken BBQ was really good and not TOO heavy. The pasta was pretty good, you should definitely try it if you like pesto sauces. Ceasar Salad just tasted like a normal Caesar Salad. Nothing unexpected here. Tri-Tip was very tender, chewy, and well-seasoned. Maybe a little more on the medium side than well-done. All in all, this is a good place to go to if you have a large group, and are looking for hearty "American" food. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE :) Service is good, you order at the front and someone will bring your food out to your table. Remember to grab your plates, forks, napkins, etc near the back. I came in with 3 other people and we were able to order the Stimulus Package without an ad or whatever that other people mentioned in their reviews. It came with a salad of your choice, about 8 breadsticks, a two topping pizza, and your choice of meat (i think) for $25. It left us a bit hungry so we had to order about another lb of food. I always order the tri tip, but I've tried the ribs and chicken before and they were both so so. I find the tri tip softer and more flavorful. I love their breadsticks and caesar salad but I'm not so fond of their greek salad. Food is a bit pricey, but I would come here again! read more

Loved the selection, but a lot of the food was really bland (I'm talking specifically the tri tip and the tortilla soup). The asian salad (can't specifically remember the name) was fabulous though! This is a great place for sharing (there are size options on every dish). Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I have completely different tastes, so I didn't get to take advantage of that. Next time I'll take a friend, and hopefully I can update with a higher star rating. read more

I was so impressed! The steak was so tender that it nearly melted in my mouth! The chicken was equally impressive and cooked to perfection! Even the breadsticks were delicious! read more

I love their South Border Salad. It is just right with fresh salad, tender beef, and tasty dressing. And the price is right! If you order on line it is ready when you go there to pick it up. I will stop by there soon. read more

Not bad, not bad at all... I had no idea that you order and pay first before sitting down. But anyway, I ordered the tri-tip to see what it tasted like. It wasn't that great because it was rather dry and tough to chew on. Nonetheless, the price was reaaally decent for what you get. So based on the reviews I've read, I'll probably try the pizza next time. read more

I'd give this place a 3.5 stars too. This is a great lunch spot. They even have an outdoor patio area. The BFF and I went to Stonefire for lunch. I can't believe this was my 1st time here...and I've worked and lived around the area! We got the chopped salad with tri-tip and had to get the order re-made because it was drenched in dressing. I would def. come back and try their other grilled items. { ORDER } * Tri-tip (you can get it with the cobb salad but they don't give you enough meat) * Combo pizza with a variety of meats, mushroom and bell peppers { TIP } If you don't like a lot of dressing on your salad, ask for the dressing on the side. { OVERALL } I will definitely come back since it's so close! The customer service is pretty good as well. Everyone is really friendly and helpful. read more

Sadly, I did not like my pizza. I wanted to eat "healthier" but still try their pizza so got the cheeseless veggie pizza. Mistake. It was dry dry dry. The veggies were dry, the sauce was dried up, pizza crust is dry (of course). I wish they would have re-sauced it with warm sauce or something. My boyfriend got the cheese pizza which he said was okay but wouldn't repeat it :-/. On the other hand, the breadsticks my group ordered was fantastic. The bbq meats LOOKED really tasty. If I do come again, I would definitely order that over a pizza. These great reviews have got to be for a reason, right? read more

I use to love this place when I was in college! You get A LOT of food for what you pay. I love the cartwheel salad...super yummy. :) The breadsticks are seasoned perfectly and are always hot. I love the BBQ ribs and the lemon chicken. I usually get this combo. I like the setup of this place too. You order up front and they bring you the food. All the utensils, extra sauces, even take-out boxes have their own station for you to take from. I think this setup reduces their operation costs, thus, we pay less. This place is always busy when I go there. On the weekends, there is always an event on the patio. This would be a great place to have cater one of your events. Highly recommend! :) read more

Bit confusing when you get in here. You have to put your name down to wait in line. Didn't know that walking it. Not really a big deal, just prepare for a bit of confusion. So I guess the big thing here is their Tri Tip. Guess would make you'd expect them to have it on a Sat night at 5. But...no...they were fresh out. So what to order. Ribs...thought..ok...if they're known for their Tri Tip..guess their ribs would have to be good. Saw another review before I ordered saying they were over cooked so thought maybe that person got a bad rack. Well...have to say...these ribs were the worst ribs I ever tasted. These have to be boiled then thrown on the grill. They are SOOOO dry. Meat tasted sewn onto the rip. Horrid. Horrid. Horrid. I am posted a pic that hopefully shows how dry these ribs were. I am so disappointed. Wish I had a side of sauce to put these in. The sauce had some flavor...but...damn....damn damn....horrible. Can't even say that enough. Service though...real good. Staff was nice. Everyone was friendly. So...don't get the ribs. I don't know if I'd go back. Living in Irvine, think i'll just scratch this place off the list and go to the next spot. Well...its better than Sizzler....that's about all I can say about that. read more

Stonefire Grill - Can you see how dry this is?? Worst Ribs ever! - American Near Me - Irvine, California

My thoughts on the food, in order from favorite to least favorite: I highly recommend the lemon garlic chicken, it's delicious... a moist, tender, large chicken breast, covered in garlic and lemon juice. The bbq tri-tip is also really good... tender and flavorful. I love the bbq sauce with it. The breadsticks were OK. I wouldn't get the cartwheel salad again, just wasn't a fan of it. (Mixed greens, black olives, beets, garbanzo beans, tomato, radishes, tortilla strips, cilantro vinaigrette). read more

Great place for large groups/family dinners that are willing to share! Very similar to Pat & Oscar's Restaurant. The portions are very large. A family meal for 4 can actually feed 6 girls easily. I was told that the tri-tip is the best meat here, but was not very impressed. It was slightly tough, so I'll probably give the chicken or ribs a try next time. As for sides, the garlic mashed potatoes are heaven and resemble those of Boston Market/ KFC. The family meal also comes with breadsticks and a choice of salad. TIP: Don't forget to grab sauce for your tri tip/ meat: It's on the counter near the plates & utensils! read more

deeply disappointed with sfg from our lunch experience. our group arrived around 11:50a and the line was really deep, for both dine-in and pick-up. of the 3 registers for dine-in, only 2 registers were open. one of the cashiers had to manage picking up the phone as well, so that naturally leaves ONE register open for 15 customers in line... needless to say, it took us 20 minutes just to order. 20 minutes later we finally got our pizza. 10 minutes later, finally got our breadstick and salad. no signs of tritip. i had to wave down one of the waiters and tell her we're missing our tritip. we saw other tables that just sat down have their food delivered before our tritip. she comes back with a receipt in her hand and tells us our order got lost. seriously? and then asked us what we ordered... no apologies. unacceptable. and she seemed insincere in remedying the mistake. usually half way through our meal the waiter would've at least stop by to ask if we need anything and how things were, nope, nada. the caliber of staff seemed to have changed, and so did management. moral of the story, don't come during rush hour... read more

I had lunch yesterday at Stonefire Grill. We ordered the lemon garlic salmon, a garden salad and carrot cake for dessert. I have been to many Stonefire Grill locations and all were on point food was delicious. However, yesterday my meal was absolutely horrible. The salmon was not grilled. I think it was poached. It had hard garlic pieces on it, and it taste like old fish. I was so disappointed that I actually had to get a refund. Finally, the waiter brought out the carrot cake that was shared by me and my guest and it was straight from the refrigerator cold as ice. Who serves ice cold cake. I could not even eat it had to take it home and leave it at room temperature and eat the next day. Needless to say the carrot cake was just so so. Again I say I have never been disappointed at Stonefire Grill, but this location was the worst I have ever had. Whoever is preparing the food, please do a better job and live up to the Stonefire Grill standards. read more

Not happy with the service at all! I ordered salad today with Salmon. I paid for two extra pieces of salmon. when I came back to work, I found out they didn't add my extra 2pieces on my salad! I was very disappointed but I did not have time to go back and started eating and the second horrible thing happened! A piece of olive seed was inside the salad, it almost broke my tooth!!! Not going to order food from that place anymore! Ever! read more

A good place to pick up a quick dinner for yourself or for a large group! I usually only the "stimulus package" because it is such a great deal. It can feed 4 people for sure. I came here with 4 (3 girls, 1 guy) of my friends and we decided to eat family-style. We got 1/2 slab ribs, small potatoes, small marinara pasta and breadsticks. I forgot how much we ended up paying but i think it was maybe around 25- 30 which is really cheap since the food was good. AND we were full off of it. :D I think my guy friend wasn't that full, but didn't want to seem like a pig in front of us by eating it all. Parking isn't too bad, since it's in a big plaza with target and others. read more

Yum, Yum and more Yum! Their salads are all great and very reasonably priced. Their breadsticks are deeelish and their pizza is very yummy. Their pastas are also very good. I have eaten over 10 dishes on their menu and have yet to be disappointed. Come at lunch during the week and you can take advantage of their combo deal for a great price. The service is generally good but on multiple occasions, I've requested something of their server staff and they have forgotten. Sooner or later I flag someone else down but that's just annoying. Other than that, two very enthusiastic thumbs up! read more
