Tasty food but a little pricy in my opinion. When I pay this much, I really enjoy the serving experience. Having to pay at the counter is a little inconvenient. Just voicing my opinion. The tri tip is good. I don't come here too often because when I go out to eat, I really enjoy the service part of the experience. I utilize stone fire for take out though :) you can get a lot of food and the family dinners include a ton of food for a good deal. I'd recommend it for someone whose never been here to definitely try it out! read more

I had the French dip sandwich with the beans. Both were very good, the meat was sliced nice and thin, not fatty at all. The bbq beans were very good too. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. read more

For some odd reason, my husband's employees chose Stonefire Grill as the place for the Christmas party/dinner. Nobody had ever eaten there before, so we thought we would try it. Not exactly a place to take your employees out for an end of year celebration, it was very loud. The wait was supposed to be 15 minutes, but it was 45 minutes so we were seated at around 7PM. While we were waiting, I sat next to the fire outside and some little kids were putting sticks in the fire and waving them around. Their parents were totally oblivious so I decided to move instead of risk getting burned. So we were finally seated. They were out of tri-tip and salmon, they ran out of ribs, and they ran out of cheesecake and blueberry topping. There were 6 people in our party, and they could only give us one piece of cheesecake and 2 tablespoons of blueberry topping. After they brought the cheesecake, the pizza, which was apparently the only thing left to eat in the restaurant, finally showed up. To the dismay of one of our guests, the wine selection was extremely limited. This place was loud and chaotic. It would be a good place for families and the food was decent, but it was definitely a DIY type of holiday party. It was all family style and there was not really any service. When we asked our waitress about things she pretty much had no clue. We should have turned around and gone somewhere else. Better luck next year. read more

Just had the tri tip dinner for two delivered by Uber Eats, and we are still smiling an hour after finishing. The meat was tender and flavorful, the mashed potatoes were excellent, and the roasted corn was great. A great meal without having to leave home! Plentiful, healthy meal for two around $35--that's my idea of a win. read more

Came here for lunch a few days ago and had the lunch special southwest salad with breadstick with a soda for around $10. The salad was bigger than anticipated! Which in my book isn't a bad thing at all. The salad had lots of good ingredients and tasted fresh. My experience overall was very pleasant. The restaurant is bigger on the inside that I thought it would be and was kept very clean. I was helped by Alex (I think he was a manager as he was wearing a button up shirt) and he directed me to where to get the silverware and extra plates or napkins as it was my first time. He was very hospitable even though it was very busy. Will come back for sure. read more

My husband and I are very disappointed with the service and food. The cashier who took are order could not explain to me the pricing. I gave up and just told him this is what we want. We shared the Baked Rigatoni, Garden Salad and Bread sticks. It was edible but not great. It was expensive and the service was poor. I was told to walk to the back where the sign said an attendant would help us. This where you get the drinks, plates and so forth. You have to wait for one to notice you. Once I walked back to the front where 5 of them where in a meeting to ask if one of them could help me. I also asked to speak to the manager and we told him about the confusing menu and poor food quality. He tried to explain how we got to the total but had nothing to say in regards to the food. We will not be back! read more

I had a good experience to have dinner with my church members...The meal was good with a reasonable price to solve the meal and dessert with coffee as well as a pleasing condition without any border. I ordered to go on Mother's Day and their food did not disappoint! Delicious! My family absolutely enjoyed every part of our meal and it was so flavorful. We ordered the tri tip, half Mesquite BBQ and half Pepper Garlic topped with Gorgonzola Butter, garlic mashed potatoes, breadsticks, their famous fudge brownies, and their incredible carrot cake! To die for!! They have perfected the flavors and I must've been waiting for 5 minutes before they said my order was ready. Awesome experience and I will definitely be back! read more

This was possibly my favorite place in Irvine. I come very often to pick up some tri tip and mashed potatoes. Because I thought hands down the best until today. And some other times but their is only so much you can mess up and not piss off a customer. I'm not only writing for that reason but also because of customer service. You pay their high prices to eat quality and expect them the same in service. Not only was the food dry, cold, watery, just on top of each other but she forgets to give me my drink and utensils. Come on people! The food looked like it was sitting out for a couple of hours. I'm so disappointed I will not be returning anymore. I rather save me $20-30 bucks that I spend every single time. read more

I looked around the restaurant while we ate; it was very busy and active -- and after my recent dining experience, I don't understand the popularity of this long-standing place. Yes, the portions were generous; however, the (supposed) Cobb Salad (served in a stainless steel mixing bowl - it's not just for prep work anymore!) was chopped almost-beyond recognition, and vapid (I don't recall tasting the bleu cheese); even dousing it with additional requested dressing hardly made a difference. Why doesn't one get to select their dressing (I prefer a creamy dressing with what I consider a Cobb salad). I was puzzled when I'd ordered a "petite" salad, but was told they "actually only have small" (why offer the option on the menu?!). The Baked Rigatoni, consisted of very lightly-coated chewy pasta tubes, with at-most a generous tablespoon of meat; once you removed the top layer, sparsely covered with melted cheese, the rest was blaaaahhhnnnd. I heard that the au jus accompanying the French Dip also lacked flavor. The staff was appreciatively pleasant, but they all seemed to be on auto-pilot; they smiled, they ran through their lines (How are you? Can I get you anything else?), but disregarded any questions asked of them. Considering one orders at the counter, gets one's own plates, utensils, napkins, drinks (in small plastic or paper cups), I question why I added such a generous tip to our nearly-$50 bill. Taking home the uneaten portions didn't even enter my mind. I'd recently ordered takeout for a large group (a Crowd Pleaser). Even after confirming the details and expressing the importance of having the order ready at a certain time, my wait time still exceeded 25 minutes. After having ordered takeout for large groups from several places, Stonefire Grill's packaging was the least transfer-friendly; sauces from a couple of dishes had oozed out, resulting in an unattractive and messy presentation when serving at our destination. Good thing I noticed, before leaving, that the plates and utensils were missing. I've never been a huge fan here, but I do recall having had some flavorful items in the past. Was there a management change? A company-wide change? Perhaps I came on an "off" day. Ending on a positive note, the best part about my recent visit, was the breadsticks -- served hot-to-the-touch... and my dining companions. read more

We frequent Stonefire Grill at least 3 times per month and the service is exceptional and the food is fresh and cooked to perfection. Last week I stopped to pick up a Greek Salad from the take out counter and was promptly waited on by Herman and of course He had a big smile on his face as the very first time that He waited on us when this restaurant opened in Brea, Ca.. As long as Stonefire Grill has employees like Herman, we will continue to patronize this awesome restaurant. J.J. Hernandez read more

This place totally exceeded my expectations! When you first walk in, you'll place your order and pre-pay at the front cashier register. Grab a table and wait to be served. The food is delicious and the portions are plentiful. The pizza, baby back ribs and tri-tip are my faves. Prices are affordable and service is good. Save room for one of their many desserts! read more

We came here for lunch after a very long hike. We ordered: Chicken Caesar Salad-Large portion in a bowl! It looked amazing! My friend loved it. She also got me addicted to their homemade garlic Caesar dressing! Chicken pesto sandwich-My friend said it was ok. The bread was tough and there was very little chicken in it. Lemon Half Chicken with side salad-I liked my chicken but it was a bit dry in the middle. I would recommend a side of the garlic Caesar dressing to dip the chicken in. The side salad was good. The breadsticks are really delicious!! BBQ Chicken Wrap-My friend loved the BBQ sauce in it. Service was really good even though the place was packed! I will definitely return to try their other menu items!!! read more

So far been here twice and both times the food was awesome. Recommend the tri tip And the Caesar salad. Even the pizza was pretty good. Sometimes their really packed and its impossible to find a table but there is also plenty of outdoor seating with heaters. read more

Food was amazing like always. The signature stone fire pizza was not too good but the Caesar salad was amazing and the breadsticks was to die for!!! Not to mention the service that was also on point. Oliver, one of the workers, was always ready to help and so was Coytl. Super attentive sweet guy.. seems like the management are on top of the service. First time visiting this stone fire here in fountain valley and I will come back soon. read more

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA!!! I haven't reviewed StoneFire yet?!? Someone remind me to take my crazy pills! Stonefire is one of my favorite destinations for a hearty and gratifying meal at a fair--excuse me, more than fair--price. (I'm just now remembering the portion sizes). If you want pizza or pasta, FORGETTABOUTIT! My signature order is the bbq chicken breast/lemon garlic tri-tip combo with a Greek salad. Stonefire peddles the shit out of their BBQ sauce, but their Gorgonzola spread a.k.a. bleu cheese "butter" is Stonefire's unsung hero. Apply a generous amount to your tri-tip for some thrilling flavors. RECOMMENDATION: To avoid "over-eating" in the practical sense, since pretty much any restaurant gives you a larger portion than you should eat, try to finish only half your salad. Trust me on this one, you'll need the room (and energy) for your meat. If you're the "human trash can"-type, I suggest the Carrot Cake. It tastes sublime. Oh yeah, and it's fucking massive. NEGATIVE: It stinks like shit in front of the entrance, due to what I believe is a sewage drain. Hold your breath as you walk up; I know I do. read more

This food is good. It's located next to chipotle. Typical American food. You come in and order at the front, then they give you a number. You go find your seat and they will bring the food to you. My favorite dish here is the tri tip and the chicken Cobb salad with Bleu cheese dressing! Also, the Stonefire favorite pizza is definitely worth trying. I add pepperoni to mine. Overall, it's never too crowded and you will get full. The price is worth the amount of food they give you. read more

Maybe it's me but I prefer my salad without vegetables cut in such small pieces that it takes so much effort to stab lettuce with my fork. I had the Caesar salad and it was alright to say the best. My coworker also had the same and he wasn't impressed either. The salad was good price for the amount which is a plus. I do have to admit that the eye candy at this place was superb and worth the trip just for that. read more

Imagine the perfect American meal--unlimited bread (well, 18 bread sticks to be exact), oily dressing-drenched salad, a huge mound of cheesy, buttery smooth mashed potatoes, rows and rows of medium cooked tri-tip, a whole grilled chicken (both lemon and honey glazed), and fresh, mayo-soaked coleslaw. If I ate like this every day... Come with a big family, order tons and tons of food, let all of its glory and the fabulous comfort it brings fill up those awkward silences, and take those pictures of lovey dovey extended family and in-laws. Unlike Olive Garden's "When you're here, you're family," Stonefire's should be "When you're here, you're food." A better line, maybe, but the food is authentic and homey, original and extravagant. Too bad our young, high schoolish waiters were a bit on the slow side, forgetting dishes and which orders go where too often to be entirely forgivable. read more

All I have to say is the STIMULUS PACKAGE!! It's a pretty awesome deal. It comes with: chicken, tri tip or ribs A small salad 8 breadsticks Small pizza with 2 toppings For like $26 after tax!! It's pretty good food especially for the price. My bf loved the tri tip with pepper garlic, saying it was really flavorful, juicy and tender. It was apparently better than with the BBQ sauce but that's his preference. The service is pretty good here. Dining in, you order at the counter then seat yourself to be served. The server was attentive and pretty friendly. For takeout, I called in my order while I was on my way there and they were pretty quick with my order once I got there. This is usually our go-to place for groups and catering :) read more

A good solid 3 for well priced food that tasted good. Both my boyfriend and I love their BBQ chopped salad with chicken. One time, we ordered the medium size salad with tri-tip and half a chicken then when home to de-bone the chicken and put the chicken in the salad. YUMMY! I am sad that they don't have creamed corn... How can you not have creamed corn with BBQ. And their beans are bleh. Do not get the beans. read more

Gotta love that Stimulus Package. For $25 after tax, you can feed four reasonably hungry people with salad, breadsticks, pizza, and a protein. It's a great deal AND it's cheap, so what's not to like? Man, I really miss having a Stonefire Grill nearby Surprisingly, nothing in this deal is "meh" quality. Even the starters are impressive. The breadsticks don't just have a wimpy hint of garlic and cheese - they're loaded with them. Make sure to eat them fresh though, you don't deserve anything less than piping hot! I've only tried one of the salads, but that's because caesar is all I need. The dressing has a definite but restrained kick to it that keeps it engaging. This is one of the few places where I'll go for seconds on greens. Things get less interesting with the pizza, but it's still a very welcome addition to the meal. It's actually only 10" and will probably go fast, but at least you can say you got to eat pizza and steak at the same time. The tri-tip is obviously the star of the show, and while it isn't steakhouse quality it's still very good. You get the option of pepper garlic or BBQ sauce dressing, but why choose between them? Go for half and half, your party will be glad you did. Service is top notch. I've always had a great experience at any stage during my pigouts here, and the staff was very accommodating when I was picking up a giant order for work. Great deal, great food, great experience. Every time. EDIT: Oops, pizza is actually 12" :X And yes I think I will try the BBQ chopped salad next time! read more

I would give it 1 star but they were friendly so.... 2 stars... at most. short and sweet... really surprised this place has more than 3 stars food was disappointing. ribs was dry and chewy, couldn't eat half of it chicken was SUPER DRY. didn't eat most of it the best thing was the bread sticks. not worth it. read more

I just finished eating here and it was bomb-diddly-nom!! We got the tri-tip, baby back ribs, garlic mashed potatoes, pesto pasta, and Caesar salad. First of all, the tri-tip was tender and perfectly cooked. The barbecue sauce kicked complimented wonderfully. The baby back ribs melts in your mouth as you barely bite it off the bone. The garlic mashed potatoes were spiced wonderfully and the pesto pasta was rich and delicious. Overall, I'm glad that I got to experience this bbq place. I just wish they had one in the bay area! read more

The fresh breadsticks are what they also serve in heaven with ranch that is made from baby angel tears. #Addicting! The only reason this isn't a 5 star review, is because the ribs are always dry and sometimes the chicken is overcooked. Always ask for fresh breadsticks so you don't get stuck with the old ones that have been sitting under the heat lamp, that become tough. Service is good and one of our favorite spots to visit! read more

I ordered catering from here last week for my company luncheon for 50 people. When my boss told me to order catering, he said "get something nicer than the sandwiches we usually have, and don't order any of that turkey and mashed potato stuff that is more for the holidays. Get something different, and make people feel good (meaning don't skimp out and go cheap." Well! I had quite a challenge in front of me, especially because even when my boss wants me to make things look nice, he still doesn't want me to spend an arm and a leg (as he came back into my office to tell me a couple hours later). I searched the Internet for like 2 hours looking for someplace that would fit the requirements my boss gave me, and also that would have some good veggie options for a few of my coworkers. I found a few places that would work, but they were super expensive. Finally I found Stonefire Grill and hallelujah! We got BBQ tri tip, garlic chicken, pesto pasta salad, bbq beans, marinara pasta, and mac and cheese, plus bread sticks, all for $12/pp. Such an awesome price! And let me tell you, the food was AMAZING! The girl delivered the food right on time and set it all up in our lunch room to look great. She mixed some of the pastas and sauces right there on the spot. And when everybody came in to eat, let me tell you, ALL 50 people were going "mmmm oooh yummm mmmm this is so good omg mmmmmmm the tri tip cuts so easily omg where did you get this it's so good let's get this for every lunch mmm I'm going here with my family mmmm this is so good!" The lunch was a TOTAL success, my boss thought it cost WAY more than it did and when he found out the price he was so happy and it was just an excellent catering experience. This company is wonderful and they will be getting ALL of our catering business in the future! I want to come eat here with my bf now for dinner! Excellent!!!! read more

What an amazing restaurant. We had the following dishes catered to us: tritip beef strips, smoky marinated chicken, caesar salads, and breadsticks. I ordered from the catering menu last night for 10 ladies for a get together. I usually cook, but decided to outsource. I kept it simple: half pan BBQ chicken salad (perfect), 2 doz. breadsticks, and the best chocolate brownies. The brownies are the best! I cut them all in half and told everyone where I got them, because I could have passed them off as homemade. On time, correct order, and tasted good. The cost was quite reasonable too. Thank you! read more

Currently eating my leftovers from take out I got for the family last night on the way home from work. Picked up Caesar salad, Mesquite BBQ Boneless Chicken Breast, Breadsticks, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and two full rack of ribs. I asked for extra Caesar dressing and the take-out cashier obliged with a pleasant attitude. When I got home, the ribs were not in with the order so we called back and Sarah was nice enough to refund the amount of the ribs and still let me go back and pick them up. That made my sister and Mom happy as they truly enjoy the ribs. The Caesar and breadsticks are a perfect way to start a meal. The garlic mashed potatoes are always great to eat with the mesquite BBQ chicken and I could eat it everyday. read more

Not sure what happened to the Stonefire we once loved? Ordered take out of the tri tip for 2 meal. The meat was bland and was not cooked to medium as requested. Very disappointing Stonefire and probably will not waste my money again! read more

Food is good but the management is atrocious. I've been coming here since they opened. Although service has never been their strength, we come here because the food is good and easy for our kids. I felt compelled to write a review after numerous negative experiences in the past couple of months: - in two successive visits, I ordered the tortilla soup. In both cases, 15 minutes had passed and I still had not received the soup. In both cases, the manager half-heartily apologized and told me that was not the norm. The second time it happened, I mentioned to the manager that it had taken this long the previous time as well. Again, he apologized and promised to "take care of it." I never heard from him again. - the "family value" loyalty program is useless. After checking my recent visits on their website, I found that 2 out of 3 visits were not being credited. This is even after I confirmed with the cashier that they had swiped my loyalty card. The last time there, I even pointed out to them that they did not properly credit my purchase while still standing at the register. The manager stated that the transaction was complete and that there was nothing he could do. I would have to email corporate HQ to request credit. If you offer a loyalty program, you should be able to execute it successfully. These people clearly don't understand that. Just look to CPK or Chick-fil-A to see how successful loyalty programs are managed and operated. In all of my interactions with management, I have walked away feeling unappreciated with no sense of deference on their part. It's a real shame. read more

I came here for the first time a few weeks ago even though I have known about the place for years. I had the Tri-Tip Lunch Portion (which I believe is 6 oz.). Even though it doesn't sound like much, it was actually a very nice size portion of meat (I got half Barbecue, half Pepper Garlic - both were very good), mashed potatoes, and a breadstick. The tri-tip was perfectly done - I asked for Medium and it was just right. Slightly red and very tender and juicy. Would love to come back again and try something else! read more
