I've been coming here since 2019. It's always so fresh and the service is always pretty fast! During the work week this place is packed during lunch hour and even before and after. I'm so glad the are open on the weekends now. I work weekends so I love that I can come here for lunch. Shout out to Jose! I met him today and he told me he has been working here for 11 years now. He is the cook and also helps out in the front as a cashier. He prepped all the soups and salads and sandwiches. he is so hard-working! He has great customer service as well. He's the best! The restaurant is well kept and super clean! There is ample parking right outside, but it does get chaotic during the work week during primetime lunch hours. I dropped in last week and picked up one of their salads. It was late in the afternoon and the chef was there to help me. I ordered a Sundance Salad and added chicken. It was amazing. The cost was very reasonable. The ingredients were very fresh and tasty. I have not tried their soups or other items but from the reviews, they are high quality. There was a Croutons on UCSD's campus about 11 years ago and when they got rid of it, I was gutted! I thought I lost my go-to spot for good, fresh salads, sandwiches, and ultimate favorite soup! WRONG! I moved back up to LA/OC county and realized they have a location in Irvine! I missed it so much. Their chicken wild rice soup is beyond great and so delicious! And their brownie bites are just to die for. The service was very nice, even handling a lunch rush in Irvine's busy business area. Croutons is a solid lunch option if you are in the John Wayne airport area. The restaurant offers a variety of different salads and also sandwiches. I have never ordered a sandwich here as I have always come for the salads. A couple of my favorite salads are the barbecue chicken salad and the Cobb salad. They are very good portioned. I sometimes have one salad for both lunch and dinner. The barbecued chicken in particular is very tasty and has good flavor. The Cobb salad is just loaded with toppings. Their dressings are also good. The restaurant could get very busy so if you want to order ahead, that is a good idea. Easy parking. Good service. Casual and indoor and outdoor seating is available. This is a great lunch spot during the work week. I love that all the food is real, no processed crap. In a world without a lot of healthy quick service options, this is my go to when I'm in the area. Service is fast, usually about 10 minutes and that's pretty consistent regardless of how busy they are. Everything on the menu is good quality and fresh. I am DONE with Croutons. The staff is weird, lazy and unprofessional. The signs on the door and hours posted online say that they close at 7 PM. Not true - I seriously believe that they just close whenever they feel like it. I went there yesterday to grab a salad at 4:45 PM and the doors were locked - the guy inside pointed at the hours on the door which clearly say they close at 7 PM and just shrugged and walked away. This is really inconvenient and disappointing, especially when planning lunch/dinner around their listed hours. I've now driven over an hour to this location on two separate occasions during its posted business hours only to find it closed early both times. The first time was Super Bowl Sunday, a day when many people are already planning food around a specific schedule. There was no sign on the door, no update online, and no explanation. When a restaurant advertises specific hours, customers should be able to rely on them especially on a major event day when timing matters. Closing early without notice shows a lack of consideration for the people who plan their time and spend their money based on that information. Two wasted trips, gas, and time later, it's difficult to see this as anything other than poor management of basic business operations. If there are staffing issues or adjusted holiday hours, that should be clearly communicated. I would welcome a public response from management explaining what's happening and whether the posted hours can be trusted moving forward. read more

I had the balsamic chicken salad for lunch yesterday and it was very good. Croutons gives you a nice portion of white meat chicken and plenty of baby greens. Reasonable pricing menu. My office ordered lunch for 15 people today and I also ordered another salad bc I wanted to try something else from their menu, but unfortunately I didn't make it to the office, so I missed it. Nothing fancy about the food. But I do recommend getting the sandwich+soup combo. The sandwich itself is bland and dry, but the soup helps diversify the flavor and texture, making the meal easier to consume. Friendly, helpful staff. We had ordered online. The order was ready fast. When we arrived, we didn't know to cut straight to the cashier counter. There's no sign saying to do so, no banner saying where online orders meet. A clear sign would've prevented the confusion. Great place for salads as they have a variety and they have two sizes-small and regular sized. The prices are decent. We opted for the salad & sandwich combo and this combo comes with the small sized salad which was a good portion for lunch for one person. Everything tasted good and combo prices range fron $12 to $15 depending what you get. Their sandwiches are good as well but was smaller portion than I expected. I would come back if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I ordered a Thai Spice Salad and was disappointed. It for the most part a big bowl of romaine lettuce. If there was napa cabbage in it, there was so little you couldn't taste it. Nor did I taste any celery. The toppings were sprinkled on top which was enough for about half the lettuce. It wasn't a complete waste of time as the dressing was amazing. They are located in the same plaza as Paderia, 7 Eleven, Cluck Kitchen and Poke Dot. In general this plaza is decent for a group lunch spot. There was an intimidating long line, but it moved really quickly. And the food was prepared in a timely manner. I have the utmost respect for places that have operational efficiency like this. I ordered a regular size Anna's Spring Chicken Salad ($11.75) which comes with romaine and spring mix, diced chicken, cranberries, green apples, glazed walnuts, substituted the blue cheese for mozzerella cheese with no issues, poppy seed vinaigrette on the side. I also added Avocado (additional $2). The salad was well packaged and it transported well back to my office. It was tasty and filling, while still feeling overall healthy.
