My wife and I were in Santa Ana, looking for a place to have lunch and had decided to try a competitor, Santa Ana Brunch Club (please, don't go there). It was 1:15pm when we arrived, we were greeted at the door, dude told us the kitchen was already closed for the day, that's funny?, they are supposed to be open until 2:00pm. HIS LOSS, OUR GAIN. We got really lucky when we found Plumper Pickle instead. We were greeted promptly, he gave us a few minutes to look over the good sized menu, (prices are very reasonable here) he took our order, delivered our sandwiches to our table outside (brought extra napkins, asked if we needed anything else), all with a genuine smile on his face. It said, "thanks for coming in, I appreciate your business, please come again." Great customer service, really delicious food and plenty of tables outside or in. This time I got the grilled chicken on the sourdough was served with a delicious pickle. I got some jalapeño chips and a Diet Coke. Most people who go here seem to be in the know--they've been around for a while for a reason, I'm guessing. If you're tired of getting hosed for unsatisfying $25-a-head business lunches at overcrowded bistros, this place is a breath of fresh air. James at the front always makes sure everyone is taken care of no matter how busy they are. Real class act, don't see too many of his type in the food industry post-COVID.
