My husband used to frequent this sandwich place 20+ years ago. It had been quite some time and we were in the area so we stopped in. We got two different sandwiches and split them. They were both good but I preferred the turkey. My husband got a small macaroni and potato salad which he said was just eh/ok. I'd eat there again and try a different sandwich. read more

I got a BLT and they gave me so much bacon on my sandwich , this place was so bomb but it was a turn off once I saw an eyelash and dirt on the lettuce when I started opening it up. I was going to give 5 stars but I can't get pass the lash and the dirt on the lettuce and they had Christian music so I'll give u a star for that. Came here with my wife for lunch a few weeks ago and it was great. Staff was really friendly too. The sandwiches were big and juicy and came with a huge pickle spear. I can't believe I have not reviewed this place yet!! I don't come here often because it's not close to my house or work but every time I do it's perfect!!! So delicious!! Every sandwich is great. This time I got the grilled chicken on the sourdough was served with a delicious pickle. I got some jalapeño chips and a Diet Coke. The restaurant is spotless super clean and the service is on point even when they're really busy you get your food pretty fast if you're looking for a sandwich this is definitely your place. I'm gonna talk to my Work and see if we could start catering from here because the prices for catering seem very reasonable and the food is better than any catering we get. read more

Perfect little spot for a quick breakfast burrito! It has the perfect ratio of potato, bacon, cheese and eggs. I asked for green sauce was seemed freshly made and thick. When I need a casual offbeat place to meet someone for coffee or for a working lunch, this is a winner. As Sandwich shops go the food. Here is top notch. Great selection of sandwiches and different types of soup each day. The Owner is extremely friendly and courteous, and the restaurant is as needed as a pin. It isn't fancy but it gets the job done when you're hungry and don't need a wine list with your lunch. read more

Been wanting to try this spot for a while, but the hours just don't work for me. Tried the special of the day, which had BBQ sauce, chicken, and cheddar. My son ordered the submarine, and both were delicious. The person taking our order was friendly and attentive. The inside is bigger than expected, and the parking lot gets full fairly quickly. Was in the area and needed something quick and this place sure paid off. Good variety of sandwiches but not so many it takes forever to decide. Fresh lettuce and bread , plenty of turkey and all reasonably priced. Came in around noon and there were many who picked up online orders and it was about half full but my sandwich still came out a lot quicker than I expected. Absolutely brilliant sandwiches: quality and variety of ingredients, fresh bread, and at a great price. The West Coast in general is highly lacking in virtuous sandwich shops, but this one makes up for it. I highly recommend a salami on sourdough, and a co-worker recommends the clam chowder soup. You really can't go wrong with anything here, though. It's in an industrial area, but still off a major thoroughfare. Most people who go here seem to be in the know--they've been around for a while for a reason, I'm guessing. If you're tired of getting hosed for unsatisfying $25-a-head business lunches at overcrowded bistros, this place is a breath of fresh air. James at the front always makes sure everyone is taken care of no matter how busy they are. Real class act, don't see too many of his type in the food industry post-COVID. Love this place, will continue to come back--a mainstay if you work near the Irvine Industrial Complex, or want to kill time before your 55 freeway commute. read more

4 1/2 stars, Hands-down the top of the mountain, the best of the best chicken salad sandwich you'll ever eat in your life. Do you know how chicken salad is always leftover chicken so when you eat it it's kind of like the chicken is a day or two old and has that flavor to it? This is the complete opposite it tasted like literally somebody was in the back cooking fresh chickens specifically for this chicken salad. And on the pumpernickel bread with homemade mayonnaise that was a thick as cream cheese with those wonderful tomatoes, sprouts and lettuce? The only negative is they needed to have a thicker spread. Gas. Groceries. Flights. "Value" meals. It seems like these days, as prices continue ever higher, the bang for the proverbial buck soars continuously lower. NOT HERE. NOT AT THE PICKLE!!! Yes, I paid a bit more than I did 5 years ago, but not by much. Yet, the quality of the food, to me, is SO much better than before! Not that it was bad, but I didn't think it was possible to be even tastier and awesome -- yet here we are! My return to PP brought me to the INCREDIBLE tuna melt and oh so precious Italian meat-filled Submarine sandwich. Both are special and delicious in their own way -- the tuna melt has sundried tomatoes!!! S U N D R I E D T O M A T O E S. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh The Submarine had to be put off for the next day -- and that beautiful day is today! I am enjoying it so much that I had to put it down and write this update. Their potato salad is to DIE FOR. And, at this point, I, too, am wondering how many more expressions of admiration/appreciation I can conjure up at this point. The service is swift and friendly, the parking lot and dining area are slightly small but it IS a lunchtime specialty shop, so it goes with the territory. I love you, Pumper Pickle. read more

Quality Food, Quality Service, clean environment. Seems like a small business that values their customers. This is the type I really love supporting and reviewing because they are service and quality oriented, take pride in their establishment, and deserving of recognition. I went in today for the first time, after discovering it while searching for a place with "healthy lunch options" near me. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and welcoming. Not in an obnoxious way, but just seems like a kind person. The place was clean, pleasant, and inviting. Large comfortable seating area can accomodate a group lunch easily. I ordered the Healthy Tuna sandwich, a fruit cup, and a cafe latte. The coffee was delicious. FRESH, Rich and Robust, not burnt tasting, not watered down, not old. Very good. The healthy tuna sandwich did not disappoint at all. It was colorful, fresh, and packed with deliciousness. It was appealing to the eye, as well as the tummy. unfortunately it was gone before I could take pics, but there are plenty of pics from others if you wanted to search. Seriously, really good food. The quality and freshness of ingredients used really shows. the fruit cup (12oz cup I believe) was also nice and freshly prepared. The price point is right around $10 for a nice hearty sandwich/wrap/salad (plenty of variety to choose from), and you can up it to a combo with chips and a drink for $3 more. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a simple lunch, tired and over fast food, and wanting quality ingredients and great service. read more

You can really tell that a lot of care goes into the food here. I also had the chance to speak with the manager, and her passion for what she does truly stands out. She talked about constantly thinking of new ideas for the menu and making sure everything offered feels intentional and thoughtfully selected. That level of dedication really shows in the quality of the food and the overall experience. I'll definitely be coming back. The total came to $17 and some change, not bad about the avg for the area and any lunch.
