Family restaurant for value. That's really what this place is about. Look around and there are a lot of kids under 9 years old and people over 35. Not a whole lot in between. Great "family favorite" value package for under $60. The menu says it feeds 6 but if you're not "huge" eaters, it could feed up to 8 reasonably well. Food was good. Comes with a large salad, bread sticks, choice of 16" pizza or two sides, and tri-tip or ribs. You MUST get bbq sauce with the tri-tip. It's underseasoned and a bit dry. Otherwise a fairly decent experience and plenty of food. read more

Came here for a lunch special. Got 4oz of bbq chicken and 4oz of bbq tri-tip with a petite cartwheel salad and 1 breadstick for shy of $11. Their tri-tip cooked medium is amazing. Very tender but 4oz is not a whole lot. They do weigh out all their meats exactly so do not expect to get more than what you paid for. I am not a salad person but I love their cartwheel salad. They have tortilla chips, olives, beets, and radishes in there over some basil oil vinaigrette which tastes amazing. I come here when I am craving meat and don't need a whole lot of carbs. read more

This is my 1st review of this place but not my 1st time eating here. I give it 5 stars because every time I've ate here, the experience has always been good - along with the fresh food! I've come here in a small group & also with a large group. This last time however, I did take out. I ordered through this Yelp app on my phone & it was so easy & convenient. They even give you a time of when it will be ready. I ordered a lot of food that totaled about $100. Brought my 18 month old boy with me. Luckily I got parking really close so that I could go back & forth with my order ( I knew I would have a few bags). When I got there, my order was ready & waiting. The guy who rang me up offered to help my to my car & I thought that was great! Maybe because he saw I was pregnant w/ a toddler & there were 4 large bags of food! I ordered a whole tri tip, rack of ribs, breadsticks, large pesto pasta, large Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, a caprese sandwich, a grilled chicken pesto sandwich & a whole brownie (treat for myself). For all the food we got, I think the price was really good! The food is always good here & never disappoints. Fresh ingredients, tasty, healthy & hearty as well. The customer service is great too read more

Good food for the price. We got the stimulus package for $24.99 and added a large bowl of tortilla soup. Definitely enough for leftovers. The tri tip wasn't as good as yelp had lead me to believe, but the tortilla soup was great. I'll opt for the chicken next time. Good first impression overall though. Recommended. read more

Just picked up a mobile order. Got home and my side dish was missing and no silverware or napkins. Not a huge deal, but disappointing. Not like I'm gonna drive all the way back for my side dish. I guess I should have checked, but how hard is it for them to just ensure that everything ordered is in bag. It was even checked off on the receipt that it was with the order. Just poor management I guess. Not sure if I will go back again. read more

Yum, food here is BOMB! Thought this place would be more likeWoodranch but it was much more casual. My friend, fellow yelper Suji Chung (wish I could tag like I could on fb), and I came here to eat on the way back to Cerritos from San Di ego. Got the special, which included the 6 garlic breads, small salad (which wasn't so small), and a full rack of ribs (for about $26). You can substitute the full rack of ribs for some tri-tip and pizza. The ribs were aiiiiiiiite, Phil's is much much better (which we decided not to eat because the line was super long!) We got the tri tip salad which was BOMB. I ate more of that than I did the ribs! But I will still give it 5 stars because I like that it's not a formal restaurant where you gotta leave tip and all. And I normally wouldn't have gotten the ribs at a non-rib-speciality place. read more

We LOVE Stonefire Grill. My only complaint is that there isn't one a little closer to us in Yorba Linda! We came here very often back when we were attending UC Irvine - and nothing has changed. Same friendly employees, same delicious food - and those BREADSTICKS. MAN OH MAN. My favorite thing on the menu. Give me a BBQ Salad and two breadsticks and I am in food heaven. They have lots more individual servings now but family meals are the way to go, IMO. Tri-tip and BBQ chicken breast top my list. Pizza is pretty good, too. Grilled or BBQ chopped salad are also favorites of ours. Very casual ambiance here but it's a great place to take small kids and large groups! read more

disappointed. been going to the west hills, chatsworth, and thousand oaks location for nearly 2 decades, would say I get a 5 star experience consistently through the years. so, i didn't think a first visit to the irvine location would lead me to a ...'I wasted my money' moment. but, sh*t happens, as the saying goes. this store was not as busy as the above mentioned locations. normally, those restaurants are running full tilt during prime dinning hours and weekends. I would normally expect to wait in a line to pay for my called-in orders because those stores are that busy; not the case for this spot. I went during lunch time -weekend, this place was at 80 to 90% full. so not too bad. but, what bothers me is the staff didn't seem to be very enthusiastic and did not display the thoroughness and standard set by their sister stores... especially, when it is not as busy as those locations. the quality of the ingredients are good here but they don't handle/cook the food to a level i had expected from a stonefire... it came to a point where I wished I walked out of the restaurant when a staff member gave me a little attitude for correcting my order. but, I don't like to waste food so gotta eat it. read more

I've seen this place many times while going to Target. The building has a distinct classy look to it, but it's nothing like that. Think Corner Bakery with more than just sandwiches. The food is okay, but I remember being drawn to the vegetarian wrap. Wrong move. I just read eggplant and think that the highlighted ingredient is eggplant. Instead, I got a burrito looking thing with a ton of bell peppers. Filler crap. That said, I've always enjoyed other people's food. Worth a third or fourth try, but I'm keeping my review at a firm 3 stars. read more

Looking for the largest salad you've ever ordered? Look no further. Barbecue chicken salad - which I don't even like usually - is great. As far as the restaurant itself? Meh. And the selection and variety and true dining experience? Meh. Get it to go, you're just as well off. If you want to feed a family of four on a salad, order a medium. read more

Update: My work ordered this place for lunch today. I tried the Italian chopped salad and the breadsticks. The salad was quite good actually. In total, we ordered 2 big salads, 2 bbq sandwiches, 1 pizza and probably 30-40 breadsticks and it more than satisfied 13 adults. We had food leftover. I would suggest not using all the dressing however, because I'm guessing it may get overwhelming then. We used about half the container. ______________________________________________________ I like this place actually. I'm quite fond of the tri-tip. I usually get it medium rare, and they usually cook it perfectly. I've gotten the medium too (because my boyfriend is squeamish) and that came out pretty tender too. When we order pasta and salad, we find that the smaller order of the tri-tip is adequate. I'm quite fond of the bbq sauce they serve too. It's definitely not from the grocery store. I like the fact that the pasta comes in pesto. Pat and Oscar's doesn't do pesto. The bowl is quite sizeable and it's a great filler to go with the meal. I find the salads to be "eh" at best. The caesar is okay, but not outstanding. It's the eat before the real meal kind of salad. I like the self-serve part of it. I hate being the customer who keeps asking for sauce, soda, plates, boxes, etc. and this place allows me to fulfill my needs without being annoying. It's funny people-watching the customers who don't understand this concept. They either sit at a table with a menu, confused, or they ask their servers to get the utensils and stuff. Hilarious. This isn't like an upscale steakhouse or anything, and I'm certainly not grading it on that scale. But for the type of place they're aiming for, it's pretty good. read more

I really weirdly like this place. There is something super awesome about a place that has a lot of comfort food that is 2 blocks from my house. It is made even more awesome that I can call and place my order and by the time I get there the food is ready for me to take home and eat watching tv. I obviously love the convenience of this place, but the food keeps bringing me back. The garlic chicken is sooo good. I love garlic and lots of it, so it is perfect to me. It is always tender and juicy. The breadsticks are like garlic pretzels. Yum! The garlic mashed potatoes are my favorite thing here. I could eat a tub. Some of my other favorites include the fiesta salad (which comes in the big tostada shell), the roasted corn, and the tri tip. My boyfriend loves the pizza here. Definitly a great casual place to go. Something on the menu for everyone. read more

This restaurant is corner bakery / panera / daphne's / pat and oscar's (order food and take a number - dining) style but BETTER because the quality of the meat is REALLY GOOD and NOT DRY. Every time I go to Pat and Oscar's their meat is dry!!! But not so with Stonefire Grill. I had the tri tip (BBQ flavor) and chicken (lemon garlic). Both were moist and still sizzling on the metal plate they arrived in. I'd recommend this place for groups (large birthday, going away, whatever) especially since it wasn't too busy for a friday night. They don't take reservations but you can just grab some tables together, pay up front and not worry about a messy bill afterwards. Plus it's self serve for drinks, napkins, plates and to go boxes so once you're done eating.. no waiting 20 mins for a bill and 10 mins more for those to go boxes. Caesar salad side was decent and breadsticks were doughy (which is what I liked about it). But hands down their meat is their forte!!! We will go again soon. I would probably split and individual combo next time and try more sides. read more

I really want to give this place 2 stars, but alot of people enjoy this place. I am personally not a fan I can live without it. If you are going to come here though, get the tri-tip & chicken. They also have healthy alternatives, which is why alot of people come here. read more

This place is great. I came here for lunch. The first time ordered a nice size personal pizza and a side salad for 6 bucks. You can order a drink for $1. The salad completely filled me up, and I had the pizza later in the day. The second time I went here, I just went with an asian chicken salad, also $6. It was a really good size, and tasted really fresh. The food came quick and everyone was really nice. And the place was really clean. I will be back here. read more

Stonefire Grill is like a fusion between Lucille's BBQ and Boston Market. It has amazing BBQ type food at a decent price. Food: I tried their 10th year anniversary special which comes with tri-tip, chicken, 3 ribs, one side, and 2 bread sticks. Amazing. Very good flavor. All of this sold for $10 which is an excellent price and a good way to try different dishes. Service: At this restaurant, you basically order at the counter and then they deliver it to your table. Overall, the service was ok. I asked for suggestions and the server was able to point me in the right direction however he unfortunately couldn't tell me how things tasted. His response was that he had never tried that before. I look for not only a knowledgeable waiter but also one who can make recommendations based on past experience. Bottom Line: The food is great for the price. I would recommend this place if you are just looking for something casual. It is a step above fast food but probably not on the same level as a good restaurant. read more

Unfortunately I have to knock a few stars off of Stonefire Grill. I feel their quality has slipped in the last few years. The last 2 or 3 times I've had their chicken, it had a mealy/mushy texture and the flavor was a little off. The sitdown experience is also less than desirable, after having a few work-sponsored lunches here. I can really only recommend them for takeout, and even then the quality is a little hit and miss. read more

I love this place. Although I usually dont eat here, its perfect for a weekday togo dinner. The breadsticks are bomb. The tri tip (recommend bbq) is nice and juicy. The bbq salad is very very good. I love places like this that provide good, fresh and healthy (semi) food for a reasonable price. With large groups, you def. cant beat the deal here. read more

This is a review for the catering only (I haven't eaten at the actual restaurant yet). I ordered from here for a party of about 15 people and was really happy with them! I got "Stonefire's Best" and had the chicken, tri tip, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, southwest salad, breadsticks, and carrot cake. Everything was already in a serving dish which made things so easy for me. Everything was really tasty. The meat was tender and seasoned just right. The mac and cheese was my favorite! The salad was fresh. The carrot cake was To.Die.For. I'll definitely be using them again for future parties. At about $12 per person, you really can't even cook for cheaper than that! read more

I made a cater order for 50-60 people and the late lunch meal turned out wonderful! I've never been to Stonefire Grill until someone suggested it to me for the church event catering. When I walked into the restaurant, the manager friendly welcomed me and gave me more than enough information that I needed for catering. They were VERY helpful and positive. It's very similar to Pat & Oscars but the food is so much better here. The breadsticks are their "must-try"s. Tri tips were really good too! I went there again with about 6-7 other friends and we all came out the restaurant really full after paying $6-7/person! some people might be complaining because the ordering is a little awkward. You wait in line and order as if you're ordering McDonald's. You gotta understand that this is not a full service restaurant. It's like Pat & Oscars. read more

I use to come with the boyfriend here for some good tri tip, ceasar sald and breadsticks... and have now found a new location by where I live (came upon it unexpectedly and am very happy about it) also... if your salad is a little dry you can also ask for extra dressing... one time it seemed like they forgot to put any dressing in our salad this meal does feed two easily... we get the tri tip medium and with the bbq sauce I have had the lemon chicken which is also very yummy overall this place makes me happy when I want some meat and am too lazy to cook or to cheap to go to a full on waiter type dinner read more

Your typical grill/BBQ joint located in a busy plaza in Irvine. +Huge menu. You have your salads, your sides, and of course your meats (chicken, fish, beef, etc.). If you're not in the mood for that you can also go for sandwiches or pizza. +You pay before you're seated. I like this because if you're grabbing a bite with coworkers you don't have to worry about splitting the check. +Fairly big. There were plenty of spots to sit even when it was peak hrs at lunch time. +Parking is doable. It can get crowded but since it's a big plaza, you'll just have to park a little further. +Price. It's not cheap but it's standard for the area. -Food is nothing spectacular, but decent. Meats are tender, sides are okay, can't really complain but can't really rave about it. -Service was meh. Half our party had a good experience and the other half did not. They messed up on their order and their food did not come after 45 minutes. Finally we asked them about it and they seemed confused. After 10-15 more minutes of discussion the manager straightened it out but he wasn't apologetic or sorry. read more

This is a self service restaurant where you get your own utensils, napkins, drinks and plates. Ordering is done at the front register. The restaurant is spacious, and friendly, but too casual. I love their foods, mostly had it catered, never tried at the restaurant. This was the first time. I didnt like the experience. I felt like i had to get everything by myself, kinda like in my own kitchen. It was my friends birthday and she decided she wants to celebrate her bdy at this restaurant. We all dressed up and wanting to feel like we are at a restaurant. The foods great, but we didnt get a lot of service. The table was not cleared right away, we had to ask the waiter if he cud help us clear it off, so my friend cud blow her candles. read more

Lemon/Garlic salmon was much better than expected. Small salad was more than enough to share for 2. French Dip sandwich was so-so. Good service. read more

Stonefire bbq chopped salad is one of my new favorite salad. It's not a regular chop salad they put quinoa, roasted corn, cabbage, cilantro, tomato, bbq chicken with greens and buttermilk dressing. Not heavy on the dressing either, just the perfect amount. Garlic breadsticks are fantastic yumm!! Carb heaven. Margherita pizza is nice and thin. Eat it while it's hot the crust is awesome!! Took the left over pizza home and it wasn't as fantastic as eating it right out of the oven of course. Pulled pork sandwich was ok but not that crazy about it. It was moist and covered with bbq sauce but it felt like something was missing... I think the sandwich bread overwhelmed the pulled pork for me. Definitely coming back. read more

Like Pat and Oscar's.....except it is pretty good. Had a spinach salad that wasn't bad. Was told next time I need to get it in a wrap because I get the wrap and a container of extra salad. The ideal restaurant to get a value meal for your family. Came here one day with my brother and mom and ordered the family meal for about $30. Now with this came, 1 pound of nicely cooked, juicy tri-tip, 12 breadsticks(amazing), mashed potatoes, and a huge bowl of salad to share. Now the menu says this meal feeds 4, but it can actually feed up to 6 people. Now lets review the food: Tri-tip - Perfect amount of rareness and nice and juicy. We go the lemon garlic seasoning and it was perfect and didnt take away too much from the flavor of the meat. Breadsticks- Best breadsticks ever. And they give you 12! Mashed Potatoes - These were well-made mashed potatoes with lots of garlic and butter which i loveedd. But compared to the amount of breadsticks and salad they give, the amount of potatoes was fairly small. Caesar Salad - This isn't the best salad i've had, but they sure give ALOT. The caesar dressing had lots of chopped garlic pieces mixed in. So much that it made my tongue tingle with every bite! As for the atmosphere and seating, the restaurant is really big and has spacious tables and outdoor seating. Most of the things are self-served such as plates, and to-go boxes and what not. read more

I love, love their carrot cake! It's about $7 but it's huge and can fed about 3-4 people. YUMMY!!! We got their recession special which was $25. It came with breadsticks, choice of salad, pizza and one more entrée. Pretty good price to feed 3-4 people. I love their BBQ brisket. The meat is soft and melts in your mouth. It was pretty busy on a week night for dinner, but we found a table quickly and service was great. It was loud and noisy, prefect to bring our loud and fussy little boy. There were tons of other noisy families with kids there so we fit in great! read more

Food is tasty, and the service is decent. I'm not a huge fan of the stone fire "order it at a bar" methodology, but this place is a good example of that chain. I've tried a few of their dishes, and my favourite by far is the petite tritip with salad. The steak seems to be cooked to order, comes with a cheesy butter and is very well seasoned. I've found their chicken a bit flabby and disappointing in the past, hence switching to beef. They also have a decent selection of local and generic beers and wines, unusual for a mid-level chain. And they give you free bread sticks, if that's your style! read more

Seems like all the workers and managers here are clueless as to what's going on. I don't mean to be rude but I literally am standing at the front desk waiting for someone to help me while so many workers just look at me and keep waking past like nobody is there for them to help. Most of them aren't even doing anything but choose not to help me. This is ridiculous read more

Interesting place this grill they call Stonefire! After the reviews on Yelp I just HAD to try it out. Good thing a fellow Yelper was down to meet me in Irvine! Had no idea the place was of the kind that you order at a register and take a number, usually food from those kind of places is lackluster...but not so at SG! The individual meals are a great deal, protein, choice of salad, and bread sticks... Dinner buddy and I got the tri tip and the lemon chicken. both were VERY savory and satisfying! Next time I'll be trying the salmon! Great Place for a casual dinner or a lunch with friends! read more

The food here is pretty good across the entire menu. From salmon, to tri-tip, there isn't anything I don't like. Even the pizza is delicious. The only problem is it can get a bit expensive if you are going for diversity, so try to take advantage of their combos if you can. For the sugar/carb/oil conscious, get the garlic pepper instead of the bbq sauce, and even better, ask for it on the side (especially if you are ordering the garlic salmon/chicken... it can be quite oily if you don't get it on the side). pro-tip: On a budget? Order the 'small' (NOT petite... you want the small size) BBQ chopped salad (with chicken or tri-tip). Even though it's advertised as a 'small' size, this thing can feed at least 2 people, and probably 3, and it's about $10, and DELICIOUS. Seriously one of the best salads ever, and for size vs. price vs. quality, this thing is the best bargain in OC. read more

One of my favorite restaurants to go to when I come home! Three of us split a big special for $36 that included a pizza, salad, tri-tip, and 8 breadsticks. We ended up also adding a small bowl of mac and cheese on the side too. We obviously took home left overs cause there was so much food, but it was so delicious! Definitely worth going :) the only thing I don't care much for is their pizza, but everything else is amazing. read more

3.5 -- I think I'm being harsh today. It was dinnertime and pretty crowded, but we were seated pretty quickly. I had the combination tomato and pesto pasta dish. No, they didn't dunk both sauces on pasta -- it's two kinds next to each other. Very delicious, and the personal size is plenty. I generally find the pizza at Stonefire to be kind of bland and dry, but their breadsticks and pasta are worth a try. The salads are kind of hit-or-miss, but err on the side of getting smaller than you think you need, because those bowls are deceiving. I ordered ranch dressing, which was way watered down. Oh, and the carrot cake is pretty good, too. read more

Well it was a bad night... We were craving for Baby Ribs so we came to Stonefire... It was 7:50pm on a Sunday night... We were so excited to try out this 4 stars place and ready to order 3 Full rack of Ribs... She said yeah no more. I was like okay it sound super awkward, I thought it was a joke as it was not too late into the night. She was very short so we thought she was joking or stuff. Anyhow, I asked so you don't have more ribs for the night? She said "I guess"... What the heck?! Sorry but we did not really comprehend her attitude and left the place. Really??!!! Sigh... read more

There isn't much to report about this place. It's clean, the food is tasty but mediocre. They have a really nice outside seating area but my partner and I were about as underwhelmed as you can get. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, and a "works" pizza. The pulled pork had a delicious barbecue sauce, but the meat was extremely fatty, and it was off putting. The garlic mashed potatoes had good flavor but tasted similar to boxed. The works pizza was tasty, but on the same level a frozen pizza is tasty when you get it nice and crispy and toss on some fresh veggies. Tl;dr: Nothing to write home about, but nothing bad either. read more

My friends and I LOVE this place. Two of us care in for dinner and catching up (which means we could camp at a spot for a minute...) and Jacob D. took great care of us. He took our order, checked to make sure we had everything we needed, brought us boxes (which you usually go grab yourself), and he kept our table clean!! They were having a pretty busy night but every time he came to our table it didn't feel like he was in a rush. Highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner or even drinks and dessert!! read more

Since my last review, Stonefire has become our family's goto spot. I want to take back some of the things I said in my original review as they have repeatedly proven their excellence. They offer consistently great food with high quality ingredients. Price is very reasonable considering each item is meant to be shared among 2~4 people. Ding room is huge with more than enough tables and booth seats. What I have grown to like the most about Stonefire is that the noise level inside is just right that it is loud enough that your kids screaming won't bother other people much, BUT not loud enough that it would bother people trying to have private meal. If I must point it out, doors to patio may need some work. They are positioned in a way that whenever they are swung open, gust of wind would leave you shivering when you are sitting inside. It's not a major issue if you are positioned closer to the kitchen, but we try to sit as close to the patio-side wall to stay away from other people to minimize annoyance our kids may cause for others. read more
