Unfortunately, I didn't discover this place until my third year at UCI. One of my friends, who I only see on rare occasions, suggested we go to this place for lunch. I'm disappointed in myself for not coming here sooner. He recommended the BBQ Chopped Salad with Tri Tip. I ordered the lunch special BBQ Chopped Salad with Tri Tip, which also comes with a breadstick, and was blown away by both. The salad was loaded with many tasty ingredients, from cilantro to tortilla flakes to corn. To top it all off, the Tri Tip was tender and juicy. In addition, the breadstick was very chewy and filled with flavor. It was a perfect side to the salad. I have yet to try anything else here, but all their other dishes look very appetizing as well. It is just too hard for me to order anything other than the BBQ Chopped Salad with Tri Tip. read more

I heard very good reviews about this place and I think it got my expectations a little too high. My boyfriend and I ordered the Steak and Cheese sandwich and the Chicken and Tri-tip Combo meal to share. I've got to say I was super disappointed by my sandwich. It just wasn't all that flavorful and I really didn't think they could mess it up. The chicken and tri-tip combo was by far the better choice. It wasn't super amazing but quite tasty. We tried both the bbq sauce and the garlic butter sauce, both tasted quite good. The garlic butter was good until the oil started solidifying and then it was a little weird. I also had a couple bites of their mashed potatoes. And i would have to say I would go back to Stonefire Grill just for that dish. I have no idea how much butter they put in there but it was amazing. Overall not a bad experience not an exceedingly good one. Just food. read more

Go for the simulus package! Definitely worth it for a group of 3-5. Can't go wrong with either the lemon garlic chicken *although it make get a little too oily) or the tri-tip. Their bbq chicken pizza is pretty tasty, but can get a little soggy. A good combo is chicken and mushrooms. I love their breadsticks and salad. Oh, and take advantage of their bbq sauce, so good! Seems like a nice place for a large group as well. Of course, try to go a non-peak hour times to get a good seat, at least for dinner. Around lunch time, there is usually a place to sit. They also have great service, very helpful and nice. And stick to their pizza, meats, breadsticks, no need to try the brownies or sweets. been here a few times, always a nice place to eat. read more

I love this place!!!!! It's so cheap for what you get and it's sooo good and fresh! There is a stimulus package right now, for $22 you get a medium 2 topping pizza, 1 lb of tri tip, 8 bread sticks and a salad. There is also a half chicken special with a side for $6.95. So let me rave about there cartwheel salad! It has mixed greens, tomato, garbanzo Beans, sliced beets, radish, tortilla chips, black olives and to top it off, they use a cilantro vinaigrette . It's an explosion of flavors and textures in your mouth! The tri tip comes BBQ or pepper garlic which comes with this pepper garlic blue cheese topping which is really good! Lemon garlic chicken comes out divine and juicy. It's bang for your buck! Service is set up where you order, pay, and they give you a number to hang on a stand on your table. The service is good, food comes out fast, and it's cheap! read more

I'm a big fan of stonefire... I have been since I tried their stuff at their first restaurant in Santa Clarita. While their prices can be a bit steep sometimes, please keep in mind that portions are huge and you'll have food for DAYSSSSSSSSS!!! Best bets: Tri Tip Ribs Pesto Pasta (GOTTA GET THE GRILLED CHICKEN!!!) Cheesy Mashed Potatoes BREADSTICKS Yummmmmmmmyy...... read more

This place looks like it is an actual sit down restaurant from the outside, but once you get inside you realize its a chain "fast casual." We ordered two salads and a pizza. The salads were big, but over dressed. The pizza was bland. The one caveat to this restaurant is that its a chain fast casual that is priced like a sit down restaurant. Our meal came out to $36. I don't think this is an absurd price for dinner, but this place has cheap tasting bland food. They should price it accordingly. The final insult to this restaurant is that they have the nerve to include a tip line on the receipt. If I didn't have to get my own drink, table, flatware, and napkins I'd love to tip. Unfortunately I don't want to tip someone after I've done 95% of a server's job. Order dominos, you'll spend less and get the same quality. read more

We just had the tri tip and chicken catered on Sunday and wow was that tri tip good!! Melt in your mouth cow! I loved it soo much I wanted to take it into a dark closet and get it pregnant! read more

I like Stonefire Grill a lot. The main reason is you get decent volume, strong taste and a pretty reasonable price. It's odd, I don't normally like a lot of cheap grill/bbq places but I keep coming back here. My best experiences are always when I've ordered family style so that I can have more options! The meat is consistently juicy/tender with simple but quality flavors. The garlic bread is soft and a tasty compliment to the rest of the food you order. The desserts are huge and rich... the perfect way to end a gluttonous meal. Here are my favorites: * Mac and Cheese - I'm easy to please as far as this stuff goes but I like it here a lot. I always order it, even if I have to get a kids' size. * Tri-tip Salad - Mix in some BBQ sauce and this is a delicious salad that doesn't eat like a salad * Chicken - Whatever the non-BBQ flavor is. It's juicy and has great spice to it. I think it's Lemon Garlic. * Tri-tip - Tender with a nice cheese gorgonzola butter. I really love that stuff. * Deep dish sausage pizza. Dough is soft. Lots of cheese. The sausage is just the right amount of spicy. If you eat family style, this place ends up being a very good deal. Trying to order individually gets a bit tougher but still, I always end up coming back. Cheers! read more

This is my favorite bbq place to dine at. The tri tip is my favorite, never disappoints me. I like how the mashed potatoes have pieces of garlic and cheese in it. The caesar salad is just like every other place. I really don't like the pizza here though, it's really dry and bland for my taste. read more

Well, well, well, Stonefire. We meet again. Except this time I'm writing about you behind your back instead of just eating your food ;) Okay, all joking aside. I've passed this place so many times that one day I went inside to check out their menu. The restaurant seemed clean enough in the front and there was no gunk stuck to the chairs or tables (which I really appreciate!). I got the grilled chicken pesto to-go! I think I made an AWESOME decision because this is the only sandwich on earth that got me to eat my onions! Grilled chicken, caramelized onions, pesto, mozzarella, and arugula on a french roll! So good that when I was done I became a little sad. The roll was soft and didn't make me feel like a Cheetah tearing apart its prey and the chicken was soft and complimented everything really nice together. I will be back next time to try something else! To-go orders were quick, efficient, and friendly. Thanks. read more

Set up in the same way as a Classic Pizza Parlor, this restaurant is able to exceed expectations. Upon entering, you order at a cashier, collect your drink cups, and get a number to display at your table. Drinks, silverware, plateware, bbq sauce, and seating are all self service. They match your food order to your number, and voila! Grub time. Highly recommended is the Pesto Penne Pasta. A large size can easily serve six or more. Also get the hot breadsticks as they are delightfully seasoned without being too oily. We also ordered tritip (tender, well trimmed), roasted chicken (soft, falling off the bone), the Cartwheel salad, the Quinoa side (overly salty, but pleasant), and the Mashed potatoes. Cost, less than $100 for a party of nine with sodas, with leftovers to bring home. Got a big group? Come here. They can handle it, your wallet will thank you, and your stomach will be happy. read more

Decent bbq tritip and garlic lemon chicken here. Recession special is best deal in house. Desserts are a must! Superman portions and not too sweet. Cheesecake and carrot cake will rock your waistline! read more

This place deserves nothing less than 5 stars. The food is always delicious, the staff is always friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Cartwheel salad: I love the cilantro dressing on this salad, and it's a great pick for when you're in the mood for something a little light. Beware, a petite salad is enough for my entire meal + some leftovers. It's a huge portion, and only around $5! Breadsticks: Holy moly! How many times have I told myself I couldn't possibly fit another breadstick in my stomach as I'm munching away on one more. They're delightfully crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the cheesy topping is the icing on the cake! Tomesto pasta: Who ever thought tomato and pesto were such a match made in heaven? Their pesto is a delicious creamy sauce and goes perfectly with the tomato sauce. Again, huge portions, so order small! read more

I had heard good things about Stonefire Grill. We decided to check it out because we are looking for a possible rehearsal dinner location. We enjoyed the food. The meat was slightly cold which was a little disappointing. We really enjoyed the bread sticks. One thing we learned is this place is crazy busy, almost overwhelming. You wait in line, order at the register, then sit and the food is brought to you. Overall our experience was okay but we won't be using it for our rehearsal dinner just because of how busy it is. We probably won't go back (not because its bad, but because we weren't terribly impressed), but I would not discourage anyone from going, especially if its a family outing. read more

Came here with a pretty large group so we grouped ourselves in 4s and got the stimulus package, which is a pretty good deal! You get a small pizza, salad, breadsticks and choice of meat, which I obviously did not indulge in although the others did love it! We ordered the tomato basil pizza because you're only allowed two toppings with this deal and the cartwheel salad which had beets garbanzo beans tortilla crisps olives red onion and a light dressing. The pizza was pretty good although I would have liked extra toppings. Breadsticks were my favorite! They were slightly crispy on the outside but soft inside, and brushed with Parmesan on top with some herbs. Also for dessert as a group we shared the carrot cake. It was one of the best I've had! It was super moist and not too sweet. The cream cheese frosting was done right as well! I think this place overall is great for groups! Casual place & and affordable deals to split with a large group! read more

Great place for groups!! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good foodd. Tri tip and ribs are my favorite here! The salad and breadsticks that come with the meal (a la carte i believe) are also delish! Not a big fan of their lemon garlic rub since I really don't taste the flavor for either...but the bbq is on point! Dipping it with extra bbq sauce on the side...you will be in bbq heaven. The chicken is a little dry in my opinion...but heard great things about the bbq chicken pizza so definitely will give that a try sometime soon. Prices are a little more on the expensive side but cmon it's quality meat you paying for! read more

I was here today for lunch. I ordered the special lunch menu half lemon garlic chicken and pepper tri tip with side of mash potato. It wasn't good or bad just on average meal. Just under salted and lacking in flavor. I would not go back any time soon. read more

Stonefire Grill - American Near Me - Irvine, California

I absolutely love Stonefire Grill. I have ordered takeout and catering from this location, and all I can say is: the service even outdoes the delicious food. I am not usually one to be impressed by good service, but as frequent take-outer, I am usually not expecting much in the way of service. Both times I had phenomenal service, and the staff was super friendly. The food here is on par with other Stonefire Grill locations...which means it's delicious!!! My favorite itemis the BBQ Chopped Salad with chicken - it's probably one of the best entree salads I've ever had. The tri tip is also really juicy and delicious. I LOVE their breadsticks (and if you signup for their newsletter, you'll get an email for a free 1/2 basket!) Overall, the food is 5 stars, but even if it wasn't, the service definitely is. read more

I had such a lovely experience last night at Stonefire Grill. We ordered dinner online and went to pick it up 15 minutes later. We live only a very short distance and once we arrived home, I realized the tri tip was a little overdone. I called the restaurant and spoke with an extremely nice manager (Luis i think) and was told he would have another meal waiting for me. We received an entire new meal which was cooked perfectly and delicious! Even with having to go back, my son thoroughly enjoyed his dinner! Thank you Stonefire Grill for the excellent customer service. read more

We had a party catered on June 9th and we were absolutely delighted with Stonefire Grill's catering process, our extremely talented and sweet server and our meal. The party was for my son's engagement and we had it at a Clubhouse. The Irvine location did our catering. Our server, Jessica, was wonderful. She was on time (actually early) and set up everything and had all our food hot and ready to go when promised. I really want to commend Stonefire for hiring such a lovely and capable representative. The food was out of this world. So many people asked where it was from. When dinner was over our server packed everything up for us. She even labeled all the food. I'm telling you, we were very impressed. I will always use Stonefire as my caterer in any event that I do. read more

I've been coming to this particular restaurant for many years and needless to say, as much as I try to like the food and service, things have not improved and if anything, has gone down hill. First of all, the food is not bad if you can get past the extremely high sodium level on 98% of the menu items. The food is edible but you will be drinking lots of water when you get home. And how is it that BBQ chickens are not cooked on a grill, except for the last 45 seconds to impart some fake grill marks on the chicken skin, but are nuked in the microwave? Now on to the service - pathetically abysmal. With the exception of two front line individuals, the rest of the staff, including quite a few of the managers are completely worthless. As mentioned by another reviewer, most are college students and appears this is their very first job. They do not listen, do not comprehend what you say to them during ordering and cannot give out correct change without a calculator. For the first year or so, I had something incorrect on my order more than 50% of the time. And when I mentioned it several times to the manager, one in particular, she brushed it off as due to the inexperience of the young staff and let it go at that. Really?!!! I've mentioned the incorrect order issue to several managers - all have assured me that this problem would be solved. But it looks like it was just lip service. Nothing has changed - read the reviews by other patrons. Guess my expectations were too high and on subsequent visits, more mistakes. Not new ones but the same ones repeated over and over again. At this point, I would have to put the blame squarely on the management and the owner. If you can't get this sorted out in more than 3 years, what makes you think this problem will go away as it is not just my opinion but many other as well as reported here on Yelp. Bottom line - the food is average at best. As for service, forget about it. I've seen this operation for well over 3 years and nothing has changed! NOTHING. Don't say I didn't warn you. To the owner: you should clean house and hire a completely new staff. If your so called 'managers' cannot solve this simple problem in a few weeks, then they shouldn't be there as it is just a waste of your customers' time having to go through all this nonsense which are mostly preventable to begin with. Be critical with your business and set a standard that others, meaning other restaurants, have to compete against. I get a sense that your management are taking baby steps with the new employees and are afraid to speak the truth to them as it certainly shows from the lack of progress in 3 years along with the poor results I've seen personally. If your front line hired help can't perform, then fire your management until you get one that can train them to do the right thing - and not knowing how to give correct change without the use of a calculator or register computer is not acceptable. And as for taking baby steps with your front line employees and sheltering them from reality - either they learn their lessons now or they learn when they get a real job as they surely will be crying when they get fired by their next boss. As I mentioned, with the exception of the two front line individuals (I think you know who they are since the corporate office does), your entire staff needs to be replaced. A footnote to the business manager - no need to reach out as you have done with other reviews. I have spoken with several of your in store managers and they know very well what the issues are as noted in this review. If you work for the owner - you need to speak with him and tell him what your game plan is to solve this problem in 2 months. If you work for corporate - you need to speak with your boss and give him your game plan on solving this problem in 2 months. Either way, all these public negative reviews about poor service and incorrect orders or poor quality of food should go away in that time frame. Otherwise, you should resign or be fired and let someone who can get the job done do the work. read more

Stonefire Grill - American Near Me - Irvine, California

My wife mentioned the Stonefire Grill as having good-sized portions and good prices. I said, "LETS GO!" I ordered the chicken breast with BBQ sauce and a garden salad. My wife ordered the chicken breast with a lemon garlic sauce and mashed potatoes. Both orders also came with 2 breadsticks each. We both liked out chicken dishes and my wife like the mashed potatoes. I thought the ranch dressing on my salad lacked flavor. They need to get a different brand of dressing. Warning for you tomato haters...they put tons of tomatoes in their garden salad. You might want to ask them to leave them out. The breadsticks are very good. I'm not quite sure which are better: theirs or Pat & Oscars. I better try them again! We had to try "LA's best carrot cake". We ordered the full piece (as opposed to half) and it was a big portion! It was very good. I recommend it. If you want good food that is inexpensive, then try the Stonefire Grill. (Overall grade: B) read more

My friend and I came here for dinner before catching a movie at nearby Woodbridge 5. We ordered the chicken with BBQ sauce and the salmon with lemon garlic. I honestly was not that impressed considering that I keep hearing people rave about this place. The chicken tasted like something out of the dining commons at UCI (not that that's a bad thing or anything...but yeah). It was alright....the salmon on the other hand OMG. I really do think that they marinated it with a gallon of lemon juice because that stuff was SOUR. Way beyond sour actually =X. I did enjoy their breadsticks (some of the best I've had) and salad though. The atmosphere was nice and casual. I'll go back again, but it's not a place that I will return to often. read more

This place is definitely a keeper. From what I remember about previous trips to other locations, there really isn't anything to complain about. Currently, they're running specials that can score you either a full tri tip dinner w/ pizza, salad and breasticks, or full rack of ribs for like $20. Dinner for two for 20$ here? DEAL! lol Anyway, food was great as was expected. The cobb salad was so massive I've still got leftovers 3 days later. The tri-tip was done to perfection in two flavors and the pizza barely got touched because we had so much food. All in all, it was great way to end our day.. read more

Food was mediocre. Plates were dirty. I had to ask the manager to get some clean ones. There were no knives. We had to ask for them. Waiter offered me breadsticks for no charge, but guess what? They never showed up. Food for one of our party showed up when the rest of us were done or nearly done. Lots of other places right in the same parking lot to eat. Skip this one. read more

Awkward place. You order up front then they bring you your food. So if you wanted to order anything else you'd have to go back to the front... Boyfriend and I came and had their stimulus package. A salad, breadsticks, two topping pizza and their half tri tip. The salad - very dry and the taste wasn't very good. We both had a spoonful and didn't touch it again. Breadsticks - very very very dry and the flavor is nasty :/ thought the cheese might've made it better but it made it even drier. We both had one and left it alone. Pizza - we had the pineapple and bacon/ham. It wasn't too bad bit I've had better. Tri tip- the only thing that we were both looking forward to but it turned out to be the worst. It had a very disgusting taste... Kind of like raw beef liver or some sort of internal organs :( at one moment I felt like u wanted to barf everything out. Experience wise, when we had our order taken at the front the cashier seemed like she hated her job or the world. The attitude felt like a "what do you guys want, hurry up." it was our first time here and we had no help whatsoever with ordering. A server came by and asked if everything tasted ok but it felt very awkward. I wouldn't come back. Nope. read more

All I have to say is that you must get the stimulus package if you want your money's worth. For about $20, you get a small pizza, tri-tip, salad, and breadsticks. All of this is enough to serve about 4 people. Definitely worth your money! If you're like me you like your tri-tip a little red, but sometimes they make it a little too hard to chew and swallow because it's way too tender. I'd recommend getting the tri-tip medium. Also, try their breadsticks with a side of caesar salad dressing. Mmmmm :) read more

Stonefire is perfect for your BBQ cravings, minus the long wait and sore wallets (eh hem, Lucille's!). It's pretty quick, reasonably priced, convenient and clean. I've been here a couple of times and have tried their salads, tri-tip, and BBQ chicken, which were all very delish. Their breadsticks are super good, too. The combo deal (which is only around 9 dollars) gives you your choice of entree, breadsticks and a side of salad... WITH A DRINK! Plus, my first time, the staff was very friendly to give me a couple of suggestions. Definitely worth a try! read more

Everytime I come here I order the stimulus package and it's so-very-worth-it! It can easily feed 3-4 people, maybe even 5. For $25 you get: Garlic Breadsticks (8-10 pieces)- a guilty pleasure really, they are as good as breadsticks come...but beware of the grease! Salad- 1 large bowl of your choice...I always go for the ceasar Tri-tip - 1 plate of great, meaty flavor. I get medium rare so it's nice and juicy Pizza (2 topping)- choose ANY 2 toppings and they mean ANY...mushrooms, onions, sausage, TRI-TIP, etc! This deal is definitely worth it !! read more

I rarely give 5 stars but this restaurant is one of my new favorite restaurant. Not only it's cheaper then Lucille's it's better too in my opinion, the family meal was only $36.99 which includes Bread stick, salad, 1/2 tri-tip and full rack of ribs. Service was excellent, the portions were outragesly big and we just can't wait to go again. I like the fact that we get our own drink, plates, silverware, etc.. since I don't like to wait for the waiters to fill my drink except for alcohol. The only downside is the BBQ sauce they only had one kind. They gave us free brownies to try also mmm...that was good. Must Try: Ribs (we had a full rack and my daughter ate half of it her self, she's 10) Tri Tips both flavors. (BEST cooked perfectly) All their awesome salad Garlice Mashed potatoes with cheese (wow..) Coleslaw (really fresh and not creamy) Brownies (yum.. yum..) Garlic Bread Sticks... read more

I have to give this place a 5 star now....I was just here last night and now I'm addicted to their caesar salad! The dressing is amazing! I didn't get the Caesar the first time I was here. PLUS, after my previous review, the manager of Stonefire replied to my post and explained the chicken cooking process. They slow cooked the meats first so the cooking process makes the chicken bone pink/almost bloody. BUT he assured me that they check to make sure all meats are cooked properly and done at the right temperature several times through the cooking process. GREAT TO HEAR THAT!!! and thanks for taking the time out to explain. Again, great service!!! read more

Went here with my brother and his wife and we mistakenly ordered way too much food! We ordered the 1/2 chicken and full rack of ribs family plate which came with a medium salad and 12 breadsticks and we also ordered a petite macaroni and cheese. The breaksticks are great. I could nom on those all day long. The chicken was so tender and juicy and the bbq sauce was fabulous. The rib meat fell right off the bone and I kept pulling bones off the rack and getting no meat. They were tastey and tender. I don't eat salad, but it looked like it was only lettuce and crutons with a light sprinkle of caesar dressing. Now let me explain the petite mac and cheese. First off, when you say petite and say it serves 1 person, I'm hoping you mean 1 starving person and that's all they're going to eat. That had to be the largest mac n cheese I've ever seen! I don't even want to know what the medium looks like! Jesus! With that said, it was very tastey and I'm a fan. However, if I ever order that again that's all I'm eating. Overall, everything tasted great and the portions were quite large. Bring a friend, or 2 or 3. read more

Stonfire Grill is great! It is a perfect restaurant for groups that are eating together but not necessarily paying together or ordering to go food. I like it best for lunch with coworkers or a quick dinner to take home and share. One of my favorite items is the BBQ Chopped salad. It is delish and the small salad is at least two full meals. They have great fresh cooked food with a lot of choices at a good price. Today I finally convinced my office to try a new order in place for lunch. I had a menu on hand and found another online for all of my office mates to figure out what they wanted. I wasn't sure if everyone was going to like it, but there is a huge selection and great prices. For take-out they have a very easy to use special take-out counter so you don't have to wait in the dinning-in area. I would recommend trying it out! read more

I've come here so often and never have been disappointed once! It's just really good, wholesome, all-American food! The staff are also very friendly and fast. My favorite pizza is the Stonefire's Favorite but I think all the pizzas are really well made. The same for the salads! The salads are really fresh and there are so many! I've had a good amount from their menu and can't wait to try more. My favorites are the Cartwheel and Asian Chicken salads. I've also had the tri-tip and it's always very delectable! One of my favorite things is their Carrot Cake!! I like how you can see the carrots, but the frosting is a little too sweet but not overpowering. I always look forward coming here! read more

At first glance, I thought this place was some fancy steak/grill restaurant. I was wrong..this place is affordable! After checking out its website, my mouth started to salivate from the pictures. So of course I got in my car and headed over for some dinner. Glad I did because I do not regret it at all! Items I've tried: - Mesquite BBQ Tri-tip - DELICIOUS *drool* the meat was cooked to perfection. Slightly pink in the center, tender and moist. Can be sliced through with one single knife swipe. The BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet, giving it just the right amount of flavor. - Garlic Pepper Tri-tip - Average. Meat was cooked fine but missing the flavor spark. Couldn't really taste the garlic or the pepper. - Lemon Chicken - Average. Chicken was a little on the drier side and not enough flavor. - Garlic Mashed Potatoes - A little above average. Loads of garlic flavor and doesn't taste all gritty like the ones you make from the box. - Breadsticks - Average. Flavor-wise, it was good. But not enough outer crunch and inner softness that I would have expected and liked. Overall, I will definitely be back soon. The BBQ tri-tip is to die for if you don't want to break the bank. Price is decent and the meat packs a punch of flavor. The staff was nice and friendly. Food came out at a reasonable time. It's really hard to find a restaurant that cooks meat to perfection (unless you want to empty your paycheck on one meal) but this place does it! read more

This is a good place for a quick work lunch. They bring the food out-POW!-fast so coming hungry is no issue. Nice menu selection to pick off. I always have a great experience here. Staff is super friendly, service is very quick. They even off you a water cup if you're just waiting for to go orders. :) It's a small touch, but it goes a long way. The food is abundant and delicious. If you haven't tried the spinach salad, you're missing out! The avocado and chicken portions for a small salad are super generous. My only complaint is that it's too busy during lunch! read more

Always come when visiting a particular friend in Irvine. Great place for salad, pizza, and even meat. It's kind of "family style" - get a pizza and salad to share, for example. I love that the sizes are very customizable. It's pretty casual - you order at the front and they bring the food to your table. I like that you can grab a box and pack up your own leftovers (of which there should be plenty). Also, I've done take-out and the salad was very well packed, everything ready pretty quickly. Good food at a reasonable price. Not much else to say about it. Really like it, but not necessarily my favorite place. read more
