This was our first time dining here with our family, and we had a wonderful experience thanks to our amazing server, Frank! Frank was incredibly friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. He noticed whenever our cheese corn and steamed eggs were running low and proactively refilled them for us. He maintained a warm smile throughout our meal and made sure we felt well taken care of. His excellent service made our entire dining experience enjoyable and memorable. We truly appreciate his hospitality and will definitely be coming back again. Thank you, Frank, for making our first visit so special!

Pros: good enough variety in the menu that everyone found something that they liked. Good flavors overall. Decent portion sizes Cons: pricey considering it's à la carte, these places are always more expensive than the all you can eat kbbq places. Granted the quality here is better than the typical ayce. Service is where my main issue was. Just 1 example: when our server came we had asked for forks for the table. She acknowledged us and left to do her thing. Came back later with a couple of forks. And I'm like ok can we get 4 more forks, we get the acknowledgement and she is off on her way. Came back with 2 forks. Like this is ridiculous. I can understand if the first time she was like o they just want a couple of forks for the 2 people who asked, but we said forks for all of us. Also, I wouldn't go so far to say she was rude but she also wasn't really pleasant. She did cook the food well enough though. As for the hostess she was so pleasant so I have to issues with her. The place wasn't exactly dirty but our table did feel a tad, tacky maybe? Not quite sticky but just a little something on there. Notes: the main reason we went here was that this place was on Resy so I was able to use my Amex quarterly Resy credits. While this place was pricy Resy made it worth coming. Also was my palate spoiled from going to a higher quality kbbq restaurant in the same week just a few days prior? Probably, or I would have enjoyed everything a bit more and maybe considered this place even better bang for the buck even if it was still pricy.

Service, Food and Vibes were all a 10/10. I cannot reccomend this place enough. I believe we got the marinated meats combo with a bunch of extras. Everything was delicious and our server cooked everything to perfection.

A little smoky inside, could use better ventilation. Meats and unlimited sides are good, same as other locations. They had our server working ~5/6 tables which I think was too much bc he had to run to cook the meats and some of ours was slightly overcooked. Part of larger plaza so plenty of free parking.

Haven't been to a Baekjeong in such a long time. Used to go to the original one in ktown 3 times a week when lived in LA, lol. Old friend from out of state was in town, so wanted to treat him to kbbq before he left. Last time he and I had baekjeong together was way back in 2013 in ktown, so we were way overdue but since he was in the Irvine area gave this location a try. One of our other mutual friend who did not join warned us about the quantity not being like before. I guess prices have more than doubled while quantities have shrank, but that's compared to when I was eating it all the time over a dozen years ago, so wasn't too surprising for me. Reservation was for 7:30pm for 4 people. We ordered a large beef combo & added a pork belly (which was my fav back when I used to eat it so often). Friend ordered up Saero soju, which was my first time trying since I haven't been going kbbq or having soju for so long. It was smooth with no burn, so I learned something new! We ended up downing 4 bottles of it, before going back to his hotel to cap the night off with martini. Our server Kyle was an expert at grilling and service, 5 stars for him. All the meats were grilled perfectly and we just got to enjoy with the saero flowing freely. Food was pretty good, 4 stars. I love the pork at baekjeong, but friend was trying to cut down on the fat, so we went beef, lol. The evening was going well and to prevent friend from paying the bill, I ordered up the 4th saero and paid the bill before eating the marinated beef that was grilled last. But shortly after, some manager guy showed up asking if we were done or needed anything else? Still need to open up the 4th bottle and eat the final marinated beef chunks? He seemed impatient to kick us out, explained he had people waiting for tables? 1 star for the unnecessary rushing. It was like 9:10pm and I looked around and there were empty tables around us, 2 empty right next to us and another empty one next to the people adjacent to that? My elder friend got very pissed and was getting ready to call the manager back, but we were able to calm him down to not make a scene. Either way, I felt rushed to hurry up and finish the bottle and just get out of there by 9:30pm. Walking out, there were several other empty tables on the front area too, so it was confounding why the manager wanted to rush us out when we still had a bottle and beef to finish. And of course there was no people waiting outside to get seated, it's not like the original baekjeong in ktown 6th st back in the day when people from Irvine came up to line up for 1~2 hours late in to the night. Never once had issues back then, in fact got serviced extra soju by manager when we were there to eat and drink for long time. Maybe baekjeong grew too big and forgot about the superior food and service when it was just one location. Definitely the last baekjeong visit for us. Guess I had my fill (way too much, lol) of it back in the original baekjeong days anyway. Plenty other kbbq places to try next time friend visits again.

The meat is so tender and fresh. Very recommend! The corn and egg is also perfect.Try to take a bite of meat with some small dishes! Wonderful experience! Plus, service is so good

Our server Mark was amazing and made us feel so welcome! The food and vibes were high quality as always, we love the beef combo.

Ordered the Large Combo with brisket and short rib for 3. It was enough food to share, and the quality of the meat was worth it. The banchan was solid. I especially liked the crunchy kimchi and cucumbers, and they also served radish and rice paper to eat w the meat. Unfortunately no fish cakes. They included complimentary cheese corn and steamed egg with free refills, along with two different salads, so there was plenty to eat to cut the grease from the meat. The staff handled the grilling for us, which made the meal much more relaxing. They were attentive despite the rush. The brisket was incredibly tender, while the short rib was juicy and full of flavor. They cooked the marinated short rib over a mesh grill, which gave it a nice char and subtle smoky flavor that really elevated each bite. The house sweet dipping sauce paired well with the meat, but we also asked for sesame oil with salt, which gave the beef a more classic Korean BBQ flavor. Having both options gave us the variety we needed. Overall, this was a great Korean BBQ experience. The quality of the meat, attentive service, and well-rounded selection of sides made it a meal I've come back for time and time again.

This place always slaps. Great quality meet and really good ban chan. The waiters usually do a good job but unfortunately, I had to only rate this 4 stars cuz we did come in kind of late, but not closing and they were trying to rush us a bit, understand they had to do that to close but I also think they shouldn't try to close earlier than the posted time. Nonetheless, they are nice enough to us but yea, don't generally liked to be rushed. Perhaps it's just that night staff? Idk. But still great place to have quality Korean bbq.

Had a great experience here! It was my first time at Baekjeong and I had heard great things. We made a reservation online easily and came for an early dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant wasn't too busy at the time. My husband and I ordered a small of the Beef Combo. With all the sides, it was a lot of food for 2 people. We ended up finishing everything, but we were STUFFED and didn't get to really eat much of our kimchi soup. I think the small would be just about perfect for 3 people. The meal was DELICIOUS from beginning to end. The star of the meal was the brisket! The quality was top notch and was some of the best brisket I've ever had. Then we had ribeye which was also great, but in an odd way, didn't feel as KBBQ-y to me. The meat quality again was top tier, but just wasn't what I was looking for. The final marinated meat was really delicious too as it was sweet and smoky. I actually wish I got the pork + beef combo instead so we could've had brisket and pork belly (instead of the ribeye). But no big deal! Guess we'll have to come back lol I loved allllllll the sides. The kimchi was fantastic, the spicy cucumber, the green onion salad, the other salad, everything was so good and fresh and flavorful! It really helped cut the fattiness of the meat. Service was great too! It was clear our servers were keeping an eye on us cuz as soon as we finished our rice paper, they'd refill it. They cooked our meat super quickly too! Great service Overall, such delicious brisket. Brisket with rice paper and veggies and some kimchi/cucumber was a bite of heaven OH WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Went on a Sunday around 6 PM and waited about 55 minutes for a table. Once we got seated and ordered, the food came out pretty fast, and our servers were really nice. The only downside was that the whole experience felt really rushed. They cooked all the different meats in our combo within about 15-20 minutes, so we were basically done eating only 30 minutes after being seated. While we were still eating, they brought us the check and a to-go box without us asking, which made it feel like they wanted to turn the table over as quickly as possible. The food itself was delicious, and the quality of the meat was really good. My only other complaint is the portion size. We ordered the small beef combo for $87 (recommended for 2 people), and for that price, I expected a little more meat.

Baekjeong is a chain restaurant straight from Korea that features al a carte authentic Korean barbecue. Their sides are all so delicious! The kimchi is very flavorful and fresh and the pickled radish is the perfect add on with the meat. The staff help you cook everything so you don't need to do it yourself. Khue was an AWESOME server!! Huge props to him and I hope he gets some great recognition for his hard work. He was so attentive and kind and told us how we can pair our meats to taste extra good. I haven't had an experience at Baekjeong quite as great as this one. Thanks Khue for making this experience special! I also want to give big props to Hailey who took over after Khue was off for the day. She was super awesome and helped us pack our leftovers at the end as well! Big thanks to the awesome staff at Baekjeong!

How come "Kang Ho Dong" is not in the title of the restaurant anymore?

my guess would be that the newer generation doesn't really know kang ho dong all that well anymore, seeing how he's in his 50s, and they're just leaning into a rebrand. i wouldn't blame his tax evasion scandal since that was 12 years ago, and turned…

Coworker has been raving about this place since I knew him - so we finally managed to grab lunch here on a Thursday. Service is typical Asian restaurant - fast, efficient, mildly friendly. You know the food is good when they don't make small talk. There's tons of seating inside, and one table outside - but not sure if the one outside is just for you to wait for your table inside. Despite it being packed for lunch, we were able to hear each other just fine. Plates, bowls, utensils, cups are all on your table - which is a huge plus - no need to flag anyone down. There's a pitcher of water, and a thermos of their famous bone broth - which was my choice of drink for my meal. I left all the ordering to my coworker - who was careful to order non-spicy selections - since I have a low spice tolerance. Our orders: * Dolpan Mushroom Bulgogi - this was a delicious dish in a hot stone. Mushroom and beef over rice with a semi mild spicy sauce. My tablemates were forgiving in that they ordered everything without spice, and added spice on their own. * Fried Squid - sorta like calamari, but prepared differently. This was great on its own, has a bit of a tempura type of coating. *Braised Short Ribs - this is the dish that my coworker has been hyping up! It's like a short rib stew sorta thing with fish cakes, veggies, in a rich, thick broth. The short ribs were perfectly tender and each bite was full of flavor. Beware - this entree is $70 to $90 - not a typo. It's easily 3x to 4x as much as any other entree on the menu. We were served purple rice - which I thought was awesome - perfectly soft, moist, and fluffy. We also had a great helping of banchan - table favorites were the Korean cubed jelly, fish cakes, kimchee radishes and the squash. As mentioned, service was prompt and attentive. Our banchan was refilled without us having to ask. Parking CAN get messy. I parked on the surface, but there is supposedly an underground parking area underneath the shopping plaza.

We ordered food in Korean so no miscommunication here.

Overall, the food simply did not taste authentic or made with the quality of ingredients I expected. I really dislike leaving negative reviews because I genuinely want to support local restaurants. However, based on what we were served, I cannot recommend this place. The restaurant presents itself as an authentic seolleongtang restaurant, and one entire wall is covered with large advertisements emphasizing its authenticity. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to those claims. I was also confused by the restaurant's name, YiGah, because it sounds essentially the same in Korean as the well-known LeeGa name in Los Angeles. That initially gave me a different expectation of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was simply terrible during our visit. I hope they will improve the quality, especially the broth and seasonings.
