We decided to come and try the restaurant out after my appointment at Kaiser. Its located where the old Uncle Sam's restaurant used to be. We ordered the pork belly, bahn mi chicken sandwich and bangus with garlic noodle. All of the food was really good. I especially enjoyed the pork belly. The place is clean and service is great! Great spot for takeout or casual dining as things open back up. Went there with a friend and tried the combo stir fried noodles, the Banh Mi, Egg rolls and skewers. Food came out fast if you're in a hurry. All had great flavor (the Banh Mi was my favorite) and great to support a family owned business. Also, try the limeade especially on a hot day. Refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. read more

I've been to stockpot a few times these past few months and I have to say that in thoroughly impressed. The indoor dining looks super clean and cute (though we can't use it right now) and the staff is so friendly! I've order the Cambodian noodles (dry) and the bun bo hue specially because I couldn't find it at the other Vietnamese restaurants in Vallejo and they both were so delicious! Growing up with Vietnamese food in OC, this is the closest we can get here in Vallejo. I've also had the lemongrass beef sandwich and it's perfectly done! Some of the pricing is expensive and some of the ingredients for dishes are missing but I spoke to the owner and I understand the supply and demand is different up here. Overall did recommend this place to everyone! read more

Tried out this spot since it's really close to where I work. They offer take out as well as indoor dining with good social distancing between tables. I got the build your own bowl with the garlic rice and crispy pork belly. And another bowl with longganisa and egg for take out. The food was really good and definitely will come back to try the other selections on the menu. read more

Ordered the Claypot Rice, Vermicelli Noodles, and the Beef Skewers here. Let's talk about it real quick: Claypot Rice: Great amount of food within that pot. Vegetables are nicely cooked. Proteins are tender and savory. Sauce on the rice was magnificent. Overall amazing. A lot of rice tho but good thing I like my carbs. 4.5 out of 5 Shrimp Mans. Vermicelli Noodles: Good and healthy. A lot of vegetables. Fish sauce was a good balance with the protein of your choice. We had the sirloin beef with it. Beef was tender and juicy. Noodles even soaked up a good amount of beef flavor so you know it's good. Rating: 7 Noodles strips out of 8. Amazing. Beef Skewers: If you like barbecue then you'll like this as an appetizer. Beef marinated well. Don't even need the sriracha but I like the spice. Anyways beef is tender. 5 beef sticks out of 5. Amazing. Final note: This place deserves more recognition. Tell your friends. I can't believe I drove this place so many times and never tried but shoot I'll come back again in the future. Final review: Amazing. read more

Maybe 4 stars. Place is clean and the service is really good. They are very friendly and don't get me wrong , it was kinda nice to eat at a pho place with English speaking staff. It was just nice fir a change. I ordered the $10 pork belly and it's good and crispy., I cannot taste what the sauce is about tho. It's like they could not decide what flavor profile they want ? I also ordered the seafood pho at $12++ and it arrived in a big stainless steel bowl. It looked big - the stock was super yummy and the noodles were noodles. First time that I have tried their food. In my unbiased opinion, food was fairly good. I was very happy to have ordered their crispy pork belly with very minimal fats (most resto's that sell crispy pork belly are majority fats). We had Bahn Mi and the bread was good. The Pad Thai and Shrimp Ho Fun were just the average but is enough to satisfy your cravings. There's more on the menu for me to come back and try the rest. It's not bad at all, it all just depends on individuals taste buds that I would say, give it a try! read more

The 4 stars is for the owners and staff because they're normally attentive and helpful. The food however is decent. At times they add too much of what I assume is fish sauce, the taste is in the chicken wings as well. LOVE though that they have about the best portioned and flavored rice/noodle bowl in Vallejo. I have worked 2 minutes away from this place for many years, and boy have I been missing out. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but food was delicious. This is definitely going to be my go lunch place. It's not busy inside but there are quite a few orders always lined up for grub hub/takeout. Can't wait to try more from the yummy menu. RIP Uncle Sam's, but this place is pretty good! Came here specifically for the lemongrass tofu vermicelli bowls and it did not disappoint The fried lemongrass tofu had a bold flavor and is something that you can't find in the area. The fresh spring rolls were massive - double the size of the spring rolls you get from the neighboring pho restaurants. Will be back! read more

My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. At very competitive prices, we got a few noodles dishes and lots of spring rolls. The best thing about this place was not just the freshness of the food, but that there was no cloying sweetness--or saltiness--to the dishes. Places with fast service and big menus, especially with Asian food, tend to overwhelm the palate. I liked the balanced flavor and we didn't feel terribly uncomfortable after eating. It's not the best food of it's kind, but for the price and convenience, we were pleased and would go again! read more

First time here! We were on the way back from San Francisco and, stumbled upon this gem! The customer service was great! And very Covid-19 safe. I ordered a Bun Bo Hue ($10/ one size (L)) it was average to me coming from the Bay Area, but probably 5-star to Vallejo residents. Average meaning there wasn't as much of a kick from the spice. There's also no Pork Blood as what I'm used to in my Bun Bo Hue. I'd definitely come back for something different! Or just add more sauces to my soup. read more

Always good to see new spots popping up during difficult times. So it was with quite a bit of excitement that my girlfriend and I decided to order delivery from this joint about a week ago. Overall I would say that we were pretty pleased with what we got, and am certain that we will be coming back for more. We decided on the garlic noodle combo with crispy pork belly, a crispy pork belly sisig Banh Mi, a Vietnamese coffee, and an order of the vegetarian tofu egg rolls. I was a huge fan of the egg rolls myself, and love that they put the taro root in there. The garlic noodles were fantastic, very flavorful and not at all overly greasy, which is always nice. I did find the pork belly to be a bit... disappointing? It wasn't bad. But it wasn't crispy, and I thought it was pretty bland overall. This could be a result of it being delivered, and I definitely will try it again when I can dine-in, but it certainly missed the mark for me this time. The Bahn Mi was really tasty, I thought! My girlfriend said that the pork had a bit of the same issues that mine had, so maybe we just caught them at a bad time/day. I also want to mention that I personally do feel that $10 is a bit on the high side for Bahn Mi, but maybe I'm spoiled from all the cheap options that were available to me when I lived in East Oakland. Again, not a deal breaker at all, and it is a very tasty sandwich, but something to be aware of. Finally, the Vietnamese coffee! I am a huge fan of these drinks, and for some reason I chose to get it hot, instead of cold. It came in a coffee cup that was around a third full, which seemed... odd. I thought that my driver had spilled it at first, but there were no signs of such a thing having happened. I think that is just the serving size, which given the strength of the drink, is probably ample. But it did make me feel a bit, shortchanged, I guess is the word I'm looking for? It looked a bit depressing. It was absolutely delicious, and as strong as I expected it to be. I think next time I'll get the cold variant like I am supposed to and all will be well. There were a lot of really good things about our meal here. Far more pros than cons, and certainly more than enough positives to ensure that we will be back. Looking forward to hopefully having a seat at one of their tables in 2021, and trying some more of that crispy pork belly. Yum! read more

The pho is delicious. The chicken is my favorite because it's not frozen like most pho spots. They actually grill or sauté the chicken before adding to the broth. The broth is clean and tasty. Oh dear! I really wanted to like this place.... But it was far from Asian (Vietnamese? Chinese? Thai?) and / or American.... The food lacked seasoning and the dishes were sadly voided from mints, Basils, cilantros, lemongrass, and herbs found in Vietnamese comfort food. We ordered "Banh Mi" with grilled pork. The veggies included, lettuce, cucumbers, a few slices of pickled veggies, and meat. (Sadly, The bread was probably the best part) So, sadly, I would not recommend this restaurant. First time ordering. The food was good. Ordered the spicy tamerind wings. 2 disapointments. 1. 6 half wings for 10.00 is expensive. As much as I liked them, there is no value in them for me. 2. Said they were spicy, they are not. Great flavor, but no spice. Also ordered the spring rolls. Very fresh, but once again, absolutly no spice. Tasty, but I expected more spicy. This place just opened up and the food here is so good! I had the Cambodian Noodle Soup and the Sauteed Ho Fun noodles. The broth of the soup hit the spot and packed flavor, and the pork was delicious and tasty. The Sauteed Ho Fun noodles were super flavorful and tasted super good. Great portion sizes and prices as well. The staff is very sweet too - I was a dum-dum and forgot to request for takeout and the staff was extremely accommodating in repacking my food. They went above and beyond - with the noodle soup, they made sure to pack the noodles and broth separately. Such a huge surprise when I opened everything at home, and they really took that extra step to make sure my food was still fresh! read more

Amazing! I bought take out for my picky Vietnamese parents and they gave it great praise. There is a good mix of traditional and popular dishes to choose from. The portions are fair if not large, it is definitely the best bang for your buck. I especially like that it is not just Vietnamese dishes but a few different types of cuisines so there is a bit of something for everyone. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately I was highly disappointed I saw all the good reviews and I'm all about supporting small businesses but what I got was NOT good at all. I got the pad Thai and it was the worst I've had The noodles were soggy, the egg wasn't cook all the way, and the only had 2 shrimps and 3 pieces of chicken in the order, it was also extremely fishy and oily I had to throw it out...on the plus side their costumer service was really good. Maybe I didn't get the right thing. read more

I forget how I learned about this restaurant, but I bookmarked it a while ago as a place to meet either Kathleen or Greg and today Greg and I had lunch here. The restaurant is on the southwest corner of Sereno and Broadway. The space's previous occupant was Uncle Sam's, a Filipino-Chinese joint. I haven't been there since my first and last time in the late 90s for a lunch w/ coworkers. I used to work a block or so away and the meal was memorable because I had indigestion all afternoon, which was both unusual and unpleasant. Greg, who grew up in Vallejo, tells me that before that the space used to be a Bob's Big Boy, but that was before my time. They have their own parking lot. I parked and walked in. Greg was already there, seated. We were given takeout menus but were told we'd order at the counter. I couldn't find the dish that had interested me on the online menu, the claypot. I went up to the counter and the woman working there, who had given us the menus, told me they had it, it was just for dine-in and therefore not on the takeout menu, While I was there I ordered it because it takes 15 minutes and added English breakfast tea. They have only half and half, no milk, so I asked for that and sweetener. Greg ordered shrimp pho and tea. We sat down and visited while waiting for our food, which came faster than I had expected, although maybe it was because we were just busy catching up. The restaurant was brighter and cleaner than I remember, w/ high ceilings and lots of natural light from walls of windows. There are two gender neutral restrooms and they are both large and clean. When the food arrived it was delicious, the rice in my claypot crispy in places and an abundance of chicken, shrimp and sliced sausage. I really liked it and Greg liked his pho as well. It was a generous bowl. We lingered talking after lunch and chatted w/ the man who had served our food, who turned out to be the owner's son. He talked about how the pandemic had given them time to fix the place up. It really does look attractive. When I told him I live in El Cerrito he told me they also own Le Pho on the corner of Dwight and San Pablo, which Alan and I used to go to before the pandemic and which we really liked. There were several other people dining in and Greg observed many people doing takeout. It's a nice place and I'm sure I will be back. read more

Love the new lay out compared to what it used to be. Friendly staff and clean setting. My husband enjoyed his chicken wings and egg rolls. I had a rice bowl and spring rolls. Food was good. Very basic. Can't mess it up. But portions are small for the price we paid. Ended up getting something else somewhere else. Rice bowl had JUST TWO small longganisas split down the center. Plenty of good garlic rice and salad. I also went to the store after and grabbed some fresh longgnisa because I wasn't satisfied. I won't be going back. read more

Overall, a decent but not great place to pick up cheap Chinese food if you're on the go for great value as they also load up the plate with lots of food. I probably won't be getting dim sum here again. For dim sum, best bet is to travel across the bridge to WC or Pinole.

Loaded with flavor, freshly baked/fried, so delicious. The Har Gow was also tasty a simple combination of shrimp and ginger in a light noodle shell. Friendly service in a fast casual environment. The Food: Roti & Yellow Curry ($14, Grade A+): Fried roti with a yellow curry dipping sauce. It's a super savory dish, and honestly, I should have had you at "fried." If you're wondering what roti is, think of it as a buttery, flaky, pan-fried flatbread. It's large enough appetizer to share with 3 people, but you're pushing your luck with 4. Pad Thai with Fried Tofu ($16, Grade A): I've had this dish 5 times now. To be completely transparent, it's the exact reason why I can't give Pearl Thai a full 5-star rating, purely because of consistency. The first time I got it, it was perfect. The second and third times, it had no sauce and was dry. The fourth time, I asked them to make it saucy, and they obliged to an almost soupy level. For this fifth time, I just ordered it straight up and zipped my lip on any alterations. As they say, the fifth time was a charm! When it's made with the perfect amount of sauce, this dish is excellent. The noodles have that exact texture you look for in a pad thai, and the egg gets that great scorch from the wok for an added layer of flavor. Also, the tofu has been incredibly fresh every single time. It never tastes slightly spoiled, which happens a lot in smaller towns that don't heavily support plant-based diets where tofu just sits in a fridge eagerly awaiting someone to order it. Mixed Vegetables ($14, Grade A): Sautéed wood ear mushrooms and mixed vegetables in a garlic soy sauce. If you've ever had Pad Pak, you already know this flavor profile. I really enjoyed it, but next time I'll ask for no carrots and maybe half the garlic. Overall, it's a perfect dish that absolutely requires steamed rice to soak up all that great flavor. Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($8, Grade A): The classic dessert we see at all Thai restaurants, but they serve it with purple sticky rice, making it a visually yummy dish. It's plenty of food to share between two people. Bottom Line: The service here is great and very friendly. It's a small, local shop with "Best in Town" awards highlighted on the walls. The environment is clean, and the food is served hot and arrives at the table quick. One Last Word: Don't leave here without ordering the roti with yellow curry for an appetizer.
