    Celebrating my 50th!!
    Trevor C.

Celebrating my birthday at Steak 48 turned into a night I'll never forget. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt upscale yet welcoming, setting the tone for a truly special evening. The steaks were cooked to absolute perfection -- tender, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Every side dish complemented the meal beautifully, and the presentation made it feel like a true celebration. What made the night unforgettable was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make the birthday feel special, adding thoughtful touches that made the evening feel personal and memorable. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a milestone or create a lasting memory, Steak 48 delivers an experience as incredible as the food.

Back to Chicago and had to stop in. Service was on point and food excellent. We got filet, cooked perfect and tender. Got asparagus fries and corn crème brûlée, omg that corn is still amazing and the asparagus was no slouch either. Every trip to Chicago this is a stop.

Excellent food in a wonderful atmosphere! The views from the second floor are amazing. I had the bone in ribeye. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Ordered it rare and it was cooked to perfection. The sides were awesome too. Service was excellent. Very attentive! Definitely recommend this place for a romantic evening or a celebration.

It was our first time at the infamous stake 48 as it was the wife's birthday. Start the service was amazing along with the hospitality in rose petals all over the table. The cocktail list was extensive along with the crafted beers, whiskey's bourbons and incredible wine list both current and vintage. The steaks were delicious and the sides were perfect. If I could only make one complaint about the food. It would be the oysters. They just didn't seem as juicy and briny as that specific breed is known, for we also noticed there were a lot of guests wearing hats and hoodies, which was odd because they really force the dress code policy. both through OpenTable and on their website. I would suggest they change that and start cracking down unless they want it to be another Applebee's. Other than that, great place try it out!

Best steak iv ever had. I will say my steak did come out purple when I asked for medium. They threw it back on the grill and it came back PERFECT. The service there was phenomenal. Mashed potatoes were a huge hit as well.

From start to finish, Steak 48 delivered an exceptional dining experience that hit all the right notes of indulgence, precision, and bold flavor. But before I describe an unforgettable meal, I want to begin by thanking the new GM Jennifer Seitaj for accommodating my request for a private dining booth in the back (pictured), the manager Kris Petrov for the tremendous on-site customer service, and of course my waiter Vincent who ALWAYS provides exceptional service-- appropriately attentive without being overbearing. Having arrived early we started in the warm and friendly bar area -- vibrant but not loud -- and enjoyed a delicious glass of Croggy Range "Te Muna Rd" Sauvignon Blanc (24 Marl, NZ). When seated knowing we'd have steaks at Chicago's premier steakhouse restaurant I ordered a bottle of an exceptional and reasonably priced Cabernet Sauvignon - The Calling ('20 Alexander Valley, CA) $94, a bold, well-structured full bodied wine with a long, elegant finish and balance. Sourced from Sonoma's renowned Alexander Valley - A classic expression of a California Cabernet. Steak 48 Food -- THE BEST! Appetizers set the tone beautifully. The crispy shrimp--tossed in a sweet Thai chili glaze and paired with a garlic aioli--was the perfect mix of sweet heat and creamy richness. The standout starter, however, was the chicken fried lobster tails. Served three to an order, these were a decadent treat: crisp on the outside with tender lobster inside, seasoned with Chesapeake Bay spices and complemented by a green chili aioli that added just the right kick. Worth every penny. For the main course, the steaks were grilled to perfection. The New York Strip arrived flawlessly medium rare, with a gorgeous sear and juicy, robust flavor. The filet mignon, also medium rare, was equally impressive--tender, buttery, and full of depth. The sautéed spinach side with sea salt and Parmesan was a simple yet elegant pairing, offering a garlicky, savory counterpoint to the rich meats. Dessert was no afterthought. The "Ultimate" Vanilla Caramel Cake lives up to its name--layers of moist cake, vanilla gelato, and airy whipped cream, topped with homemade toasted brown sugar cinnamon pecans for the perfect crunch. The red velvet bread pudding was equally show-stopping, melting together warm cake, vanilla gelato, sweet cream cheese, and white chocolate into a luscious finale. Every dish reflected thoughtful preparation and premium ingredients. Steak 48 nails the upscale steakhouse experience--bold, flavorful, and totally satisfying.

This was such a nice experience for our anniversary. The restaurant was pretty dark inside and there is a dress code but the music was upbeat which, in my opinion, makes things feel young and energetic instead of too serious. The steaks were delicious. Loveddd how hot the actual plates were. The au gratin potatoes were amazing. They sent a dessert to us for the occasion and it was soooo delicious. I can't even put my finger on everything that was in it, I just knew there was red velvet cake, maybe some macadamia nuts?? I'm not sure but after everything we ate, we almost didn't finish it so it was the perfect size. Why 4 stars? Our waiter, was ..okay. He knew to be professional but the way he said things at times was kinda condescending so it could have brought the mood down if we allowed it to. Other than that, it was a nice time

My FAVORITE steakhouse in Chicago. I bring my parents here everytime they come to visit. My mom is super picky about steakhouses and asks to come everytime she comes to Chicago. Steaks are always hot and fresh and at the perfect temp. Sides like the butter whipped potato's and Mac & cheese are to die for! The appetizers are also all impeccable. They have some of the BEST rolls. They also brought my mom the sweetest birthday dessert to celebrate her last time she visited. Ambiance is dark and moody, which I love for a steakhouse.

What can be said about Steak 48 which hasn't already been said. Is it pricey? Absolutely. Is it worth it? Definitely. Drinks are strong and well prepared, appetizers are diverse and amazing. Steaks? Some of the best I've had. Well prepared, and not overly salty. They cook steaks in line with requested temperatures. The place can definitely get noisy on busy nights, but it's a great experience. If you are in the mood to splurge a little, definitely give Steak 48 a try!

Best restaurant in the city -- truly unforgettable My experience at Steak 48 was nothing short of extraordinary. They went above and beyond to make my one-year wedding anniversary (and 11-year relationship anniversary) the most special day of my life. From the moment I walked in, the hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming -- even complimenting me, which honestly made me feel like a celebrity. We were escorted to a private booth beautifully decorated with rose petals on the table, a detail that completely took my breath away. The surprises didn't stop there. At the end of our meal, we were treated to a complimentary slice of cake and an unexpected gift of champagne glasses, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. The food was absolutely immaculate. I love how the steaks are served on hot plates so they continue cooking at the table -- perfection. And the mac and cheese? Easily the best in the city, no contest. Every single detail -- the service, the ambiance, the generosity, the warmth -- was flawless. Steak 48 didn't just give us dinner; they gave us a lifelong memory. Hands down, the best restaurant in Chicago.

Not recommended at all. The indifferent attitude is discriminatory Tonight, my family and I visited STEAK 48 in Chicago to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a meaningful Chinese holiday. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special celebration turned into a deeply disappointing experience due to the poor service and unreasonable policies. From the moment we were seated, our waitress Daisy seemed noticeably unfriendly. While she was warm and attentive to other tables, she barely paid us any attention. We brushed it off at first, but things got worse. Before we had even finished our wine and steak, she asked if we wanted the plates cleared--something we've never experienced at a restaurant of this caliber. To honor the festival, we brought a small mooncake--about the size of a cookie--and politely asked for an extra plate. The staff provided one without mentioning any extra charge. It wasn't until we received the bill that we discovered a $18 "outside food fee." No one had informed us of this policy, even though several staff members were nearby when we took out the mooncake. When we spoke to the manager to express our concerns, his attitude was dismissive and condescending. He insisted that "everyone should know" about their outside food policy and made no effort to acknowledge our perspective. We explained that, had we been informed, we would not have consumed the mooncake there, especially since we were already full from our meal. Charging $18 for a symbolic, bite-sized treat feels unreasonable and unfairly targeted--it left us feeling discriminated against, perhaps because we are foreigners. To clarify why the $18 fee is particularly unreasonable: we had already spent a significant amount on steaks and wine. The mooncake was a tiny, symbolic item for our festival, not a substitute for any dessert on their menu. Charging a fee that is typically applied to large outside cakes or bottles of wine for something of this size and nature is completely disproportionate and lacks common sense. It felt like a penalty for celebrating our own culture, rather than a fair policy. Between the inconsistent service, lack of policy transparency, and the manager's unprofessional response, we felt completely disrespected as customers. There is no service at all. It's not worth a tip at all .We will not be returning, and we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Our waitress was amazing. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the foods and what we would like based on our pallet we ordered the 22 ounce ribeye and a baked potato to split as well. As for drinks we had the espresso martini and pomegranate blood orange martini, both delicious and potent lol the vibe is very nice whether you're single or dating you can eat at the bar or at a table by yourself is dimly lit, which gives way to romance or friends just hanging out will definitely be back.

They hit it out of the park last night! We are multiple time repeat customers and this may have topped all other visits. From start to finish everything was excellent. We were seated quickly, had an excellent server, the drinks were on point, and the food did not disappoint! My steak was cooked to perfection (as was my spouse's) and the sides were phenomenal. Those sweet potatoes as always are the stuff dreams are made of! Their corn crème brûlée was also especially good. The warm caramel cake was a perfect end to the night. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants a good steak and doesn't want to go to a chain.

How strict is the dress code? Thinking about attending for my birthday and wanted to wear jeans and a sweater. Will this attire meet the dress code?

Especially not a good dinner option despite being excited for it for our Valentine's Day dinner. Food- really liked Caesar salad and Mac n cheese. However, this is a steak house. We ordered ribeye in medium and NY strip in medium rare. However, ribeye was medium rare and ny strip was cooked medium well. I considered telling our waiter but he never appeared at our table to ask about how our food was. He showed up half an hour later to ask if we wanted dessert. I didn't eat my ny strip because it was so dry and my husband had a few bites. Service- as mentioned above, the server barely showed up. Also our food arrived later than everyone next to us. The couple next to us got sat down after we put in our entree order and get they received their entree before we did. No apologies or context given on the delay. Also, I know they offer half orders for certain dishes like salad for takeouts and deliveries and saw older TikTok videos that mentioned getting half portions too. We asked if they do half portions so we can try more items in the menu, we simply got a "NO" without any kindness or explanation given. It was said as if we were asking them something stupid. Ambiance- I think the bar area is nice looking, but we were sat in the basement. It was crammed, the tables were small, and because it was a small room, you can really hear other tables conversations. For casual restaurants I don't mind that type of ambiance but if we are dropping more than $300 for 2 of us, I am going to compare it to comparable places in that price range: Bavettes, Gibsons, maple and ash, swift and sons, Alston, etc. this is significantly lacking compared to all of those "nice steakhouses". Theres not even a coat check. Also our leftover was packed in a cheap black plastic bag. Once again, not matching with the price point. We are locals and were very excited to try this place not far from us, but sadly, it was a truly disappointing experience and if anyone asked me if I'd recommend this place, I would say look elsewhere.

The ambiance is intimate, romantic, and just feels exclusive without trying too hard. I took my girl there for her birthday and she absolutely loved it -- which is always the real test. We had the ribeye and the Rotini Bianco, and both were excellent. The ribeye was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. The Rotini Bianco was rich, creamy, and done just right. Every dish felt intentional and well executed. Don't hesitate to book. If you're trying to impress or celebrate something special, this is the move.

The soondubu stew was rich and comforting, cocktails were on point, and the white peach sorbet was the perfect ending to the meal. For starters, we ordered the kimchi pork dumplings and grilled octopus, which both tasted great, but the kimchi flavoring did overpower everything. Our main course included the marinated short rib, wag rib eye, and a5 5 brisket which were all cooked to perfection by our server. However, my experience at Perilla Steakhouse was hands down frustrating. Upon arrival, things were off to a rough start when I could barely hear the server over the music. At times, I felt like our server was rushing us through our meal based on how much less attention he gave us versus the other tables. I'm not someone who needs my glass refilled every minute either to be clear, but things did feel off with how slow our meal was paced out and the general disinterest the server had in us. For reference, we arrived early to a nearly empty restaurant that hadn't started peak dining time yet. I recognize the steakhouse is an upscale, chic take on traditional Korean dishes and I admire the chef for sharing his culture with the city. I also understand restaurants are going to be more expensive, the closer you are located in relation to downtown. Even so, in comparison to other nearby high-end restaurants, the price to portion ratio for our meal felt off. For example, our $16 dumplings included 3 dumplings on a plate. Yes, there's an argument for inflation and the cost of quality ingredients, but I argue that at this price point we shouldn't have left hungry either.

The chicken paillard was very tasty but it seemed odd that the chicken and salad were both served on the same very hot plate. Luckily the salad didn't get warm enough to wilt the greens. Came here last night for dinner with another couple for the first time. While the food was good,…read morethe service was not so I don't think I'll be back. For starters, we had a reservation which I would recommend. We were seated right away and while the place is large inside, I'm not sure what walk-in availability is like. The food: we really enjoyed the octopus, escargot, I had the Filet Mignon Au Poivre, and the banana/coconut entremet. The octopus was tender and flavorful; octopus cooked right (especially in smaller pieces) is hard to find so I was impressed. The escargot was nice and buttery/garlicky, and piping hot. I LOVED my Filet with the green peppercorn cream sauce! It was delicious and my husband was surprised I ate so much of it. It was cooked exactly as I asked, the meat had good flavor, and the sauce was delicious and well balanced + the right consistency. Lastly, the banana and coconut dessert was a pleasant surprise. The banana flavor was fresh (not artificial) and had the right balance of coconut. It was creamy, not too sweet, and had the right balance of textures with the outer coating and the crumble underneath - if you like banana or coconut at all I'd say it's a must order! The creme brulee was just okay. My issue was the service - the table next to ours LIT ON FIRE because a menu was over the top of a candle. After burning half the menu and the fire was getting larger, our partners ran over and put it out with their napkins. They yelled and there was NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from the staff at all - at least 2 staff saw and one waiters eyes got big for a minute and she turned away. Not even a thank you from anyone to our partners for putting it out, and they had to ask for new napkins because theirs had black char on them. We were in the middle of enjoying our appetizers and my friend was just digging into her French onion soup from our first round and the staff kept trying to take our plates away. My friend had to tell them 3 times to please leave the soup at the table, and overall made us feel very rushed. We weren't taking a long time to eat at all so felt very weird? When the entrees were dropped on the table, my friend got a steak and they kept trying to give her a butter knife. It took multiple attempts to get the correct knife. Then once we were done eating it took a while to get our plates and old glasses cleared away. Overall service timing was off and their aggressiveness in the beginning of trying to take our plates away + the lack of response to A FIRE in the restaurant was pretty alarming. While I enjoyed the food there, the service was pretty bad and I feel unsafe with the lack of response to a fire in the restaurant so I don't think we'll return.

Tasty drinks - the grapefruit pilsner was a perfect choice for a warm spring evening, and our server was funny and sweet. Sticky ribs appetizer was spot on, with just enough heat to keep it interesting. We shared the fish and chips - perfectly cooked, crunch and sweet, great fries! House made slaw and tartar sauce was out of this world! Gotta make one comment on something we didn't have. The next table over, two middle aged women order cheeseburgers. When they came out I almost regretted ordering the fish. They were huge, juicy, and looked incredible. This two ladies, drinking their Chardonnays polished them off, that's how good they were. Next time... Dessert? Why not? Sticky toffee cake please. Perfect with a cup of black coffee. Out the door and on our way - we'll be back! Thanks!

Overall I was having a good experience. The food was OK. The menu was limited. Oh btw, the special that day was a $70 wag goo burger. That interaction between me and the server reminded me of a car salesman trying to sale me undercoating for the car i just purchased. REALLY I can't make it up. The experience dropped to a single star as our dining experience was nearing an end. The manager of the front of the house. Made a conscious effort to make it clear that the table we were dining was needed by waiting customers. I've never ever experienced this before in any restaurant in the Loop. I can't and will not recommend dining here. This is why I'm giving 1 star. I my opinion The Dearborn maybe they need to be in a different location. Maybe located far west of the Loop. I would suggest instead of Dearborn maybe Halsted St. and probably change their name to The Halsted. Im not going back. OH btw good luck in your new location.
