We recently hosted an executive client dinner here for about 35 people, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff was amazing, and our guests are still glowing about the evening. We started with some heavy hitters from the appetizer menu--the prime steakhouse meatballs and crispy shrimp were incredible, praised by all, and really set the tone for the meal. The bartenders have a strong pour hand and put together some top-tier mixed drinks to kick things off. For my main, I opted for the superfood salad to balance out the indulgence, followed by the bone-in Iberico pork chops. These were easily the second-best pork chops I've ever had (the #1 spot is a tough one to beat in New Orleans, but these came remarkably close). I paired them with a delicious Malbec, and I appreciated that my server never let my glass get empty. To wrap things up, we had the ultimate warm vanilla caramel cake. As one of my guests perfectly described it: "It's like a cake and ice cream had a beautiful baby." Between the flawless service and the high-end atmosphere, it was the perfect venue for a professional gathering. It's clear why they're a staple in the Chicago dining scene.
Thoroughly impressed with my experience at Steak 48. Dimly lit and intimate in the heart of the city you come here when you want a great cut of beef and the selection makes sure there's something for everyone regardless of preference. I went with the 45-Day Dry Aged steak alongside truffle butter and fries. Every bite was tender and deep flavored, and the truffle butter took it over the edge; easily one of the best steaks I've had in the city hands down. The fries were perfectly seasoned and individually crisped, not a soggy fry in sight. Both old fashions were well crafted and catered to your whiskey or rye preference. Service was attentive throughout, checked in consistently and never let my drink run empty. -Mr.
Great dining experience but a week later, I learned the Valet parked my car illegally and I recieved a $100 parking ticket while I was dining..........I wouldn't valet here again and it will be a long while before I return......The silence has been loud on this....

Excellent food in a wonderful atmosphere! The views from the second floor are amazing. I had the bone in ribeye. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. From start to finish, Steak 48 delivered an exceptional dining experience that hit all the right notes of indulgence, precision, and bold flavor. But before I describe an unforgettable meal, I want to begin by thanking the new GM Jennifer Seitaj for accommodating my request for a private dining booth in the back (pictured), the manager Kris Petrov for the tremendous on-site customer service, and of course my waiter Vincent who ALWAYS provides exceptional service-- appropriately attentive without being overbearing. Having arrived early we started in the warm and friendly bar area -- vibrant but not loud -- and enjoyed a delicious glass of Croggy Range "Te Muna Rd" Sauvignon Blanc (24 Marl, NZ). When seated knowing we'd have steaks at Chicago's premier steakhouse restaurant I ordered a bottle of an exceptional and reasonably priced Cabernet Sauvignon - The Calling ('20 Alexander Valley, CA) $94, a bold, well-structured full bodied wine with a long, elegant finish and balance. Sourced from Sonoma's renowned Alexander Valley - A classic expression of a California Cabernet. Steak 48 Food -- THE BEST! Appetizers set the tone beautifully. The crispy shrimp--tossed in a sweet Thai chili glaze and paired with a garlic aioli--was the perfect mix of sweet heat and creamy richness. The standout starter, however, was the chicken fried lobster tails. Served three to an order, these were a decadent treat: crisp on the outside with tender lobster inside, seasoned with Chesapeake Bay spices and complemented by a green chili aioli that added just the right kick. Worth every penny. For the main course, the steaks were grilled to perfection. The New York Strip arrived flawlessly medium rare, with a gorgeous sear and juicy, robust flavor. The filet mignon, also medium rare, was equally impressive--tender, buttery, and full of depth. The sautéed spinach side with sea salt and Parmesan was a simple yet elegant pairing, offering a garlicky, savory counterpoint to the rich meats. Dessert was no afterthought. The "Ultimate" Vanilla Caramel Cake lives up to its name--layers of moist cake, vanilla gelato, and airy whipped cream, topped with homemade toasted brown sugar cinnamon pecans for the perfect crunch. The red velvet bread pudding was equally show-stopping, melting together warm cake, vanilla gelato, sweet cream cheese, and white chocolate into a luscious finale. Every dish reflected thoughtful preparation and premium ingredients. Steak 48 nails the upscale steakhouse experience--bold, flavorful, and totally satisfying.
Back to Chicago and had to stop in. Service was on point and food excellent. We got filet, cooked perfect and tender. Got asparagus fries and corn crème brûlée, omg that corn is still amazing and the asparagus was no slouch either. Every trip to Chicago this is a stop.
This was such a nice experience for our anniversary. The restaurant was pretty dark inside and there is a dress code but the music was upbeat which, in my opinion, makes things feel young and energetic instead of too serious. The steaks were delicious. Loveddd how hot the actual plates were. The au gratin potatoes were amazing. They sent a dessert to us for the occasion and it was soooo delicious. I can't even put my finger on everything that was in it, I just knew there was red velvet cake, maybe some macadamia nuts?? I'm not sure but after everything we ate, we almost didn't finish it so it was the perfect size. Why 4 stars? Our waiter, was ..okay. He knew to be professional but the way he said things at times was kinda condescending so it could have brought the mood down if we allowed it to. Other than that, it was a nice time
We came to celebrate our anniversary and it not disappoint. We made reservations a few weeks prior and were seated right on time. They make a point to remind you to dress for the occasion but there were a few people in more casual outfits so I don't think the dress code is strictly enforced. The dinner rolls to start were fabulous - very fluffy but dense and filling. We started with the hanging bacon because it seemed like such a unique dish. It definitely lived up to the hype - each slice was super thick and flavorful and dripping in the truffle honey glaze. Honestly, I was pretty full after that and we still had a full line up of food to enjoy. We then split the beet salad, dry aged ribeye, and asparagus fries. The beet salad is always a classic. The dry aged steak was a nice twist to the normal wet aged version. They also were great about offering to pre-slice the steak for easy sharing or divide it into two separate plates from the start. For dessert we chose the ultimate warm vanilla caramel cake which they ended up comping for our anniversary. It was a hefty portion and came with a giant pile of whip cream and a personalized anniversary design. They also gave us mini chocolate chip cookies at the end as if all that food wasn't enough. Our server, Daniel, provided great recommendations and the rest of the staff did a great job clearing dishes and refilling drinks. However, sometimes I felt a bit rushed and they did take a few plates away when I still had a few more bites left.
It was our first time at the infamous stake 48 as it was the wife's birthday. Start the service was amazing along with the hospitality in rose petals all over the table. The cocktail list was extensive along with the crafted beers, whiskey's bourbons and incredible wine list both current and vintage. The steaks were delicious and the sides were perfect. If I could only make one complaint about the food. It would be the oysters. They just didn't seem as juicy and briny as that specific breed is known, for we also noticed there were a lot of guests wearing hats and hoodies, which was odd because they really force the dress code policy. both through OpenTable and on their website. I would suggest they change that and start cracking down unless they want it to be another Applebee's. Other than that, great place try it out!
Best steak iv ever had. I will say my steak did come out purple when I asked for medium. They threw it back on the grill and it came back PERFECT. The service there was phenomenal. Mashed potatoes were a huge hit as well.
My FAVORITE steakhouse in Chicago. I bring my parents here everytime they come to visit. My mom is super picky about steakhouses and asks to come everytime she comes to Chicago. Steaks are always hot and fresh and at the perfect temp. Sides like the butter whipped potato's and Mac & cheese are to die for! The appetizers are also all impeccable. They have some of the BEST rolls. They also brought my mom the sweetest birthday dessert to celebrate her last time she visited. Ambiance is dark and moody, which I love for a steakhouse.

Steak 48 was amazing. The customer service is top tier. The food was well prepared and tasty. I had the petite filet that was served on a hot plate (my personal favorite) paired with the roasted brussels sprouts. The 8oz filet was huge, definitely a sizable portion. Steak 48 was a nice place to have dinner in the city. The staff were very polite and detailed oriented. The decor is modern and I really enjoyed the knife wall I thought it was a fun touch to the decor. The restaurant itself is loud, in my opinion, for high end dinning. The waiter had to raise her voice so we could hear her describe the specials what makes Steak 48 menu unique. It was equally difficult to hear conversations at our table. Either the music was too loud or the acoustics in the space causing the issue. The cocktails were delicious and the wine list was great. Really solid options and the bartenders are very skilled in their craft. I really enjoyed the Hawaiian poke dish the fres was really fresh and the sauce that accompanied it was wonderful. The steak itself felt a little undercooked but their house tub is packed with flavor. The server recommended the crème brûlée corn && it did not disappoint. Very sweet and creamy and still maintained a great texture. The shells and cheese were creamy and yummy. The other sides fell short in comparison. Overall a nice place with great staff. read more
Absolutely fantastic. We came here with a big group and they treated us like a wedding party with superior service, terrific drinks and cool event space. But what really shines is the food. The spicy shrimp was addictive. Get it. The bread was melt in your mouth. Enjoy that too. Then we need to talk about the steak. I mean it is called Steak 48 for a reason. They cook it at 2500 degrees and then serve it on a plate heated to 500 degrees. So my first cut on it looked a little underdone but the plate kept it hot to perfection. And it was just so tender and so flavorful. Normally I want a sauce but I didn't need anything with it. Each bite was velvety smooth. One of my favorite steaks in recent memory. Dessert was good too -- a caramel cake but I was so full from the food and drink! A terrific Chicago steak place. Highly recommend! read more

I recently visited Steak 48 on a week night and I was incredibly impressed by everything the restaurant had to offer! As soon as you walk in, there is a coat check, which was a great touch if you don't want to carry your coat with you. The dining room was beautiful and lightly lit. As soon as we were seated, our waiter stopped by our table to provide us with menus and share the popular dishes with us. We got the crispy shrimp as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. I got the rack of lamb and Mac and cheese and my fiancé ordered the salmon and fries. Both dishes were amazing. The service was so quick and we were so impressed with how seamless the entire dining process was. We will most certainly return! read more

Had a fantastic dinner here while visiting Chicago. Great location. Plenty of shops, bars, and other places within walking distance. Came in for dinner with my friends. Inside is a little dim but stylish. Spacing is a bit tight. Food was delicious! The crispy shrimp deviled eggs and pork belly are great appetizers. I got the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy inside, a nice sear on the outside. Can't go wrong with the au gratin potatoes. Cocktails were delicious too. We racked up that bill lol but it was worth it. Service was amazing. Friendly and helpful staff. Reservations definitely recommended but were easy to make on their website. There's street parking or garages within a block or two. read more
It's been awhile since I gave an updated review. Just went here yesterday for my anniversary and it was amazing! Food was delicious, our waitress. Allie was wonderful. She went above and beyond wishing us a happy anniversary every chance she got. The drinks were fabulous as well! My husband and I each ordered a drink. I got a sangria (sooo good) and he got an old fashioned that he said was really good. We started with the crispy shrimp. Omg these were amazing! We each ordered a ribeye medium. It came out perfect! We also got mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts which were very good. For dessert we had the warm vanilla cake. Delectable! Thank you steak 48 for continuing to have amazing food! read more

Excellent food and service. What was ordered: Deviled eggs -no flavor Crispy shrimp -eh Petite Filet with sautéed blue cheese Petite Filet with truffle butter Petite Filet, as-is 12oz Filet Crab macaroni cheese Brussels sprouts Sweet corn -pass Garlic, crab mashed potatoes -off the menu All menu items were great. I cannot gate-keep this places. The food was amazing, we ordered the filet mignon 10/10 (amazing flavor), the butchers cut (outstanding), NY steak, lobster shrimp shells (100000/10), and Brussel sprouts with bacon (10/10). The food was delicious but what made it even better was the services. Yazmin was the server and did a phenomenal job. She provided detail insight into the menu and offered great suggestions. Yazmin went above and beyond. I will definitely be returning. read more

I revisited Steak 48 yesterday and the overall experience was much better than my first. To start, they sat us at a secluded booth that was very spacious and it was located near the kitchen so we got a nice view of the back of house. The waitress Alex was very nice and knowledgeable and checked on us often. She was not overbearing like the waiter from our previous visit. Now on to the food. Complimentary bread: 9/10 We got the half/half sea salt and garlic bread. Both options were delicious. Definitely some of the best bread I've had at a steakhouse. We didn't want to fill up on it but we ended up finishing it anyway. BLT wedge salad: 9/10 We started with the wedge salad which was honestly one of the best I've had. It came with a ton of bacon and the tomatoes were very fresh and sweet and I'm usually not a fan of tomatoes but these surprised me. It also had the perfect amount of dressing. Dry aged ribeye: 7/10; Wet ribeye: 6/10 We both ordered steak, I got the dry aged ribeye and my sister got the wet. We both preferred the dry aged. Both steaks were a bit undercooked to our liking. My sister thought her cut was too fatty and lacked flavor. Mine would have benefited from a bit more flavor as well. Shells and cheese: 10/10 The Mac was our favorite dish of the night. While I preferred the corkscrew noodle that they previously used, my sister thought the shells allowed for the cheese to really integrate into the noodle. The flavor is top tier and I would come back just for this lol. Kennebec fries: 8.5/10 The fries were really good. The truffle oil and parmesan added a light but flavorful touch. The goat cheese buttermilk sauce was okay. I would've preferred an aioli but I'm not really a fan of goat cheese to begin with. Warm vanilla caramel cake: 10/10 Words can't describe how good this cake is but I'll try my best. It is warm in the center, crispy on the edges, came with a mountain of whipped cream (which I love and will eat straight anytime I have the chance) and topped with delicious vanilla bean gelato. If you have enough room for dessert get this!! Like I said in the beginning, we had a much better experience this time around. I might have to try a different entree besides the steak if I do come back because it just hasn't met my standards yet (and I've tried a plethora of steakhouses in the city). Also I will add that the appetizers and sides are a bit pricier than other similar options when you consider the portions but that's just my opinion. read more

I wanted a nice & quiet dinner with my husband, unfortunately we got unlucky - there was a big group of people sitting across us, shouting, laughing and singing. They were so loud. Having lived in Los Angeles most of my adult life, I have graduated my palate from flippant to no-nonsense! This took years of training, patience, and (BTW) marrying a chef didn't hurt this process, either. The reason I bring this up is, I love food, in particular steak and steak houses. Starting with Chuck's Steakhouse by UCLA in the 1970's to Taylor's in downtown L.A. currently. Moving to Chicago three years ago I have made Gibson's Steakhouse my "Go To" restaurant for any and all occasions. But, I kept on hearing my west coast friends enthusiastically raving about Steak 48 in Beverly Hills? I never heard of this establishment, but my curiosity was tweaked. Little did I know that the Chicago rendition of Steak 48 was just a few blocks from my condo. Well, we (my wife, a friend and myself) went last night! First off, the sign, entrance and building looked like it was a very small space; WRONG! This lovely place was huge; and by huge I mean upstairs, downstairs and any other area you can imagine was just - BIG. I thought to myself walking in, that they could never fill this place up. WRONG AGAIN! This Friday night it was packed to overflowing. Let me start off by saying everything about this place just felt good! Every employee working here just wanted to make your dinning experience be pleasurable. - and they were very successful. The menu read like any classic steakhouse, and we jumped right into the fray: * The 48 Caesar Salad with a warm poached egg (nice touch) and really great croutons was excellent * The Pacific Yellow tail Hamachi was as good as any Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. It had crispy shallots, yuzu ponzu suace, chives, truffle oil and heart of palm - I could have had this (alone) and call it a night * Our Bone in Rib-eye was a perfect medium rare and their horseradish sauce was absolutely great. Our California Merlot paired wonderfully with this dinner and the accompanying parmigiana bread was terrific So all of the bluster and thunder from our L.A. friends was - Spot On! read more
I was so disappointed with this place. For starters, it's SO loud. They called in advance to remind us they have a "strict" dress code. Upon arrival, I was utterly surprised by the number of people wearing crocs, regular clothes or half naked. Clearly the dress code is not enforced. The staff: was very friendly and the service was great. Thank you to Z who made our night! He was funny and was very helpful with the menu. We ordered mocktails and they were amazing. The food: the ribeye was perfect, except for the ridiculously BURNING hot plate it came served on. I understand hot plate, but my steak and whipped potato's were so hot, I burned my mouth. The steak was sizzling for 15 minutes and spitting hot oil all over me. I couldn't touch it until it cooled down and had to ask for a cold plate. At that point it was overcooked. The oysters were good. Didn't have the fishy taste or smell which I appreciated. The garlic parm bread was so dense and dry, definitely skip it. The chocolate cake and cookies were delicious and the best part of the meal. Overall, for the price and the atmosphere, it wasn't worth it. The place was obnoxious, overcrowded and clearly there's no dress code. The food wasn't anything special to come back. Truly a shame because it's beautiful inside. It's a no for me, dog. read more

Such a sexy restaurant and one of the better steakhouses in chicago. I finally got to try this place and loved my experience. It was popping on a Tuesday evening, and we started with some champagne at the bar while waiting for our table. At the table we had some tartare, a salad, and fresh bread to start. This was all delicious. We also got a bottle of cayman vineyards Cabernet with our meal, which went so smoothly with the steak. I got the 45 day dry aged bone in rib-eye, and it was so tender and delicious! The sides we got were also rich and filling and went nicely with the steaks- the chef's potatoes and asparagus fries. Such a nice place but the staff was overbearing and at our table every 2 minutes where I could not have a proper conversation without being constantly interrupted. I even asked for a little time to ourselves and they still kept coming over. The steak was mediocre at best and the mushrooms were absolutely disgusting. Way overpriced for the quality and flavor. I don't recommend this place if you want to have a quiet Valentine's Day with your boyfriend. read more

Now, this is a steakhouse! I'm not sure if amazing is a strong enough word to describe our experience here. We were celebrating 4 birthdays in a private room. When I tell you the service was exquisite, I'm not exaggerating. The food was equally exquisite. Even their hiccups were great. My side of asparagus came out overcooked. I like my veggies with a bit of a crunch to them. 10 mins later, I had another plate of hot, steamed, crisp, crunchy asparagus that were utterly delicious! I can't wait to bring my parents here for their anniversary. I absolutely loved every aspect of this place. read more

Had to update my recent visit! Came back again in April for my birthday & anniversary, thank you to Tracee for amazing service & great vibes for our dinner. Everything was perfect from the oysters, lobster tails, bone-in rib eye (as it is a bit more fatty), mashed potatoes & sautéed sweet corn. Seafood continues to be fresh!!! The food will NOT disappoint. The bread service is phenomenal and makes it very difficult to not eat bun after bun before the actual meal arrives. We got the king crab and shrimp Mac and cheese, steak, corn cream brûlée, and Brussel sprouts. It has been 3 months since I dined here last, and I still dream about this meal. My wife raved about this steakhouse from a previous experience she had at their Houston location. Knowing I love a good steak we made a date night out of it. Upon arrival we were greeted kindly by the wait staff and we asked if we could expand our reservation because we had a couple of friends who wanted to join us for dinner and the host team accommodated our request to my surprise. They even seated us while we waited for the rest of our party who was 15 minutes away. Our waiter Z was the best. He brought a cheerful persona along with his wealth of knowledge on the menu's. The amount of choices can be intimidating but he guided us along our culinary journey. We started with drinks. I had their espresso martini which could be served clear or cloudy (w/Baileys), choices I have not been given before, and my wife had the strawberry rhubarb which was delicious and not overly strong. For appetizers we had Z's favorite and a popular item. The crispy shrimp which is breaded fried shrimp with a spicy creamy chilli sauce over it. We also had the yellow tail hamachi which light, refreshing and a palette cleanser. My wife order their fries which were my favorite because it wasn't ordinary. Truffles and Parmesan dusted with a goat cheese butter milk dip. Chef's kiss. For entries we had the Bone-in Ribeye, Bone-in KC strip, Scallops, and Sea Bass. All were served a la carte. Of the sides we ordered the cream corn creme-brûlée was my favorite. Towards the end of the meal we were greeted by the manager Chris who wanted to ensure we enjoyed our time and he politely encouraged us to try his favorite dessert, the vanilla cake. I'm generally not a dessert person, but this was a sweet warm decadent finish to my meal. Amazing experience and we will be trying their sister location in California. read more

I would just avoid wearing hats, T shirt or sneakers. Guys don't need a sport coat or anything like that. I've been there a few times with jeans and nice shirt. Same thing for women. I've seen plenty of women wear jeans and not necessarily a dress…
