    Celebrating my 50th!!
    Trevor C.

Celebrating my birthday at Steak 48 turned into a night I'll never forget. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt upscale yet welcoming, setting the tone for a truly special evening. The steaks were cooked to absolute perfection -- tender, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Every side dish complemented the meal beautifully, and the presentation made it feel like a true celebration. What made the night unforgettable was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make the birthday feel special, adding thoughtful touches that made the evening feel personal and memorable. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a milestone or create a lasting memory, Steak 48 delivers an experience as incredible as the food.

Back to Chicago and had to stop in. Service was on point and food excellent. We got filet, cooked perfect and tender. Got asparagus fries and corn crème brûlée, omg that corn is still amazing and the asparagus was no slouch either. Every trip to Chicago this is a stop.

Excellent food in a wonderful atmosphere! The views from the second floor are amazing. I had the bone in ribeye. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Ordered it rare and it was cooked to perfection. The sides were awesome too. Service was excellent. Very attentive! Definitely recommend this place for a romantic evening or a celebration.

It was our first time at the infamous stake 48 as it was the wife's birthday. Start the service was amazing along with the hospitality in rose petals all over the table. The cocktail list was extensive along with the crafted beers, whiskey's bourbons and incredible wine list both current and vintage. The steaks were delicious and the sides were perfect. If I could only make one complaint about the food. It would be the oysters. They just didn't seem as juicy and briny as that specific breed is known, for we also noticed there were a lot of guests wearing hats and hoodies, which was odd because they really force the dress code policy. both through OpenTable and on their website. I would suggest they change that and start cracking down unless they want it to be another Applebee's. Other than that, great place try it out!

Best steak iv ever had. I will say my steak did come out purple when I asked for medium. They threw it back on the grill and it came back PERFECT. The service there was phenomenal. Mashed potatoes were a huge hit as well.

From start to finish, Steak 48 delivered an exceptional dining experience that hit all the right notes of indulgence, precision, and bold flavor. But before I describe an unforgettable meal, I want to begin by thanking the new GM Jennifer Seitaj for accommodating my request for a private dining booth in the back (pictured), the manager Kris Petrov for the tremendous on-site customer service, and of course my waiter Vincent who ALWAYS provides exceptional service-- appropriately attentive without being overbearing. Having arrived early we started in the warm and friendly bar area -- vibrant but not loud -- and enjoyed a delicious glass of Croggy Range "Te Muna Rd" Sauvignon Blanc (24 Marl, NZ). When seated knowing we'd have steaks at Chicago's premier steakhouse restaurant I ordered a bottle of an exceptional and reasonably priced Cabernet Sauvignon - The Calling ('20 Alexander Valley, CA) $94, a bold, well-structured full bodied wine with a long, elegant finish and balance. Sourced from Sonoma's renowned Alexander Valley - A classic expression of a California Cabernet. Steak 48 Food -- THE BEST! Appetizers set the tone beautifully. The crispy shrimp--tossed in a sweet Thai chili glaze and paired with a garlic aioli--was the perfect mix of sweet heat and creamy richness. The standout starter, however, was the chicken fried lobster tails. Served three to an order, these were a decadent treat: crisp on the outside with tender lobster inside, seasoned with Chesapeake Bay spices and complemented by a green chili aioli that added just the right kick. Worth every penny. For the main course, the steaks were grilled to perfection. The New York Strip arrived flawlessly medium rare, with a gorgeous sear and juicy, robust flavor. The filet mignon, also medium rare, was equally impressive--tender, buttery, and full of depth. The sautéed spinach side with sea salt and Parmesan was a simple yet elegant pairing, offering a garlicky, savory counterpoint to the rich meats. Dessert was no afterthought. The "Ultimate" Vanilla Caramel Cake lives up to its name--layers of moist cake, vanilla gelato, and airy whipped cream, topped with homemade toasted brown sugar cinnamon pecans for the perfect crunch. The red velvet bread pudding was equally show-stopping, melting together warm cake, vanilla gelato, sweet cream cheese, and white chocolate into a luscious finale. Every dish reflected thoughtful preparation and premium ingredients. Steak 48 nails the upscale steakhouse experience--bold, flavorful, and totally satisfying.

This was such a nice experience for our anniversary. The restaurant was pretty dark inside and there is a dress code but the music was upbeat which, in my opinion, makes things feel young and energetic instead of too serious. The steaks were delicious. Loveddd how hot the actual plates were. The au gratin potatoes were amazing. They sent a dessert to us for the occasion and it was soooo delicious. I can't even put my finger on everything that was in it, I just knew there was red velvet cake, maybe some macadamia nuts?? I'm not sure but after everything we ate, we almost didn't finish it so it was the perfect size. Why 4 stars? Our waiter, was ..okay. He knew to be professional but the way he said things at times was kinda condescending so it could have brought the mood down if we allowed it to. Other than that, it was a nice time

My FAVORITE steakhouse in Chicago. I bring my parents here everytime they come to visit. My mom is super picky about steakhouses and asks to come everytime she comes to Chicago. Steaks are always hot and fresh and at the perfect temp. Sides like the butter whipped potato's and Mac & cheese are to die for! The appetizers are also all impeccable. They have some of the BEST rolls. They also brought my mom the sweetest birthday dessert to celebrate her last time she visited. Ambiance is dark and moody, which I love for a steakhouse.

What can be said about Steak 48 which hasn't already been said. Is it pricey? Absolutely. Is it worth it? Definitely. Drinks are strong and well prepared, appetizers are diverse and amazing. Steaks? Some of the best I've had. Well prepared, and not overly salty. They cook steaks in line with requested temperatures. The place can definitely get noisy on busy nights, but it's a great experience. If you are in the mood to splurge a little, definitely give Steak 48 a try!

Best restaurant in the city -- truly unforgettable My experience at Steak 48 was nothing short of extraordinary. They went above and beyond to make my one-year wedding anniversary (and 11-year relationship anniversary) the most special day of my life. From the moment I walked in, the hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming -- even complimenting me, which honestly made me feel like a celebrity. We were escorted to a private booth beautifully decorated with rose petals on the table, a detail that completely took my breath away. The surprises didn't stop there. At the end of our meal, we were treated to a complimentary slice of cake and an unexpected gift of champagne glasses, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. The food was absolutely immaculate. I love how the steaks are served on hot plates so they continue cooking at the table -- perfection. And the mac and cheese? Easily the best in the city, no contest. Every single detail -- the service, the ambiance, the generosity, the warmth -- was flawless. Steak 48 didn't just give us dinner; they gave us a lifelong memory. Hands down, the best restaurant in Chicago.

Not recommended at all. The indifferent attitude is discriminatory Tonight, my family and I visited STEAK 48 in Chicago to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a meaningful Chinese holiday. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special celebration turned into a deeply disappointing experience due to the poor service and unreasonable policies. From the moment we were seated, our waitress Daisy seemed noticeably unfriendly. While she was warm and attentive to other tables, she barely paid us any attention. We brushed it off at first, but things got worse. Before we had even finished our wine and steak, she asked if we wanted the plates cleared--something we've never experienced at a restaurant of this caliber. To honor the festival, we brought a small mooncake--about the size of a cookie--and politely asked for an extra plate. The staff provided one without mentioning any extra charge. It wasn't until we received the bill that we discovered a $18 "outside food fee." No one had informed us of this policy, even though several staff members were nearby when we took out the mooncake. When we spoke to the manager to express our concerns, his attitude was dismissive and condescending. He insisted that "everyone should know" about their outside food policy and made no effort to acknowledge our perspective. We explained that, had we been informed, we would not have consumed the mooncake there, especially since we were already full from our meal. Charging $18 for a symbolic, bite-sized treat feels unreasonable and unfairly targeted--it left us feeling discriminated against, perhaps because we are foreigners. To clarify why the $18 fee is particularly unreasonable: we had already spent a significant amount on steaks and wine. The mooncake was a tiny, symbolic item for our festival, not a substitute for any dessert on their menu. Charging a fee that is typically applied to large outside cakes or bottles of wine for something of this size and nature is completely disproportionate and lacks common sense. It felt like a penalty for celebrating our own culture, rather than a fair policy. Between the inconsistent service, lack of policy transparency, and the manager's unprofessional response, we felt completely disrespected as customers. There is no service at all. It's not worth a tip at all .We will not be returning, and we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Our waitress was amazing. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the foods and what we would like based on our pallet we ordered the 22 ounce ribeye and a baked potato to split as well. As for drinks we had the espresso martini and pomegranate blood orange martini, both delicious and potent lol the vibe is very nice whether you're single or dating you can eat at the bar or at a table by yourself is dimly lit, which gives way to romance or friends just hanging out will definitely be back.

They hit it out of the park last night! We are multiple time repeat customers and this may have topped all other visits. From start to finish everything was excellent. We were seated quickly, had an excellent server, the drinks were on point, and the food did not disappoint! My steak was cooked to perfection (as was my spouse's) and the sides were phenomenal. Those sweet potatoes as always are the stuff dreams are made of! Their corn crème brûlée was also especially good. The warm caramel cake was a perfect end to the night. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants a good steak and doesn't want to go to a chain.

How strict is the dress code? Thinking about attending for my birthday and wanted to wear jeans and a sweater. Will this attire meet the dress code?

Hi Fred, yes we do allow jeans and a sweater! We look forward to seeing you.

    Is your meat halal?

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. We do offer 2 Halal dishes, our rack of lamb and the Wagu filet.

Will outdoor seating be available during the winter? And if so, how will a comfortable temperature be maintained?

Mainly take out but have seating on the inside.

Website says "Proper Attire Required". Please elaborate on what that would be for both men and women?

I would just avoid wearing hats, T shirt or sneakers. Guys don't need a sport coat or anything like that. I've been there a few times with jeans and nice shirt. Same thing for women. I've seen plenty of women wear jeans and not necessarily a dress… Read more

While I wasn't a big fan of the taste of my drink and dessert, my friend enjoyed both of theirs. Rather, the service was excellent and the views were amazing. My friend ordered The Rocher for dessert, which includes hazelnut cake, mascarpone chantilly, and smoked maldon salt. I ordered a Baked Alaska, consisting of citrus cake, lemon cream, toasted meringue, and salted white chocolate crunch. We both also ordered cocktails. I cannot recall the name of the drinks. I asked for my drink to be fruity and sweet, but it wasn't enough of either for me. The Baked Alaska was fine but too much of various flavors. I wouldn't fault the restaurant for the drink or dessert taste as I know others really enjoyed theirs. Our server was most attentive and very helpful. We found that making a reservation on Open Table only offered a certain number of time slots, and all of them involved having dinner and not just drinks or a dessert. Reservations can also be made on their website though we chose to speak to the front desk about a reservation. Going up to the bar is first come, first serve though. We ended up making an Open Table reservation and were told it was okay to only order drinks and desserts. Cindy's is named in honor of Marian "Cindy" Pritzker, a beloved Chicago philanthropist. It sits on top of the 13th floor of the hotel under a glass atrium and offers views of Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and beyond. We tried several appetizers; the Hamachi Cone, Caviar Cone, Asian Taco, Neptune's Pillows, Shrimp Cocktail and Iberico Jamon. We also shared a bottle of Cava. Everything was fine but to be frank the Shrimp Cocktail was the best thing we ate, simple and perfectly fresh. The service was pushy, when a server wants to take you order less than 3 minutes after sitting down, it feels like you're on a conveyor belt. We felt the prices were way out of line, with tip I spent almost $500 for a bottle of cava and appetizers for two people, for that, the food should have been more memorable. We spent the same amount for two off us to have the 12 course tasting menu at Atsumeru a couple of weeks ago and Bar Mar's food isn't in the same league. We will continue to financially support Jose's World Kitchen but not his restaurants.

Best calamari I have ever had. Highly recommend the chocolate fudge pie. It was to die for! It is a very cool place. I will definitely make another stop when I'm in Chicago.

Walking into the Chicago Grand Avenue Joe's was like walking into a full elevator - difficult, but not impossible. This place was jammed, on an early Thursday night. I guess the word is out - this place is good. I grabbed a high top bar table right in front of a TV with the Cubs game on and got everybody's attention in the very sports centric city! I know "Joe's" menu very well and I ordered: * Their Wedge salad with a ton of accoutrements and asked for this salad to be chopped and tossed. It was excellent * Their fried calamari with two dipping sauces which was also very good and filling. * A light pale pilsner that (again) was very good paired excellently with my order. I guess what I'm trying to say is - this place earned such a stellar reputation that being in this sea of happy diners is well deserved. The staff was accommodating, the ambience was wild and wooly and the people were enjoying themselves, to no end, me included.

My daughter asked to come here so we came downtown on a Friday around 7:30pm and it was pretty crowded, but by it only being two of us our wait time was less than 10 minutes. Once seated you scan the QR code to look over the menu and once decided you go to one counter to place your food order and the bar to place your drink order, they then bring your food to the table and our food came pretty quick after ordering. Bib on, gloves on, time to dig in... My daughter ordered the bag with shrimp, crab legs, corn and potatoes and I ordered lobster tails, corn and potatoes and two lemonades (lemonades were delicious!) We ordered our food with the everythang sauce (which is a mix of all their sauces) and it was really good and really flavorful. Messy is to be expected but surprisingly the food mess was manageable and did not take away from my dining experience. The amount of crab legs in my bag to me did not justify $32 and if it wasn't for the potatoes and two corns I'm sure I would of still been hungry. Seafood boils are not a cheap experience neither, our meals with the two lemonades and no alcohol was $110, so definitely not an every weekend dining option, but leaving I did see on their info board that their shrimp, crab bags are $28 Monday - Thursday and they look to have a pretty good happy hour so this might be a reason for a quicker return. Overall my experience was pretty good.

The ambiance is nice inside and gets busy a little after happy hour. I would say their happy hour deal is such a good deal and if you wanted to you can share with other people. Loved that they have spice levels like hot to extra spicy. The jalepeno corn bread was really good and flavorful. The mango lemonade is also good but wished it was a little colder. The beignets can get a little messy but they were good as well being that it was my first time.

A huge thank you to our server, Jimmy. His service was impeccable; he was patient and took the time to explain the menu in detail, which we truly appreciated. The food was amazing across the board. We shared a variety of dishes, including the lobster bisque, ahi tuna tartare, and the deviled eggs topped with caviar. For mains, the snapper, shrimp scampi, teriyaki salmon, and chicken were all cooked to perfection. Make sure to try the smoked gouda tater tots and mashed potatoes as sides--they were delicious. We ended the night by sharing the warm butter cake with ice cream, which was the perfect birthday treat. Even as non-drinkers, we had a fantastic time. This is an excellent restaurant and we highly recommend it for any special occasion!

We began with the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, they were very filling, paired with a sharp horseradish mustard aioli. The Baked Oysters were not my favorite with too much crust making them dry.
