I like this Starbucks because it's spacious. I usually stake out at the long table if I plan to stay and do work. You'll probably be sitting among gamers and high school and college students. It's noisy because the space is large, but it become white noise. Parking can be a bit of a hassle. Street parking is coin metered and limited. There is free parking in a lot behind Starbucks and across the street. I've found most of the staff to be pleasant. However, there is one visit I think is worth noting. During one of my visits, one of the male employees was using a blender, and a female employee from the back room yelled at him to "STOP USING THE BLENDER." "TURN IT OFF. TURN IT OFF," she said. I don't know how those blenders work and I don't claim to be in a position to tell the staff how to run their business, but it was loud and shocking enough that people's heads turned and their eyes widened. I didn't mind the disturbance, but I felt bad for him. But for the most part, it's a great place to hang out, do work, or just grab a drink and walk around Montrose. Edit: I struggled between giving 3 and 4 stars. I'm switching to 4 because I've been to this location probably 50+ times and I believe the experience I described above was an unusual experience. read more

This place is way too crowded. Spacious, but too crowded. Most of the baristas are kind, but there was this ONE man (old guy with glasses) in particular that really grinded my gears. All I did was ask if the Refresh Tazo Tea was minty, and this guy gave me the biggest attitude and said, "Uhh...yes..." like as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. And then proceeded to roll his eyes at everything for the remainder of the conversation. Really? REALLY? RUDE!!! Sir, I don't need your attitude, I just need my tea. Minus one star. Let me just say, this is the to go starbucks for me. It's close to my work, in and out within minutes. Employees at this location are on fire, the second you step in the door you hear them greeting you. They greet you while ringing up customers, making drinks, doing inventory or even in the back. Hugo (one of the supervisors) knows what he's doing, I give props to him. I give props to everyone but Hugo knows how to manage his team!! I was sad when they shut down due to Covid but after opening back up with the new changes and guidelines, it doesn't look any different with the shields and 6ft apart. They make it so friendly that you don't even realize it. I've been to other locations where they don't even have the signs on the group for social distance but this one does. I've have been coming here for several months now and it's a pleasure to have a nice cuppa (Rooibos is my fav) or coffee towards the end of the night, when the crowds and the noise dies down a bit. I am a low key and love to relax with my startbucks bevvy and whatever nonsense I'm cramming for class. The staff warrants the 5 star rating, excellent job to whoever does the hiring here, Everyone is so helpful and friendly! I usually go there every weekend as my kid takes art classes 5 doors down the street. The service is great, the staff is very quick and always very nice. This is a specific review for what I experienced yesterday about 2:30 pm, as I was waiting for some croissants and an iced tea lemonade. We were about 5 costumers inside the store, we were all keeping social distance and we were all wearing masks. Two minutes before leaving, a 6th costumer a male probably in his early 30's came inside wearing NO mask and NONE of the employees said a word. The state order is to wear a mask if you are in a public space or an indoor setting, so how come nobody from the store couldn't' say a word or advise that guy to comply to the order? It really made people uncomfortable. I have been in several Starbucks during the quarantine and they all have signs about COVID-19 measurements and precautions but I was really surprised nobody tried to enforce the order or ask the guy to follow the safe protocol inside the store....I might not go back there while the quarantine is still on :( read more

They suggested we try their new impossible breakfast sandwich which was next level - and I'm an avocado toast girl. We get to Montrose often for the farmer's market, the Art Walk and the Art Festival. Today we stopped for the Art Walk and I needed a little jazz so I had to hit the Starbucks on the corner. Finally, finally I found a crew who know how to leave a bit of room in a coffee. Except for the Starbucks in the Albertson's in Agoura Hills, 8,439,710 Starbucks somehow cannot pour a coffee that is not to the tippity top. I need a little room and they did it!! Extremely unsatisfied with this location. I have a custom drink order which isn't THAT DIFFICULT, yet it seems to be uncharted territory for the faux baristas working at 90% of every Starbucks location. All I want is an iced grande quad ristretto with two pumps vanilla, extra ice, and breve to the top and not have it shaken or stirred. NOT THAT DIFFICULT... right? WRONG. First off the girl taking my order couldn't focus for more than three words and I had to repeat my order at least 4 times. Like LISTEN PLZ. idk where your brain is right meow but you're the on the clock at your job! Secondly, the girl making my drink took advantage of my extra ice request and put so much ice in my drink I couldn't even fit a straw.... I commented "I appreciate the extra ice, but it defeats the purpose if I can't even put a straw in my cup" she then picked up my drink and rolled it in her hands to break up the ice and in the process of doing that stirred my drink. I WAS LIVID. I wasn't about to have her remake my drink as I was in a hurry because my boyfriend and puppy were waiting outside in the sun, plus she probably wouldn't have made it correctly anyhow. She then put it in a larger cup and said she could put more breve to the top... and I'm over here like, "so you POURED MY DRINK in a bigger cup which in turn mixed the shots and the breve which I specifically asked you NOT to do, and then you're trying to add more breve? I'm not trying to drink straight half and half here." I walked out laughing and shaking my head. Was about to throw hands at this entire establishment. THANKS FOR NOTHING STARBUCKS. A big shout out to the folks at the Montrose store. Came in and placed an order for four of us, walked back to my office and didn't notice my badge fell off in the store. Within about 30 minutes I had a call from the store telling me they had my badge. The only thing the store had to go on was my name on the badge. I really like this Starbucks location. It's a fairly small store in quaint, little Montrose. The store itself is cozy and comfortable to sit and drink your beverage of choice while reading the newspaper or using wi fi. Normally, I would not write a review for a global brand, not to mention a national chain such as Starbucks (especially because virtually every Starbucks is the same, and you know what to expect in terms of food, drink, and the general atmosphere), but this one is a special Sbux, if I do say so myself. Situated on the corner directly across from its competitor Coffee Bean, this Starbucks is one of my favorites, and definitely the one I frequent most often. The location is ideal for people watching, and thought the outdoor patio is not expansive, it has enough seats (and Montrose isn't ever overly crowded) that it is doable. I especially like the spot nearest to Honolulu, because it gives you a great view of the intersection and surrounding businesses. The workers here are all great, I haven't met one that isn't friendly and good at what they do. Tim does a great job as the manager, and he is always a good person to strike up a conversation with. The parking is easy, with a huge lot across the street behind the line of businesses that make up the bulk of Montrose shopping. It is a very walkable area, and it lends itself well to enjoyable window shopping. Montrose is a nice quiet suburb of Glendale, and the surrounding stores and shops all look very cute and are emblematic of a classic American small town. You can find a bevy of computer gaming geeks and college students studying on the inside on any given day, but they mostly keep to themselves, and the walkability of the area means If you're looking for a coffee shop with a view, this is the place to be. read more

I was curious about how the new location would work out but I was very much pleasantly surprised. No offense to Coffee Bean but I enjoy Starbucks more. So I was excited to find out they were putting a Starbucks in Montrose so I can pick up my drink and walk. The staff is so friendly even when i managed to spill an Americano when they were packed. Not too long after the manager, Joe, made sure I had a fresh one. I typically go in for Iced Coffee and most of the staff know who I am which is a personal touch I really appreciate. It's a Starbucks a very nice place but avoid with a passion after the teen boppers go there after school. The service is prompt and the staff is very friendly. I usually avoid places that describe size of drinks other than small, medium and large really we have gotten used to saying tall vente and grande. What language is that? This Starbucks location is convenient since it's right at the corner near my office, but the service is so slow at all times! It's almost as if they are running lean to control costs. I rated this 3 stars only because most of the associates are so nice. It's not their fault that they are running crazy to compensate for the understaffing. read more

This conveniently located coffee shop used to be great for picking up a cup and some quick breakfast on the way to work but it seems there might be new management now. The end result: Staff no longer smiles or even makes eye contact for that matter. The large heavyset lady with short hair sighed as if I was bugging her to inquire about the status of my sandwich. I had waited ten minutes. It never even crossed her mind why I was just standing there at the counter. Turns out, she forgot. No apology, just "Oh, hold on another minute ". I cancelled my order and got a refund. I noticed behind the counter looked dirty and disorganized. The front windows were smudged with grease and hand prints (usually a tell tale sign of an establishments quality). Never going back. Plenty other locations in the area. read more

Love this new Starbucks, very spacious with lots of seating. It's one of the few coffee places that has lots of room with the cream stand out of the way, space for customers to line up, and seating that doesn't crowd. Location is perfect, right on the corner of Ocean View. One of the things I like best about Montrose is being able to take my family out for walks, but we always had to drive out of the way to Starbucks for coffee first. Now it's just part of the routine. I come to starbucks over coffee bean because coffee bean has sugar in all their milk alternatives but way better service. The service at this Starbucks is.....errrr... (I hate making bad reviews) but it's pretty bad. I thought it was just one time but nope, 10 times later I still have the same feeling. Everyone always seems like they are in a bad mood, employees (I don't think) like each other or have annoyances or drama amongst each other. Maybe it's one bad apple affecting the Apple cart. Who knows. They should definitely invest a little effort into their vibe. Something is off. The barista, Heather, was so rude. She filled my grande white mocha with 6 oz of foam and then gave me an attitude and I asked her to take the foam off and fill my drink. Our bagels took forever to come out even though it wasn't busy and the lady didn't even attempt to call my name. Def not visiting this location again read more

They NEVER have nonfat or whole milk out when every other Starbucks has it out at least in the morning. I've asked many times for "nonfat milk for the bar" and they never even have it available to put at the bar even early in the morning. It's extremely inconvenient as I want about an inch of nonfat milk in my drink and I can't ask them upfront to put it in as they often put too much. Once my drink is ready, I have to then ask for nonfat milk which means I wait even longer for a barista to get the gallon jug, take my drink back and pour too much milk thus ruining my drink. You know what solves this problem? Putting milk at the bar as you're supposed to do in the morning. I spoke to a barista about this and they said "you need to speak to the store manager" which I assume means the store manager has instructed them to not do their job. I suppose the good news is there's a Coffee Bean across the street that I can make my regular morning stop as they seem to always have milk out at all times. read more

This is definitely my favorite Starbucks! They make my coffee perfectly every time I go and all the employees are super friendly. Even when it gets busy and the line is super long they still smile and ask me how my day is going and don't rush me. They are super quick at getting your coffee and food out too! read more

This location is like any other Starbucks but one of the employees, might have been the manager, needs to calm down. The one with the plugs in her ears. She was so loud and obnoxious and I could barely enjoy my coffee because all I could hear was her grating high pitched tone yelling at all the other employees and being fake and obnoxious to all of the customers.
