The coffee was smooth and the sweetness level was good. I didn't taste too much horchata though. It was more like your typical mocha. Both coffee drinks were smooth, rich, and well-made without being overly sweet. The Smashed Melon energy drink was light, refreshing, and a fun choice for a hot Arizona day. All 3 were served with chocolate covered espresso beans, Yay Service was friendly, and our drinks were prepared quickly. But they have the same products and the service was nice. I have always enjoyed the community feel that Coffee Rush promotes. It has always been my late night hangout spot to meet with a friend or just read a book. Coffee Rush Rush offers a variety of coffee drinks, teas, Italian sodas and chillers. For snacks, they have baklava and muffins, I like my coffee strong without flavors and always get a latte or a red eye. There are a few unwritten rules at Coffee Rush. Just remember that this isn't Starbucks. So try leaving the Starbucks terminology at home. They also don't allow outside drinks and there is no hanging out without ordering a drink.

We settled on a French toast breve, an iced caramel blondie, and a sunrise fuel. My favorite was definitely the French toast breve...it wasn't overly sweet but was full of flavor. The caramel blondie was average. The sunrise fuel was the perfect pick-me-up for my non-coffee loving teenage son. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're in town visiting my parents.

We came here afterwards and got a couple of drinks near closing time. Black Rock Coffee has really taken the Valley by storm since opening their first location in Arizona. In fact, this Portland-based coffeeshop has expanded to almost 150 locations in the U.S. in almost twenty years. Black Rock Coffee offers a variety of drink options like drip coffee, mocha, espresso drinks and hot tea. I like that even though they are a big chain now, they still do their best to connect to the local community. Black Rock Coffee Bar usually offers a free drink during grand opening of every location that they open. Black Rock Coffee Bar has both walk-up and drive-thru service. I usually get an Iced Latte, but I sometimes I will grab one of their creations from time-to-time. The Irish Coffee, Mexican Mocha and Caramel Truffle are a few favorites of mine. I especially enjoy coming here during the Fall and holiday season. Black Rock comes up with some fun festive drinks.
