I've been to a handful of BR locations and haven't had a bad experience. My go-to is a honey cinnamon oat milk latte. They are very consistent and always make it how I like it. The drive through was quick and the coffee arrived hot. Glad we picked half sweetened coz it was good, the syrup makes it way too sweet making it almost like a dessert. Yummy, strong iced coffee! Great flavors on a small menu. Industrial modern interior . I got the iced caramel truffle (chocolate mocha) with almond milk. I would say if you don't like strong coffee (like me), get a creamier milk option. I'm lactose intolerant and was happy to see the milk alternative options, but I should have gotten soy. Positive experience after a rocky start. Used the drive through and the first young man that we encountered (over the speaker) was impatient and low energy. When we got to the window, it was a COMPLETELY different story! A different young man was working the window and he had all the personality, kindness, patience, and care that anyone would want from a customer service position. We had no problems with this Black Rock location. We walked in to order - the drive thru seemed very long with tons of cars. Walked in and there was nobody in line ahead of us. Only a few customers were inside waiting for their orders. Ordered strawberry smoothies and they were so good! I have been a customer of this location for approx 3 yrs. The first two years were amazing, especially while Ben was the manager. My blondies were consistent, no matter the size. This year however I've had to have them remake my blondie many times. The medium and xl taste better than the large, why? I have always asked for very light ice. Today may have ended my going to the Val Vista location. I ordered my usual iced blondie with almond milk, very light ice. My drink came with too much ice and was not blended well at all. I asked for them to remedy the ice problem as I was in my car. I was shocked when a girl I've never seen there before suggested they do a cold pour?, but that they would have to charge me more. Now these drinks are already very expensive, $9 for an xl, and they expected me to pay more for very light or no ice? When I said that I didn't understand because Starbucks has never charged me more. The girl, making sure that I knew she was important, the manager, decided it was a good idea to argue and tell me that Starbucks does the same thing. I did not get my drink fixed. Clearly the customer isn't as important as she is. I absolutely love the Blackrock blondie when it's made right, but they have very spotty customer service. That's where Starbucks has them beat. One of my favorites is now open in Gilbert! Always friendly service and coffee concoctions are on point. I will sometimes crave three different menu items. Item is is the sweet cold foam cold brew. The texture of the foam holds together stronger than other toppers, which offers the satisfying experience of getting a "bite" of foam as you sip the rich cold brew. The second item I crave is the Mexican mocha. While I don't always drink mochas, when I do, I like them warm and with cinnamon. This drink has enough spice to make it interesting without overpowering the coffee flavor. Last, I dig the fuel drinks. I prefer the sugar free options because they are more gentle on my sensitive teeth (I am a delicate flower). Be sure to ask about the flavor combinations, because the fuel base can be sugary, sugar-free, or organic. Then, the added flavor may have sugar too. Whatever direction you go, you can also add different juices and make neat concoctions. Any questions? The baristas are always super friendly, and ready to help you out. My kids love BR, because it's one of a few drive-thrus that will engage them long enough to chat. You'll see me again soon. read more

Get this! I ordered a medium coffee with no ice, and was charged .75 extra'! for what they call a "full pour!" So In other words they are ripping us off, just because I got my full drink and they couldn't add a bunch off ice. Lol so that means they owe me .75cents'! And the nerve to ask for a tip! Which I gave that's how I found out. They don't even give you the option, and feel it's ok to charge you. I was not even told about the charge until it was too late then she said well do you want me to take the coffee back!???! Unbelievable. Never left a review before but this one takes the cake. Pulled up to the window at 8:30 PM with my brights on because my regular lights are burnt out and I'm replacing them. Cashier's greeting: "Are your brights on?" I lightly explained the situation to him and he remarked: "Well they messed up the guy ahead of you." Sheesh, could've just warned me my brights were on. I then let him know it was my birthday and I wanted to use the birthday freebie. I read off a drink combo from my phone that I wanted to try, and the guy stops me and asks, "Are you getting this drink for someone else?" I told him no, a bit flustered. When the guy asks to see my driver's license (for proof of birthday, standard), he comments "I don't think it's the 15th [literally today, as if I wouldn't know which day is my birthday] but I'll pretend it is." Then walks away and audibly smack talks to the other workers while the other workers make eyes at me. So, not feeling great as it is. When the guy handed the drink to me (which I requested to have no ice), it was half full. I kid you not. I've never had a Black Rock omit drink like this just for having no ice. I have attached a photo of this pathetic mess they had the nerve to give me--knowingly, on my birthday. Never had a worse experience at any coffee place. Bonus points, I was so upset that I even forgot to ask for a Pup-Cup for my dog who just had a stroke today. Completely spoiled a really special day for me and I will be sure to discourage my friends from ever going here, especially during the night shift. read more

Suburban soccer moms turn into Mad Max cosplayers, teenagers disgrace the sanctity of their provisional license, and the kind old man next door will push 40 in a 2 mph lane to cut you off. Some people are not cut out for this dog eat dog world, and I'm one of them. People have no etiquette and will blatantly cut you off even if you were there first and the good samaritan car will always be right in front of you and allow 50 people ahead.
