Ok, I will say it, I am a location snob and don't love restaurants in shopping centers. We were visiting from Napa and my husband found this spot. He made sure NOT to tell me much about it until we arrived. I was starving after driving for 4 hours so went with it. There was a line, which he did warn me about, and a bit of a wait. The interior of the space is cute. They have seating on both sides outside. We wanted sun so we sat in the parklet, which TBH I'd like to see this trend disappear post pandemic (unless they are really well done). But I'll get to it, when I say this was one of the best meals I've had in awhile I mean it. I am still thinking of those chilaquiles. Mexican/Asian fusion is an odd mix for me, I love both separate, but it's hard to execute well, but those chilaquiles were the best I have ever had. I'm usually not a fan of fusion restaurants but Spork does the Asian-Mexican fusion right. The food was delicious and had a hint of authenticity. I got one of their specials yam coconut curry with rice. My friend thought it was too thick and salty but when served with rice I liked it. The pork noodles with fish sauce and pork belly taco special were delicious. You can't go wrong with these two items. The portion was decent, but if I was really hungry like after the gym it wouldn't have filled me up. The interior was super cute. This place would be a good date spot; it's casual, not too crowded, not too loud, and not too quiet. We went in around 7:30pm on a Saturday with decently full tables around us, but line to order food was no longer than a 6 minute wait and finding a table was no issue. Great friendly service, but the food was just okay for us. Currently there is a limited menu amd outside seating only. The lomo saltado was flavorful, as well as the spicy fried chicken with kim chee. The kids meals were not good at all. My daughter ordered the kid's chicken bowl with rice, which looked like they gave her the shredded left over pieces from the bottom of the pot. Sue said it needed sauce. My son ordered the kid's chicken and noodle bowl, which he said "had no flavor." I tried it, and it was rice noodles that were colored with a little bit of sauce. read more

This place stands out as being extremely well run (and reasonably priced) with good service and excellent food--all things that are hard to come by in a post Covid dining experience. Every aspect of the experience from ordering (they'll serve you drinks in line and add to your bill), to seating (they usher everyone to a table after counter ordering and have a pleasant waiting area for larger parties so no one is awkwardly standing around waiting for tables to open). The menu had range and everything we ordered was good if not excellent. They had lots of alcohol free options and a kids menu (though kid portions were super small so not best option for a hungry kid). Will be back! read more

I'd have to say the food was good. My wife and my two sons arrived around a little after 4pm . There was one couple ahead of us ,needless to say it wasn't too busy. We ordered some food and drinks , cost $75 I tipped $15. Food came out in about 15-20 minutes, we were enjoying ourselves and ordered a few more drinks,asked for some boxes for our leftovers, and got up to go to the bathroom and when I came back my wife was in shock that the waitress came by and said this is a gentle nudge for you to leave we need this booth . Now it was getting busier by now but it was only 5:30 , we had only been there for about an hour and 15- 20 minutes. I guess what I'm trying to say is we were not talking advantage of the booth and we were good paying customers and I feel like we shouldn't have been treated like that!!! read more

We had the spicy pork noodles that were a combination of several taste that paired well together followed by the spicy fried chicken, very hearty with complex flavors, stunning entree. We also had the potato bacon taco and the carnitas taco with the house margarita. Perfect flavors with spices that hit your pallet just right. The margarita paired well with our entrees and had the perfect stiffness to it. Don't change a thing! The vibes are vibrant at Spork. The decorations and dishes pop with colors. The ambience is just plain cool. I'm knocking them a star for not being truly innovative - having Thai and Mexican dishes on the menu separately without finding unique ways to combine them is a missed opportunity - but the quality of the food is to the highest caliber at a great price. What's more, the staff are the kindest! Many of them would come by over and over and ask us how we were enjoying our meal. "Spork" feels like a home, and for that reason I'll always try to stop by when I'm in Bend. This time we tried the "Rice Bowl with Fried Tofu". It's now my favorite item on the menu. The crisped rice is topped with peanuts and cooked with a sweet, salty, and spicy sauce. With the kimchi on the side it's perfect. The "Catfish Yellow Curry" is a seasonal special. The gInger flavor was too strong and the curry could have been thicker. However, the complex blend of basil and fried shallots made for a fantastic dish. The catfish was superbly succulent. The balance between sweet, umami, salty, acid, heat is perfection. Every ingredient enhances the others. Dan Dan also satisfyingly perfect. Cucumber salad we had last time and enjoyed just as much on repeat. The steak salad felt like it needed noodles or rice to hold it and the dressing together. I might get rice on the side or order a rice-based dish with it. That too disappeared. Fresh, crispy lettuce, sprouts and herbs. On our last night in Bend, we decided to order take out to eat in our hotel room. I placed our order over the phone for: -Dan Dan Noodles -Spicy Fried Chicken -Lomo Saltado -Shredded Pork Rice Bowl When we went to pick up our food, the place had an eclectic atmosphere and smelled heavenly. We couldn't wait to dig in to our food after reading so many glowing reviews. Each and every one of these dishes were so colorful and I could tell that they really put a lot of effort into creating these dishes to not only be visually appealing, but with their combinations of flavors. Yes, some of it was on the spicy side, and maybe a tad bit salty, but overall, it was all so satisfying and deeelicious. I wish I took pictures, but we were too hungry to let the camera eat first. For interesting food at very reasonable prices, this place really is amazing. It's super casual--you order at the counter and bus your own table--so the value shows up entirely in the food. I love it. It's a medium-sized place with seating for maybe 40 people if they're packed, and you will often see it with no seats available. That's why they encourage people as much as possible to eat and run by minimizing table service. There's parking front and back, entrances on both sides, one gender-neutral washroom. There's probably a line at the counter if you arrive anywhere close to mealtime. You get several minutes to go over your menu options. The foods offered range from asian to latin and out into other areas, all presented with good flavorful seasonings but minimal spicy heat. You can probably ask them at the counter to bump up the heat level and next time I think I will try that. We ordered the spicy pork noodles--nice dish with chewy noodles, a few nuggets of fried pork, plenty of fresh herbs, toasted peanuts, and a few vegetables. You add a tangy sour sauce at the table, along with squeezes of lime. Easy to finish every last bite. This was the only dish named "spicy" and had just a hint of heat in a few bites. The chilaquiles were more like a chilaquile salad, with lots of sour cream and green stuff over the top of the meat and chips and such. Great flavor, no real heat. The Burmese cheese curds didn't remind of Wisconsin cheese curds at all, they were much closer to a fried cheese appetizer with really nice spice notes in the coating and sauce. The fried cauliflower had lots of nice toasty spice notes on the outside but was just a bit soggy in spots. The double vodka was strong but served in a smallish glass; good value for the price but needed lots of added water to keep lightening it up. A taller glass with more water would be a cool different way to serve this. The grapefruit agua fresca was pretty damn amazing. Tons of flavor and very refreshing. All told, 5 plates of food (2 of us each had the noodles), a cocktail and another drink were around $60. That's great value for as much as we had on the table. We'll definitely be back. read more

Everything we ordered was outstanding! If I could eat the delicate squash special every day of my life I would love it every time. Husband loved the DanDan noodles and my fried chicken was glazed superbly. Don't be turned off by the mile-long line. In the post covid world, Spork has dropped their service standards and raised their prices. There are a couple great staff members who keep the place rocking hard on a busy night. We had a few lovely Bend housewives at a cozy table next to us which negatively affected my experience, but the wait staff was super accommodating of us moving tables. Spork was so tasty! I love a good Asian fusion restaurant. We just happened on it at the right time, there was absolutely no line. The rest of the time we were in the restaurant there seemed to be more people in line than actually sitting at the tables eating, a good 45 minute wait. You order at the front then sit down, this probably accounts for the wait. The food is also reasonably priced. We had some yucca chips that came with a tasty sauce. For dinner I had a pork bowl that had warm rice noodles in it. The pork cooked in the bowl came two ways, my favorite being the "meatball" form, so good! It was a very filling meal and wasn't too heavy. I also sampled the peanut curry, such good flavors! Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal, it was a very good stop. read more

For us, Spork was a miss. Of coarse waiting in a line for dinner for almost an hour tends to put a person in a certain frame of mind. As the Yelper in the family, I felt iffy recommending this spot once we saw the line, but given the great reviews, I was willing to roll the dice. I came here with a kid and an elderly grandpa who really needed to sit down, yet we stood in line for almost an hour because all the empty tables have signs requesting that patrons not sit until they have ordered, and on the night we were there, it would be almost an hour before we were able to do so. The Asian fusion fare was a-okay, but disappointingly not remarkable. My chicken dish, which was noted as their "most popular and delicious" was far more salty than savory and mushy, rather than crisp. What was remarkable was pricing, as entrees were fairly affordable ($12) to the size of the portion. They used lots of fresh vegetables, which was nice to see, but some of the sauces surrounded and overwhelmed rather than enhanced the freshness of those flavors. I'm normally a fan of SE Asian flavors, but excess salt and spice in their savory dishes caused them to fall short. What could be a mostly a-okay solid experience unravels with those lines (!) and the approach that customers must not sit until they order. With that requirement in mind, they probably want to consider the needs of patrons with the very young or very old, who simply can't patiently wait in a line for thirty minutes plus without taking a seat. They need to evaluate too, how they are managing these lines, because regardless of it being a very busy night, waiting almost an hour standing just to order your food and take a seat is not okay. read more

Two words: fusion confusion. We decided to come visit Spork for it's interesting fusion of Asian and Mexican cuisine. Not gonna lie, after reading all of the reviews on yelp and perusing through the menu, our mouths were watering and tummies rumbling. I am a sucker when it comes to Asian and Mexican foods so we decided to give this place a try when we were visiting Bend, Oregon. Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed really hipster looking decorations and furniture. Seating is abundant and available inside and out. The menu seems like it would change from time to time. has a variety of beer and non-alcoholic drinks including tea (fusion themed of course). You bus your own table and order at the front. We ordered: 1. Bacon and potato taco - was very sad to find that there was only 1 taco, even though it was advertised as tacos*. I could not find much of a fusion for this one other than taco being Mexican and cilantro and radish. but there's also cilantro in most Mexican dishes. Hence felt like this dish was sort of imbalanced in terms of fusion, it's just an American taco to me. Very basic in terms of quality. 2. Chilaquiles - quantity was more than the taco, although the majority of it was mainly tortilla chips and the cabbage/greens on top. Taste was A-OK, not mind blowing, sort of a less savory salad if you will. I did not like this at all. 3. Lomo Saltado? - not quite sure what the last dish was, but think it was the lomo saltado. My boyfriend wanted this one. I just remember it had steak, potatoes and an egg. This dish was decent, but I still could not make out the Asian and Mexican in this. Was purely a mixture of every cuisine. You know how when you cook at home and only have a couple of ingredients left, but you are too lazy to run to the store and make the actual dish, so you end up putting everything together. The meat was pretty well seasoned but a bit dry. Overall, not much quality and not much quantity. Expensive for what you get. read more

We met up with family members at Spork where we had read reviews that it was a great place to eat. Spicy chicken and the tomato curry was great. The pork noodle dish was nice except for the pork! The pork was weird and dry. The mint lemonade was good. The sound system was terrible and we felt like we were in loud bar. The base was obnoxious. We tolerated a thumping disco beat for the rest of the meal. We asked our waitress to turn down the music or adjust the base. She said she could not do that. She was super nice about it but it was out of her hands. She later asked us after sitting for our meal for an hour to move along. We felt rushed, even though she was polite and attentive. Bottom line, get your food to go if you want to have a conversation with dining buddies and not be hurried. We actually won't be back. So many great places to eat in Bend. Sorry, I don't get it, or maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I admit, I'm not from the area either. The shakshuka was soupy, it was like tomato broth when I'm used to the sauce being thick and chunky. It was $10 + $4 for lamb sausage. If didn't get sausage, the portion would have been half a meal for me. It also came with a French bread roll, so overall, the filled me up but it was not worth $14 at all. My sister got tacos. At $3 each were smaller than usual taco truck size. They used the "street size" tortillas, which was probably around 4 inch diameter making it tiny when folded. They tasted fine but I've had much better, in fact, the taco stand at Crux was infinitely better. The meat here wasn't very seasoned or saucy. Chicken was shredded white meat without sauce and it depended on garnishes for seasoning. At $3 each, it not worth it. She was still hungry afterwards. I'm opening to returning and trying some of their other dishes but as of right now, I'm not sure why they are so popular. read more

I'm not going to lie, one of the main reasons we chose this restaurant for dinner was the sheer number of reviews it has in comparison to other restaurants in Bend. My stars are coming primarily from the carnitas sandwich. The bread was super crunchy and buttery, the flavors meld really well together, carnitas was cooked beautifully. 10/10 would order again. Posole was tasty, a bit spicy/peppery but appropriately so. It was good not great. Nothing really to write home about. It comes with a side of tortilla chips and sliced radishes. The carrot cake left a lot to be desired. It looked like it came out of a Bundt. The frosting was awful, so bad that we didn't eat any of it. And ultimately left about half of the slice on the table as it wasn't worth the calories. It should be noted that you were expected to bus your own table. It got really busy by the time we left.
