    Fish tacos

I wanted so badly to like this but the fish tacos were disappointing. Looked beautiful- but a lot of breading that wasn't piping hot, either. Rolled tacos were decent. Service was great- super kind and we were able to self serve salsas and chips.

Came here with two buddies and two other guys. We talked business and shop. No bull$@€*. We are men. Do not mess with us. Don't mess with these tacos either because they go CRAZY. Chips and salsa = chaching

I'm in Bend, traveling for work. I feel like Mexican can be dicey. But I had a craving and took the gamble. For the price, DoorDash-able and portion it's a solid 4 stars. 5th star goes to giving me EXACTLY what I asked in the DoorDash note. All beans, no rice and bought extra salsas. Thank you for a great Mex take out that's not nasty Tex Mex chipotle by default. Lol. Everything tasted fresh. I would go for it again. Would recommend. And thanks for including utensils!

Senior Don Gambino shares a small unassuming building with a tired looking bar on the east side of 3rd St. The small storefront windows are plastered with awards for their food!...from 2021! Is that a good thing? It's 2025. Anyway, I walked into a crowded approx. 20x40 space, with half dozen small tables plus a patio with another dozen tables. I walked up to the counter and quickly studied the internally lit menu board overhead. So far it felt like a Mexican version McDonalds. It was cinco de mayo, so I felt obligated to have Mexican food and a Corona to celebrate with our southern brothers. Enchilada and chili relleno, ordered, but no Corona! No beer at all (just like McDonalds.) I sat at a still sticky table with hard metal chairs. I visited the small salsa bar and sampled the "diablo" red sauce and the milder green sauce. Both were good and tasty on my free chips . My platter was delivered to my table in good time. First thing I noticed was that I couldn't see the enchilada or the chili relleno. I like a little shredded lettuce on top, but this was a huge mound that covered nearly the whole platter!. I shoved the nonsense mound to one end of the platter under which I found my order. It was tasty, as were the beans and rice, but I think I see why, for the past 4 years, no awards had been put on the windows. The salsa bar saved the day. The food lacked much flavor, leaving that task up to the salsa bar. This no-frills trip to the NW Mexican outpost was over. Sorry, non-plused on my first, and probably last visit. Adios mi amigos!

I was in town for 4 days and ate there 3 times, breakfast, lunch and dinner!! It's a must period. One thing that was very inconvenient. You have to order at the counter and there's only one person. For breakfast the line was out the door with a 45 min wait just to order, and most of all the tables were empty. In other words, it makes no sense to have one register with all the tables they have. People are obviously eating fast then ordering your food. It's like have 1 waitress to take orders. They must either have waitresses or multiple registers to order. One order at a time and mist of them are large groups which makes it even harder to order. Everyone is adding food to there orders at the counter because that's when you see all the amazing backed goods, but it is way to time consuming. They can triple their sales easily!! That must change!!

tl;dr great food, tell them about all your allergies so they can modify, get gluten free pastries!…read more A tasty option for brunch or dinner with several clearly marked gluten free items. You can also customize your meal as needed. To order, you stand in line like at a food court counter, but in a fancy way. While we were there, the line stretched to the door most of the time but it moves fast. This is the time you use to choose your bottle of wine, pick food, and browse the pastries on display. There were several places to sit indoors and out after placing the order. The kids hade the garlic bites (fried balls of bread with garlic and cheese...looked like doughnut holes!) and a pizza. They can add pepperoni to a cheese pizza for the particular children in your life. My husband and I shared a Cobb salad, no croutons to make it gf (the lemon dill dressing was AMAZING! Actually, this whole salad was very good). We also intended to share the NY strip with chimichurri. However, we didn't read that it comes with bread and a side salad (great!) and roasted vegetables in romesco sauce (also great!). My husband is allergic to nuts and so he couldn't eat any. That is not a complaint...all on us! The menu is clearly marked. But be aware if you have a nut allergy to specify that you can't have the romesco sauce. Or let the order taker know, as they are informed on modifications and whatnot. So he ate the salad and done pizza. I ate most of the steak and veggies. Everything tasted really good. The steak was a bit gristly. But the chimichurri was great. My absolute favorite thing was the elote cake with tajin buttercream. It was not a sweet cake. But it was heavenly. I should have grabbed another piece before we left. It was creative and salty and delicious and I still want it two days later. Service was great. Food is brought out as it's ready, not all at once. And the side salad and bread is brought before the main dish. The people were friendly and helpful. This was a great place and I would definitely go back.

The Peach Pit. I knew my wife and friends were going out to dinner in a few days . I made sure we were going to eat at the WIch Doctor. My wife and friend Cheri are both vegetarian. They both tried the TLC. Farm tomatoes and mixed greens, house mayo, smoked crunchy salt, tillamook smoked cheddar crusted sparrow bakery sliced sourdough. My wife and friend Cheri are vegetarian. They both could not believe that the sandwich tasted like a BLT. Brenda ( co-owner) said the combination of the smokey salt and smokey cheese make a bacon flavor. They both loved their sandwiches. MY friend Dave had the Peach Pit. He had the same feeling as when I had that sandwich the other day. OUTSTANDING. I wanted to try Cedar Street . Roasted tri-tip, irish cheddar, obsidian stout worcestershire shallot jam, house mayo, arugula, toasted one loaf bend bakery sourdough ciabatta. This upscale Cheesestake sandwich was terrific. The best tri- tip I've ever eaten. After eating I had to tell "Chef" Cody ( co-owner) he was batting 2 for 2 on my visits to " Wich Doctor". Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

Service was lovely - warm, friendly and attentive. Shout out to Logan for being great with my daughter as well. I ordered the lunch combo special and highly recommend - you can 2 items off a list of 5-6 for $18. I had the tempura battered fish tacos (2) and a cup of seafood chowder. Tacos were well portioned but still handheld and well seasoned. Chowder was delicious and the croutons were perfectly crunchy and buttery. My daughter had the kids fish and chips and the portion was excellent - fish to batter ratio was great and she loved the fries. The restaurant is clean, airy and well decorated. My daughter loved the cow print wallpaper in the restroom too. Highly recommend if you are in town, lovely meal.
