While we stayed at the Moana we had a ribbon making class here our last day before our flight. It was a little hectic getting lunch and over here for the class so my husband ran to grab us lunch while my kiddo and I made the ribbons. He brought back sandwiches from another place (NOT the bar) and after our class we asked the kind bigger guy if we could eat our lunch there. The tables did say no outside food at the tables which I understand so we thought we'd ask as we didn't really have anywhere else to eat as we were checked out. He was so friendly and said no problem at all. He even went and told the bar to give them a heads up. We said we are more then willing to buy a drink but he insisted. We were staying at the Sheraton Princess Waikiki and did not want to go far to eat so we checked out the Splash Bar next to the pool. There is live music Friday and Saturday and we liked the music so we decided to give this place a try. There is a one drink minimum, so be warned. My fiancé is gluten and dairy free and there were several menu items that supported her need. She got the beef lettuce wrap unmodified and I got the turkey sandwich. For drinks I got the mai tai and she got the passion lime margarita. The drinks were very very good and the food was decent. The ambiance is what really sold us on the venue. The main con of this place is the service. It is a little slow and it could take a minute for a table to be cleared and clean for a new party to sit down. Our server also took a while to get our check and sometimes forgot to check up on us. Our drinks were complimentary due to us telling the hotel we just got engaged and the total food bill was only about $25 a person. With drinks that would be about $40-45 a person. But if you are looking for a close, easy place to eat with good music then this is the place for you. One of the better hotel restaurants for the price. read more

This is another typical tourist bar BUT prices are AWESOME all day long. Seriously, the most bang for your buck in Waikiki. It doesn't have a pretty view or anything special (located next to a hotel pool), but if you're trying to get lit, this is your place. Ask if the daily drink is blended or not, because we were highly disappointed with the chi chi, but there's a little secret on the menu - there's a mai tai special, it's a "taster" of 3 different kinds of mai tais (all delicious), all full size, and only $21 (i.e. $7 each which is a great price in the area). Heavy pours too. The service is quick and helpful, AND they serve popcorn to you all nice (which was actually quite delicious). If you're looking for a good bar to relax for a few hours, this is definitely your spot. read more

My go to Mai Tai is Monkey Pod. Followed by Duke's and Hula Grill. My friends all love the mahi sandwich. I followed their lead and ordered that. They said it's huge, and that they always take 1/2 back to their rooms for the next day. I felt it was a tiny piece of fish. I did like the salad with the papaya dressing. Overall, I do not expect to eat here again. I may join friends for a drink/ but I would stick to a glass of wine. Not something mixed at the bar. My friends did say this was a server they had not had before- and that it was the slowest service they had ever had. We had to remind her about our drink orders after they had sat at the bar awhile. The Splash Bar is located on the premises of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel aka PK Hotel. There are a bunch of four seater tables in front of the bar as well as on the side of the bar. There are about four bar stools located at the bar area. The Splash Bar is pretty much out in the open with the exception of the bar itself. Big umbrellas are used as cover for the tables. Every day between 11am and 6pm is Happy Hour at the Splash Bar. There's even a different cocktail drink for every day of the week. The cocktail drink cost $8.00. Live music performance starting at 6pm to 8pm at the main stage for the dinner crowd. At 9pm to 11pm there's another set of live music somewhere near the lobby area. Different entertainers every night. I showed up at The Splash Bar on a Tuesday night and caught the tail end of the DeLima Ohana performance. Kelly Boy DeLima and his daughter, Lilo, performed during the dinner hours. I sat down at one of the many available tables and was greeted by one of the waitresses. I was handed a drink menu and a food menu. I wanted to order the Passion Cooler but the waitress suggested I get the Mango Spritz for $8.00 instead of paying for the expensive drink. I also ordered a teriyaki burger with bacon and a side salad to eat. After a few minutes my drink arrived. The Mango Spritz was delicious. It had Ocean Vodka, mango puree, pineapple juice and a splash of soda. A slice of pineapple and cherry as garnishes for the drink. My burger arrived a few minutes after my drink. The burger also had lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, cheese and a slice of pineapple. The teriyaki sauce was placed in a small bowl. I had cut my burger in half and the burger tasted a bit dry. I had to drench the burger with the teriyaki sauce in order for the burger to be edible. I should have used ketchup with my burger. Overall The Splash Bar is a nice casual relaxing environment. Staff members are awesome, drinks are delicious, and I love the live music. The teriyaki burger to me needed some improvement. Someday I will try other menu items that the Splash Bar has to offer. Who knows maybe I'll even spend the night at PK Hotel as well. read more

I was going to order food but the servers kept walking past me. I saw 1 man and 2 ladies who were the servers. The man walked by me twice, looked at me, and gave me a head nod once He then continued to go around and clean tables off. None of the females even acknowledged that I was sitting there. The food and alcohol are both WAY over priced, but what do you expect for a bar that's located in a nice hotel in the middle of Waikiki? The ambiance is amazing and the live music is good. I feel like if you are willing to spend two, to three times the money, you should be at least recognized when you enter an establishment. I wish I would have taken a picture of our dish, we were kind of in a rush. We got the sampler pupu platter. Had pretty tasty Chicken wings, Kalua Pig Nachos which were also pretty good. We were told by the Waitress, Catherine, that the Chicharrones were no longer gluten-free. Since it's not a big deal for us, we said no worries. When the Trio came it was nicely presented. I took one Chicharrones and dipped it in the sauce. It was so salty, had no idea that they had salted the Chicharrones. it was supposed to be vinegar salt Chicharrones. When we took a closer look a the actual pork rinds, it was covered in SALT. Like they dumped the whole salt container on it. If I had a heart condition, I think I would have had a heart attack right then and there. There was so much salt on the pieces that it left a salt trail on my plate as I transferred it from the platter to the plate. I told the waitress "This is awful, you should try this and give it to your boss to taste. The manager later came over, and even she wouldn't try it. I told them your chefs should taste their food before they send it out the door. I mean my lips were puckered from the sheer amount of salt there was on each piece. They didn't give us a discount on our meal, they apologized, but nothing else. If I had time, I would have made the chef come out and try a piece of it in front of me. They wouldn't. When your appetizers are shitty, people most likely be back for dinner. What i totally didn't understand was, the gluten free thing with pork rinds, like what is it they put on the pork rinds that makes it no longer gluten free? The musicians, the entertainment, and the setting were wonderful. We used to come to the nice restaurant and have dinner from time to time, so sad that SPLASH is there instead. Super disappointed in the food and customer service of this place. We probably won't be returning here anytime soon. So sad because I was turning my GF on to this place. read more
