I would never recommend eating here, but if you have dining credits at this hotel, there aren't many options to use it. They have a $30 breakfast buffet and there are a lot of options, but I often just use it for a $18 omelet. You cannot take out, which I find super annoying. Service can be great and friendly or otherwise terrible (your server wil be with you in a minute; same person comes back and does the bare minimum). read more

I am staying at the Doubletree, therefore the restaurant it is an easy place to grab a meal. First of all, the prices are very high for the amount and quality of food. I have provided updated menus. I had breakfast and ordered the avocado toast. It was good, but not amazing. The service that morning was outstanding and the hostess gave me some suggestions of nice beaches to visit. I ate in the dining room and the restaurant was pleasant and easy going in the morning. Last night I had dinner. I ordered the fish sandwich to go. I took a first bite and it tasted off. I took another bite which confirmed that it was really bad. I am unsure if the fish had spoiled or what had happened, but it was not a matter of just being dry or cooked incorrectly, the fish was just poor quality or spoiled. I ate a few of the fries. The fries were good, but I felt so sick from tasting the bad fish I lost my appetite. I went back to the restaurant and told the hostess who was apologetic, but she told me that I would need to come back later to talk to her manager if I wanted a credit for the bad food. I used my hotel food credit, so it wasn't a huge loss, but it was disappointing that hostess/waitstaff don't have the authority to correct for and compensate for unacceptable food. Its a holiday weekend and they bring in a brand new bartender who doesn't know what she's doing. Food comes out before drinks and they forget orders. Service sucks they doent even know how to accommodate customers. Then half the food came out but in a to go box. We were eating in and they forgot my food. We complained to Def ears and left. Would not recommend. I've never had worse service in my life. I've never complained and thus time I did even thought I know nothing will be done about it. Just had to vent. read more

A cute little place nestled in a front corner of the DoubleTree Hotel overlooking Ala Moana Blvd. They have a bar with two TVs but you don't have to participate in sports to enjoy their food. The Fish and Chips are crispy and delicious. The shoestring fries are golden brown and crispy outside. Two wedges of fresh lemon add a finishing touch to the fish. Perfect after a long, hot day at the beach. Our server was fantastic! Energetic, attentive, and easy to talk to. read more

First ones here. One person gets a beer immediately. I'm told they don't open for 20 minutes. The person who got the beer is my best friend and we drove together. It's now been 20 minutes and everyone else in the bar, who came after us, has been waited on. Horrendous service. I literally had to get out of my chair and say, we'd like to order! I'm not a tourist either, I'm a regular for trivia on Sunday. To be treated so poorly is unacceptable. It's not like the food is good or a good deal. I've never even really spoken to Gina, the bartender, either. She checked the five tables to the left us, and turned immediately. No idea why we got treated so terrible. read more

Hotel restaurant has hotel quality food. Got breakfast here ( there is an AYCE for $25 pp, or if you want to just have an omelet, which I did, it was $12. There was also a coupon at check in for 15% off so it was decent enough, and not too overpriced. TIP: Hotel offers coffee at reception, so help yourself there. The lure to this restaurant is mainly the convenience for guests staying at the hotel wanting to get a quick meal or have a cold beer and watch a sports game. If that's what you're looking for, this fits the bill. The place is clean and is usually staffed by 2-3 servers/bartenders. Small bar with about 15 seats and a few other tables in the restaurant. There are few beers and local beers on draft, cocktails and a few wine selections. I ordered a Mai Tai, I would not recommend it, I don't think they got the drink portions correct on the one I had. Food: Poke 16$ although generous portion size it wasn't seasoned very much and was bland. Chopped steak/mushrooms 17$ was actually pretty good! The steak was good and it was tasty with sautéed mushroom and onions in the top. Buffalo wings were just okay probably wouldn't order again. Convenient to have this place in the hotel for guests to grab a quick meal. This restaurant also provides the room service meals for hotel guests. read more

This is a little gem in the beginning of Waikiki, on Ala Moana Blvd. right off of Kalakaua Ave. Valet Parking. Second floor (Lobby) area. Not very big in size, but the night I went it was BIG. We were fortunate enough to see an up and coming local Hawaiian artist performing (guitar and ukulele) and this guy could SING!!!! He played several different genres including but not limited to: Reggae, Hawaiian, contemporary Hawaiian, R&B, Country, etc... This guy was AMAZING! I found out his name is Rickey Kamai @rickeykamaimusic is his IG. IF you haven't heard him, you need to check him out. I have lived here my whole life and grew up listening to many, many local artists and Rickey is hands down one of the rare talents in the islands. I also want to give kudos to the staff at the Trees Restaurant. They were amazing. Service was great. Food!!! Everything we tried was awesome. We had the Fryers Basket, BBQ Chicken Artisan Pizza, Kalua Pig Nachos, Steak, Garlic Shrimp, Chicken Tenders.... ALL no complaints!!! Wanted to try the Poke, but saving it for the next visit! Generally have low expectations for hotel bars, but this managed to underwhelm me. During my last night in Honolulu, decided to grab dinner here after a long week exploring and doing things around town. At the bartenders suggestions, I ordered the fish tacos, nothing in it was fresh. The chips and salsa were obviously Tostitos. The gauc wasn't fresh. And fish tasted as if it was previously frozen. BLUF: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, CALORIES (for the "cheat days"). I am starting this review as it's been 45 mins since we ordered during "happy hour" and as I sit here waiting I'm not happy. We ordered fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, fried gyoza. I didn't think it would be this long of a wait. When the food finally arrived it was pretty disappointing. The calamari was overcooked and had too much breading. Everything was hot as it was made to order but goodness it was just a bad experience. The cheese sticks barely had cheese and one had no cheese. I broke it open because of the light feeling and yup, no cheese!The fried gyoza was alright...Not good, not bad. I didnt eat the calamari so it was removed from my check. The drink (dark and stormy)- heck no!! Do not go to this bar expecting much. It is nasty. The best part about this place is the live music. Ricky is the ONLY good thing this place has to offer. I'm still hungry. It took less than 10 mins to eat what was edible and another 15 minutes to pay at the bar because no one came to check on us. If you stay at this hotel then I highly recommend you do not eat here! I'm still sitting here and the original waitress just came to check on our table while my husband was at the bar trying to check out. read more

If you decide to try The Trees Restaurant, don't arrive expecting much and definitely don't have high expectations for the food or atmosphere. This is a hotel bar and restaurant with a local flair. The bartender is a pleasant man that often comes from behind the bar and sits and chats with the guests. There is a young man and young lady who are on staff and are just as nice. This is a VERY laid back place and the food is just as casual. Not sure where the kitchen is but the food is brought in from an area outside of the restaurant dining room; when delivered it is luke warm at best. With that said, if you want to watch a sports event and chit chat with the locals this is your spot to do so and have a beer, glass of wine, or a mai tai. Although the food is tasty, I'm giving the restaurant two starts for food temperature. read more

The food is also unreal. I had the calamari and the chicken fingers that were to die for, we all shared some garlic rib eye with onions and mushroom that was also top of the line. Am I being punk'd?! I'm not sure if this place is an experiment or if they opened in spite of being completed. From the entrance with the "please wait to be seated" sign only to have the hostess turn, wave her arm in the general direction of the seating area while mumbling "sit anywhere". The food... The reason they don't have butter must be because it wouldn't melt on the ice cold pancakes. And the maple syrup from the sam's club jug certainly didn't help. The fatty, cold bacon leaves that greasy film-feeling on your teeth - a great way to start any day. But the fruit was fine - and cold too. The real laugh isn't about the food though. The tables are certainly fashionable to look at but are so wobbly, you had better not have a cup of coffee or juice on the table or you will be mopping it up or wearing it. The chairs were designed by an out of work artist who apparently never sits down - plastic, uncomfortable but yet awkwardly heavy to slide or move. And, other than the "sit anywhere" mumble, no one said one thing to me - even the guy who took my plate just walked up, took my plate and walked away without a single word. The seating area has plenty of tables but they are all very close to each other - making a business conversation or personal discussion hardly private. read more

This was some of the worst food we had while here. The pizza was black & burnt on the bottom, my garlic shrimp was very bland and the pulled pork nachos had old dried "kalua" pork on them. It was more like pork jerky. We pointed out the dried up old meat to the staff and their response was oh. We ate there once and decided to avoid going forward although we stayed at the Doubletree. The service is subpar and they were frequently out if needed items. I would not recommend spending money at this place. read more

I can only write a review for the breakfast here. I opted for the full breakfast and I need to get my Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice fix when I'm on-island. Not bad and they have fruit juices and cereals, breads, and an omelet station. A little overpriced for breakfast (like $20 or so) but oh well, it's a hotel in a tourist area. If I had a choice of course I would probably go to another diner for Portuguese sausage eggs and rice but for the sake of convenience, this place did the trick. read more

Good apps for happy hour; entertainer manages to make ambiance out of the more picnic-like hotel bar. Guac for the tacos doesn't hit SoCal standards (but what does outside of Mexico?). Otherwise pizza was fantastic and other portions are generous. Bartender is great. Good stop during your Waikiki stay. read more

The food however was just okay. They have a small menu and they were out of the first item I selected. I ended up getting the fish and chips. They were nice and flaky, however there wasn't much flavor to them. I'd probably only go back for the drinks and friendly staff conversation. read more

If you love a good Mai Tai, you should check this place out. Great $5 Mai Tais during their Happy Hour. They also serve local beers. I love the fact that they support local brewers. Very friendly bartender (Earl) and servers and a good selection appetizers. My friends and I stopped by the bar after we attended a seminar at the hotel. Mostly hotel guests in the restaurants but the staff is warm and know how to make locals feel welcome and comfortable too. Looks like you need to be dressy but you don't Need to. Other people walked in with shorts. Their Burger and chicken sandwiches were really good! We also had their thick fries and onion rings? They were yummy! Also had Wi-Fi available for us to use. Food less than average at best, it is clearly geared toward tourists and tries to do a variety, but none of it well. Only two servers for the entire place so they don't expect much business. It's like they know that they won't see most people again and are lucky to get a meal out of you if you are staying there. You could throw a rock out your window and hit a better place to eat. That being said the staff was friendly and trying very hard to deliver great service, but it's too little if management doesn't start to care about food quality. read more
