Spice village is a hidden gem. I walked in not know what to expect. The waiter greeted us so nicely and allowed to pick a set. Then said when you are ready to order just ring the bell (see the pic). No nagging waiters which gave us time to look the multiple pages in the menu (and want to order half of the menu). Let me just say I was able to sample the fried chicken, ordered a smash burger and had some of the grilled lamb chops. Everything was absolutely pleasing to the pallets. This food hall is a must try. I would not advise coming especially if you have been a long time customer. I dont know for sure but heard they had a change of ownership in the last few months. They used to have a decent beef burger and chicken burger. Now, the burger is so bad I wouldnt take it even if offered for free. The meat they use for the burgers as well as the buns, have significantly changed. Meat tastes really bad, and the bun they are using is literally like a sweet tasting roll of some sort instead of a proper burger bun like brioche, potato, or even a regular sesame seed bun. It appears they have significantly downgraded the quality of both their beef and buns used for burgers. The service was average, and very long wait times for everything. read more

Okay, Dec 26, 2025 - bottom line up front - great food! Truly very pleasantly surprised!! Read all the negative, older reviews and had low expectations to be honest. But we were blown away by how good it really was! We did takeout and had the Shinwari goat karhai and chicken malai kabob and let me tell you both were excellent. We know a good karhai when we taste it, and this Shinwari goat karhai (not ordinary goat karhai which is also on the menu but seek out the Shinwari karhai on their menu) was surprisingly tender - breaks apart on your fingers tender, and the masala of the Shinwari karhai was on point! Best karhai we've had in a long time (and we've tried a lot from so many Pakistani restaurants in the Northern VA area)! The chicken malai kabob was also tender and juicy - not quite as creamy soft as I hoped but still pretty good and worth the price ($18). The side of chickpeas for the kabob was very good! The naan was not as good as many other restaurants in the area (no sesame seeds on it unfortunately) but acceptable for the karhai! Really, as a family, we were blown away to find this good quality Pakistani food in our area! We will be back to try other things. Don't let those older bad reviews keep you from trying at least the Shinwari dishes on the menu here! read more

I have eaten at the spice village before and remember the ambiance to be good, and was definitely a popular place to go to on Saturday. So do reserve table upfront. The service and the steak we ordered was not that good, so this time wanted to try the Paki food. Ordered chicken biryani from Khyber shinwari. Had it delivered by Uber Eats. The biryani was spiced medium but for western tastebuds, you may call it hot. So bear that in mind when ordering. The delivery was faster than initially forecasted, so kudos to Uber eats! As far goes the biryani, apart from being too hot to handle, it had a good aroma and the taste was good. Liked the red onion and the green garnish of cilantro and the lemon boat. Added and heightened the taste. Unfortunately the chicken must have broken out of the pot. There were some leg bone left overs with no meat. Don't know if it was a late order and I may have received the leftovers perhaps. This place isnt a "food hall", its a sitdown restaurant with 4 half baked menus because the owners dont know what they want to serve. The vibe of the place is like some weird in between of "we want to look fancy but also casual because its a food hall", except the seating and style doesnt make sense for a casual place. Theyve got cheap vinyl everywhere, the water tastes funky, and you cant even see the individual restaurants that supposedly make up this food hall. I hope a better restaurant comes into the neighborhood and takes their spot. read more

Took 2 others to a business lunch. Menu had a great variety and the waiter was kind. However the quality of the food was less than 1 star. Flavor was there but way overpriced for what you received. Had to ask to have ordered drinks brought to the table, had to find someone for napkins (we were the only people there) had to hunt someone down for the bill. The plating of the food was beautiful and creative. I really love the decor here as well. What to know: There's 4 restaurants in one spot. This means the menu prices vary from everyday affordable fare options ($) to special occasion high quality steaks ($$). The restaurant does not offer alcoholic beverages, but the drinks are amazing!!! They make a variety of mock-tails. If you have cake you can bring it in and they will store it for you until the group is ready to eat it. Overall, they do a great job of social distancing. Spice Village is a food hall which has four restaurants and their takes on halal. The restaurants are Peri peri Orignal, Mandarin Halal Cuisine, Kallisto Steakhouse and Khyber Shinwari. Apps: We got coconut shrimp and spicy rice for our table. The coconut shrimp was definitely my favorite appetizer. Food: I decided to order from the Kallisto Steakhouse restaurant. I ordered the grilled lamb chops platter which was well seasoned, and one choice of side. For the side, I god the potato wedges which was really delicious. There's also an option for signature sauces. I chose the signature house sauce and white mushroom sauce, very tasty. Drinks: I ordered the mango smoothie and was wowed. It was so good, I actually wanted to order another one. Overall, My family and I had a good experience here. The service was amazing. We had different servers come up to us to make sure we're doing good. I took away a star because our food got cold quickly. The cast iron pan for the meat did not help at all. I tried really hard to like this place - I truly love the concept of having multiple Halal restaurants under one roof and I appreicate ordering is one all at once so it allows your group of people to try multiple dishes. However, the actual dishes lacked quality and flavor. We ordered mainly from the steakhouse. We ordered a steak + chicken platter and wings. The steak was poorly cooked and even though we asked for medium it taste well done and I couldn't really eat it. The chicken was also tough and the veggies were soggy. The wings were ok - but it didn't taste fresh. Service was friendly and I am hopeful the other places were better however I am not a fan of the steakhouse. read more

We recently visited here to try some halal chicken Peri peri and other asian dishes and we were very satisfied with all the options. The meals were all delicious and delivered quickly. The place is very clean and the decor is also romantic and nice. It would be great to one day see this place without Covid restrictions and fully booked. The menu has many different options and I can almost guarantee everyone will find something here. I am looking forward to the fourth concept kitchen open soon. this is sad bc i loved their chicken sandwiches and was a frequent customer who recommend this place to so many people, but no longer. place an order today at 8:20 for a 8:40 pickup and they close at 10. the charge was on my bank statement and i received a confirmation email after ordering directly from their site for the correct location. they tell me their system didn't create a ticket for my order, therefore they could not make it. after back and forth with 2 employees showing them the order and charge, they still wouldn't make the order and then said once again they couldn't refund me because there was no ticket. make it make sense! this went on for 20 minutes before i walked out, just to have an employee follow me out and say they could now make it for me. needless to say i didn't wait and will now have to call my bank to be reimbursed. these employees need to learn how to be solutions oriented and actually provide basic customer service. also the whole restaurant was smoked out, not sure what that was about but had to note the poor ambiance to fully complete this review! read more

This is the fourth time we are dining here. We came all the way from Pennsylvania and its a good 2 hour drive. The food here is just awsome. We ordered ribeye steak, newyork strip steak, juicy rick star burger, sesame chicken, hakka crunchy chicken, half per peri chicken, chicken wings, mutton biryani, shinwari chicken karahi and nans. With the excitement of food halls popping up everywhere, we decided to check out Spice Village. We were a bit confused at first but it felt more like an actual sit-down restaurant with four vendors that seemed to utilize the same kitchen. You can either order food at the cash register when you enter, call in your order, or order online. Ordering online seemed a little confusing because all of the menus were essentially combined into one long running list, with a lot of details excluded. But maybe it was just me? We wanted to try several dishes but unfortunately they were out of some ingredients so we ended up ordering the Peri Peri chicken tender/wing combo and some onion rings to try out instead. It might've been because we went during a busy dinner time. We ordered mild for the flavor and let me tell you, the flavor was fantastic. We are big fans of a peri peri chicken franchise that shall not be named, so it was great to see that this place can rival the huge chains. Onion rings were solid, crispy, and fresh. Celebrations are always special when it comes to birthdays or anniversaries. We are celebrating one such occasion today and chose to visit Spice Village in Herndon, Va. It will be criminal of me if I don't write an elaborated experience. (For folks who doesn't like long reviews please skip to last paragraph). I once wrote, I put restaurants in two categories, one which takes you back to flavors that you've craved for years and the others who create their own unique flavors for you to visit them again. Spice Village is the one where you will visit them again and again for their unique flavor. We called ahead for reservation and requested and we're assured a spot far from everyone to avoid crowd near us due to pandemic. The entrance has two signature piece of art, a small fountain and a frame where a man is capturing a black leopard, which gave me nice feel, like today I will conquer my food. As we walked inside the restaurant, we got this open and aesthetic feel of modern mixed with contemporary. A statue of horse on its two hind legs on the right and a beautiful mirror on the left along the glass wall. It definitely got me in the celebratory mood once again. We were greeted and walk past the lush looking seating arrangements at one of the corners. The sitting booth didn't have regular chairs but luxurious arrangement like how you would find in a lounge and every table had sanitizers. The wait staff handed us beautifully designed menu, whose cover page was made out of wood like material. The owner stopped by at our table and explain us that they currently opened two out of four concept menus. We could order anything from Peri Peri and steak sections, while Shinwari and Chinese menu will be available in a few weeks. We ordered ourselves some drinks, which included Pina Colada, Oreos Milkshake, Mango Lassi and sweet Lassi, while we continued to explore the menu. The wait staff got our drinks along with complimentary chicken corn soup to our table. In the mean time we decided on what we would get and ordered Fillet Mignon, New York Strip, Ribeye Steak (we like our steaks Medium Well), Mushroom Chicken, Peri Peri Chicken, fried chicken wings, along with sides of Mash-potatoes, Asparagus, French fries, garlic Bread and onion rings. I added spicy red sauce and vinegar with green pepper in my chicken corn soup, and had a sip and loved it at first slurp. The first sip of Pina Colada was perfect, juice at the end, crushed iced in the middle and whipped cream on the top, with perfect blend of coconut and pineapple. By the time we were done with our soups, steaks came out. Since BK Grill closed, we've never had steak at a place owned by Pakistanis and were curious. The steak knife cut right thru and I had that first bite. OMG. The steak was perfectly done and was seasoned to perfection and melted right in my mouth. I got their house sauce and mushroom sauce and both were delicious. Definitely the chef knew exactly what they were doing. Friend chicken wings, onion rings, and garlic bread were all flavorful as well. My dad, who is not a fan of American food, loved the mushroom chicken he got. The chicken was grilled to perfection and was moist and juicy. My wife and mom enjoyed their fillet mignon while my older son finished his ribeye in no time. Every steak was grilled to perfection. My younger son made sure he finished his mild peri peri chicken. The wait staff ensured that we were taken good care of. Once we were done with our dinner, two of the owners stopped by at table to see how our "experience" was. We had nothing but praise for the entire experience. The Spice Village is the next level restaurant. The food, the ambience and service, everything was amazing. I would definitely visit them again and soon. I can't wait for Shinwari and Mandarin to open up there. The owners know what they are serving and knows their speciality. They are not experimenting or learning on job. Spice Village will not only give good competition to Desi restaurants but most of the American restaurants. Keep it up guys. read more

I went to this place over the weekend and I'm amazed to see what a nice and friendly service was. All of the servers were very nice and attentive. Above all owners were very kind and accommodating. We had iftar buffet and there were like wide selection of food. All of the dishes were very delicious and tasty especially chaat, dahi baray, samosa, karii, goat karahi, chicken tikka, Haleem and biryani. Chinese items were okay. Love love the hot and tasty gulab jamuns. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for decent iftar buffet. read more

My first experience here was interesting. My friend and I arrived during lunch time on a Tuesday extremely excited to try out the restaurant due to the excellent (and false) advertising on social media. At the time of arrival, we were the only ones in the restaurant. The ambiance is excellent and the restaurant is very clean as well. We were excited to try out the different cuisines. As a bonus, it's halal! Our waiter was very kind in letting us know that if we were placing orders from different restaurants we might get a different wait time. That was alright with us. We wanted to experience a nice halal restaurant with different options and had time to kill. We ordered two soft drinks, a burger, rare filet mignon with a baked potato, and hot and sour soup. These orders were placed from two of their four different restaurants, (the Indian restaurant was closed that day). Upon ordering the burger, my friend was told by the server that it DIDN'T come with fries - so he ordered peri peri fries. After forty-five minutes, my friend asked me where our food was. I told him it was probably late due to my baked potato order. My friend then received his burger, which was very delicious and....came with fries. Twenty minutes later, my steak came to the table...with fries. I asked the food-runner about the baked potato, and the manager awkwardly came over and said a drive-by, "oh, we don't have any baked potatoes". That was okay. I opted for one of the options he gave me, I just wish that it was told to the staff before the order was placed so that it would save some time and headache for everyone. The final straw was when I cut into the piece of filet they brought me. Mind you, it had a fake pineapple on a cutting board and a spoon of "seasonal veggies". The steak was way over-done. I kindly asked our awesome waiter to take it off the bill as I was not going to wait another hour for a steak that possibly would be over-done. He obliged but came by later to inform me that they're firing up another steak for me. I politely told him that I did not want it, just to take it off the bill and the soup as well. It seems like the management is at fault here. There is minimal training and overall miscommunication throughout the restaurant. It's extremely unorganized. I feel bad for the employees as the manager was extremely awkward in pacing back and forth looking like he was going to strangle someone. Overall, 2/5. The only saving grace is our gracious waiter who was unfortunately dealt the task of giving us uncoordinated news. read more

I was reluctant to post a review regarding this place because when they opened I really wanted to give them encouragement due to the diversity of the halal food they had. However, each time I've been disappointed. Most recently we spent nearly $34 on 2 orders of orange chicken and crispy chicken. Upon coming home and opening the bag, it looks like they substituted sticky rice from their Chinese menu with white plain rice likely part of their Pakistani food menu. For a restaurant to offer a diverse selection but not be able to properly manage what's needed for which menu item and from which cuisine is sad. On another occasion we dined in and not only was the service slow, we ordered chai around 930 only to be told after nearly 15 mins that they were out and weren't making another batch of what we wanted. We ended up paying more for the drinks we wanted but received replacements. On top of this they are forcing to give 18% gratuity even if their service sucks which it did. read more

I have been to Spice Village numerous times and can comfortably say they have not disappointed, even once. I love the concept of having options of 4 different cuisines - Kallisto, Shinwari, Nando's and Mandarin. I have tried burgers (American and Rockstar), stakes (t-bone and filet mignon), goat karahi, couple of dishes from Mandarin but can't recall the names; but they were delicious. I noticed the spice level is a bit high for Mandarin dishes so be cautious. Since the cuisine is so diverse, food may not come all out at the same time since the cooking time varies based on the cuisine. Which could be a turn off for some families/groups. The prices range quite a bit. Many items are priced average - what you'd usually expect - but some of the menu items are on the higher end.. which could be compensated with the quantity. Example would be the karahis but it feeds 2, maybe 3 people so the cost is easily justified. The steaks can be pricey but they are steaks - of course they are expensive. I mention this but don't count it against them. I really believe the food you get is worth the cost. Overall, the service has been great. Every visit if the owner is present, they have come to check in on us to make sure everything was satisfactory. I saw the owners do the same thing at other tables. This occurred with 2 different owners. They have always inquired if something could be done to make the experience better. We did have minor issues with a server when we had to remind her a few times to get our drinks, or there were some delays on getting the refills, but nothing major. She was polite about it and maintained a positive attitude throughout the dining experience. I have brought many family members and friends and they have all loved their food and the overall experience. It's clear the team is working hard to make sure customers are satisfied and leave happy to keep coming back. I love the concept behind Spice Village, multiple menus are great however it's always a hit or miss. I've been here a handful times and sometimes the service is great and you get your food on time and the correct things you order. But sometimes you have to wait an hour for your food and it's the wrong items. I've ordered the same dish a few times, sometimes for takeout, and tastes different each time.
