I've been to a few Mediterranean and Middle Eastern places in my travels, so I am a slightly familiar with a few things. I know baba ghanoush so of course I ordered it and it was amazing. Tasty and comforting with a nice zing at the end. I've never had shawarma and really enjoyed the chicken with the garlic sauce. My server was great and very nice, I can't exactly remember his name and I will get it wrong for sure ... Mousaz I think. Friendly and happy to explain anything I wasn't familiar with. The food is decent and the portions are enormous. The flavor is good, but not so much to the Greek flavors I'm used to. I got the gyro and the meat was not your traditional shaved meat, but rather unusual rectangular cuts of meat with chunks of green pepper and I'm not sure why. There was supposed to be lettuce and tomatoes on it, but none were on it so that was disappointing, but the meat was still flavorful. My friend ordered the chicken meal that came with rice and roasted tomatoes which he enjoyed. The chicken was very tender and plentiful! I did order a side of hummus with no topping of chicken, which they forgot to top it with, but I was able to get a refund for the topping so it was all good. Loved the food! The ambience was gentle, comfortably very enjoyable. I also loved the music playing overhead. I wanted to tip the waiter but never got the chance, as the table across demanded much of his time.(a little more attention would have made it perfect!). The food alone is worth the trip. My friend and I visited Makani Lounge and had the pleasure of meeting the owner Nora. The beautiful place had amazing renovations since I visited a few years ago and I really appreciated the friendly service. They have a lot of great choices on the menu. I highly recommend the beef Makani pie, Kofta, and for dessert the Knafeh. Sooooo good. Definitely get a side of sauce... the yogurt and tahini are delish. Also loved the Cappucino (they carry Illy brand)! If you like tart and sweet drinks get the mint limeade. Hookah was high quality and so many flavors to choose from. I had ordered a combo meal off of Door Dash from Makani, which stated any order of $15 or more would have free delivery. I ordered a cold beverage to go with the meals. The price listed was $4.50. I wrote under the instructions, if the drink is not a 2-liter bottle, then cancel the order of the drink. I received my order from Door Dash quickly and efficiently, but I received a 12 oz can of soda which I was charged $4.50 for a tiny can of soda. Stores sell 12 packs of canned sodas for that price. When I spoke to the manager he stated that the price includes the delivery charge, which shows free delivery if you order $15 or more from their restaurant. Then he said the can of soda price is the delivery charge. So either they are scamming people $4.50 for cans of soda, or false advertisement of their free delivery. The food was also pretty horrible. The beef and chicken was overcooked, dry, and bland. There wasn't much onions or peppers. Just old rice and left over cut-up beef. I won't ever order from their again. read more

Went to this place the other night for the first time after my cousin recommended it to me. We were looking for a chill place to talk, smoke hookah, and grab a bite to eat and this place was perfect for that. -Really liked the decor, the seating was really comfortable and the staff was extremely nice especially the owner. -The hookah was some of the best I have ever had. It burned just right and we asked for a special mix that they took care of no problem. -I think the best part overall was the food. I was pleasantly surprised about how good it was. Usually hookah restaurants don't have the greatest food or is average at best but the items that we ordered were exceptionally good. The hummus and feta spread is by far the best you will have of any place around here. It was our first time here but we will definitely be back and I would absolutely recommend this place to others! read more

I love the fact that they have outdoor seating in summer esp for those who don't like to feel suffocated in a smokey room. We ordered fries, baba ganoush, mint tea, and raspberry ice tea. Mom and I were looking for a place for dinner. She wanted Mediterranean so we came here to check out the food. It was a weekday at 530pm. The place is surprisingly small; very intimate. I didn't like the closeness. Lol. You can hear everyone's conversation which makes it very loud. I think if they had music playing in the background it would help. The upscale decor is very attractive but know its more of a lounge feel then restaurant. Hookah is in the same space as food. If you are annoyed by the sound of people sucking hookah and/or the smell of vapes, this isn't your place. Otherwise, it's very comfy. I'd bring my girls here but wouldn't bring my mom here again. Lol. There are TVs around which is absolutely awesome. If you want to watch the game or sporting event, this is a good spot because you can hookah, drink, and eat while having seats to watch the game. So let me give you some good news. The Food. I ordered the Makani Platter: Marinated Beef Gyro & Grilled Chicken, grilled with red onions and green peppers. This was served on basmati rice. De.Lish.Us. A+ × 100. If you come here, believe me, this is what you order. Lemonade is not made with lemons. It actually comes out green. My eyes bugged out. The waitress mentioned that it's made with fresh lime. This is the best "lemonade" I've had in my life. Its sweet but not diabetic. It has wonderful texture and tastes very healthy. I appreciated the prices being quite inexpensive. Food is great. Hookah is ok. 2 weeks ago the happy hour was mon-thurs until 7 (1 hookah 1 app 1 drink for 15$ or 1 hookah for $10) . There were signs on every table. But as of last week , all the signs were removed from the table and I was told the happy hour now ends at 5. The main reason I give this place four stars is their food. Omg it's delicious. I tried their $5 lunch specials and a few of their sandwiches, the shawarma is amazing, and so are their fries. Seriously, kudos to their chef - just be prepared to wait a bit or order ahead. If not for the wait, would've rated this place higher. Also tried their hookah and it is average price - no cheaper or more expensive than elsewhere. But the flavors are good, everything is handled safely/hygienically and they're good about lighting more coals and checking in to ensure everything is ok. Very attentive service. Both dishes were outstanding, full of flavor and we can't wait to bring the whole family back! Then I read in the Sterling Patch that Live cock roaches were seen running around while the loudoun county health department inspectors were there inspecting the restaurant.. Great Experience. Best Hookah/Shisha in town. They serve illy coffee too and a wide variety of really good teas. They recently upgraded the entire place and the interior designer did a really good job. As far as their food - Makani platter is really good but I have also tried their Egyptian Entrees (foul / falafel / Kebda / Sujuk) entrees and they were amazing.
