Absolutely HATE Charter's high prices and slow internet. Unfortunately they have a total monopoly on our neighborhood so we have no choice other than to use their awful services if we want to be connected to the internet. 1999 speeds for 2019 prices. We have the "fastest" connection however our internet is patchy, slow, and drops or cuts out constantly. Technicians came out multiple times to try to improve it, however they eventually determined that the official cause of our slow speeds was due to congestion. Since we live in a densely populated neighborhood, a lot of neighbors are also using internet simultaneously, which makes our speed super slow and terrible even though we pay a TON of money every month. The Charter rep literally told me: "There are just too many old Asian people living in this area that are all streaming Chinese movies online at the same time. That's what's making it slow and there's nothing we can do about it." read more

Worst internet provider I've ever had to deal with. Internet works just about as much as it doesn't. WiFi doesn't connect half the time, and the passwords randomly stop working. It took me about 5 minutes just to get this screen up to write a review. I love how in certain areas they are the only cable provider you can get also. It's not make a choice between Time Warner (which I had for the last 4 years out here and never had a problem with at all) or Charter. How is that even legal anyways? As soon as our 6 months new member discount runs out in another month or two, we'll be dropping and trying U-verse or something similar. I suggest anyone not able to get Time Warner do the same. This location is sad. We are here at 5:03pm and there is only one (1) associate working in the office and there is about 10ppl at the time of check in. Ridiculous that we have to wait to return their equipment so we can get a receipt this way they can't charge us for not returning. While I thought there would be two associates as one came out from the office ...looks like that person is replacing the other FAIL! Whoever is running the schedule obviously doesn't know how to schedule appropriately. We have decided to cancel our services with Spectrum due to the throttling of internet bandwidth in our neighborhood. Installed December 26th removed December 27th. I am really torn on this review because most of the people were friendly but unfortunately no one has any idea what they are talking about. We ordered Charter to replace ATT-Uverse because they had a great deal and really fast internet. But within the first 24 hours we went through 4 phone calls, 2 technicians and a supervisor all of which told me something different and were unable to get the service working correctly. Problem #1-within 1 hour of watching TV we realized there were intermittent drop outs. We are connected via HDMI and upon researching and calling our tech it was determined to be a HDMI handshake problem. We tried 3 different cables and 2 different HDMI ports on the TV. For the record we also have an Xbox and Blueray player attached via HDMI with no issues whatsoever. It was determined that we should connect with Component Cables. On to Problem 2 Problem #2 - When connecting via component cables we had a very loud buzz that made TV un-watchable. We once again called our technician who told us that he has seen a large voltage on the line but thought it would be OK (It wasn't). More research led us to a Ground Loop issue. Now I understand this is a complicated issue that involves a lot of variables but I figured it out Via Google when I walked outdoors and realized they had grounded to a water faucet instead of the common ground with electrical and phone service that was located 6' away. They literally did more work to do it wrong. Problem #3 - While all these physical issues were attempting to be resolved we came across a peculiar issue. We were unable to search for a TV show by name. Search did not even show up on our weirdly designed guide. (I realize this seems like a weird thing to get mad at but when you have 500 channels and you are trying to find a specific show it is problematic...first word problem) We call tech support who told us this was completely wrong and they will send out a tech to fix. When the Tech arrived we were told it is not a function on the software they run in Burbank, CA and it might be fixed when they release an update (Date unknown). Thinking this sounded a bit unusual we called the main line again and they dispatched a supervisor who confirmed that it was not possible. Problem #4 - Frustrated with all these issues we decided it best to discontinue the fiasco that is Charter and Canceled our service while the Supervisor was still on site. He had agreed to return the boxes to save us a trip and apologized profusely for the problems saying he gets it all the time in Burbank.(I guess other areas have newer software). He had to run to his truck to get some tools to remove equipment. About 20 minutes later he was still not back so I went outside to see if he was still around. He was gone...SERIOUSLY THE SUPERVISOR LEFT WITHOUT SAYING A WORD OR TAKING THE BOXES. I will update Mid-January. I am sure we will receive a bill for the installation and lack of service at which point I will once again be frustrated with their ineptness. Save yourself the Hassle and go with ATT, Yes it costs a little bit more, Yes the internet is a little bit slower but honestly how much is your time worth? I spent almost 10 hours over the Christmas Holiday just trying to get cable TV for the family working. read more

As of June spectrum send letter to customers like my self about there Policy was changing there policy was if you continue with the Provider that meant you were being compliant with their new terms and conditions so I was calling to discount my TV and Voice? I was only keeping the internet so I call on Aug 24 to cancel the Represent it is said OK and said me the new building for next month which was only $70.89. Aug 25 I Receive another e-mail from charter stating that my billing for August was going to be $167.48 I called September 1, to speak to a supervisor in regards to the building and he said that I was in agreement from 2 months ago that their policy had change and there was no way he could just build me for the days of usage. No because the new system Generates that and so it was a holiday there was no way for me to speak to a manager so he said call on Tuesday i called today on today and I got a representative that said he was the lead person in the building department I requested a manager he said that a lead is the only one they can take care of the billing portion. I'm not the type to write reviews but I've never had such bad customer service. I had order the store equipment pick and had to wait about an hour. I wasn't greeted by the employee and I had noticed that he was being very rude to the customers being helped before me. Once it was my turn, the employee just asked me for my phone number and gave me the box and didn't not say anything which seemed odd. And I asked if that was all and he respond, " that's all". Once I arrived home I realized that I was missing some equipment. Inconsistent up-time: recently I had a solid month of the internet not going down. That is considered a world record. Before that, on a weekly basis you'll see the light on the cable modem blinking, indicating that it is looking for a signal. Unacceptable. 2. Turtle-like download speeds: want to stream video to more than 2 devices at the same time? GOOD LUCK. Even with the 6MBPS service, the internet will be chugging along as if we are in the 56k modem era. Unacceptable. Charter wasn't always like this though. At one point in time, up-time was solid and download speeds were blazing fast. Those days are gone and now it's time to move on. When you data flow is large, the modem will automatically slow down your speed to a very low level. Try to contact them see if I could use my old modem. The answer is: you knwo that.... This company is amateur-hour at best. We called to have a technician move our cable connection on a Saturday. It took 45 minutes to explain it to the call center employee. Eventually, they agreed to have a technician call us on Monday to schedule a visit. By Thursday, we still had not heard from anybody, so we had to call again. Eventually somebody called and scheduled an appointment. Then today, I get a notice that my payment has not been received, and they are scheduling a service disconnect. My payment was sent weeks ago. i don't really understand the low rating. they're not perfect but don't deserve such a low rating. i suspect people that are happy with charter just aren't posting. i hope my review can do a bit of justice... i've had charter since 2009. first in montebello and then in temple city. i cannot be happier. i only have their internet and phone service (no tv). the internet service is overall very smooth, high speed with very few issues. i can only recall i had problem once and they sent a tech to my house the same day (i called in the morning and he arrived 2 hours later), for free and he was super pleasant. so pleasant that i almost wanted to tip him . when i moved to temple city, they sent another tech to set things up (for free). he was awesome. polite, knowledgeable and worked for about an hour removing old wires and installing new. i wrote a letter to his supervisor to praise him. some of the things they can do better - every time i called them for something, which is about twice a year at most, they tried to sell me something. even though i repeatedly said i did not need tv services. i think once they even tried to sell me a package (i suspect they get commission for) and told me just cancel it before the installation so at least they can take credit for the sale. good thing i was smart. i have verizon at my other residence. they're comparable. verizon is a little more expensive and may have slightly slower internet, which i honestly can't tell most the time. they're equally reliable. i would go for charter again if i move and they have the service. read more

This place is really hidden behind the shopping center. I would give negative stars if I could but charter has a few redeeming factors. Here's my story: Horrible Internet service. I mean absolutely the worst. When I lived in Alhambra the Internet was awesome. For 3 years Always had great upload and download speed. Was getting more than 20 mps most times. Above what I was paying for. then I moved to San Gabriel. Less than 10 miles away from my old place and the Internet sucks so bad. About a month after starting our service we had to start calling about 2-3 times a week because the Internet was so slow my husband couldn't even sign on to the PSN. I don't even use the wifi on my iPhone when at home because the 3G network is better. It got so bad charter credited our account so much I didn't have to pay anything for about 3 months. Now it's almost 9 months later and the Internet still hasn't been fixed. Charter agreed to not only keep us on the promotional plan but also to credit the internet an additional $15/month which they promised to continue to do until the problem is resolved. The problem won't be resolved until the run a new line over the railroad tracks down the street. Who knows how long that will take? But the good side is Charter is willing to work with us to keep us as customers. As for this location: the reps seem to be friendly and the lines are never long but finding the place if you've never been is a pain in the butt. read more

I ordered Spectrum so I could start watching the Dodgers again. The installer showed up in a mini van with a ladder strapped to the top of it with a name of some other company on the van. After looking at it for a little while he determined it was going to be too much work for him so he said he could not hook it up. He was nice enough to unhook my internet in the process of looking at everything and screwing up the cabling that runs all over the house. read more

My boyfriends internet cable was cut by some dumb electricity workers working the line and when he called charter to bring someone in to fix it they said it would change him $75! My boyfriend was pissed so cussed him out and so the guy left and he was second thinking his actions so he called charter to set up another appointment the following day. The next day, a new guys came and told my boyfriend the same thing the guy before said, that someone had cut his line and my boyfriend confirmed and said it was the electricity people. He then asked the charter guy how much money it would cost to replace and he said that it should be free and that it wasn't even his fault the line was cut... my review is not for this location but for charter spectrum in general. I have been paying my bill for months now, and getting 50% service. Our phone and internet is down everyday for several hours. They never fix the problem they just mask it, cover it, send techs to repair and solve, they never get anything done, I feel sorry for the poor guys spending hours changing this changing that. I know for sure it is the service itself, can not accommodate heavy use or busy times of the day and we end up with no service at all. Shameful for robbing customers like that. I moved in April 2019 and went to the local Spectrum office to change my address and get new service. I signed up for the Lifestyle package. In the past month more and more channels are being flagged as 'premium' channels with a banner letting me know I can call and upgrade my service. Today I called the 800 number to ask for a list of channels I am paying for and was informed he could 'read it to me' however could not send me the list via email or hardcopy via U.S. mail. He checked with his supervisor and confirmed he would only read me the list. So... what does that mean? How often should I call to see if more channels have been eliminated? Evidently they don't offer this plan and even though I can access my account online, it doesn't allow me to see what channels I have since it is not a plan they are now selling.
