I've been in computer repair and support for 35 years and I would like to relate the superb experience given to us yesterday with Alice Computerworks in San Marino, (they also have a Hacienda Heights location). They have always been personable, plainspoken, honest and expedient. We dealt with Jude yesterday, who offered us either a Main Logic Board (aka Motherboard) replacement (for a two year old laptop) or to move forward in to a newer computer, at a $200 difference. We elected to purchase the newer computer, (updated processors, faster buses, fresh battery, etc). It was 3PM and they had our data xferred and everything up and running perfectly in two hours. If my laptop were a patient, it was on life support when I brought it into Alice Computerworks. I was ready to hold a vigil for the RAM status, when suddenly the punch card gave me 3 instances of repair for one price! Not only was I able to come in about a laptop earlier this year (which they put into the best shape possible), but also in December at the end of the year for an entirely different laptop! They managed to help me do exactly what i needed from my laptop in terms of performance-- including the gaming which I swear I'll get better at one day. I bought a new printer from Jude at Alice computer. HE IS AWESOME! I kept changing my mind about what printer I wanted, in fact he ordered two for me and I still changed it again. He was sooooo patient. If I were him I'd have had a fit but Jude was very calm. He went over and above. When it was time to pick it up he set it up so all I had to do was connect it to my wifi at home. My husband and I have used Alice Computer in the past for all our computer purchase, repair and printer needs. You'd be a fool not to make them your computer store of choice. These guys are great! They quoted me $100 if they could replace my mousepad without replacing the casing around the keyboard, which has a crack in it, and said it would be $200 if they did have to replace it. Turns out it was just a repair instead of any replacement and they called me up when the computer was fixed and told me it was only $40 to fix it. Of course, I was delighted! I've got nothing but good things to say about the employees that work at Alice computer works. Took my PC components in Thursday morning to build me a gaming pc. Very friendly staff and super helpful from the get go. Jude greeted me as soon as I walked in, following the rest of the staff. They helped me grab all the pc components out of my car so I didn't need to make multiple trips. Left it with them and a few hours later I get a call saying my pc is ready to pick up. I wasn't even expecting it to be done the same day but it was! Went over to grab it and was met with professionalism and knowledge on the gaming pc. I had my MacBook fixed here before and I was disappointed with the experience. They relaxed my mother drive (I think that's what it was called) but it was so problematic where the fan was constantly going off after they switched it out and they kept telling me not to worry. Researching I found out it is because they are not genuine apple parts and eventually a few months later my laptop again became faulty (mind you the laptop is only a year old during this time. They ended up changing another problem for me in the laptop where again the mouse was only working 75% of the time but by the time I brought it up to them they said it was past their window and I'd have to pay again even though I've paid multiple times in the past. I would suggest just bring in it to Apple to fix your laptops at least they will use genuine parts. Customer service was bad and not worth the headache and multiple trips in hopes to save some money where in the end you might end up spending more than what the laptop is worth. read more

Unreliable. We came here for a laptop hinge fix. The guy said it was going to cost $200 and we had to leave the laptop for 7-10 days; or pay in full first, we could bring the laptop home, but we had to come back once they are ready with the hinge. So we chose option number 1, we left the laptop for 7-10 days. 1-2 days before the 10 days was up, the guy called us and said that the hinge was a special order and we had to pay an extra $50. We said we agreed the job was $200...not $250, they can't just increase the price 1 day before pick up. So the guy agreed OK $200 but we had to wait for 1 month because they had to special order it from Taiwan. Omg. Didn't end up fixing here and was glad we didn't. Other place does it for maybe the same price but much faster. Done in 3 days instead of 10 days or ...1 month. read more

Alice Computerworks (ACW) installed eight outside security cameras and a network video recorder in my father's house nine years ago. The system was well-installed, with cables hidden in the attic, and has worked without interruption--even if my father never bothered to learn how to review historical video. Recently, the video quality of one of the cameras became degraded. I called ACW to learn my repair options and to learn how to set up the video recorder to see the video on an Android phone and a Windows PC. The right resource at ACW was busy, so I left my contact information. A couple hours later, Jude called me back. Jude was knowledgeable and pleasant, explaining how to see the video remotely. Jude explained that his policy was honest work: good service at a fair price. Jude scheduled Stanley to come by the house the next day to diagnose the camera issue. Stanley was smart and articulate, performed his diagnosis, and scheduled a time the following week to return with a replacement camera (having given me the options for replacing the camera). Jude communicated the (very reasonable) cost of the repair...9 years after original installation. Stanley returned as promised and installed a replacement camera which, not surprisingly, provides better video than the other cameras. I recommend ACW for all your security camera needs and am now considering upgrading the entire system in the next year. The world needs more businesses like ACW. read more

They were open to matching the prices I found online for the parts plus another $250 for building and testing. I find this pricing to be very reasonable. Next week my PC was ready for pick up. Jude walked me through the build, including showing off their cable management and relevant software for AIO, lighting, etc. Everything looked great. I have been using my new PC for a couple of weeks now and haven't had any issues. Derek was welcoming and Jude was detailed and honest about the computer build process. My girlfriend's Lenovo work laptop was beginning to sound like a tiny buzzsaw so we began making a round of phone calls. We stumbled on ALICE'S after one of their competitors, who was going to be out of the office for 2 weeks, highly suggested we go to Alice's in San Marino. Alice's installed a new fan but warned us that the hard drive only had a few months' life left. We appreciated the advice (and the low cost of the fan replacement) and went on our way. (Oh, and they gave her a LOANER laptop for the weekend!) A few months later the laptop began running as slow as frozen molasses so we knew it was time for a new laptop. We went straight back to Alice's and purchased a new Asus. Nice machine. But it turned out that it didn't have enough gHz to run her virtual backgrounds on Zoom or Teams which she needs daily for work. So Alice's took that Asus back and for a couple hundred more we picked up a super nice LG i7 onto which they also tossed, for free, a few peripherals we needed. Every question that she's had on the computer, and every compatibility issue she's had with software, has been answered in detail by either Jude or Roy at Alice's. Alice's prices were pretty much just what you'd pay on Amazon but you get someone to set it up and answer any questions. I prefer to use Outlook, and from time to time, I am required to change my login password. As the last version of Outlook is 2010, there is an additional security password required. I couldn't figure out this last step ...but Alice Computers (San Marino) could. As a doctoral student, the thought of losing all my work & reaserch, besides personal files was all consuming and devastating. Very reliable, very helpful, and in my mind, definitely worth your time! I was referred here by the nearby Alhambra Computer Services (who was occupied with family business) regarding my longtime PC suddenly BSODing one night. The folks there were able to identify what went wrong, communicate it clearly, help me figure out my options, and took care of it very efficiently. The whole process felt like a breeze, and the technicians there are very easygoing personality-wise, it's a very chill place. Only took a day to replace my fried SSD card and relaunch my OS (and also save a backup of my recovered data). They were also really patient the following day after I picked it up, as I ended up needing to bring it back in a couple of times due to random complexities of my own custom build. Was kind of embarrassing on my part, but they're all very professional haha. Prices were also very fair, for both data transfer/installation and some new hardware. I reached out to Alice Computerworks through their website and Jeff, who handled my report, agreed to take a quick look at my busted laptop and give me an estimate for free. Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit the store in person when they were looking at my laptop, but Alice Computerworks was willing to negotiate with me through the phone. I found out that we had a miscommunication when we spoke through email; while they would take a look at my laptop for free, opening it up and running diagnostics would run me a fee. Nonetheless, the techs were very accepting of our miscommunication and did their best to find a compromise that worked for me. I eventually decided not to run the diagnostic and attempt a repair, but I deeply appreciated the sincere effort Alice Computerworks put in to accomodate my situation and get me the best price. read more

We needed a new laptop charger for our MacBook Pro. In an effort to save some money, I was buying cheap generic chargers on Amazon, which turned out to be a waste because they needed replacing every year. So when the last one burned through an outlet, I decided to just price out the real Apple version. I called every place in the area and Alice Computerworks was the cheapest one around. The store is on Huntington and we found street parking right in front of the entrance. When we walked in, I was surprised by the number of people who were in need of computer repair. We were greeted and helped by a knowledgeable young lady. She grabbed the charger we needed and promptly rang us up at the counter. The price I was quoted over the phone was the price I paid. If I were in need of repairs, I would not hesitate to take my computer here. Some of the prices I was being quoted were absurd.
