Other repair stores I called said there would be a several day wait, since they were busy Without an appointment, I walked in and spoke with Lian at the front desk. She was incredibly kind and took the time to explain the entire process to me. Since I arrived close to closing time and didn't have an appointment, she let me know they would run diagnostics on my laptop the following day. There's an $89 diagnostic fee, and if repairs are needed, part of the $89 fee can be used towards the cost, which felt reasonable. The next day, Martin called to let me know there was no damage and that he had cleaned the affected keys. He explained that my laptop passed all tests, but the battery was consumed. When I wasn't sure what that meant, he patiently explained and advised that since the battery wasn't swelling and the computer was still performing well, there was no need to replace it unless I noticed issues. I really appreciated that he took the time to explain everything and didn't try to upsell me. I was able to pick up my laptop later that same day which was less than 24 hours after dropping it off. I previously had a great Mac repair experience at this mostly Apple-focused store, so when my child's gaming laptop failed, I brought it to the Microsoft counter at the back of the store. I paid the $89 diagnostic fee and understood that it would be applied toward the repair cost if I moved forward with the repair. That policy is completely reasonable. After diagnosing the issue as a failed motherboard, however, I was told they could not obtain the necessary Asus part and therefore could not perform the repair. I later learned that an authorized repair provider could obtain the part and complete the repair. My frustration is not that they charged for diagnostic time. My frustration is that no one mentioned before taking my money that they might not be able to source Asus parts or complete the repair. Had I known that, I would have taken the computer directly to an authorized repair provider. The laptop is currently being repaired by Geek Squad. I intentionally support small local businesses, and Di-No is close to my home, so it seemed like a win-win. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. When I asked whether a refund was possible given that the repair could not be performed, I was told no. Consumers should know there is a possibility they may pay for a diagnosis, only to discover that the shop cannot complete the repair and that they will need to start over elsewhere. read more

On Friday AM my MacBook screen decided to suddenly go black blank in the middle of a huge work project. I brought it to Di-No who ordered the parts and returned it to me by MONDAY! Can you break something that's already broken? Well, apparently you can and I sadly found this out the hard way when I broke my laptop after it was already not working. This was during the first few weeks of the COVID lockdowns and if you remember those days, you know how a person could absolutely NOT be without a computer at that time. It was what they called one of the essentials; you needed it to do work, to communicate with the outside world, to be social without getting too depressed and to even have fun. After suffering from physical isolation, I could not be separated from the virtual world as well. So I looked up the wait times at the Apple stores and their earliest appointment was 6 weeks away. Then I checked out Di-No computers since they were authorized to repair Apple laptops/Macbooks and, to my astonishment, they said to bring it in the same day. It turns out that I was living a few blocks from the store at that time (both Di-No and I have moved since then and I am no longer walking distance, but still only a five minute drive in case you cared to know). I walked my laptop over there and they were following strict no-contact protocols so I dropped it off in a container and then they did their magic. I was able to have all of my concerns resolved (broken screen, water damage, and start-up problems) in just a few days and my laptop was back to working again! Since then, I have been to their new location a couple of times to fix my phone. They have another section of the store called "micro consultants" where the technicians worked on my phone and they were able to get my phone issues resolved within the same day. The staff at Di-No are very cooperative and when they told us that they couldnt help us with something they pointed us to a different company or im not sure if its a different company but they fix different things than dino and said the price was 220 which i thought was expensive so then they even offered a 40 dollar discount and we said no. We bought a new iPad after that and we had a problem which was signing in to the wrong icloud account and it would have been easier to fix it but there was another problem that they helped us really fast and told us to erase the ipad and we went home and did the rest of it but overall they are very nice and they will help you. read more

Di-no computers is an official Apple device servicer at the time I used them. If u go to the Apple Store website in Pasadena, they will refer u to di-no and one other store for official servicing. The Apple website tried to get me to make an appointment to go to di-no for the following day, but I called them directly. They said they were booked out for 1-2 weeks but would fit me in the following day if I came in at open. The man at the front counter was very nice and professional. They finished my phone by the time promised. It was just a battery replacement and seems to be working properly with no problems a few weeks after the service now. The price was $99 for simple battery replacement in 12-2023. Since i anticipated they might ask for my phone unlock code (NOT Apple id), then I tried to logout of everything prior to arriving at the store in case they asked for this, which they did. Not sure if that is standard practice. They did not appear to tamper with anything they were not supposed to or steal my info. Overall, I would give them another shot for future phone battery replacement. Many stores have horror stories in the Yelp reviews for iPhone repair. At the time of my service, di-no only had one complaint for a customer service issue unrelated to the inappropriate or dishonest practices other stores had. All their other reviews were generally positive. Particularly if you just need a simple repair, give these guys a shot. Hopefully Apple regulates their official repair services and will drop these guys if their level of honesty should change and if they are retained, then hopefully that indicates continued honesty. read more

Background On Visit: Just recently one of our associates had problems with her speakers on her 15" mid 2015 macbook pro. So I called apple support and they suggested to that I should go to a nearby certified apple service provider to get the speaker issued fixed, because of how ancient the macbook pro is. I called around to different shops to inquiry about the cost of the diagnostic and repair. After doing some research, Di-No Computers, was the shop that I chose to do the repair. Location/Parking: Located next to Pollo Loco. Parking can be found in their small lot or along Mountain View Ave. Diagnostic Fee: Normally it's $35, but Xavier told me there was no diagnostic fee when I talked to him on the phone. Cost Of Repair: Parts + Labor + Tax = $118.95. Service: Note: Normally when you take your laptop to get service, Apple usually wipes your data. So glad that this certified apple service provider doesn't do that. Plus, you get a 3 month warranty. Service: Linda, Xavier, and Pedro (tech) was great. The turn around time was 7 business days. Initially, they didn't have the part when I took the laptop to get diagnosed on 1/11/2022, but on 11/18/2022, the part arrived. I dropped off the laptop at 230pm and picked it up at 7pm. Didn't talk to the tech who fixed the laptop, but he did a great job. The laptop could now play sound clearly without any muffling. Fairly poor experience overall. The staff are nice, but the overall service is not great. They provided a total repair service cost of $835.70 for the replacement of the keyboard and battery of a 2019 16" macbook pro. I specifically told them I would need it done before a certain day, and gave them 12 days to complete the repair. They could not complete the service in the time I asked them for, and returned it to me 2 days later. Apple's quoted repair for the same service was $698.00 before tax, and they guaranteed a return within 5 business days. I would not recommend taking your apple devices here for repair, as they will charge you more for a slower service, just take it to Apple directly. read more

Made appointment to have my screen fixed and when I got there the staff seemed pretty good except for the person helping me. He was a scatter brain trying to do too much. I Filled out the paperwork and was told my phone would be ready in 3 hours because the repair person is not here yet (not one hour like the online appointment stated). I left and in 30-40 minutes I get a phone call telling me they don't have the part in stock. So pretty much wasted my time instead of having common sense making sure the part was in stock before letting the customer make the appointment and letting the customer leave. People who are good repairmen working on a bench are not necessarily good people to have service a home computer. After asking their office if they had someone who made house calls, I was assigned a tech who came to my house. He accomplished very, very little and had trouble understanding how I expressed the problems. I spoke English; he spoke computer jargon. He was a native English speaker, born in US, but could not speak normal conversational English. I felt like I was speaking Welsh and he was speaking Hungarian! He told me that several things I'd been told to do by other "experts" were wrong and "will destroy the machine". I will never have this person in my house again; he was just too weird and he has no "people skills" whatsoever. I'm not very tech savvy and I'm weary of getting taken advantage of for that when it comes to getting my computers/phones repaired, however I felt I was in good hands here. My MacBook Pro screen burnt out on me and I didn't know what to do. During a pandemic and no computer? No bueno. Everywhere around my area (Orange County) was booked but DiNo was taking appointments. After 50 minute drive the staff was upfront with me regarding my possible expensive repair given my screen would need to be replaced. They pushed it as far as they can to see if Apple will cover my repair. Shortly after 15 minutes or so I was told they will! They told me within a week my computer parts will be delivered to them and they'll repair my screen. Surely that's exactly how it went. My computer screen is brand spanking new and I'm so relieved. Now I get it. Die? No! My MacbookPro battery was swelling for over a year because the first place I took it said they would take it away for two weeks to send to Apple for repair. It was really impossible to be without my laptop for that long so I waited to order the new MacBookPro while my current laptop hobbled along--shutting off spontaneously and fan whirring from overheating. Of course, the new laptops are backordered and I'm having anxiety my computer is going to die and I'll have nothing to work on. Thank goodness a colleague recommended Di-No. They diagnosed it and ordered my part which came in a week and I could continue to work on it until the part arrived. The repair took half a day. It was kind of like watching a friend go off to surgery. Thank goodness there are experts on site to fix the computers. Spilled a sugary drink on my keyboard and got some of the keys sticky but the battery was unharmed. I talked to the apple store and they said I'd need an entire top case replacement (which would've been over $1000). Came to Di-No and even though I said I'd be fine paying for a new top case, they told me they could replace just the sticky keys for $50 total! I came back a few weeks later since there were still a few keys that were gummy and they replaced them on the spot for free. Great service and friendly workers.
