The call linked me to Jose and accepted to evaluate my Son's gaming laptop repair the next day. During the evaluation, Jose explained how the gaming laptop hinge would be repaired and gave two options for the repair approach. After two days with Jose at Fix A computer, I received a text alert that my Son's laptop was ready for retrieval. Jose stated the repairs that were done and applied new thermal glue, improving my Son's gaming laptop cooling functions. I talked to Jose, the owner, about adding ram and anything else that may be needed to make my computer faster and he said bring it in. Before I did though, I wanted to find out how much ram I could add and what else needed to be done to make the computer faster and so I asked if I could send details about the computer for him to look at so that he could tell me what was possible. I wanted to do this so that I could get everything done in one trip; if he knew what was possible and what I needed then he could be prepared. So I sent him the email as promised and he never responded. Then I sent a follow up email, a text, and a voice mail but Jose never responded to anything. I'm not sure what happened but it's not very professional and certainly no way to run a business. read more

I had an issue with my gaming pc. It was built 2 years ago and randomly decided not to turn on after switching to a better power strip that allowed more outlets and usb charging. After testing connections switches and diagnostics carefully and basic tutorials off my smartphone, I decided to find a repair shop. I've only had two computers that I decided to take in to repairs. Once to Fry's and another time to another mom & pop repair. Both were over 10 years ago and both times I felt I was ripped off. After scanning througb the 1 & 2 star review's on yelp, I found this place. Jose wasn't available, but I was assured that they would find out what was the problem with my tower. The shop is very clean and organized. Jose helped me alot, i told him the details of my computer and he was more than willing to help me out. My corsair keyboard got liquid damage and he helped me fix it by cleaning the ribbon and taking all the mechanical keys out, now its working perfect, also he helped me clean out my fans in my custom built rig. Stole our original HP parts! We brought our laptop to replace a new keyboard 2 years ago. Since then, we never repair the computer. Over the weekend, our friend open up the laptop to clean the inside for us. We discovered these people took our original HP mouse pad and replace it with used part (we can tell is an used part because it uses black permanent marker to write price on it). We bought this laptop at Costco warehouse brand new. There's no way the mouse pad use "used parts with permanent marker writing $$". More over, we found out they broke the cover when they open the laptop. There were glue marks on the upper right corner. Another thing is they cut (obvious cut mark) the wire of the on/off button that connected to the screen. Luckily we don't use the computer often. Else, it can easily damage the fan. Don't know why these people done so many damages to my laptop. All I ask for is to replace the keyboard. I understand the glue corner but stealing the mouse pad & cut the wire is not acceptable. read more

As with all computer repair places, it's good to have as much detail of your problem before you go in a shop. It'll give the computer tecks a better idea of what to look for, and help service you better. If a certain part isn't working, it's usually better to buy the actual product yourself and then taking it to the them to properly install it. For my issue, my computer wasn't turning on. I went to check the power supply, and found it to be working, and figured it would be a motherboard issue. So I bought the same model motherboard and brought both my computer and motherboard to Fix-A-Computer. As it turns out, it was more than a motherboard issue, involving a fan that was cutting off the power and other minor things, but they patched it up with my consent, always letting me know what the price would be for these fixes. They gave me frequent updates on the status of my computer through phone calls which is great. The owner and the employee that worked on my computer were very nice, and the service was better than I could anticipate. The price range is on the good side of inexpensive, much less than taking it to a brand-name store, and isn't low enough without stirring suspicions (You should question taking your computer/laptop to anyplace that is really cheap anyway). The actual place is a little hard to find since the shop is small and the store name is placed on a small plank hanging off the outside, but otherwise is a really great find. Jose is really helpful and fair. He helps my business with all of our IT needs. I originally settled on him because out of all the computer guys we have used, he was the only one able to fix our DOS systems with a lasting solution. He works quickly and efficiently, has excellent prices (just like us ;D), and he always figures something out to save our butts. He also always gives me tips about our systems and tries to go over simple solutions before he comes out I.E. he gives us free information so that we can do simple fixes ourselves and DON'T HAVE TO PAY HIM. For about two years I've had a problem where my computer would just crash. I always thought it was a virus. Then as time went on it became so frequent that it wouldn't even boot. I was so worried that I called up this place and came in the next day. I told them about my issue. They said to bring in my screen, monitor and wires so they can diagnose the issue. Apparently my issue was that the memory card and fan were too dusty. They explained that when it's too dusty inside your computer, the memory card won't boot. The computer would overheat if the fan's too dusty as it needs to cool down the interior. It made sense. During the last days when it was able to boot, the fan would always sound heavy. They blew off the dust. They needed to keep my computer overnight to play videos to see if everything was alright. Don't worry, they won't look through your personal stuff. Apparently everything was fine and I was able to bring home my computer their next business day. Now it works well. All that was $25 for the cleaning. read more

I had the occasion to return to Fix-A-Computer last week. They're my total go-to place. They built a custom PC for me which I adore. My PC crashed for some unknown reason. I tried all the usual things and just couldn't figure it out. It wasn't booting. Anyway, I called over there and Jose said I could bring it in the next morning. I was prepared for the worst. Jose took it through some tests and determined it was a bad data cable, maybe the old surge protectors I was using. Everything was there. He tested the monitor, too. Maybe I was there for half an hour. It took me longer to reconnect it at home than my visit to Jose. He was patient, thorough, and friendly. He asked me where I'd traveled from. Took my son's expensive gaming computer in that had the "blue screen of death", was overheating, making horrible noises and stopped working. They diagnosed it quickly and gave me an excellent price to repair it.
