This guy came recommended to me but when I called him to get a quote for fixing the charger port on my laptop, he quoted me in excess of $120! I have a cheap Chromebook the cost me $150. I know darn well that it probably just needs soldering. 50 bucks would be more than reasonable for anyone's time for this job, unless it becomes more in depth than that. I totally understand the job is small, but I have about four computers and five tablets in my home and could be a repeat customer with a lot of business in the future If I was quoted a fair price. Sam's a magician, right now i'm only writing this review because he was able to fix my computer, not only did he got my computer to work, but he also hooked it up with an upgrade to win8 pro and ms office 13 pro as well on the house. my comp's bios wouldn't start after it failed to read my crucial m4 ssd, it would splash post but would not enter bios, sam took my battery out, drained the residual battery and resetted the mobo. Then the problem came where my dvd drive was not recognized by my computer, it's just one thing after another, i guess that's what you get for buying cheap parts. All in all, he reformatted my pc and installed win8 pro on it (i had win7 home premium before) and everything works even faster than before now. My computer is old because was built for almost 10 years, so I looked up and found him on Yield! My disk memory is full and I desired to install another external drive. We had a conversation and I explained what happened. Then I made an appointment and he came to my house in the next few days to install the new external drive. The computer was Window 7 and it has a RAID system in my PC(I never know that before) which made my RAM full so fast. So Sam fixed and upgraded my computer into Window 10 and also installed a new external drive for me!!! Best computer repair service I've ever had. Met him at his apartment (his office is currently being renovated) and he fixed my boyfriend's custom-built gaming desktop tower in no time. He found the problem very quickly and I was done in half an hour. He even walked us step by step when he was fixing it and explained what he was doing and why. Hi Sam, a simple misunderstanding that the text messaging service didn't work for your cell phone service would've sufficed. But instead, you had to resort to implying that it's somehow my fault for that you lost my business? You're right that I didn't make an "official appointment" when we spoke but you said that you we're going to be around my neighborhood to pick up my laptop around a certain time since you had a job close by. Surely you had my cell phone number when I called and spoke to you on your phone from your call history. You could've made an extra effort on your part to follow up. I was having an issue with my MacBook (file folder icon with a flashing question mark on every attempted start-up). Sam told me that I needed a new hard drive and said it would cost $160. I agreed to the service in good faith, thinking I would be getting a new hard drive and that it was worth the investment. After Sam worked on my laptop, I got home and powered it up - things looked crazy/corrupted, so I called him. He was an absolute tool on the phone and tried to insinuate that I did something to mess up my own laptop after picking it up from him. He went ballistic during the call and ended up hanging up on me. I tried to continue the conversation via text because he had mentioned that he videoed my hard drive repair, so I asked if he would send me an image of the harddrive packaging/serial number, etc that he installed (which I thought was completely within reason, considering I paid him $160 for the job?). He then got super defensive and accused me of suggesting that he did not install a new hard drive. I told him there was no reason to be defensive, and since he had a video of the job, he should be able to produce proof that I got a new hard drive. He responded by saying he was 'done talking' to me. Find a reputable place to take you computer... this guy is a prick and may try to pull a fast one on you. ***in response to "Al" below: Funny Al, I don't even know who you are. We have certainly never met, and you have not reached out to me to try to address my concerns about the hard drive Sam installed (I'm not impressed with your business practices). I lost all my files after my computer crash. My laptop would not even go into the BIOS page....just a completely blank screen. After calling several guys from Craigslist, I got all sorts of quotes ranging from $200-$700. I talked to Sam and he quoted me $150 or so. After asking some questions to make sure he at least knew some computer basics, I dropped off my computer at his place. After two or three days he managed to save all the files on my hard drive; which was amazing! Equally amazing was that the data recovery only cost me $80 bucks which is half of what he originally quoted me. This guy does great work on-the-cheap. My gaming laptop had the blue screen of death and wouldn't boot up or factory reset. I called and they were able to come up with possible reasons why that was happening. They came here and after some attempts were able to fix it. The guy was clearly knowledgeable in the field and knew what he was doing all while teaching me some stuff of my own laptop. Sam came over to help me with my gaming computer, I was fairly new to pc so I didnt understand what was wrong with my pc. After Sam opened the pc up and ran different test to see why the pc wasn't booting up, he found out that my ssd drive wasn't working anymore so he configured windows on my 2tb hard drive. My visit to Mac's Genius Bar evaluation: hard drive is burnt, you need to go to a different place, get your files out, we will replace your hard drive for you after that if you want. Price: $250 + taxes + cost of recovering data from somewhere else. My visit to Sam: my files were recovered and saved, my hard drive looked through, my computer had problems reading the boot commands, my files recovered, my computer was given back fixed with all the same files intact.
