Here's the skinny: My elderly mother-in-law lives in Arcadia, and I live in North Carolina. When I lived near Arcadia, I was her "IT Guy." Before I moved to NC, I found reviews of Sam and his service on Yelp, and I filed away Sam's number for future tech disasters. You see, my mother-in-law was never great with technology, and as she ages, technology just gets harder for her. On more than one occasion, she and technology...just don't get along, and everything went FUBAR. Here's where Sam comes to the rescue for both my MIL and me. My MIL can trust that Sam will get her tech up and running, and I, from 3600 miles away, have complete confidence that Sam knows what he's doing and then some. At at the latest tech incident at my MIL's house, Sam went above and beyond the call of duty. The fact that he has great with older folks is a big plus in my book. I know some people might balk at his rate, but you know what, Sam is worth it. read more

I called this service for the first time last week. Sam took the time to call back after explaining that I carelessly broke my laptop screen after dropping it. He's a real nice guy, and I'm glad I chose this service. He also took the time to fix my laptop screen and recommended me to get a laptop case to prevent further damage. I recommend this service if your laptop is broken. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. The two photos displays the before and after of the service performed. read more

Sams computer repair never returned my calls. I left many messages and they never got back to me.

Wanted to show appreciation to Sam for calling me back within 2 min of my initial phone call. Sam took the time to patiently listen to my PC issues over the phone and offered to help me trouble shoot some basic potential issues to map out the next steps. He offered a few ideas and thoughts I could try out on my own before formally scheduling an inspection or to bring it in, which I found extremely helpful. He offered his time and wisdom without trying to close a sale, and genuinely came from a position of wanting to help. For this reason alone, if I need help with any other pc related issue, I will be reaching out to Sam first. read more

I had my daughter in laws IMac desktop shipped from out if state, and no idea what was wrong with it. Sam came to my home within 2 hours of my initial call to him, Sam was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. He replaced the hard drive, helped me file a complaint with UPS, since the screen was cracked, helped me connect the printer and just, overall, made sure all my needs were met, with a follow up appointment when I receive an external hard drive to save all my photos and documents. If you need computer repairs, I HIGHLY recommend Sam's Computer Repair! You won't regret it! read more

Good service, good quality, nice people. Also a small business near me house so a good place to support. Will come back again. They do a good job for a good price. read more

This guy came recommended to me but when I called him to get a quote for fixing the charger port on my laptop, he quoted me in excess of $120! I have a cheap Chromebook the cost me $150. I know darn well that it probably just needs soldering. 50 bucks would be more than reasonable for anyone's time for this job, unless it becomes more in depth than that. I totally understand the job is small, but I have about four computers and five tablets in my home and could be a repeat customer with a lot of business in the future If I was quoted a fair price. I also see that anyone else who left a negative review got a tongue lashing via a very long message using very unprofessional, retaliatory statements. Yikes. read more

I love this brilliant company. The solutions they are able to find are genius. We run a tight ship now because of Sam's Computer Repair. Our computers just fly. The technicians are just a joy to have in your home as well. We can't say enough great things about Sam's. The rates are very reasonable with lasting solutions. read more

Sam's a magician, right now i'm only writing this review because he was able to fix my computer, not only did he got my computer to work, but he also hooked it up with an upgrade to win8 pro and ms office 13 pro as well on the house. my comp's bios wouldn't start after it failed to read my crucial m4 ssd, it would splash post but would not enter bios, sam took my battery out, drained the residual battery and resetted the mobo. Then the problem came where my dvd drive was not recognized by my computer, it's just one thing after another, i guess that's what you get for buying cheap parts. All in all, he reformatted my pc and installed win8 pro on it (i had win7 home premium before) and everything works even faster than before now. Sam's a cool guy, he does small talk and explain the situation as you go step by step, he also told me he use to work for dell as a technician, he proved it with the ms insignia dell usb stick, he charged only 80bucks for the whole thing, great guy, would definitely be coming back when my ssd fails again read more

I needed to upgrade the RAM in my laptop in order to do some higher end photo editing. I called Sam - based on Yelp reviews - he picked up immediately, asked the right questions, said he would research what the laptop could accommodate and get back with me. He did. He quoted a price and I paid deposit easily with PayPal. When the RAM arrived he let me know and arranged a house call to install it. A house call. He showed up on time, worked quickly, installed the RAM and ensured that the laptop was 'seeing it' properly. We shook hands and he was on his way after I paid the balance. It is rare to find capable, friendly service that comes to your house without extra charge and does rapid, successful work. Great job! read more

My computer is old because was built for almost 10 years, so I looked up and found him on Yield! My disk memory is full and I desired to install another external drive. We had a conversation and I explained what happened. Then I made an appointment and he came to my house in the next few days to install the new external drive. The computer was Window 7 and it has a RAID system in my PC(I never know that before) which made my RAM full so fast. So Sam fixed and upgraded my computer into Window 10 and also installed a new external drive for me!!! Moreover, I had some few problems with my PC(wifi adapter and CDs reader), and I texted to him and he came back to fix the problem. The price was reasonable for me. Sam is friendly and funny so I give it a 5 star!!! I may called him for help again if I have the computer's issue read more

Best computer repair service I've ever had. Met him at his apartment (his office is currently being renovated) and he fixed my boyfriend's custom-built gaming desktop tower in no time. He found the problem very quickly and I was done in half an hour. He even walked us step by step when he was fixing it and explained what he was doing and why. It was very affordable, coming to about $60, especially in comparison to Fry's and other stores which were saying at least $125. I recommend going to him with your computer problems! read more

Hi Sam, a simple misunderstanding that the text messaging service didn't work for your cell phone service would've sufficed. But instead, you had to resort to implying that it's somehow my fault for that you lost my business? You're right that I didn't make an "official appointment" when we spoke but you said that you we're going to be around my neighborhood to pick up my laptop around a certain time since you had a job close by. Surely you had my cell phone number when I called and spoke to you on your phone from your call history. You could've made an extra effort on your part to follow up. I don't normally write negative responses unless it's warranted and in this case, it is. Sounds like you're the one being dramatic in your own responses. Work on your customer service skills and you'll get more positive business. I'm not being dishonest and narrating my point of view of what exactly happened that day when I spoke to you. You could've been respectful and I would've understood and possibly change my review. But again, you choose to insult me which shows the lack of profession and customer service for your business. read more

Sam was quick to call me back and help me out with my damaged iMac. He let me know it'd cost more to repair than to get a new one. I was having an issue with my MacBook (file folder icon with a flashing question mark on every attempted start-up). Sam told me that I needed a new hard drive and said it would cost $160. I agreed to the service in good faith, thinking I would be getting a new hard drive and that it was worth the investment. After Sam worked on my laptop, I got home and powered it up - things looked crazy/corrupted, so I called him. He was an absolute tool on the phone and tried to insinuate that I did something to mess up my own laptop after picking it up from him. He went ballistic during the call and ended up hanging up on me. I tried to continue the conversation via text because he had mentioned that he videoed my hard drive repair, so I asked if he would send me an image of the harddrive packaging/serial number, etc that he installed (which I thought was completely within reason, considering I paid him $160 for the job?). He then got super defensive and accused me of suggesting that he did not install a new hard drive. I told him there was no reason to be defensive, and since he had a video of the job, he should be able to produce proof that I got a new hard drive. He responded by saying he was 'done talking' to me. Find a reputable place to take you computer... this guy is a prick and may try to pull a fast one on you. ***in response to "Al" below: Funny Al, I don't even know who you are. We have certainly never met, and you have not reached out to me to try to address my concerns about the hard drive Sam installed (I'm not impressed with your business practices). Yelpers share experiences so that others can benefit from the information. Screenshots of text that I have posted here speak for themselves. People are free to interpret the information as they wish and make their own informed decision. The key is that it's an informed decision - I am doing my part to help others avoid the mistake I made in trusting my laptop with Sam's Computer Repair. Calling me an extortion artist is one of the silliest things I've ever heard; thanks for the laugh! In addition, your claims that I have continued to contact you, or that other customers were present during my interaction with Sam is a total crock. It's clear you are desperately trying to grasp at straws to discredit my one-star review. Again, the screenshots speak for themselves. read more

I lost all my files after my computer crash. My laptop would not even go into the BIOS page....just a completely blank screen. After calling several guys from Craigslist, I got all sorts of quotes ranging from $200-$700. I talked to Sam and he quoted me $150 or so. After asking some questions to make sure he at least knew some computer basics, I dropped off my computer at his place. After two or three days he managed to save all the files on my hard drive; which was amazing! Equally amazing was that the data recovery only cost me $80 bucks which is half of what he originally quoted me. This guy does great work on-the-cheap. I look forward to referring him to any one of my friends or family. I was really lucky to find Sam. read more

Sam went above and beyond to help me with recovering files from a 10 year old laptop. He came on very short notice, and stayed much longer than he probably expected to stay due to the size of the files and the slowness of my computer. His price was extremely fair for the amount of work he ended up doing. I highly recommend his services! read more

My visit to Sam: my files were recovered and saved, my hard drive looked through, my computer had problems reading the boot commands, my files recovered, my computer was given back fixed with all the same files intact.
