Before I moved to NC, I found reviews of Sam and his service on Yelp, and I filed away Sam's number for future tech disasters. You see, my mother-in-law was never great with technology, and as she ages, technology just gets harder for her. On more than one occasion, she and technology...just don't get along, and everything went FUBAR. Here's where Sam comes to the rescue for both my MIL and me. My MIL can trust that Sam will get her tech up and running, and I, from 3600 miles away, have complete confidence that Sam knows what he's doing and then some. At at the latest tech incident at my MIL's house, Sam went above and beyond the call of duty. The fact that he has great with older folks is a big plus in my book. I know some people might balk at his rate, but you know what, Sam is worth it.

I was seen very quickly, had diagnostics done within 5 minutes, and he suggested alternative solutions while discouraging me from doing unnecessary repairs on my phone as it was in good health, despite that costing him business and income. Can't help but appreciate his honestly since a lot of shops in this same business don't have that quality. Called and expressed concerns for slow battery charging. I inquired about time for diagnostics and the guy on the phone quoted 15-20 minutes. Soon after I came to the shop and the guy saw me within a minute of stepping into the shop and did his diagnostic testing within 5 minutes. He told me that my phone charged well on his chargers and suggested that it might be due to my charging cable. He recommended I order a new one and also offered some in store but wasn't pushy about his stock in particular. I also asked about my battery health of 86% and he said it's in good health and I should hold onto it for a little longer before considering a battery replacement. Super pleased with my experience even though I didn't end up doing any business. I WILL be coming back to this location when I do have issues with my phone.

    I had been experiencing thermal issues with my new i7-14700K build and decided to bring it to HeliX…read morePC after seeing all the positive reviews. Garnik, the owner, exceeded every expectation. I dropped off my PC at 10 AM and he had it completely diagnosed and fixed by 3:30 PM - same day service when most shops would have kept it for days. But what really impressed me was how Garnik actually took the time to explain everything instead of just doing the work and handing it back. He didn't just slap on new thermal paste and call it done. He properly reapplied the paste, then noticed my fan configuration was all wrong and moved everything to the correct CPU pump headers and fan headers. He walked me through exactly what was causing the thermal problems and how he fixed them, then stress tested the whole system right in front of me so I could see it was running properly. Garnik was super knowledgeable, friendly, and got everything done way faster than I expected. It's honestly rare to find someone who knows their stuff this well and actually takes the time to make sure you understand what's going on with your build. If you need PC repair, building, or troubleshooting in the area, definitely check out HeliX PC. Best experience I've had with a PC shop hands down. Will be coming back for sure!

About a week and a half later I finally got all components working only to run into Windows installation issues. I emailed the business at midnight, after long hours of trying to figure out why my SSD wasn't being recognized. I got a response first thing in the morning, I brought it in at 10:30 and he had it done by 4:30 same day, even though he said he wasn't sure he could get it done til the next business day. Also as someone who just has a casual knowledge of all this stuff, I was kind of afraid of being judged for my choices and abilities if I brought it in somewhere, but Garnik was SUPER nice and friendly, and even though my issue ended up being a return fraud SSD situation, he fixed up my wiring, installed windows, and basically got my whole rig into working shape, which was such a relief after struggling for so long. He even gave me an adapter for my old DVI port cintiq monitor. Along with lots of helpful advice. Even though I hope I don't run into issues like this any time soon, I'm a customer for life! (I'll add a photo once I'm satisfied with my RGB color choices haha)
