I have been dealing with this virus that switches my browser to Yahoo. I would get it to stop for a bit then back it popped up. After spending a solid week trying to fix the audio that went out on my 3-year-old Lenovo laptop (IdeaPad Flex 15) with multiple calls to Lenovo, Microsoft, and Geek Squad, the consensus was that this was a hardware issue with the audio chip. Lenovo recommended I take the computer to Geek Squad, and when I did that, they wanted to send it to Kentucky for diagnostics that would cost about $85 and take 2-3 weeks. I declined and decided to find a local repair shop for diagnostics and repairs. After calling five local shops in Pasadena, I phoned Connectionz and spoke with Tony. After I gave him all the facts, he immediately informed me that the audio chip in my Lenovo could not be replaced because it is integrated into the motherboard! He said he had worked on these computers before, and there was no point in me wasting my time and money on trying to replace the audio chip. Instead, Tony suggested simply purchasing an external sound card for the laptop, which would cost me around $30. I was floored! None of the other "experts" I had spoken with had even mentioned this possibility. I suspect that they had been more interested in taking my money to diagnose and troubleshoot my computer issue. So, I thanked Tony for sharing his opinion, and then I called Lenovo to verify that the audio chip was indeed integrated. Lenovo confirmed this. So, I went on Amazon, found a good external audio sound card, ordered it, and installed it the next day when it arrived. As a result, I have all my audio back, and I was able to return to work as usual this morning. For someone like me, who relies on Zoom meetings for her livelihood, getting this audio problem resolved was CRITICAL. Tony made that happen, and he did that by just telling me the truth upfront. He didn't earn a dime from this, but I sure hope that others will read my review and give him their business because he deserves it. There are not a lot of people left in this world who just do the right thing without recompense, but Tony is one such person. That means a lot. I found Tony through other YELP reviews several years ago and contacted him mainly because he was local....and I'm so glad I did. Tony is amazing...he's prompt, professional, has a sense of humor but most of all, he does great work at a very reasonable price. While Tony hasn't been able to salvage everything (like my WD external hard drive that took a crap and lost all my photos and files (I'm a photographer, so that sucked...)), he has been great through and through. Most recently he cleared a super bad virus on one computer, fixed an internal fan in computer #2, and recovered and replaced a crashed internal drive, including all files and programs. I have a Mac, not a PC which is what Tony specializes in. Was at the end of my rope having bought a new Mac. Long story short I found I didn't want it - so "trashed" all the files on the new one to return it to Best Buy (not realizing I was also trashing my Seagate drive). Quickly realized EVERY folder and file on the old one was gone as well. Called Apple 800 number as they are great and they tried and tried, but couldn't help as it seems the files were also deleted in iCloud as well as Seagate. Found Tony in Yelp and because he lives nearby I called. He listened to my convoluted story. Took my old Mac but offered no promises and kept it overnight. I was preparing myself that the files truly were lost and irreplaceable (which included many chapters of a novel), and I just had to deal with it (which was to cry). I picked up the computer this afternoon and to my great surprise, found the screen was exactly the same, in the same folder locations as it was before any of this happened. The Procrastinator's Prayer. Give us this day our daily Internet and forgive us for not backing up our computers. As we forgive bad sectors that trespass against us. And lead us not into putting off burning copies of our files and photos, but deliver us from crashes. Amen. My computer screen went black as I was looking at it. No warning. No hint of any kind. I was told by the tech support call center that there was no hope of retrieving my data. This after he asked me if I was sure I had not accidently turned it off. I was looking for a computer repair shop after my attempts to build a computer failed. I also brought in my laptop to get it looked at after the screen kept dying..... I'm giving 3 stars because I am averaging out my rating between two things: 4 stars for Tony not charging me for looking at my computer. Many places will charge you a fee for just trying to figure out what is wrong, whether or not they can fix it. 2 stars for Tony not really listening to me and not really finding a problem with my computer. I was having issues with my screen/websites coming up in a different color. He told me my problem was with my monitor. I told him I had hooked up my computer to my laptop screen and the same problem occurred so the problem should be in the computer. He told me to go buy another monitor. Well since he said there was nothing wrong with my computer, thus nothing needed to be fixed, he didn't charge me, which I appreciate...but I would've appreciated it more if he would've listened to me and I believe, if he would've taken more time with my computer he would've seen that there was actually a problem with it. I know this because I took my computer to another repair person and he was able to fix it! It was a simple fix, but not simple for a computer dummy like me. So it was nice that someone else listened to me and didn't make me feel like I was crazy! read more

I'm very pleased to write Tony's 25th 5-Star review, although there is little I can add to the great things that 24 other people haven't already said about him. I got great service for a very reasonable price. He accepts cash and checks, works out of his home in a very professional-looking dedicated workshop and makes house calls. I took my PC to him because he's 10 minutes from my home. He opened my PC and gave me the best and worst scenarios based on a quick look. It turned out to be the best (least expensive) scenario. Here's what was special: I took my PC to Tony at 11 a.m. and had it back by 4 p.m. on the eve of a holiday weekend! I came to Tony with a very broken hard-drive, one that Best Buy couldn't fix. He got back to me quickly and said my external needed a "clean room" recovery. My son's aging Dell laptop suffered a severe head crash, and I didn't have a backup image. I'd done a fresh reinstall twice before on this machine, and it's rather labor intensive. Once I learned I couldn't find the image I'd created the second time, I didn't want to go thru it again. So I brought the machine and a replacement drive to Connectionz. It took Tony two tries to restore the laptop to operating condition, but it wasn't his fault (his first restore included windows' default DirectX graphics drivers, which turned out to be incompatible with one of my son's games, and the age of the machine made it hard to find the right drivers). Nonetheless Tony refused to charge me additional labor for the second attempt. Tony's service was prompt, polite, and knowledgeable, and his price was fair. He fixed it and placed and antiviral software within 24-hour- turnaround time. Tony rocks! My Vista desktop was going nuts and crashing with the dreaded BSOD. Called up Tony and he offered to take a look at my system that same day. He ran a series of system stress tests overnight and could not find a problem and suggested that it might be some of the peripherals I have attached to my computer (like my external hard drive) that were causing the problem. Tony is amazing!! I've used his expertise in the past once before with my work computer to retrieve some files... but this time it was serious. I was right in the middle of finals, writing papers like crazy and all of a sudden my computer had this FBI warning or something, finding out that it was some sort of Randsomeware virus after immediately looking it up on my phone. It completely took over my computer at the worst possible time... My papers were due the following morning before noon. I called Tony and he had me bring by my computer immediately. I will often call Tony with questions on how to do "this and that" on my computer, and out of the goodness of his heart, he always knows and tells me how to to do "this and that". My computer came down with a nasty virus the other day, and since I ALWAYS bring my computer to Tony or consult with him over the phone, I gave him a call. He did all he could to help me fix the problem over the phone. However, this virus was NASTY. I had to bring it in. Not only did my computer run EVEN BETTER than it had prior to getting the virus, but he fixed it in less than four hours. I need to update my previous review. The excellent service that Tony has provided has continued. After getting back my laptop and researching the cost of shipping the new machine back to the manufacturer for repairs v. having Tony take care of it locally - the decision was easy. Tony was my choice. Tony installed a new hard drive for me, backed everything up, loaded it back on and it was ready in 48 hours. Much faster than the 6-8 weeks the manufacturer was quoting me. Plus the new hard drive Tony installed had a 3 year warranty v. the 90 day the manufacturer was going to give me on a "new or refurbished" hard drive. We had one little oops with a conflict between the security software Tony installed and my security software. We did not realize it at the time, but with a little digging and problem solving, Tony was able to fix it in 45 minutes. And at no charge. Excellent and quick service. Tony is AMAZING!! I am officially a lifer I originally found Tony for the business I was working for in Pasadena. First I took the desktop to Staples for a diagnosis and they kept it for about 2 days then told me they could fix it for a million dollars (not really but, well you know what I mean) so I decided to do a little research and found Tony.
