Initially went in to Best Buy to inquire about computer repair. Line was ridiculously long with one kid working the Geek Squad section. Tried calling to make an appointment. Put on hold...then got disconnected during a transfer. Googled computer repair. Saw this place had good reviews. Tony was quick to fit in a time for me to come by. The next day my computer was fixed (it was running slow, not installing updates, and Windows media player quit) without having to restore previous settings (in which case I might have lost info). He also told me why my computer started acting the way it was (ooops on having 3 anti-viruses installed at once) And did I mention the cost was 1/2 of what Best Buy advertised for their tune-up and such? I have a laptop that would give me a white screen whenever the angle of the screen was changed. He came to my apartment to look at the problem and pick up the laptop since I don't have a car, but I live close enough in Pasadena. Tony said he hadn't seen this problem before, but he still gave it a try by swapping out the LCD screen with a new one. When that didn't work, he informed me that the next option to try was to special order a cable, but that I would be taking on a financial risk regardless of that option working out. When I wasn't comfortable taking that risk, I asked him to test out the laptop booting up onto an external monitor, allowing me to just use my laptop as a desktop now. He tested that out for me and confirmed it would work, and then delivered my laptop back to me and did not charge me for anything. I highly recommend Tony for his honesty, having my best interest in mind, and for having the ambition to at least tackle a laptop LCD problem he'd never encountered before. I was sick of feeble Wi-Fi signals in the back of my house and have wasted money on a few allegedly-good Wi-Fi repeaters (none of them work well, trust me). So I bought a couple of nice wireless routers, ran an Ethernet cable under my house to hook them up and, voila!, had no idea how to configure them even with the manual and hours of online research. I email Tony, who is the ONLY employee in his company (which is good, cuz he knows his stuff and isn't sending out a pimply-faced hack to mess things up) and he comes out the next day. This is the place to go. Tony is very knowledgeable, and conducts an honest business. I took my thumb drive to him to look at. It contains massive amounts of files that I use for work, and I hadn't backed it up recently. He was able to determine within minutes that the drive had shorted out internally (I was convinced it had another virus). I was bummed that it wasn't possible to recover the data anymore, but felt a lot better when Tony told me that he wasn't going to charge me for his time. Tony was the happy ending to a very long and tortuous saga of a college student left stranded without a personal computer for three months. I had a busted motherboard in my laptop that Dell was unable to fix (which they told me after keeping the computer for about a month). I was afraid of losing a lot of pictures and school work that I had not backed up, but I took the laptop to Tony in a last ditch effort. First he tried to find a replacement motherboard, but when he was unable to find one he was able to recover all of my files and charged a very reasonable $100 for the whole job. He did all of this in about three days and was very professional and so nice! And so the college student and her newly backed-up files lived happily ever after. He did even more than we discussed and yet still charged me the same. Had I really annoying window "Campaign Notifier" that kept opening up in the background on my laptop, and the manufacturer's scan gave me a notice that something was wrong. Took all these problems to Tony at Connectionz, and he made it right! Wasn't easy either, that oddball window removal wasn't an easy fix. (The scan problem revealed hard disk failure and he cloned me a new one no problem.) I'm glad I didn't try to get rid of the "Campaign Notifier". I had read the instructions to remove it that were avail online, and had left it to Tony as I didn't want to spend the time. But good thing I did, as those instructions would not have worked! It was some crazy little thing that my Logitech wireless keyboard installed, to report back to them, not what the online instructions said at all. It turns out it just needed to finish a system restore. 20 minutes after I dropped it off he called and told me to come and pick it up - no charge! Cracked my laptop screen? NO Problem for Tony, from broken to good as new within 3 DAYS! I have the most uncanny ability to break everything computer related. After accidentally murdering the screen on my beautiful 17" laptop gifted to me by my parents...I did panic a little. Come Wednesday morning I called up Tony because I wasn't sure what to do next. I can't thank Tony enough! I was trying to fix a computer problem on my own (I know...stupid, right?) and ended up with the computer trapped in a loop where nothing would ever show up on the screen, even after manual restarts and safe mode. I left it with Tony for one night, and the next day he called to say it was working fine. He stated that he didn't actually do anything except for hook it up to an alternate screen and since that was all it took to somehow do the trick, he said there would be no charge! I am sure (because it's happened before) that if I'd taken it to the geek squad they would have charged $65 for the diagnosis, told me it was unrepairable after a week, and that I should just buy a new computer. Tony was very fast and honest enough to give it back without charge because he felt he hadn't actually fixed anything. That's some of the best service I've ever had, regardless of industry. p.s. What: My laptop, Asus G73, developed frequent auto shut down after less than 18 months of usage. I'm an engineering student and a part time 3D CAD parts designer. So yes, my life is absolutely depended on this big fat laptop that looks and makes a noise like a jet taking off (that's the two useless fans). I was utterly outraged everytime my beloved laptop failed to perform when requested! It got to a point when the laptop could not survive 30 minute without the shutdowns. I decided to prop open and clean the gut of Asus G73 but I had no idea what I was doing. Why Tony is the Best: 1) The Best Customer Serive: At Best Buy and Fry's, its guaranteed wait times are about one hour just to see an incompetent technician's face puzzled by the issue and decide to send the laptop to the other side of the state for TWO WEEKS just to diagnose the problem. Tony took mine, fixed it and I picked it up TWO DAYS later! Done! With Tony, there are no lines. It's just you and your laptop. That's it. He understood my problem and took it right away, fixed it, and the job was done in TWO Days! I could move on with life again! 2) Best Support: Tony gave m his progress via Text Message in Real Time! I mean where else do you get a real time progress reports right to your phone? Nevermind that you'll need to listen to the long voicemails before you talk to a human with the other big retailers, but not with Tony. You deal with Tony and Tony only. 3) He knows his stuff! He gave me his game plan rightaway and he knew my computer inside and out. A work that is so critical that involves working right on top of the critical compoenets like CPU and GPUs, a competent techinican is a must and shouldn't be an option. The Verdict: It was Fast, Reliable and upfront. If things cannot be done, he will tell you upfront right away, he doesn't over sell you. He's an honest man, rare quality nowadays. I realized I already reviewed Connectionz but I just had Tony do a major data transfer from my old laptop to my new one, and it was awesome. I'm not exactly an egghead so I have no idea how to do such at thing. Not only did Tony transfer all of my files, he also made it so that my "Sent" items and all my inbox folders on Outlook were transferred to my new computer (no idea how to do this!). My iTunes, photos, etc. were all miraculously transferred to my new computer. Tony does excellent work at VERY reasonable prices. I had him upgrade OS on 2 computers from clean install. While working on the netbook he tuned the performance. He helped me troubleshoot network problem and recommended upgraded router/modem. I had paid 2 cablers and networker and did not get the results and stability I needed until I followed his recommendations and had him come install and tune the network. In addition, he made some recommendations for auto back-ups which I am now having him install for me. This is a great resource. read more

I was frustrated with another computer repair shop in La Crescenta (Daily Computing Solutions, Inc.) when i decided to take my computer to Connectionz Computer Repair instead. I feel so lucky to have found them! They replaced my damaged hard drive, cloned my data, and had the computer looking like new in 48 hours AND for $150 less than the other computer shop (which couldn't even guarantee the problem would be fixed). The longer version: I've worked professionally with computers for about a decade and a half in two countries and two states. But as pleased I had been with the best of the best in the past, Connectionz Computer Repair (more specifically, Tony) has completely exceeded my expectations ever since I moved here in 2007. Never before have I encountered a computer tech. that balanced such technical competence with great social skills and incredible customer service. I send friends that would normally need a "middle-man" or "translator" straight to him without any reservations and they always cmoe back with a smile on their faces. It's difficult to describe just how rare that is. His turnaround times are immaculate, his rates are reasonable and I've often been surprised by his "putting the customer first" ethic and integrity.
