I've been bringing my periodic computer problems to Henry & his staff for 10 years or more. They are knowledgeable, always helpful, take the time to explain things, and I've always found them to be very fair on pricing -- and often willing to go above & beyond to provide extra services at no extra price. If you happen to go there when a couple of people are ahead of you, just be patient. They give each customer the same top quality personal service that they will give you when it's your turn! (that's what I remind myself, anyway). read more

After many years providing PC support starting with DOS and ancient IBM PCs, the pandemic wiped out my technical memory. We found Thomas in our neighborhood, and he's saved me much time and money by fixing my home computer twice and now has sold me a refurbished but very functional "used" one for my 2nd office. Excellent diagnosis. He offered a good set of cost effective solutions and only took a couple of hours to fix problems AND copy data to the new hard drive. Highly recommended! read more

Tomas set me up with some affordable solutions for my troublesome laptop. I was in and out in less than half an hour. Very friendly and resourceful. read more

I'm not very technical. Mostly use my laptop to play games, look at the social media apps. When I couldn't get my laptop to start after a frustrating morning of trying everything, I took it to Starbase Net Computer. Tomas took one look at the screenshot I took on my phone and knew immediately what was going on. It took him less than 5 minutes to fix. He was kind enough to say it is a common problem with Windows 11 so I didn't feel like a complete idiot/senior citizen. I'm definitely going to come back with future issues (I know I'll have them). read more

Amazing experience needed some help called in and was helped out over the course of a week, amazing service.

I had some issues with my motherboard and Thomas was able to help me sort it out. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Henry is a rockstar! He is excellent at his work and got my computer back in the same day. He used to be an engineer so he really knows what he's doing! read more

Henry is a very, very knowledgeable IT professional! He has fixed my laptops and desktops on several occasions. He recently helped me with an arcade game computer from another century ( Artic Thunder ) and repaired it! I highly recommend Starbase Computers to anyone. read more

I've been too this location twice now and the owner(Henry) is super nice and knowledgeable. I build all my own computers but had a major crash I was not able to fix.and Henry fixed the problem in about 1 hour while I waited and even went the extra mile and fixed other issues that I had as well. I highly recommend going here. read more

I am not very technical regarding laptop computers and found myself with a 3 year old MSI computer that had not been used since the purchase. The battery would not charge and I tried to fix by installing a new battery. It would still not function after the replacement so I found Starbase Net Computer online. They were close to my home and took in for a repair. The owner Henry was extremely helpful and after 2 days had resolved the problem with another new battery and inverter transistor. Problem solved as well as installing Chrome , adobe and added current MS updates (which were not charged ) Very prompt service, would use again, and recommend for any type of computer issues. Easy parking, great experience. read more

Appreciate the amazing customer service! Had been struggling with PC Blue Screen of Death problems for over a week and knew that I needed an expert. Fortunately enough I found one at this shop that I can rely on, since he saved my desktop PC once before already. He was even flexible enough to allow me to pick up my fixed PC after hours because I get off work around the time he closes. Just a side tip: it helps expedite things if you can explain what problems you are facing and what you have already done to try to fix it. No need for technical jargon since this guy will explain it to you in plain English. Would definitely recommend his service! read more

Timely, responsive, competitive. I'm not great with computers. Henry took his time explaining everything I needed to know and did exactly what he said he would without delay. Didn't believe I could trust PC repair considering I don't understand much about it but Starbase made me confident as long as I'm local this is the only place I will trust with my PC. Thank You read more

I rarely write reviews but I felt like I had to write one since Henry provided me with great service. I came to this shop because I accidently bent my CPU pins and I was too scared to try to straighten the pins myself. Henry did warn me that there was a chance the pins could snap/potentially break and I was okay with him trying to fix it anyway since the CPU was expensive. He fixed the bent pins and the cpu was working perfectly fine afterwards when we put it back into the motherboard. I would recommend his services to people to not only software/data problems but also for people looking to fix hardware technical issues (like my bent cpu pins). read more

I was extremely satisfied with Henry at Starbase. I had received 3 excellent reviews from friends and therefore I went there with very high expectations. Now I see why they recommended it! Within 5 minutes, the problem was identified, I needed a new hard drive. I had researched the cost in advance and Henry was a few dollars less and he upgraded me to a 1T drive for 4 dollars more. This was on a Saturday and Monday being a national holiday, I received the computer back on Tuesday AND it was all cleaned and shining! And Henry had copied my important files to the new hard drive already. Cannot beat that! Sherry read more

Henry was so knowledgeable and helpful in rescuing my computer in need of repair. He was extremely friendly and patient being im not computer savvy . After Microsoft's latest update, my computer was seriously damaged. Thank you Microsoft. Fortunately, Henry at Starbase Net came to the rescue. With infinite patience my computer, applications and important files and data base were restored. As a plus, he fixed a longstanding hardware issue related to the power switch. The price for all of this was extremely reasonable. I've had my computer serviced at a big box store previously. Total incompetence. I am never going anywhere else again. read more

I have been taking my desktop computers to Starbase in South Pasadena since 2015 for both repairs and upgrades. Over the years I have been to many computer repair shops and Starbase is by far the best experience I've had, and consistently so for over a decade. This past week, I took a new desktop in for some upgrades and due to the small case enclosure, and a sub-standard motherboard, ran into some issues with installing the hardware I wanted. Henry was so helpful, informative and was great about communication. Now my computer is a powerhouse for the music applications I use. The work was done more quickly and for less money than I anticipated. I also want to mention the warmth and friendliness at Starbase. Each time I've been there (and especially this most recent visit), I was struck by Henry's conscientiousness, friendliness, and integrity. Highest recommendation, and thank you again Henry! read more

Henry is a life-saver! Whenever we have needed service on our computers (Mac desktop, laptop), Henry has come through. He is honest, easy to reach and communicate with, and is amazing at diagnosing and fixing computers to get the, running again as good as new! Thanks, as always, Henry! read more

I spent $500 on a new screen for my lap top. It broke again after just 8 months. Henry said "sorry, there's nothing I can do." Terrible business ethic not to stand by your work or your customers. Messy shop and poor workmanship and business practices. I would never go here. read more

It's so lovely to have a great computer repair shop near my house. Very convenient and the owner is very honest and helpful. It's rare to find people like this in LA County. Highly recommend this spot. read more

Henry is knowledgeable, professional, careful, and fixed my computer which had suffered terrible water damage. He recovered all data, I did not lose a thing. He replaced my affected circuit and I am able to continue using my mac air. Thank you, Henry! read more

Henry appeared very eager to help when I was dropping of my computer but when it came to fixing it, he wasn't quite as enthusiastic. He fixed one issue but damaged another in the process and then wanted me to pay him more money to have it fixed as well. He is overpriced, and seemed to be more interested in getting as much money out of me as possible rather being of help. While waiting to pick up my computer I witnessed another customer complaining of the similar issue I had, Henry not fixing fully the computer she gave him and then asking her to pay more to finish the job. Next time I have computer problems, I'm going to look for someone else who cares more about their job. read more

Dude, awesome place. Brought in my old college desktop to see if I could get some data recovered. Haven't touched it since it crashed like 4 years ago. Thought I would try to get my old notes, pictures and essays off of it for keepsakes. I came around 1ish in the afternoon. Got a call back the same day telling me that it was ready for pickup. The tech, Henry, ran through what he did, had me check out the files and we closed the deal at 50 bucks! He even found the problem and fixed it. Good stuff, AND I have a really old functioning computer to boot (pun unintended) I only give it 4 stars because I felt rushed. They did look busy though. Computers EVERYWHERE. read more

Dropped off my computer three days ago to have a harddrive cloned and installed. This is something I can do but didn't have time. Was supposed to take one afternoon. To their credit, they had some issue and had to start I over. Not sure if the problem was due to them or my machine. Now three days later my laptop is done and I have been standing outside their store for 45 minutes waiting for them to open. Supposed to open at 9:30. 10:15 and no sign of life. Epilogue: Picked up my computer only to find my screen is now cracked and before I could even bring it to their attention, my logic board went out. Related??? Don't know. Took it to Apple Store where $300. later I basically have a new computer screen is still damaged from those Starbase idiots though. read more

After dealing with my slow running laptop for months, I decided to have it looked at. Took it to Starbase, it was diagnosed within minutes and I was able to pick it up within a matter of hours. Now it runs AWESOME! Very happy with the service I got at Starbase. read more

This place is garbage... Brought my laptop in cause I had a virus, ended up getting me to agree to upgrade the OS and all wanted them to do initially was to reformat. But what they forgot to tell me was that none of my drivers would work anymore because I had a Sony Vaio and they don't get support anymore because theyre discontinued.. The cherry on top was when I picked up my laptop after they upgraded the OS, the battery was blown and had swelled so much that the screws to the battery lid was popping out.. I told them to replace it and Henry gave me a hard time about it but finally gave in... I wish I never went there... Now my 3k laptop has a 15 min battery life on a full charge and none of my drivers work because they failed to tell me the full details of what would happen to my laptop if I upgraded the OS fully knowing that the Vaio is discontinued.. I feel like I actually paid them for a downgrade.... read more

Starbase computers is the place to go for quality, friendly service. My laptop fan started acting up. I brought it to Henry. He diagnosed the problem, located it in the controller and not the fan itself, ordered a new controller for me, texted me when it arrived (it took about a week), and installed it for me on the spot when I went to the shop. My audio had gone out on my computer some months prior, and though I went to Starbase because of my fan problem, when he installed the new controller, the audio came back, too. I am very pleased with my experience. I am thankful there is a place like Starbase in South Pas. The pricing is high, but so is the quality of service. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for honest, careful, effective work on their computers and who is willing to pay for it. read more

A man came to my house to set up new printer and sync it to my wi fi and new mac book air laptop. Could not set up as wireless even though the printer had this capability - was only able to set so I have to use cable from laptop to printer. We've been using Starbase for every type of computer maintenance and repair since forever. Nice, competent folks who have serviced everything from gaming computers to laptops. Recently we had a Macbook badly damaged from a spilled cup of coffee. They resurrected it, recovered the data and now working as good, or better, then new. Happy to deal with them in the future...I always feel comfortable leaving stuff with them to be fixed. read more

Family owned and operated and top notch with very reasonable price. I will never go anywhere else!

Made the mistake of giving Henry & co a second chance. Starbase gets downgraded to two stars from three. (Honestly it should probably be one.) Communication is just terrible all the way around. I honestly can't tell if it's maliciousness or cluelessness. They both genuinely seem sweet, but they also seem competent. I find it hard to reconcile those things. read more

He is always patient, knowledgeable, accommodating, and competent. I cannot asks for a better computer technician.

I have come here three times in the last two years for various issues with my laptop. Once to replace corrupted memory, once to repair my charging jack, and most recently to check to see if there was any corrosion after I spilt water on my laptop. Each time Henry has helped me and been wonderful. His prices seem fair and he walks you through the issue. This last time I had to leave my laptop and he would text me pictures while he was repairing it to keep me informed. I do not hope that I will need more computer repairs in the future but if I do I will bring them to Henry's helpful hands. read more

Henry did a great job with a laptop that I spilled water on. Friendly and honest. He comes highly recommended.

I came to Starbase to fix my computer but it was the worst experience in my life, first off they were really expensive and they don't know what they're doing, also they left it worst than how it was, they just overcharged me and they have a really bad attitude. when I tried to have them check my computer they didn't want to even bother to check it for warranty so I would definitely never come back. Next time I would rather go to bestbuy or Apple store to get a better service. read more
