I went to several places and was told that the port couldn't be fixed. I had a 50% chance of data recovery and was quoted $300-$800 to attempt to recover my data. Had my laptop battery replaced today, and I'm very satisfied. I called in to check the availability, brought my laptop in and got it done within an hour. My case: I had my own new battery for the laptop. The only thing that concerned me was that one of my screw is completely stripped/ damaged. No matter how I tried, I couldn't take it out. I called another place talking abt my case, and they said they could try to help me out, but they might break the cover, and it would cost about $300 (labor included) to replace the battery & the new cover. I was very concerned, but I'm glad I called this place. Jeff told me upfront that it would be $45 for battery replacement. After taking a look of my laptop & the broken screw, he decided to give it a shot, and charged me $10 more for it. It was ready within 1 hour. I can't be happier. I headed down to frys Electronics for an estimate and they don't work on Macs. Then I went to Geek Squad and wanted $150 just for an ESTIMATE!!! I headed down to JC computers because I worked with their phone repair service called IMach. Jeff figured out the problem with my MacBook Pro instantly. The guy there was very nice, he heard me out as to what I was initially trying to do and then what I did that made it worse.
