Vess diagnosed the issue on the spot (he must have seen a lot of similar problems) and fixed it in less than a day. The price was reasonable and he also recommended cleaning the inside as it accumulated dust (see photo), which explained the overheating issues I had to deal with frequently with the laptop. The cost of repair was reasonable and he also offered several pieces of advice to prevent similar issues in the future. I am very happy with the service and would recommend working with them for any Mac laptop repair.

Choose these folks for your data recovery needs! I had two WD (called Western Digital when they…read moredrives were made) HDDs that I needed data from. I was unable to recover data from them in different ways. Disc one was an external drive that would not power on. I tried removing it from its external enclosure and powering it from another, more different enclosure to no avail. The system was indeed down. Disc two was an internal drive that used to be my C drive- my boot drive. I removed it from an old computer after it stopped booting and put it into an external enclosure. Several different computers (Mac & PC) would recognize it sporadically, though none could access the data on it- error codes always came up. Before I removed it, from the old computer, I tried booting from an optical disc and other assorted methods, many other assorted methods... I believe I was very thorough in my efforts. I sent both in and received near 100% recovery. They said it was 100% from one and 99.9% from the other but I am unable to find that .1%. I got all of this for just barely above the $300 price in their name (each, not total). So for about $600 total (including new discs on which my recovered data was transferred and return shipping) I got this incredible service. The total price I paid for both discs at 300DDR is less than I was quoted at several other places for one disc. At each step they were great communicators, from their receipt of the discs to my receipt of the recovered data. I hope I never need their services again but should, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend them.

All I could find were positive reviews, which actually made me a little nervous because most companies have at least some negative feedback. I still wasn't sure if they were legitimate, and I was worried about whether my drive would arrive safely or if they would actually be able to recover my data. Before contacting 300DDR, I took my drive to a local computer repair shop. They had it for more than a week, and every time I followed up, I was told they would call me back. After several days, they finally contacted me, likely because I kept checking in, and unfortunately told me they could not recover the data. I then contacted another data recovery company, but they quoted me between $500 and $2,000 and would also charge an $85 diagnostic fee. I was really concerned about spending that much money without knowing whether they could recover anything. One thing I appreciated about 300DDR was that they do not charge a diagnostic fee, which gave me much more confidence in giving them a try. After doing more research, watching additional videos, and reading Reddit discussions, I still found overwhelmingly positive feedback about 300DDR. So, I decided to send them my drive. Once they received it, the process was impressive. They notified me immediately that my drive had arrived, and within 24 hours they had already evaluated it. They informed me that they could recover 74.46% of the data and explained that a head swap could potentially recover more. What I appreciated most was that any additional fee was only for the replacement parts and materials, not for labor. They also provided me with a link showing a detailed list of the files, photos, and videos they were able to recover, allowing me to make an informed decision before moving forward. Since most of my important files were included, I chose to proceed with the 74.46% recovery. Throughout the entire process, their communication was excellent. They kept me updated every step of the way and were professional, transparent, and honest about my options. Their pricing was also far more reasonable than the other companies I contacted. I can honestly say that all of the positive reviews I read were accurate. 300DDR exceeded my expectations, and I am incredibly grateful for everything they did. My hard drive contained priceless memories dating back to 2013, including videos of my children, wedding memories, family photos, and other important files. I had almost given up hope of ever seeing them again. No words can truly express how thankful I am to the entire team at 300DDR for helping me recover data that I thought was lost forever. The damage I did to the drive required Five Star's clean-room service, and they quoted a flat rate to me in advance. The effort of recovering the data ended up being very challenging and took longer than any of us expected, but at the end Five Star was able to recover over 99% of the files--and I'm happy to say, the 1% of files were not important to me, so the 99% they recovered covered everything I needed. Despite that significant extra work, they invoiced me only for the original quoted amount. I'm happy with the results but also the professionalism. When I first reached out to Five Star, they got back to me at the start of the next business day and, after answering a few follow-up questions, I had a quote and scheduled to drop off my drive the same day. Computer City Repairs is like finding a diamond in the middle of a haystack. I'm a high school English teacher whose student (on the Friday before a week off for Thanksgiving) accidently knocked my laptop off my desk. I didn't realize then, but I was in danger of losing all of my files; my laptop, contained everything I needed for school and more. Still unaware of the extent of the damage, I went to Best Buy the following day, only to find out that it would take a month for a technician even to get to my laptop; however, one of the technicians kindly gave me a reference to Kevin Adhami (System Analyst) of Computer City Repairs. When I met Kevin he explained that I may have lost all my files due to a crack in the hardrive, but he nevertheless worked tirelessly on my behalf to recover what he could. Thankfully, he recovered mostly everything. He was also truly patient with my emotional distress, and he probably saved me from serious disciplinary action (as my grade book was one of my files that needed to be recovered). Equally important, Kevin's expertise was completely affordable and I have learned that many people--especially from the UCLA community--have used word of mouth to recommend Kevin. Kevin also has a certain type of integrity that makes him feel rewarded for helping people in need. Technology is a great tool, but when there is a significant technical problem, it's a problem that requires Kevin's expertise. I have observed Kevin in telling customers the truth about their computers (some can easily be fixed, some cannot); I have also noticed that Kevin is very prompt in attending to orders (often same day service) and he will never charge you more than you should be charged. In short, I give Kevin Adhami and Computer City Repairs my highest possible recommendation, and I urge you to go to Kevin at Computer City Repairs should you ever need technology assistance (even beyond computer repair), however great or small the problem may be. read more

My entire life is on my laptop, so naturally I was incredibly hesitant to hand it over to anyone. A friend recommended Computer City Repairs, and after reading all of their outstanding reviews, I decided to stop by and talk to them. From the moment I walked in, I knew I had found the right place. I needed to upgrade the storage on my laptop because I wanted to keep my existing computer instead of buying a new one. I also needed a new battery and a few other repairs. Not only did they take care of everything for an incredibly fair price, but they went above and beyond. They returned my laptop in even better condition than when I brought it in. What impressed me the most was how knowledgeable, experienced, and honest they were. I even asked about replacing my touchscreen, and instead of trying to sell me an expensive repair, they told me it wasn't worth the cost and that I didn't actually need to do it. That kind of honesty is hard to find these days. Their turnaround time was unbelievable. I honestly don't know how they got everything done so quickly. Throughout the entire process, I never felt worried because I knew my computer was in good hands. They genuinely understand that your computer isn't just another device. It's where your work, memories, and life are stored, and they treat it with that level of care. The best way I can describe the experience is that it feels like you're taking your computer to a trusted family member who truly wants to help you, not just make a sale. They go out of their way to make sure every customer is happy, and it shows. There is a reason this place has so many outstanding reviews. They have absolutely earned them. I have used this company several times now and they are the BEST! They're prices are more than reasonable and they have bent over backwards to get me back on line with my aging equipment. (I was referring to my computers). Kevin has been so kind to me and is considerate of my financial straights. He has been a life saver. I found the store on Westwood Blvd. purely by accident. I live nearby and wandered in. I have wandered in intentionally many times since. I cannot say enough about Kevin's kindness to me and his computer expertise. GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS!! They are honest. You can trust there diagnosis. Kevin even talked me out of buying a refurbished or new low end machine, in favor of repairing my 2009 Dell. The repairs were cheaper and he pointed out that he used the same model and it would be best in the long run. My three year old desktop hard drive died on May 20. I was in a panic because I didn't have my data backed up, so I went to Yelp to see if there was a place near my house who could help me. I read the consistently positive reviews for Computer City Repairs and decided to give it a try. When I got there, Kevin realized I was distraught so he immediately plugged in my desktop and began data retrieval. I can't believe how fast it all went. In less than an hour he was able to save the content of my ENTIRE hard drive. I didn't lose a single file! Now that is what I call great service. I left the computer overnight so he could install a new hard drive and I picked up the next morning. I couldn't be more pleased. They also upgraded my Windows software from 8 to 10, which was a bonus. All around excellent service, professional, courteous, and empathetic. This last word, empathetic, is important. I can't recommend this computer repair shop highly enough and its owner Kevin. My computer was completely dead, and after taking it to multiple other places that couldn't fix it , I was honestly ready to give up and replace it. Thankfully, I found this shop, and it made all the difference. Not only did he diagnose the issue quickly, but he went above and beyond to bring my computer back to life. I was searching for a place to repair my macbook air. The drive had died and although I have opened up other macs before, I didn't feel too confident with the air's small form factor. I wanted to find someone who has had experience with them and I called several places; out of all of them, Kevin Koorosh seemed the most personable and made me feel at ease. He was honest and suggested that if I wanted to save some money, I could see if I could find the replacement drive online, and bring it in with the computer to install. After talking with Dell and several customer builders I had the good fortune to come across Zen's reviews on Yelp. I told him that I needed a fast machine for the type of work I do and, working with that vague direction, he built an amazing dream machine at a very reasonable price. I'm not really a hardware person. Fortunately, Zen clearly explained the advantages and disadvantages of different component options and configurations at each step in the process. The result was better than I could have imagined and the machine has worked flawlessly since the day it was delivered. My experience with Kevin is not only the best tech-related service I've ever received - it is probably the best service experience I've had period. After taking my phone to the Apple store and not resolving the issue with my iPhone X, a technician at Sprint recommended Kevin's service. In his free diagnostic, Kevin correctly identified a software bug and immediately offered to call a colleague with expertise in software and data recovery. That colleague was able to completely restore my phone to working order while also saving all my data, all for a very reasonable price. Here's a great place. My Hard Drive went out on my i Mac. I called two places, one with a three day wait the other with a four day waiting list. I next tried the people who installed my system and they wanted $800 for the repair. Then I came upon Computer City with a 5 star rating. I immediately knew this was the right place. Koorosh knew what the problem was right away and I liked his personality. I brought my Mac in and the hard drive was replaced with a faster one and they added more memorry for free. They even installed Microsoft Office 2011 for no additional charge. The entire repair took only three hours and the charge was a very reasonable $175. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend Computer City Repairs. read more

This is the first Yelp review I've ever written, which should attest to how good these guys are. They've repaired a crashed drive in a laptop, installed some new parts in an old workstation I needed to keep alive, but really came through today. I needed a workstation that could run Windows XP and NTBackup in order to hook up an old tape drive and restore files from tape for a client. A workstation I already had just couldn't install XP no matter what we did. They had a used workstation on hand, installed XP and current drivers, installed NTBackup, and it worked! They even helped diagnose a problem over the phone. Kevin and his team simply won't give up when there is a problem. They are great, and fair in price. I strongly recommend them. read more

Jason, one of the partners, replaced my laptop's hard drive and fan for $195 (parts & labor). Who else would do that? I brought my laptop in on a Tuesday and it was ready for pick up by Friday! When I returned to picked it up, Jason spent a lot of time uninstalling a damaged app (junk) which I couldn't remove myself. These guys are honest, reliable, reasonably priced, and fast. Plus, they're open 7 days a week (until 7PM on weekdays). What more could you ask for? The only negative I can think of is that they only have one parking space behind the building in the back (but there's metered parking on Westwood Blvd, if you're lucky enough to find an open space). My iPhone Microsoft Exchange email account experienced a very unusual problem and I lost all access. Although I'm "computer literate" and almost never need help, I spent hours with the problem and couldn't solve it. Kevin and his crew spent several hours with it and didn't quit until it was solved. They proposed a very modest charge. I paid double what they asked -- and it was still a modest amount for what they accomplished. Resolving my issue was important. But the manner in which they performed their services is more important than being able to resolve just my one particular problem, and evidences an even higher recommendation of them. read more

The computer technicians in our firm were migrating data to a new controller when a major catastrophe occurred and they blew it up instead. All of our files, critical data and cases are held on the server. Secure Data Recovery Services stepped in and achieved great success in doing a RAID 0+1 Data Recovery. To my utter amazement, they located 95% of everything and recovered far more than expected. A very trustworthy place, hence the brother reference above. I was told that they'd look at my dead computer and give a cost of repair prior to doing the work. When it turned out to be a bad motherboard, they recommended against the high cost of replacing the guts and instead just back of files. I was really pleasantly surprised with this recommendation. I really felt like these guys cared almost like family. I was expecting to get my computer fixed for a high cost, and that was that. But, I really appreciated the honesty here and would openly send all my friends and family here without reservations. read more

Kevin (owner) is AMAZING (has TAUGHT Geek Squad techs)-I have gone to him for at least 10 years I think, he rist rescued my data off a computer I dropped on an airport tile floor(!) which would NOT turn on; rescued data from a computer HP BROKE (truly). His fees are very reasonable as well. I referred a friend whose network had gone out (person at local public radio station) and he had tried the issuing company and sev other places--Kevin to the rescue. Even if you find some place that is "cheaper", the PERSONAL service here combined with EXPERT diagnosis and repair is DEFINITELY worth it. read more

I've NEVER left a review for anyone, but I had to with Computer City Repairs and Kevin! My 93 yr old mom had an older Dell that was SO slow and kept getting McAfee prompts that wouldn't go away! I took the computer to Kevin and it now works like it's brand new! We were thinking we'd have to buy her a new computer but it works fast and it's like when she first bought it. The hard drive was failing and an IT tech recommended having it "imaged," which would result in an exact duplicate that would not require any software reauthentication. He also recommended Tech Care as the folks to do it. They initially tried doing an automatic imaging, which didn't take, so they attempted to manually image it and were successful. The computer now has a more reliable SSD drive (no moving parts) and it indeed works exactly as it used to (only faster). Eddie informed me that the old drive had maybe one month left before it completely failed. LIFE SAVERS!!! Eddie, Abed, Josh and everyone else I spoke to are top-notch guys, and the price to repair was eminently reasonable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
