The sushi was super spicy and the presentation was fun. The interior is casual with Asian decor items like lanterns. The service was prompt. The location is prime and in the middle of the Old Town area. The bad: The chicken was tough and seemed microwaved. It lacked grill flavor and the rice also seemed old. The vegetables weren't tender and also were lackluster in flavor. Food was all served in to-go containers even though we dined in. My family and I came here to celebrate a birthday. When initially researching, I was prompted to make a reservation, which I did. This definitely gave me the expectations that is a busy establishment. When we arrived it was a ghost town. We were seated immediately and they wanted to take our order right away. I said we needed more time since it was our first time and then returned literally a minute later (barely enough time for our family to even look over the drinks/apps). Our bill was over $150, and boy did I feel robbed. Not only was the quality sub par (for example my daughters salmon carpaccio looked like it was sliced a week ago), but everything was served on cheap plasticware and paper bowls that French fries usually are served on. In my opinion, for this price point regular plates and nice chopsticks should be the bare minimum. We probably won't return, but hopefully they make some changes for future customers! read more

Inside was clean, and we were greeted upon entry. It was pretty empty, so we had our choice of seating. We had the bang bang popcorn lobster, Mona Lisa Roll, and cheesy Jalapeños. The rice on the Mona Lisa Roll didn't look or taste like sushi rice, but the roll was good. I am not a Tempura fan, so I was sad when the 2 appetizers came covered in it. The description on the menu did not mention tempura for either the Jalapeños or lobster. The appetizers both came in cheap paper boats, and we received plastic forks that snapped when used. The sushi roll came on a plastic tray. I'd highly suggest getting actual plates and silverware to use. This was my biggest peeve here. It's still their soft opening so we were given a limited menu, but it was still filled with my faves! Their signature is their tonkatsu ramen and sushi. Their bowl was filled generously with three large pieces of tonkatsu-perfectly flavored, btw! The egg was just a hair over cooked, but I'll overlook it since it's their soft opening. It's like the gymnastics landing-gotta stick it to make it a perfect 10! Flavor of the broth made up for it however. Bluefin tuna was equally generous and soooooo good! I had to get another.. just melt in your mouth goodness! The sweet ending was a not too sweet matcha ice cream ball with crunchy warm sesame balls. We asked for some time to look at the menu and he just stood there awkwardly. Very weird. We decided on Tonkatsu and a sushi roll. Neither were great, but not the worst we've had. Went here because me and my boyfriend saw that it's new and we are suckers for sushi and ramen so this spot was perfect. It is a really small restaurant so keep that in mind. Upon arrival we got to sit ourselves. The sushi came out first and it was truly delicious I really like their white rice. My miso soup was very big and I couldn't finish it l but it can eject my deal so I was happy. I got a combo and chose teriyaki chicken as the protein. Everything was unbelievably good the only thing Is I wish the teriyaki chicken had more teriyaki sauce but I am a sauce person so. My boyfriends ramen was incredibly good with endless flavor. Everything about the new Soho Ramen is wonderful! (If you don't know, they have another location close by the Promenade Mall, in case you're on that side of town and need to satisfy your ramen & sushi cravings! ) The atmosphere of this place is great! The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and the food is DELICIOUS! For drinks, we ordered iced green teas. For appetizers, we ordered spicy garlic edamame, which is our ABSOLUTE favorite. You won't be disappointed! We also ordered a dragon roll, a hibachi plate with shrimp & beef and a side of fries for our kids - all of which were very tasty! To top off everything, we ordered a scoop of green tea ice cream, which was one of the best green tea ice creams we've had.
