Amazing little Japanese spot in across from the Temecula Promenade. We had a few mins to wait when we got there, so we had an opportunity to look at the menu. We ordered food and water as soon as we sat down and had ramen on the table within 5 mins even though it was a busy Friday night. The food was amazing. The broths we tried both had a ton of flavor and the pork belly was awesome. The sushi roll was nice and spicy and tasted super fresh. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. Came here because of the recommended reviews but didn't feel like it lived up to the hype. Imo, it wasn't that great, but rather just ok. What stood out negatively was the portion size, the tempura shrimp option only comes with 3 pieces. Didn't think that was the accurate ratio since there isn't any other protein in this ramen. Although i only gave it 4 stars, this is the only sushi place we go to in Temecula. Spoiled by san diego selection, it's hard to find one worth returning to. Both my wife and I love Japanese, but neither of us are big "raw fish" fans and i know that is what most people rate their sushi on...I love sushi, but don't like either surimi or raw fish. I like eel, avocado, salmon skin, or cooked fish, but love all the other japanese dishes. This place gets 5 STARS for their salmon skin rolls. The best i have had anywhere and at very reasonable prices. I think its $6 on lunch special and $7 regular price. They are always crunchy and they come with teriyaki sauce (but you can order without if you don't like the teriyaki). We usually get Katsu curry, their udon, and salmon skin. I would give it 4.5 stars, but yelp only allows 4 or 5 not 4.5...i think that is a mistake by yelp...Anyway, it is the only sushi place i go to in temecula. The other places are overpriced in my opinion...especially since you can get great salmon skin rolls here for only $6. Their sapporo is also a buck or 2 cheaper than anywhere else... read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by this spot. For a rainy day I had my heart set on ramen and decided to give this spot a try when we happened to be driving by. They had plenty of seating so we only waiting a couple minutes while a table was cleaned. They had a great selection of ramen, sushi, and some hibachi options. The ramen came out so fast I was in shock. It was hot and so full of flavor. Sushi took a while to get but it was fresh and they were definitely busy. Staff was all so kind and checked on us to make sure we got everything needed while we waited for our roll. I placed an order through a delivery service while visiting the area for a work trip. After a very long day of work this bowl of warm goodness was exactly what I needed. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with an extra egg and an extra side of broth and I'm so glad I did. The portion was perfect for me because I was able to enjoy a full dinner that evening and then a full other meal the following evening with the additional side of broth. The broth was so rich, creamy and flavorful! I always say that ramen is only as good as the broth and this broth was top notch! My only complaint at all is that I would've loved a bit more of the black mushrooms and the seasoned egg was a slightly over cooked in my opinion, but that could've been due to the travel time from ordering delivery. If I am ever in the area again for work or travel I will 100% be revisiting this place and hope to even go in person. Excellent ramen!! read more

I can't win in Temecula. This was officially by far one of the worst experiences that I've ever had while living in Temecula. Nothing at this place had any flavor whatsoever. Lacking salt completely. At some point I had forgotten that this was a Japanese restaurant, and treated it as just some place that served really odd food. I've been to Japan 5 times in the last decade, and the sushi/sashimi that is served at this establishment is pretty much pure garbage. Its taste is extremely watered down. Japanese people would be appalled that this location is actually claiming to serve authentic Japan cuisine. And that so called ramen. Yikes. Have they ever heard of Ichiran Ramen in Tokyo. Americans really think they can compete with that excellence. Never going to happen. Not in my book. Everything also was extremely cold. After just a few bites we were finished. This place is middling for me. The restaurant itself is fine, it's at the end of a strip mall on the outskirts of Promenade Mall. The table we sat at wasn't level, but it didn't wobble at least. We ordered: Garlic Edamame & Pork Belly Bao Bun to start. The sauce on the edamame was thick and sweet, while the garlic was in big chunks. One of the Bao buns was broken, it broke the way a store bought crunchy shell taco would when you try opening it, so I'm thinking it was reheated-- the pork itself had zero bite, but didn't really melt in your mouth either, I ended up with a squishy rubbery skin piece that I had to spit out or swallow whole. And the sauce that was on top was cloyingly sweet rather than a specific flavor, just sweet. For mains we got Tonkatsu ramen, seafood ramen, chicken katsu bento box, CA roll, salmon carpaccio and house salad. Seafood Ramen was great except for the egg that came as a whole hard boiled egg and cold in the middle rather than a lovely sliced jammy egg. Salmon Carpaccio was laid in a watery sauce that made it very clear how unlevel the table was, but did leave a nice pool on one end to dip the carpaccio. Chicken Katsu was tough and the breading was falling off and crumbling, so basically had chicken with breading crumbles. The gyoza that came with it appeared baked... it was dry so we thought it was fried, but the dough was strangely crunchy instead, like it was baked. The rest of the bento was fine, rice was well cooked. Couldn't eat the salad cuz it was the same dressing as the house salad. The house salad dressing was spicy. I couldn't eat it at all while the spice lover of the party took that on for the rest of us. The tonkatsu broth was tasty, but same thing with the pork belly as on the Bao, and the egg was again offered whole, not sliced, and was hard boiled and cold in the middle, not jammy. The CA roll was too sweet somehow... I know crab, even imitation crab, offers a subtle sweetness but this wasn't pleasant. The staff and service were wonderful, very attentive staff all around, cannot find fault there at all. read more

If you are strolling down the boardwalk at Old Town Temecula and looking for something beyond the traditional bar or pub food, this is a very good option. Their Tonkitsy Ramen was one of the best I have had. I took the spicy option where they add a chili paste that gives it a subtle kick. The tempura was also super crunchy with a big portion size. When I got the bill I was shocked to find out the beer was 15 dollars and the "special roll everyone loves" was 25. Definitely a little more pricey for a quick lunch spot. We stopped by around 4:30 on a Friday night, right after we placed our orders this place got packed. We were seated immediately and within 2 min they were asking us if we were ready to place our order. It was a bit hard to flag someone down to order more items, eventually we decided to not order anything extra. Not sure if it was the restaurant or the one next door but there was music playing. Nothing loud, you could slightly hear it in the background. Which I appreciate since it's nice to hear the person you're talking to. Now for the food, we ordered: 2 sodas, Takoyaki, beef bulgogi kimchi fries with an egg on top, spicy ramen and another chicken ramen (I added two spicy paste containers). The fries were definitely the showstopper of the night, they were delicious. Tokoyaki was okay, it didn't taste super fresh. As for both ramen they were not spicy at all. You constantly need to be stirring to avoid all the spices (flavor) to sit at the bottom, once doing so you get to taste a good flavor taken. While I've had ramen before, this was my 1st time eating at a ramen bar. The setting was nice, not really big inside and no too loud. My husband and I both had the lunch special: For me, that was the Tonkotsu and spring rolls. My husband: the spicy Tonkotsu with spicy crab roll. The pork belly was cooked to perfection! The broth, the noodles... everything was cooked well. I was scared to try the egg because runny eggs scare me, but to my surprise, the egg was cooked mostly through but not fully and it tasted so good! Desperate for ramen, we tried this place when we first moved to Temecula. The reason for 3 stars is mostly due to the fact they really understand how to pack fried stuff to go! It stays nice and crispy; props for that Soho! Unfortunately when you are paying almost $15-20 for a bowl of ramen, you get a certain expectation in your head. But let's be real, this is Temecula - and there really isn't much quality ramen places here. So let's get into the food. The noodles are kind of starchy. They have this store bought feel to them. The broth is decent. The pork is terrible. But, all ramen places that we've tried so far are the same level of terrible pork. I get it...we are about an hour out to any asian market. The tempura - small, but tasty. Don't get the karaage - you will be disappointed. Overall, I wouldn't go here unless Rockin Ramen was closed. Looking for a place to eat that wasn't just your traditional chain restaurant we stumbled across this spot in a restaurant row type are with a bunch of big names around it. We walked in and we're seated right away. Our waitress was prompt and took our drink orders and started on the order for our daughter. My daughter had yakisoba noodles with teriyaki chicken. While waiting for her to return we perused the menu. It's quite extensive. Appetizers, multiple ramen dishes, rice dishes, salads, and about 3/4 pages of sushi! My wife ordered one of the ramens and I went with something that sounded so out of the box I had to try it..Kimchi Beef Fries. The ramen was good. Broth was full of flavor noodles cooked nicely, you could tell this was more than just a soup. I didn't have much of it as I was drawn into my fries. Crispy crunchy golden brown fries topped with kimchi, beef strips, a delicious creamy sauce, and a fried egg. I know this sounds like the ultimate post party meal, but I just couldn't pass it up for dinner and I'm glad I didn't. It hit every tastebud you can think of.
