I really don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for family-owned restaurants, but I also feel it's important to share an honest experience so others can make informed decisions. I came here craving soup after being sick and ordered the pork soon tofu, while my wife ordered the bulgogi. The meat in both dishes was noticeably tough and difficult to chew compared to other Korean tofu restaurants we've visited. Because I wasn't feeling well, I couldn't fully taste the food, but my wife and daughter both immediately noticed that the bulgogi tasted sour. When we brought it to the staff's attention, they kindly offered to replace the meat, so we requested teriyaki chicken instead. Unfortunately, another serving of bulgogi was brought out instead. By that point, my wife and daughter had already finished eating and gone to the car, so I simply asked for it to be boxed up. After getting home, we decided to throw it away because we didn't feel comfortable taking a chance on meat that tasted off. The side dishes also didn't seem fresh, which matched what I had seen mentioned in other reviews. While I can't say for certain what caused the sour taste, it left us without confidence in the meal. Another thing worth mentioning is that there was no air conditioning on a very hot summer day, which made it uncomfortable to enjoy a steaming bowl of soup. Also, the dishes were served on hot plates, but nothing arrived sizzling or boiling the way you would normally expect at a Korean tofu restaurant. I genuinely want local family-owned restaurants to succeed, which is why writing this review isn't easy. Every restaurant can have an off day, and hopefully that's what happened here. Unfortunately, this visit didn't meet our expectations, and based on our experience, I'd encourage others to use their own judgment when deciding to dine here. read more

After numerous days in the hospital, my husband wanted some comfort food and this hit the spot. It met his expectations and met mine as well. The pork belly and beef short ribs were amazing! We did ask for more sesame oil than average, but they did deliver. Prior to finding this little gem, we went to two other KBBQ places and all were packed with long wait times. We were in Temecula for a weekend and our Asian stomachs were ready for an Asian meal. After driving around town to look at several Asian restaurants, this looked like the most promising aka the only one that had not only customers but a line! My friend was traveling with my family and I and she is Korean, she also thought this looked like a good bet! My parents shared a combo with soft tofu (seafood no spicy) with ribs, my friend had regular bibimbap with pork tofu mild spicy and I had the stone bowl bibimbap. We' were very satisfied with our meal. The restaurant was super busy, it looked like it was family owned. The ambiance was typical Korea style and we left as happy customers. On the way to Palm Springs, we found this hidden gem of a Korean restaurant in Temecula. Honestly one of the best Korean restaurants I've been to in a while and it's as good and authentic as the food you get in Korea! The restaurant is small but clean. Service was friendly and professional. The menu has every main Korean entree you can think of from cooked meats to soups to noodles. The side dishes were fresh and tasty. Our food was delicious. We ate everything, not one piece of rice leftover haha! We left full and happy. I wish they had an authentic Korean restaurant like this in San Diego. Temecula is lucky to have them! Came on a Friday night, wanting to try food here, and while the ambience and the servers were familiar and kind, and how I was expect at a Korean restaurant, the taste of the food were off. The tofu stew had a major black pepper taste to it, and no gojugaru flavor at all. The squid pancake was also way too salty. Price of the food was too expensive for the portion they gave. When I can't get to ktown for comfort food, I come to Sura. It's owned by a family and totally feels like comfort food. It is not a very big restaurant but I've never had to wait for a table. Service is efficient and the food is served piping hot. They have a huge air purifier to help kept the air fresh so you don't sell like food when you leave. Tables are mostly booths which are comfy. The menu has a good section of items to satisfy almost what everyone is craving. I usually opt for the soft tofu soup combined with bulgogi. Every now and again I want some good kalbi. There's something about the way it's cut and marinated that makes this my go-to Korean craving. At Sura, they sure had some damn delicious kalbi. I especially like the particular marinade they had this time. That being said, the bulgogi was a little lackluster and lacked much flavor, especially in comparison to its short rib big brother. It was fine, but I remarked at dinner that maybe we should've just gotten two kalbi orders. I also thought the wait for service was kind of surprising. From the time it took to seat us, to getting our order taken, to asking for refills, and to finally asking for the bill--getting someone to come to the table was just slow. It was as slow as any restaurant ever be. As someone who asks for refills on something at least two or three times a meal, this is unacceptable. If it's a matter of coverage, hire one or two more people. If it's a matter of bad attitude, that needs to be addressed in training. I hate when the food is pretty good, but the service turns out to be pretty bad. The place is nice-looking and the food is good, but I don't know if I'd ever want to come back if every ask is a struggle to get someone to fulfill it. read more

I want to acknowledge how accommodating this small mom & pop restaurant was for our big party that came in (20+ people post wedding weekend). Had dinner here at Sura Saturday night after seeing the restaurant a while ago. Wasn't too busy, got seated right away. Inside is nice and roomy, clean. Located in a shopping plaza across a newer hotel. Lots of parking. Menu is paper with photos, very easy to find what you wanna order. They offer a great selection of alcohol, I tried the Soju and it was really tasty. Owners very nice and attentive to everyone. Food didn't take too long to come out, I like how you get a little bit at a time. The banchan is so good, esp the potatoes. They offered to refill and bring us more, which we accepted, of course! We tried several dishes that were all good, portion sizes were good. Kids liked the food too. Everything fresh, delicious and hot when it came out. I was really disappointed with my experience. When we arrived for Korean food, there was a strange, unpleasant smell coming from the table or chairs, as if they hadn't been cleaned properly. It made the dining experience very uncomfortable. It was also nearly 100°F outside, yet the restaurant didn't have the air conditioning on. Instead, there were only a couple of fans on the floor, which did very little to cool the place down. The food also didn't match the photos very well. While it was the same dish, the actual food had noticeably fewer ingredients than what was shown in the pictures. Considering the relatively high prices, the portions and presentation were disappointing and did not meet our expectations. Overall, the food was overpriced for what we received, and the unpleasant dining environment made the experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, we left feeling very dissatisfied. read more

We shared a combo of BBQ chicken and soon tofu soup, which came with the usual sides of Kim Chee, other pickled veggies, fish cake and potatoes. No left overs and we were both so full. It was all delicious! Second time here, I told husband no sharing, I want my own meal (lol). I got bulgogi beef combo which comes with Soon Tofu soup (my preference is with mushrooms). Husband ordered bibimbap. Okay, it was way too much food for me. That's okay, now I have left overs for lunch. Pairing the crunchiness of the pickled veggies with the marinated BBQ proteins and rice is a perfect match! And the Soon tofu soup was filled with delicious flavor and brings back memories of eating at a favorite place in Irvine. In December 2024, we stopped by to check out Sura Korean Restaurant. We love this family-owned place. Although it may not be too fancy, it gives a cozy and humble atmosphere for dining in. A cute Korean restaurant in an area that you are not ganna find many spots in, Sura definitely stood out as a place to check out for when I am craving Asian food. I actually tried to come one time before, but wanted to mention that the kitchen closes around 40 minutes prior to their official close time, so if you go anytime after that, they will kindly decline your patronage. On our second attempt, we were able to show up around an hour before closing and was able to be seated and gotten our orders from in around ~15 minutes. Our orders came out together after another 15 minutes so was not as bad service as many other people mentioned, but we were the last two parties in the restaurant so that maybe played a part. I personally ordered their beef soondobu and bibimbap in a stonepot set. My favorite had to be the soondobu. I got the mild which was just a small enough kick to enjoy without feeling too spicy, and felt the soup broth had a nice deep flavor to it without feeling too watered down. A very clear highlight of the meal. The bibimbap was a bit on the less saltier side for my liking (had to add a good chunk of gochujang) as well as not as crispy as I would like being in a stonepot, but otherwise the ingredients were nice and fresh and was pretty filling.
