Since it was my first visit, I had a few questions, and she took the time to explain the menu and recommend some of her favorites without making me feel rushed. Her suggestions were spot on and really made my decision easy. I ordered the Rib Tickler and also decided to add their Link & Drink special. I normally wouldn't have ordered the sausage, but I'm so glad I did! It was smoky, juicy, and reminded me of a really good kielbasa. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal. The onion rings were perfectly crispy, the BBQ was flavorful, and the portions were huge. I only ate about a quarter of my meal before I was completely full, so I'll easily get two or three meals out of it. The restaurant was clean, there was plenty of parking, and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. If you're looking for a casual BBQ spot with generous portions, friendly service, and delicious food, Phil's BBQ is definitely worth a visit. I'll absolutely be back!

My nutritionist told me yesterday need to significantly increase my protein intake to help reduce muscle loss related to my autoimmune thyroid condition. Apparently, I was unaware of the unspoken rule that some places don't serve parties of one on weekends. One restaurant even had me wait 25 minutes before telling me they wouldn't seat a solo diner during the weekend. Unfortunately, my husband is currently deployed, so being a party of one isn't exactly a choice for me right now! Normally, dining alone doesn't bother me at all, but today it got to me. I was exhausted and simply wanted a comforting meal. Being turned away after waiting 25 minutes just because I by myself was the last thing I needed. When I called this restaurant, the owner or manager immediately answered and was incredibly friendly. He explained that they offer entrée and plate options for guests who aren't doing the all-you-can-eat menu. I honestly don't understand why more restaurants don't offer this. I know the food industry is competitive and businesses have to make money, but having options for solo diners makes such a difference. When I arrived, I received wonderful service right away, and there was no wait, but they were full. The owner or manager recognized me as the person who had called earlier and went out of his way to make me feel welcome since we found out we're from the same area. He even added a little surprise to my order simply out of kindness. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and attentive. In an area with no shortage of restaurants, I want to give this place the credit it deserves, not only for the excellent food, but for the heart behind the business. Today, I'm especially grateful for the kindness and generosity shown to me. You never know what someone may be going through, and a simple act of thoughtfulness can make a bigger impact than you realize. His kindness truly lifted my spirits after a long and difficult day. I believe this is a small family-owned business, and they absolutely deserve the support of the community. Great food is easy to find; genuine hospitality is much harder to come by. I'll definitely be back!
