I saw that it was a 3 1/2 star however this might just be the stars aligning .... to be fair on MY experience. It was between lunch and dinner, and not really busy at all. Maybe 4 tables seated and eating when I walked in. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered there. Just a water to drink and got my normal go to roll. Spicy Tuna. I also ordered the Magic Mikes as I want to see what can do with their house recipes. Ok, the waitress filled my water three time. 000000 complaints on service. She was on top of busing the table and drinks. My rolls came out in a decent amount of time. The rice was very good... sticky enough to hold the roll together and a soft mild flavor. The magic mikes presentation was excellent. Looks like a work of art. This thing is spicy!!! I could feel a little crunch as I was chewing down on the roll. The sliver of citrus gave it a nice finish and there was plenty of fish in the roll to justify the upper end price. The spicy tuna at 6$ is not a bad price for that roll in this town either. All and all my service was great, the speed of service was great and the food was really good. Please understand this was at a real dead time of day. I can see why there was a lot of negative comments during the busy times... but my personal experience was dead on delicious and enjoyable. This place was awesome! My husband and I were getting his car worked on and needed to kill 90 minutes. When we arrived our server Matthew was extremely welcoming and fun! He took amazing care of us! Came here on a Sunday to Old Town Temecula. Due to COVID19, we had to sit outside. The staff displayed good service. The sushi was of good quality, nice size and the price was reasonable. The magic mike roll was good but I think over priced at $16 or $17. The other rolls I purchased were good overall. I would come back and would recommend for people to try this spot. read more

I have been to Tabu Sushi a number of times now. I had a late lunch here 2 days ago and it was great! I enjoyed the bento box with beef and broccoli. The beef was incredibly delicious and oh so flavorful. The sauce was absolutely perfectly balanced - best I have had to date. The box comes with choice of soup ( I got Miso) and salad with very good ginger dressing. Within the box there is also tempura shrimp and veggies, steamed rice and 4 California rolls. Topping everything off was our server, Ashley, who was amazing! She was extremely engaging and took great care of us. She really made it a fun late lunch. Wonderful customer service - Thanks Ashley!! I came to this sushi place based on yelp and Groupon recommendations. The place can be pricy but so others sushi places. So they have a lot of different Dishes. They also have specials throughout the week and also others during happy hours. So I had the veggie yakisoba which was a lot of food and very tasty. Ordered two sushi plates and GTS edamame which was really good. While my cousin and I were tryin to see what to order, they have the salmon skin and I was wondering what that was and the chef heard so he told us he would make us a sample to try it. I chose the creamy lobster appetizer. Wow! Slightly crunchy with the sweet creamy lobster steaming inside. Light sauce over it. The deep fried lobster is not greasy at all. I assume everything else here is fresh and scrumptous. Even if you plan on dining elsewhere I suggest you at least stop by for the creamy lobster appetizer. A sushi gem in Temecula! After a long day in LA, my family and I were searching for a sushi place for dinner on our way home to SD. I'm very picky where I take down my sushi but when you're craving sushi and it's getting late, I went with the first place that popped up closest to the direction we were driving. Tabu was quick to seat us and took our order, considering how busy they were getting on a Saturday night. The joint was very clean, had a solid bar (sushi + alcohol), and vibe was great! But more importantly, the sushi did not disappoint! We had a few rolls (especially the lemon cilantro roll!), and GTS edamame - to die for! This is my second visit (once at dinner, now at lunch), and I'm still impressed. The staff are all so friendly, from sushi chef to waiter to manager, and we were even recognized for our second visit and told, "Welcome back!" The sushi here is wonderful. It's plated well, tasty as all get out, and the ingredients seem fresh. The salmon kama lunch special is also exceptionally well cooked. Serious kudos to the kitchen staff. Please try the GTS Edamame - it's garlic-y spicy goodness! Dessert (pictured) was such a masterpiece, it made me want to actually review the place. The server we had must be new, otherwise I can't see why she would still be employed. She got a few things wrong with our order, didn't bring an item or two at all, and caused the manager to check on us a couple times. The sin city roll I ordered had a little too much cream cheese. Otherwise, it wasn't bad. My mom ordered the chicken teriyaki bento, and everything was good but the chicken was a little dry. My sister's roll was good as well, though I can't remember the name of it. The mochi was delicious. Definitely the best I've had in Temecula, and also better than some places I've bought them in San Jose. They weren't frozen solid, but soft and chewy, without the sorbet being melted. I had the Spicy Margherita, minus the jalapeño element..it was surprisingly delicious and the ratio of alcohol was well balanced, so I ordered another! Pricing: seemed somewhat adequate for the location and some of the quality of the food. Overall: My experience was pleasant enough to entice me to try other dishes. Looking forward to it. Ordered an $8 Tokyo tea and one sip told me it was weak, was told a TOTAL of 11/2 ounces alcohol was used (normally 1.5 ounce of eachin any "tea" for a total of 4.5 ounces of vodka, tequila and rum. Returned it for a svedka gummy bear. Today young girls manned the bar and used iPhones to mix drinks...weakly. Rainbow roll was dry rice and mushy fish, dynamite roll was just ok. Had to beg for service... no water provided. Just a big "miss" today. 2.5 stars Average of two experiences: 3 stars...guys, you are NOT that good to just do things half assed. Went there for my friends 30th. There was probably 30+ people there and the food came out at a decent time frame. It felt like we didn't wait long at all. The food was sooo good!! Like amazing! I totally over ate and their spicy margaritas are to die for! We had one server and he was amazing! The only recommendation I would give is that they invest in some type of pos system to take orders. At the end we did wait a little while they figured out each persons tab. The server organized it from the beginning with separate tabs but it was on paper. A pos system is nice because it helps with the flow of the kitchen and Keeps everything organize and more efficient. Plus your server will be happy lol. Sorry to say but this was not the service I had hoped for. I placed an order for one roll and I think they forgot about me. And there were only 3 tables occupied while I was there. When I asked they immediately brought it out, so it was sitting somewhere and the server never delivered it. Also they was no napkins on the table and they never offered any. I had a one ice tea and when it was emptied they never came to refill it. Sushi was ok, I have had better. I tried the garlic green beans and they were super greasy with no real taste. We did the saki bombs (sorry if I spelled it wrong) witch was cool because you hit the table and the shots fall into the beer and you chug it. The waitress was so nice she took a video for us. Only three ingredients including rice and seaweed make up this delicious roll however the chef who just wanted to rush me out the door managed to produce a sloppy and hastily rushed roll that fell apart as the server placed it on the table. It was so tiny It looked like a kids menu item. I've been to Japan and frequented many sushi houses, serving sushi with such carelessness to the customer brings shame upon a true sushi chef, as it shows the lack of attention to detail and skill level of their teacher. We asked the waitress if we could still get the happy hour price because we clearly arrived before happy hour ended, and she said yes. But when the bill came it was full price. I was so utterly disappointed in everything by the time the bill came, I didn't argue it. My son order green tea, and was brought iced green tea. We found it odd that the waitress did not ask if he wanted hot or iced. When the sashimi was served I asked for ginger (as we not given any), but it did not come from the friendly smiling server. After my son had eaten about half or more of his dinner (he was waiting and then finally started eating slowly), I got the attention of our waitress and asked again for ginger. I can never see sushi the same way ever again after coming to Tabu. Their nigiri sushi portions are just a GODSEND. Its huge! The perfect amount of fish and rice. I asked Phil, our sushi chef, for 5 orders of both salmon belly and cajun albacore and it certainly did not disappoint. Salmon belly was huge and juicy and just melted into my mouth perfectly. Phil's version of cajun albacore was interesting, as he added the cajun powder sauce wasn't actually on the nigiri, it was more of a condiment next to it. He also added a taste of garlic and ginger onto the nigiri which had a interestingly good flavor! Phil was also courteous us and surprised our group with a special array of custom rolls that were too beautiful to eat! I was very impressed with how he made one of rills because the sashimi was arranged to look like a flower. Overall, despite being in a small town, Tabu is definitely a Gem in Temecula.
