I recently visited the K-top Korean BBQ for the first time. Although I noticed some negative reviews.. we decided to try it because of their convenient 11:30 AM opening time, which is much earlier than most Korean barbecue restaurants. I am very glad we went, the establishment was remarkably clean, and the food was fresh with an excellent selection at the salad bar. Furthermore, William provided outstanding service, making us feel incredibly welcome. This is definitely a restaurant worth trying. read more

First time here. We came at 5pm on Sunday and were seated right away. It's open and spacious inside. The salad bar is right in the middle and easy to access from anywhere. Our server is Kayleanne and she was great! Very friendly. She was on top of grill changes and getting the meats quickly. She also gave us good recommendations on what was good and what to try. Everyone that came by the table was very friendly. The food. It is nice having the buffet salad bar. Lots of options. The couple times we went up there were no fries and the tempura looked like it had seen better days. The japachae was delicious. My husband liked the fried rice and cucumbers. The fried chicken was good too. I did not care for the salad dressing but appreciate the fresh salad. I would have liked to see the sweet potatoes. I asked about the rice wraps and was told they don't have them even though it is listed on the menu. The shaved ice machine is out of service at the moment. The meats were all very good. We got the select menu and enjoyed the premium meats. The portion sizes are great and we had plenty to eat! The restaurant has a good vibe and the food overall was pretty good. I was thrilled to hear a new Korean barbecue spot was finally opening in town, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The ventilation was a major issue -- the smoke lingered throughout the meal, making it hard to enjoy the food comfortably. The banchan, served buffet-style, was underwhelming both in variety and freshness. The grills themselves were quite small, which made cooking for our group awkward and slow. On the plus side, the meat quality was decent. However, the side dishes and other menu items we ordered didn't live up to expectations either. I was so excited to find out from my awesome YELP ELITE friend @AmyC. That this place is having a soft opening. We had a gap in between work today so we decided to give it a try!... DOOR: I have to say that you have to PULL IT OPEN with all your might! It's a very hard door to open and a lot of seniors may not be able to open it. PRO TIP: Bring someone who is strong enough to open a heavy weight door with you!... AMBIANCE: 10/10 Very spacious and open concept. They also have window seats with views. The exhaust system was pretty strong so we didn't have such a strong smell of KBBQ in our clothes! SERVICE: A+ Excellent! Shout out to Kyla and William for providing such friendly and helpful service. Also to the very nice hostess in the front! I didn't get her name but, she's tall and looks like she could be a model... MEATS: The bulgogi, brisket and chicken were my favorite! Most of the sides were available at the buffet station. What stood out to me was their spicy buckwheat noodles, potato salad and fried chicken!! SAUCES: There is sesame oil, sambal, brisket sauce and samjaang at the buffet station too... I came during their soft opening so there needs to be some improvements as far as staffing and customer service goes. Most did not know gochuchang, ssamjang and other sauces. But theyll learn these things in no time. This is normal. All the servers and workers were very nice and sweet as can be! I love that this place is so open! Nice and big. Chill atmosphere. Its spaced out well and the illusion that its huge has succeeded in my book! The menu has 4 options. The lunch special at 24.99 is what people mostly come for. The other menu prices are 33$ (for all day, every day) and the next one up is 43$ and 53$ respectively with more selections of meat. For me, I only ever eat beef belly and pork jowl, so the lunch menu will do just fine. I really loved the beef belly and pork jowl here. The quality is very decent. I also like how they come in smaller portions. Additionally to this, they have a salad bar. Its really convenient as you can get your sides and sauces all readily available for you. There are also hot foods like pot stickers and fried rice and jap chae. The neat thing is they have cold buckwheat noodles. My one con about this place is they dont have unlimited refills like 2n1. Today, they did not have corn cheese and rice paper as they will have it on their grand opening July 4th. The steamed egg was OK, but not bad. I really hated the soondobu. It tasted like pickled mustard plants were in it. Thats not how soondobu that im used to tastes so it could be me. K-Top KBBQ is massive, bright, and has plenty of seating (plus parking that won't have you circling the block questioning your parking skills).. The menu gives major 2N1 vibes with 4 tiers: $24.99 lunch M-Th $33.99 Regular $42.99 Select $52.99 Premium We went Select because galbi and rib fingers are our fave cuts, and their meat cuts were slightly better than their rivals!!!! The bulgogi was delish, lightly marinated w bromelain (they know how to do it)!!! Banchan is self-serve, and they even have shaved ice with condensed milk and sweet beans to give your palate a sweet little reset after the meat marathon. The service was seriously top-notch!!! Had some really good food and excellent service here for dinner. Keep in mind they're brand new, so there may be a few growing pains. Robert, our server, was excellent. Clean spot with great, attentive service! Overall a good experience, but there are two areas that could use improvement. First, the steamed eggs that we both received overcooked with noticeably dry edges right out of the kitchen. Second--and most importantly--limiting beef tongue to just one small plate per person feels overly restrictive for a $42.99 AYCE price point. It offers differrent levels of All-You-Eat KBBQ options : Lunch Specials (Mon-Thursday 11.30am-3pm only), and the Regular, Select, Premium options are available All-Day everyday. The side dishes and soup are self-serve at the salad bar. Steamed eggs need to be ordered from the server. Loved their steamed eggs and cucumber salad. Everything else was just ok. I visited Temecula with my family for a day trip, and I was craving MEAT! A lot of meat!! This place was newly opened and it was during their soft opening, and honestly, this place exceeded my expectations! We came for Saturday lunch, and it wasn't too crowded, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We ordered the Premium menu ($53 on the weekend), and the quality of the meat was excellent. Everything looked fresh and tasted great -- beef tongue, premium galbsal (beef short rib), marbled ribeye, pork jowl, and brisket. My personal favorites were the galbisal and ribeye. They were so tender and flavorful that they practically melted in your mouth, especially when paired with the fresh salad and dressing or dipped into the brisket sauce. For the pork, the pork jowl and pork belly were amazing Korean-style: a piece of garlic, a slice of jalapeño, and a little ssamjang, or wrapped up with some grilled kimchi. So good! I personally prefer unmarinated meat, so I really appreciated having so many high-quality options that weren't heavily seasoned. What really surprised me, though, was the banchan and food selection. The side dishes were not just sitting there for hours -- we noticed the chef preparing and replenishing them throughout our meal. Everything tasted fresh, and there was a LOT to choose from. There was tteokbokki and fried dumplings from School Food, delicious potato salad, japchae, makguksu, Korean-style fried chicken, and more. My daughter especially loved the Korean fried chicken and went back for it several times! The fried sweet potato and pumpkin were another highlight. They were being fried fresh and served crispy rather than sitting around getting soggy. Rice and steamed egg need to be ordered from the kitchen, while pretty much everything else is self-serve and unlimited. And then there's the shaved ice! This is something that really sets K-Top apart from other Korean BBQ places. My kids had so much fun making their own shaved ice after lunch. The toppings were currently red bean and condensed milk only. I heard that they originally had mochi toppings as well, but unfortunately some guests took way more than their share, so they had to stop putting them out. Hopefully they'll bring back more fun toppings after the grand opening -- if the kids have a few extra topping options to play with, we adults can sit back and enjoy our BBQ a little longer! For $53 on a weekend, I thought the Premium menu was absolutely worth it. Considering the quality of the premium meats, unlimited fresh vegetables and banchan, sauces, fried foods, and shaved ice, I felt like we got more than our money's worth. Since this was a soft opening, I'm curious to see how the menu evolves for the grand opening. If I had to mention a couple of small improvements, the pumpkin porridge was a little bland for my taste, and I'd love to see more shaved ice toppings, especially for the kids. Overall, we had a really fun experience here. The restaurant is spacious, parking is easy, and the location is convenient. If you're visiting Temecula and craving Korean BBQ, K-Top BBQ is definitely worth checking out! I'm looking forward to coming back our next visit to Temecula. read more

We had a solid KBBQ experience here! One of my favorite features is the self-service side bar. It's such a game changer being able to grab extra sides and sauces whenever we need them without having to flag down a server. ​We ordered the beef belly, brisket, and bulgogi. The quality of the meats was generally good, though I have to mention that the flavor of the bulgogi was a bit different from what we are usually accustomed to. Its just didn't quite hit that classic note we were looking for. The steamed egg was just okay as well. ​A few things that would take this place to the next level: Ventilation: Ensuring the exhaust vents are running at full capacity from the start would make for a much more comfortable dining environment. You can tell immediately when you walk in that the vents arent on but we got lucky and seated on the left side where the ac was blowing smoke at the other couple. ​Rice Paper: It would be a great addition to have this available for wraps. ​Dessert Options: It would be lovely if they offered fresh fruit with the shaved iced for a lighter finish. ​Overall, it's a convenient spot with a great setup, and we enjoyed the autonomy of the self-service bar. Imagine that, a TikTok recommendation that actually didnt disappoint. We went last Thursday the 23rd for dinner and it was pretty busy for a Thursday night. Upon entering, the vibes and decor gave that Roland heights hole in the wall "authentic" kbbq spot. Not that any of the other kbbq spots in the area arent authentic, but if you've ever been to Roland Heights, you know what I'm talking about lol Our experience with the service was the complete opposite of those that left the negative reviews. We got seated pretty quickly and our waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive during the entire stay. Busboys were also on top of it making sure the tables were cleared as soon as your meat plate was empty. (Something a certain 2in1 seems to deal with everytime we go) We got the lowest tier option and meat quality was really good. Everything from the brisket, to the pork belly and bulgolgi hit the spot. The spicy pork belly could've been a bit more spicy but overall the quality of the meat was extremely good. Now for the highlight of the night, the banchan bar. Yeah yeah they call it a salad bar l, but let's be real, that shit is a banchan bar and it's something more kbbq spots would adopt. Why? Because there is nothing more that I despise than to bug the wait staff asking for more banchan or sauces just for them to come back with the bare minimum. That, and having 1000 little plates of banchan scattered throughout the table taking up real estate for the meat. K-Top does it right. You get exactly what you want, however much you want on a giant plate or bowl, and leave the waitstaff to tend solely to meats and drinks. A+++ efficiency in my book. All in all, you won't be disappointed coming here for your weekly kbbq fix. It's not a Chubby Cattle or Baekjeong but I feel this could be up there with the Gens or Cham Soot Gol's with time. 2n1 and Dpoong definitely has some competition coming their way. read more

NO SOLO DINERS ALLOWED. Wrote a detailed and positive review previously, but had to retract it when they made it clear that I was no longer welcome there. They said I could eat there one last time, but I must bring a friend next time because they will start enforcing the no solo diners policy. I did hear them say this to another solo diner as well, so it isn't personal, it is their new policy. I do realize that this is not super unusual for popular KBBQ spots, but dang this is Temecula. You are a decent place for the area with a reasonably priced lunch special. But it's hard to make it in this town as a restaurant. You are new. Why are you already alienating people simply because they might be rolling solo? It actually is a cruel concept - perhaps somebody is recently widowed, doesn't have friends, doesn't have a relationship, the people in their life might be vegetarians, loved ones out of town, or they simply wants to escape a bit to gather their thoughts from the chaos of life and want some alone time. They should be told they are not good enough and not welcome? Other places with this policy often will allow solo diners in non-busy times. Like I'd understand it if it was enforced for the lunch special times or busy weekend times. Not that cool, but at least understandable. But don't even want the business on like a Tuesday at 4pm when nobody is there? Smart business decision to turn away paying customers when it's not busy. . . Anyway, I'm babbling because I truly find this offensive as a concept, to exclude people who could be lonely. My reason isn't so dire, I simply just want a quick lunch without spending a lot. But I won't be returning because if I'm going to bother to gather friends, family or wife to have KBBQ. . .at this point I'll just take a drive to a higher end place in San Diego, Corona, LA area, etc. . .this place is good for a quick impromptu lunch. Decided to try this new AYCE Korean BBQ today. I've been to many AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants and this place is on the bottom of my list. - Staff is friendly. They need to work out some kinks though. They dropped off steamed egg at our table and we didn't order it. - Grill is almost leveled with table so the oil from grill can get messy and splatter on the table and close to you. I got hit a few times with the oil. There were drips of oil next to the table I sat. Someone could easily slip. They need to be more thorough in their cleaning between customers. - Food: Meat was good. It's the typical quality and cut. I was not a fan of their banchan. They did not seem fresh and the kimchi & daikon was very sour. The cucumber kimchi I could not eat. It just the taste that wasn't appealing. There was no rice paper. There are other hot food in the self serve area. They are alright. The tofu soup lacked flavor. - I wouldn't come back. It was the taste of their food that I was not a fan of. Best Korean BBQ in the area, hands down! The service was super friendly from the moment we walked in, and the place is really spacious so we never felt cramped even with a big group. The meat was seriously delicious -- great quality and perfectly marinated. But honestly, what stood out the most was the self-serve banchan bar. No more waiting around for someone to bring you more side dishes -- you just grab whatever you want, whenever you want, as much as you want. I really hoped to enjoy this place because KBBQ in Temecula is historically lacking, in my opinion. However, we have no plans to return at this point. On Friday through Sunday, the cheapest option was around $42. Bottom line: the food is not nearly tasty enough to warrant this price. It definitely wasn't the worst KBBQ experience I've ever had. Nothing that I ate was terrible by any means but, most times, the meats seriously lacked flavor. For their price point, I expected much more impressive flavors, cuts, and sides. It was refreshing to see that tteokbokki and kimchi jeon were offered as sides. In my experience, these are not always available at other restaurants. However, all of the buffet-style sides were pretty bland and unimpressive, as well. Service was decent for the most part. The staff were attentive and friendly. Their grills are relatively small and level with the table, which I found made for an awkward grilling experience. The inside of the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. Granted, we visited on a hot Summer day so I get it but, regardless, it was a pretty miserable experience at our window booth on the east side of the building. The air seemed much cooler in the middle of the room so I would ask for a table there if you plan to visit. They sat us at a dirty booth that we had to request to be cleaned before sitting down. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, gas station quality. I am willing to overlook many of these complaints if the food is good enough, but this wasn't the case. If they offered their meals at 12-15 dollars cheaper, I would call this restaurant a decent KBBQ experience for someone not willing to make the long drive south toward San Diego, where the really good KBBQ is. I went in for lunch and had the absolute best experience from the restaurant ambiance, to the service to the quality of the meat and attentiveness of our server William we had absolutely nothing bad to say about this restaurant. William was so kind, relatable and fun as our server. He checked on us frequently and engaged in conversation each time he came over and he made the experience 10x better. The food was 10/10, our meat was always being refilled as soon as we finished and we hardly had to ask for a grill change because someone was watching to make sure we were good. Food was good. They are still in the softening phase. Grand opening is July 4th. Good choices for the dishes. Loved the spicy octopus. Pork and beef belly was great love the fats. If you want lean go for the k-top steak. Side dishes is unlimited plus it's self serve which I prefer rather than waiting for the server. Service was friendly and will help out if you haven't done this before. Our server assigned to us just started but was very helpful. Ambiance was great lots of open space not constricted. We sat next to a window which was nice to see the outside. Parking is all around not really an issue. Pricing is good they just need to be more clear on the specials. Especially their banner just shows price but doesn't state when that's only available. I overheard one customer somewhat disappointed but he was fine doing the regular. I would recommend adding the days available for the special since people only see that and go in expecting to pay that price but the weekends don't offer that price. All in all good experience. The meats are marinated just right, not too sweet, and the quality is the same as I've had before in this price range. The food has the real home cooking Korean taste. This review is strictly about customer service, because I wasn't even given the chance to try the food. I showed up to KTop midweek right at 11:30 a.m. when they opened. The place was completely empty--no line, no customers, just me. I was told there's a two-person minimum and was turned away immediately. No flexibility, no attempt to accommodate, nothing. Just a flat "no," despite the restaurant being dead. Now here's the problem. The night before around 7:00 p.m., I went to 2N1. It was packed. Still, they took my name for a table of one, called me within minutes, and explained the same two-person minimum policy. The difference is their manager actually cared enough to make an exception and seat me, even during peak hours. So let that sink in--one place turns away a paying customer when they're completely empty, while another goes out of their way to accommodate during their busiest time. That's not policy--that's poor customer service. KTop had zero reason not to seat me and chose not to anyway. If this is how they treat potential customers, I wouldn't bother coming back. read more

This is already my second time since they opened and it's quickly become my favorite AYCE Korean BBQ spot. They have amazing quality meats and lots of yummy side dishes/banchan. Some of the reviews are too low. I checked it out and on a wednesday night this is 4 to 5 stars. Had a great dinner. The waitstaff were all very friendly, accomodating, and fast. Overall I'll probably go to this spot a few more times instead of the other places because the food was good, service good, i like the layout and tables of this place more, and it wasn't as busy as some of the other places so it was easier for me to get help. I went on wednesday 5pm though so maybe thats just the best time to go. The meat quality was good like other places. I like that you can get beef intestine on the basic meal plan. I dont think other places had intestine. Now the banchans ill give 3.8 out of 5. I do like the self service because i dont like how the other places waste so much food with uneaten banchan. They didnt have rice paper which is my fav but thats ok. They had fresh veggies to eat with the meat. And i like that i can just grab whatever banchan i want without asking for help. Food was very good, lived the brisket and beef belly. I also recommend the beef tongue, tasted delicious with the brisket sauce. They have an ayce salad bar which is great, since you don't have to always get a waiter for side dishes. Loved the assortment, from side dishes to noodles (the buckwheat noodles were my favorite).
