I stopped in for lunch while waiting for my dog to finish his grooming appointment nearby, and I'm so glad I did! I chose the walk-up, self-service ordering area instead of the full-service dining room, and I'm really glad I did. The woman who took my order was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Since it was my first visit, I had a few questions, and she took the time to explain the menu and recommend some of her favorites without making me feel rushed. Her suggestions were spot on and really made my decision easy. I ordered the Rib Tickler and also decided to add their Link & Drink special. I normally wouldn't have ordered the sausage, but I'm so glad I did! It was smoky, juicy, and reminded me of a really good kielbasa. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal. The onion rings were perfectly crispy, the BBQ was flavorful, and the portions were huge. I only ate about a quarter of my meal before I was completely full, so I'll easily get two or three meals out of it. The restaurant was clean, there was plenty of parking, and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Stopped by the newer Phil's BBQ on our way home from San Diego. The original Phil's BBQ is actually in San Diego. This establishment gives casual bar and table seating. The bar area is full service but outside of the bar, you order food and then find seating. There is a lot of seating but hosting large parties could be tricky because of this. The service received was great. I even appreciated our server letting me know my cocktail wasn't going to look like the picture, and it didn't! He brought us everything we requested. Now let's get to the food! They have a nice selection of bbq food options and sides. I opted for the baby back tickler (no substitutions) for $13.99. It comes with 3 baby back ribs, coleslaw, fries, and two onions rings. You have the choice of sauce on, on the side, or both. They will also give you ranch. Bae got the el toro fries with sliced tritip for $13.99. FYI - if you're someone who doesn't like things saucy, get your sauce in the side! The fries were drenched in sauce and it made it difficult to taste anything but the sauce. The meat was thinly sliced. I wish the meat slices were a little thicker, especially with that over powering sauce. Outside of that, the meat was tender and the sauce is a little sweet, tangy, and hits you with a little heat at the end. The baby back ribs were fork tender but not fall off the bone. The beef rib meat was tender but not fall off the bone. I noticed it still had tendon on it and that could be why some pieces were a little touch and chewy. The coleslaw is a nice refreshing bite between your bites of bbq beef. The onions rings are beer battered and crispy. My only critique is they were crazy oily. The fries were cooked fresh and not over seasoned. I do suggest asking for them hot or extra crispy because I heard they're not always hot. I definitely enjoyed Phil's. That corn bread be hitting!!! Oh my gosh. I am obsessed with the cornbread at Phil's BBQ. It is by far the best cornbread I have ever had! I didn't know I liked cornbread before Phil's LOL now I know that I like it, just only like it at Phil's lol My husband also loves the cornbread. The maple butter is aaaaaaaamazing on top too! I could eat this all day. We brought the leftovers home and my husband and I were fighting over the last piece! I'm not even joking lol That being said, I also ordered some cheese fries. I also ordered the giant pretzel with cheese. The pretzel wasn't bad. The cheese that came with it was fire. I used that cheese and poured it on my fries to make that better. It was bomb! I did eat some of the pretzel, it was soft on the inside and warm. I would order the cheese fries again, but do the cheese sauce from the pretzel on it instead of grated cheese. Been here before and I always looked forward to their chicken wings! Ordered the 10-pc wings and Baby Back Rib Tickler (3-pc juicy ribs smothered with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, French fries and 3 pcs of onion rings) paired with a glass of wine and beer for me and hubby. I love that they have a location in Temecula because I feel it's a lot less busy than their San Diego location. It's located at the corner of the Promenade plaza. There's plenty of parking around as well as a ton of tables inside and also an outside patio area. There's a bar area on one side and the other side has tables and spot to order for take out or dine in. They have an extensive menu. My favorite is the their pork ribs! I usually get bone in, but today I tried the rib less and chick less which was nice since I didn't have to work to get my meat. It was packed with flavor and meat was nice and juicy inside. I love their fries because it's a nice thickness and isn't too salty. Their Mac salad is my favorite! It's not overly mayo flavor and the tiny macaroni makes it fun to eat. My family and I visited Phil's BBQ in Temecula to celebrate my 51st birthday. Overall, we enjoyed spending time together. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the menu offered a great variety of options at reasonable prices. We ordered the Baby Back Rib Family Meal, which gave us a chance to try several different items. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was that nearly everything was served lukewarm instead of hot. I've visited the San Diego locations many times, and the food has always been served fresh and piping hot, so this was surprising. The coleslaw also tasted a bit bitter, which wasn't what I expected. The cornbread had a nice flavor and was one of the highlights of the meal, but I really wish it had been served warm so we could have melted butter into it. Another issue we encountered was with the plates. When we grabbed our dishes, we found that several of them were dirty and had to go back to get clean ones before we could eat. This experience was very different from what I've come to expect from Phil's BBQ based on my many visits to the San Diego locations. Because of that, I'm not sure the Temecula location is one I would choose to visit again. read more

First time coming to Phil's BBQ and it was quite interesting. We were originally going to visit the SD location but there was always a long wait so we ended up going to the Temecula location instead. No wait at all! I like the indoor ambiance and it's easy to order at the back of the restaurant and if you want to chill at the bar it's on the right hand side. There's a lot of menu options but we ended up with the chicken bbq ribs and added on the link plus soda option for ($4.99). Basically when you add on the link you get the soda for free. Let me tell you the chicken and link were delicious. The bbq ribs were very dry and fatty which is strange because when it's fatty it's usually more tender. We got a side of potato salad which I like the addition of dill and the red potato's was nice and firm. The other side was coleslaw. Just the usual typical good tasting coleslaw. Overall meal was $24.99 plus the $4.99 link. Pricey for the food you are getting but I didn't enjoy the taste. Would've been better if the meal came with a side of corn bread or biscuit. Good service and friendly staff. I like how there are rolls of paper towels on each table and there's even wet nap and a sink if your hands are very dirty. read more

Monday, July 21, 2025: This was the first time we were able to get in and eat here. The year before the line was out the door so we left. This day it was so accessible much to our delight. Upon entering you're beckoned by the mouthwatering BBQ aroma wafting in the air, a good harbinger of delectable eats to come. We loved the decor with its rustic slash sports bar allure. It was very clean and seating areas arranged well. The young lady at the counter was very welcoming and friendly. We both ordered the Chick-Less Ticklers plus added a link and drink each. Our food didn't take long and we were soon savoring our chicken when I noticed one of the orders was not right. I returned to the counter and explained to the young lady who took our order previously. She apologized profusely & called the manager over. The manager took great care of us and we were thankful for her superb customer service and hospitality. We enjoyed the chicken, which was juicy & tender with the perfect char.The link was yummy too. We were craving comfort food for lunch and I recalled passing by Phil's BBQ in Temecula earlier. Good thing I trusted my gut feelings about making that illegal lane change (I did it very safely) to turn around and head towards Phil's BBQ! The restaurant is located in a corner of the Shopping Mall where there are multiple choices for having a meal. Lots of parking spaces everywhere and easy to access. Phil's BBQ was indeed a great spot for comfort foods. The large doors were welcoming with signage that will help those newbies and unfamiliar with the layout. Was greeted with a friendly and warm smile by ALL the employees. Tried the Philibuster with fries and side of Caesar Salad. We shared this bountiful and delicious lunch and had leftovers to take home. I keep a list of places where I find extraordinary dishes and I've another to my list of Caesar Salads! The dressing was refreshing and delicious. One of my favorite now!!! The Philibuster had all kinds of levels of flavors. I suggest asking for extra sides of BBQ sauce to add more flavor and texture to enjoy the sandwich. The meats were overcooked dry yet heavily doused in candy sweet sauce. But I didn't go in to have a pretty view, I went in for some good food and unfortunately my rating is due to the chicken being really dry, and the coleslaw tasted as if it was made out of onion. It was spicy. It is pretty affordable. My plate was only like 12 bucks and it was full of food, most of them being fries, dry chicken, and hard onion rings. We stopped by for lunch on a weekday here, and it was not crowded at all. Parking was easy to find, and we were promptly greeted when we were ready to be helped. Phil's BBQ offers a whole dine-in experience or just regular dine-in, where you have to get up and pick up your own food after you order at the counter. We decided on the complete service. We had the December's special beer, and also ordered their onion rings, two beef ribs, BBQ chicken, and brisket. We chose their fries and the macaroni salad as our sides. The beer came out first, and it was really refreshing, fruity, and actually excellent! The food took a while to make it to our table. My favorite is the beef ribs! The BBQ chicken came in second; it was nicely cooked, tender, and juicy. We asked for the BBQ sauce on the side so we can actually see the meat and eat it as is before dipping it in the sauce. The onion rings were good, the only problem is that they are not colossal in portion :p The brisket is sliced deli-style, and we'd probably skip it next time. The two sides were great, but the macaroni salad was delicious and probably our favorite side. The fries were not bad; they were crispy and salty. The ambiance was very casual and relaxed. For a whole dine-in experience, though, our waitstaff only checked on us once at the beginning, shortly after our food arrived. We never got any water refilled. I would have liked the waitstaff to come by one more time to check if we needed anything, or, when the waitstaff saw our water was gone, to refill it. Been here six times now after being a loyal patron of the San Diego location since early 2000 in my comic-con days. Recently been making the 1hr 15min drives here as the food is even better than the San Diego location and the service here is just straight up benchmark breaking. Food: understand if there is anything wrong with your food and your not back flipping for it, go to the front and mention it. They will make it right and you will leave satisfied. Before I wrote this review to see what complaints people have and I realize most of them are just shy or people that won't bother to bring up an honest issue. The rib dinner has basically made me stop going to Lucille's. Lucilles used to have a 7 bone dinner that I would go twice a week for but their prices just keep going up and the portions have become something to laugh at.
