bacon and green onion bun ~
    Claudia K.

This used to be a bakery I went to a lot back when I worked in the area! The biggest reason for it was because it had a lot of buns that were just what I was looking for in terms of ingredients that were unique :D -Each pastry is extremely flavorful -Their milk tea is award winning (literally) -Their bread is pre-individually packec in bags already -Large variety of pastries/bread offered My personal recommendation that is my favorite from here is..... -[GREEN ONION & BACON BUN] This bun is PACKED with bacon bits, green onions, and some mixture of cream cheese~ Honestly, such a delicious combination! Also! I highly recommend their -[CHEESE BREAD SAUSAGE BUN] $1.80 ^this bun could EASILY be a full meal! Not sure what happened to their buns but I am not complaining :D Their buns are MASSIVE in a great way, now! Just means the value is better compared to before and the quality has remained the same, and I dare say it, I personally think it has actually IMPROVED! Oh, also, don't forget to try their -[INDIVIDUAL CHICKEN PIE] The pastry is very flaky in a lovely way and the filling is delicious~ Stop on by and buy your bread from here instead of T&T!

Pineapple bun and HK milk tea.
    Elaine C.

Discovered Soho for the classic pineapple bun (菠蘿包)and HK milk tea (港式奶茶) during this pandemic. What a good find! Close to home so the buns are still warm when we bring them back. The buns are so tender and soft, melt-in-your mouth goodness. They remind me of the buns we got down the street in Hong Kong. Their tea is so smooth and fragrant too! Together, they make the perfect breakfast. My hubby even cut the 1/4" slab of butter into it to create his own 菠蘿油. This week we tried the pineapple cocktail bun (菠蘿雞尾包) but I don't think I'll get it again. While the bun's texture and topping were as good as their pineapple bun, the filling was way too sweet. You know how when something is overly sweet, it makes you sweat? Well this was it. If the sugar was cut 25% to even 50% it would taste better. I already feel the sugar stomach ache brewing.

I came back again because I was craving for the milk tea. Not all the buns were out yet as they officially open at 9am., but I went in anyway as the doors were open. I bought the original pineapple bun. It was sooooo good as it was still warm. The bun was soft inside and the crust was a little crunch on the outside. I really enjoyed it!! I had asked for little sugar in my milk tea and it was perfect this time. Last time I had asked for little sugar but it was still on the sweet side . Perfect with my pineapple Bun before work!

5 inch cake but sold to me as a 7 inch cake. What is this?!?!?!?

Can't speak much about their buns, but my family loves their mixed fruit cakes. However, I found their size to be quite disappointing now. It has significantly shrunk and I'm not exaggerating on this. Please see pic below. The fortunate part is that the taste is still the same but with less fruits? I called in to order the cake and specifically asked the person on the phone what is their smallest size. They said 7inches which equal to 1 pound, $30. Totally fine and delighted until I opened the box. The cake is only 5inches!!!!! Don't tell me it's a 7inch/1lb cake when it's not. price here is not the issue, I felt like I was lied to. Please make sure you advertise the right measurements because we ended up not having enough cake for our party.

This bakery was on my radar for quite some time. It was a bit of a trek, but I found a plaza nearby, so I managed to check out the surrounding area as well. There is a small eating area, and a good selection of buns, tarts, breads and cakes. I found the egg tarts, mango swiss roll and black sesame mochi were okay. The coconut tart was dry and crumbly; however, the coconut bun had a generous filling inside and was good. The staff could have been more personable; overall, I just didn't get a good vibe. While it's a nice little bakery in a residential area, I wish I had loved it more. Perhaps it was just an off day ... My receipt wasn't itemized - selections ranged from $1.20 - $1.80 each.

An upscale Asian meets Western Chinese bakery, quite similar to Bake Code. Unlike other Asian bakeries, someone was here to greet you and make recommendations and explain what was inside each of their buns. They have your typical buns like BBQ Pork and Pineapple Bun, and then they have other unique buns that they don't offer elsewhere like Durian Bun and Apple Pie look-alike Bun (forgot the actual name). I ordered the Durian Bun (made with real Durian, not that much was inside but it actually complimented the bread very well and it's a tad on the sweeter side), Korean-style Bun...forgot the actual name of it (has chilli better on top, pork, cheese, and green onion on the inside. Interesting twist from the Chico powder! however, I wish there was more toppings inside to fill in the bun), and the wintermelon pastry (has lots of fillings!). My uncle also delivered egg tarts and those were delicious. As mentioned from the other reviewers, there is a lot of egg inside it. I love how the buns are super fluffy and light and fresh!!! The price quite is quite high compared to Chinese bakeries, but imo not as high as Bake Code. I would however come back in the future to try out other unique buns that they offer and I heard their milk tea was good too. They also serve pretty and cute cakes (they have Durian cake for you durian lovers! ).

Green Tea Sponge Cake. I wouldn't have ordered this if it didn't have the cute cat stamp on the top - glad I got it!

This Chinese bakery looks more modern than most. I visited during lunch hour and they had two people working and there was no shortage of buns/pastries. I came to try the award winning milk. It was smooth but it was a little stronger than I prefer. I think the price was above average (closer to the $3 mark). They also really take their time making it (which can be a good and bad thing). If I come again, I would call ahead to order my milk tea. I also ordered a green tea sponge cake. It was great, light flavour but you can still taste the green tea. It was very soft, not too moist and not crumbly (I hate crumbly cakes!) The little cat stamp on the top was the best part :)

I have been here several times. It is located one block east of Woodbine and 16th Avenue on the southwest corner, in a small plaza. The parking there is limited especially during lunch time. Atmosphere 3.5/5 Pretty average for a Chinese bakery maybe slightly modern than the Lucullus. Service 3/5 They are alright. Sometimes it is good but sometimes it is bad depending on who is there. Food 3.5/5 It is pretty good depending on what you get. I like their egg tarts. Their curry beef bun is good. I do fine their buns a bit more fluffy or airy. Overall they are pretty good especially for the area price wise it is slightly more expensive than other places. Definitely will come back again.

    Matcha Cheesecake
    Karen K.

Ordered a birthday cake, the Matcha Cheesecake ($35). Their cakes are a little bit more expensive than other bakeries, but they did look good, and I've heard good things about their cakes. They have small one piece cakes if you ever want a small dessert. I did enjoy the matcha cheesecake, but wish that the matcha was more sweet. Their buns are different than other bakeries and I like the variety of buns that they serve. They have a small seating area and serve some drinks on the side. They have free parking since they're located inside a plaza. I'd come back and try some of their Chinese buns and possibly the small slices of cakes.

Recommended by my Yelpie friends, located in a corner plaza at 16th east of Woodbine. Lots of cake selections and prices are reasonable. Cakes only come in one size, all around $30. The birthday plaques are piped on white chocolate. The egg tarts were so delicious. The pastry crust is crispy and thin, and the filling is not overly sweet. Will come back to try their award winning milk tea next time!

Speed read: 1) HK style bakery that try to go high end 2) Above average price and quality 3) Award winning HK style tea and YinYang YinYang: It is a blend of coffee and milk tea in a single cup. 30% filtered coffee, 60% tea, 5-10% evaporated milk I had the HK milk tea the first time I visited. I would prefer a stronger tea taste. Second time I visited, I had the egg tart and YinYang. I have a chance to talked to the owner who won the Tea and coffee contest. He explained to me the HK style milk tea serve in the store were toned down to satisfy most of the customers who preferred the tea to be not too strong. The owner recommended me to try their sweet potato buns and the almond croissant, which at that time I was too full to try, but I will go back. The price of the drinks and baked goods are more expensive than the typical HK bakery. However, I found the quality to be better (in the bread texture and taste). If the owner is reading this, I wish they would serve the award winning HK style tea or YingYang (perhaps as a special events, i.e. Yelp events :) I would love to try them.

Was close by and visited to check out the local bakery. Was described to be fancier than a regular bakery online - I would definitely say that it's definitely trying. They offer rolls, mini desserts, buns, hk tea, and cakes. The buns were priced more about 30% more than other bakeries but didn't try any so not sure about the taste or quality. Tried their chestnut tart, mango roll, and hk tea. The mango roll was light and tasty, but I'm not a fan of the slightly tart mango filling. The hk tea was okay. The tart was definitely not as good as the one from Duo. The top cream part was more cream than chestnut and seemed to lack in chestnut flavour. One really nice thing is that the staff who served me was very nice. Carefully explained to me about their use of nuts due to a nut allergy. He seemed very aware of the processes that the bakery used. I would come back due to convenience to try a few more items, but probably wouldn't purchase the tart again. One thing that is very lacking is a menu with prices as I didn't see one. I had to ask if they had hk tea and the cost. There was no display indicating what they sold. Isn't that strange? Or maybe I missed it? But you would think that what you could order should be the most obvious display? There is minimal seating so not good for groups.

    Tiramisu
    Natalie T.

The tiramisu was pretty and tasty. You taste hints of alcohol along with the smooth and creamy cheese. The taste of coffee/espresso was not over whelming. I didn't like how the layers were not even. The chocolate decorations however tasted cheap...like they were made from melted chocolate coins. I would like to come back and try other stuff.

The tray of pork floss buns hits the perfect sweet, salty, and fragrant balance. The fried chicken bun was a standout. Crispy juicy chicken with mayo inside a slightly sweet bakery bun is an unstoppable combo. The Garlic Hot Dog was pretty average since I couldn't taste any garlic at all. The curry bun could use more filling, but the pastry itself was flaky and flavorful. The cheese chicken bun was huge and super satisfying. We got it fresh so the outside was crisp and the cheese stayed gooey. We also grabbed their famous egg tarts. They kept selling out and the kitchen was scrambling to keep up, so we pre-ordered and came back thirty minutes later to pickup. Totally worth it. The crust is flaky and buttery and the filling is silky and creamy. In our opinion, these are the best egg tarts in the city.

Green tea mochi compliments it very well too -[Ham & Egg Bun]: 10/10 - didn't get a photo of it but the egg is so silky that it looks likr a giant rectangular prism of pudding instead of egg.
