Went here with friends and one of my kids. Quite a big place with lots of seats, pretty loud too but all good, many kids inside. When you enter the place the kitchen is at the back and it's pretty open. You can seat yourself and order, menu is on a QR code. Got my taro dessert I've been craving for and my kid got the strawberry ice cream with Oreo. I feel like the taro needed way more of the balls and sago. The strawberry one was really good actually, it was quite large and didn't expect it. Pricing is a little on the high side, that was over $10. HK Dessert shop, expanded to include hot savoury foods, and childrens cooking classes, available at this Unionville flagship location only. While I'm not particularly fond of most Asian desserts, this spot has a very fun variety to choose from, including ice cream based, soy bean pudding (tofu fa), eggettes, and pillows. To date, I believe I've tried at least one flavour variety of each of category, my personal favourite being the Mixed Fruit bowl; I don't usually like sago pearls but the pomelo mango sago is quite delicious. Food is not super super sweet, just the way most Asians prefer dessert. Their savoury food menu is small, they've recently expanded to include steamed dishes as well, which is more suitable for those who prefer less fried foods. I've had almost all of their savoury foods, with the exception of a few of the new steamed ones. Of the savoury menu, my favourites are: popcorn chicken, phoenix shrimp, Portuguese chicken, stewed pork belly, braised beef, steamed chicken and mushroom. The flavours are tasty, and portions are fantastic for their price. My LO has also attended several of the kids cooking classes, and has a lot of fun. The cooking classes are capped, to ensure a fun, personalized, guided experience for everyone. Price is also reason for what is included, the "cooking", the food to eat or take home, and kid size dessert, and a Little Star Chef apron, and occasionally a bonus gift (our last mooncake class came with a cute Chinese paper lantern). I can't believe it took me so long to try Honeymoon! A franchise from Hong Kong, it specializes in Chinese desserts: both modern and traditional. If you're in the mood for savoury, it's also got lots of snacks and rice sets. The restaurant itself is very bright and spacious, perfect to grab a quick bite or hang around with friends. I got the almond tea (not a tea, more like a hot sweet soup) and my partner got the osmanthus milk custard. The almond tea hit the spot, especially as it's getting chilly outside. The custard was creamy, rich, and really satisfying. I would love to try their steamed rice sets one day, they look bomb. The only hiccup was that I had a slight communication issue with the server. I like that this location is an actual restaurant and not a takeout counter with some seating. For the Scarborough location, certain menu items weren't available, which was such a bummer. There's a wall of windows on the side of the entrance and some windows along the other wall, making the space really bright. The service was on the slow side when I went a couple of weekends ago. They seemed short on staff, and the server that we had kept forgetting things that we requested (like another drinking glass, extra cutlery, etc.). In terms of food, they have actual meals, not just desserts. The lunch dishes are $12.99 and include black sesame soy milk and a soft beancurd dessert. However, we did not receive the soft beancurd dessert. There are also Asian snacks available from 11 a.m. until late at night. We ordered the 48-hour pork belly stew and Taiwanese popcorn chicken. For dessert, we shared the snowball mochi. This is three scoops of Kawartha Dairy strawberry ice cream wrapped in a mochi skin. It's definitely a shareable dessert. This review is similar to my Yelp elite experience. I returned today to get another signature fruit black tea. Ever since Honeymoon Dessert set up shop in Markham, I have flagged going there. A Yelp elite experience pushed me to head over there on a Sunday afternoon, and I returned today for another yummy beverage. Honeymoon Dessert (HD) is where Menchie's used to be for years. It's nice that the dessert baton has been handed over. HD opens at 3 pm every day. It's a later start than its counterpart in Scarborough (noon). After cooking up a storm and having lunch on Sunday, I felt like dessert. I rarely go out on Sundays, but the thought of coming here was the best reason to get out of the house. There was plenty of parking. I backed into a spot and walked over. I saw outdoor seating that was covered. The weather looked gloomy and threatened rain, so I had a plan to enjoy my goodies outside. The man at the podium, steps away from the main door, was friendly. I indicated that I was here for the Yelp elite perk. He nodded and asked if I wanted the black or green tea. The night before, fellow Yelper, Shubhi, thanked me for the location tip, and recommended the black tea. Since I find black tea more fragrant, I went with it. He asked that I take a seat as my dessert and drink were being prepared. He didn't ask for my name. It may be the first experience where there was so much trust by not asking for it! It was fascinating sitting there, people-watching. It seemed so normal seeing folks enjoying their desserts and drinks indoors. I was perhaps waiting there for ten minutes at around 3:30 pm and watched the tables fill up. The nice man walked over to me, and delivered my goodies. I thanked him and walked out the door. There are three tables outside. I took the middle one and looked at McDonald's that I often frequent, but have never spent time looking at it within fairly close range. I started with the strawberry tiramisu cheese sorbet with ice cream. The texture was enjoyable. There was shaved iced with corn flakes. At times, I couldn't tell if I was crunching ice or corn flakes, but I loved the experience. I frankly felt that sorbet in this dessert's name is misleading. It's dairy galore! Sorbet would indicate that it's dairy-free, but I couldn't truly find the sorbet. The cream layers that would normally be mascarpone cheese was a cross between yogurt and condensed milk. It worked, but isn't sorbet if you're going with its definition. The sliced strawberries were fresh and delightful. I liked the strawberry ice cream on top. I was happy. The dessert wasn't overly sweet, so I did not experience a sugar high, followed by a massive sugar crash. The signature fresh fruit black tea was refreshing. I have never seen so much fruit packed into a cup, as if it were a clown car, but without the wheels or clowns. There were watermelon chunks, apple slices, lemon, lime, and passion fruit. My tastebuds were so happy. It was naturally sweet from the fruit and I don't think that any sugar was added. Delicious! I am craving getting one right now! Today, I was craving the signature fruit black tea and revisited the store. I had a woman at the podium who took my order. My drink was just over $6 with tax. I paid using my debit card. I tapped and was good. She said that my drink would take two minutes. Although I wasn't in a rush, my drink took more like twelve minutes. She came over and handed me two bags. I actually touched the drink and realized that it wasn't mine. I let her know that I only had one drink and said that perhaps it was the woman's order. She was sitting to my right. It was weird that she had taken both our orders and didn't know who had what. Anyway, two minutes after that weirdness (hey, it did take two minutes, but after confusion on the woman's part), I got my drink. The long spoon was taped to the top of the lid. She had napkins around the cup that she was holding. I loved how careful she was. I thanked her and happily walked out the door with my drink. With drinks, this place does not supply straws. I had a long straw from Starbucks in my car and used it. When I'm driving, I need a straw. Chugging a drink back can be dangerous! I actually grazed my elbow across my drink and busted the straw. I took the tape that secured my spoon and wrapped it around the busted area so I could suck my drink again. Call me MacGyver... haha! I'm so glad that I can finally say that I've been to this Hong Kong-style dessert place at long last! I love the real fruit black tea. I need to branch out and try the green tea next. I got the big strawberry mochi and then we had all had gotten different desserts to eat individually and it had tasted really good and delicious. The service was also super good and attentive. The strawberry tiramisu cheese sorbet was topped with sweet strawberries, corn flakes underneath with slices of real cheesecake and a scoop of ice cream on top. Not something I would usually get, but after having this would definitely get it again! The signature fresh fruit black tea was also very refreshing with slices of fruit inside. I couldn't quite put a finger on all the flavors but it all just worked together. Great service and great food! tried the mango pillows, strawberry tiramisu cheese sorbet, and the signature fruit black tea!!! Greeted immediately and was given water by the friendly staff and took our orders. The decor had a very homey and modern feel to it (not to mention an excellent color scheme!), offering both indoor and outdoor seating and even sanitizer at every table. The mango pillows were tasty, about what you'd expect (large sweet mango slices with some cream put together) but was a bit pricey for the portion (2 for $9). On the bright side, they look a bit like boiled eggs when cut open so makes for a fun picture! the strawberry tiramisu sorbet was phenomenal!! Pretty good portion for a dessert at a good price ($8 ish). Came with some strawberry ice cream and some corn flakes (haha). The sorbet itself was soo good. I usually don't go to dessert places (and was literally talking about it) but when I tried the sorbet got me pulling a 180. super creamy and cheesy and great for the price. Def a recommend. Lastly, tried the fruit black tea, super sweet and tasty and came with an assortment of fruits in the drink! price was around what you'd expect for a drink of it's size ($6) but was good. Again though, nothing super phenomenal but about what you'd expect for some decent to good fruit tea from any bubble tea place. Got seated fairly quickly though since we were a small party of 3 at 9pm on a Saturday. If you're a bigger party, good luck. As for the service, it was very good. One of the staff members who were seating guests also took our order and was very good at multi-tasking. I was impressed to say the least. Food itself was good too - I got the Mango Pillows and a mango purple rice dessert. Oh my. The lack of organisation is insane. There was a huge line at the front and it was not designated as to whether people were waiting to be seated, waiting to order take out, or waiting to pick up take out. Once we got to the front and was seated, we had to wait a super long time to get menus. Other tables that were seated 15-20 min after us got water and we never did the entire time. They had two staff members at the front and 3+ in the kitchen. The two staff were rotating manning the cash and ordering at the front and waiting on tables and bringing food and takeout out. We felt so bad for the staff because they were very flustered and definitely needed better management. One would stand in the back and wait for orders to be made and to pack them for takeout. While the other was running around trying to take orders, seat people, clean tables, and everything else in between. Why would you waste man power just waiting for the kitchen to make dishes. They were just standing there waiting for the longest time. Anyway, the staff were friendly and apologised many times for the delay and wrong dishes being brought out. Anyway, the desserts are good and I do like them but waiting over an hour for a mango pomelo grass jelly and mango pillow pancake is a bit extreme :( We have been here before and service is always great but a bit slow. Really wanted to like this place, but after coming here 3 times and ordering different things, it has been such a disappointment. First time take out, I only ordered durian pancake and a drink but somehow they made me pay for a durian pancake + mango pancake + drink. Maybe my fault cause I didn't check the price when I paid and just paid whatever they asked for, and didn't notice till I got my food at home and checked the receipt. Normally I wouldn't mind if I liked mango pancakes, but mangos make me break out, so I can't even have it (and I had to pay for it when I didn't even want it) also I was super disappointed at the SIZE of the pancakes, they are TINY and has a lot of cream inside. Definitely rather go to fullhouse dessert for the pancakes! 2nd time gave them another chance, dessert for nothing special to write about so I was willing to not write anything bad and would come back. 3rd time because of an Instagram ad for a new dessert with peach gum (which I love making but find it hard to clean, so I was happy to find a place that sells it) however what I got was all liquid and 2 pieces of peach gum inside. This is my first time at Honeymoon Dessert all thanks to a yelp elite event. As part of the event, I got the signature fruit black tea and the strawberry tiramisu cheese sorbet. In addition to that I also got the Mango mochi. I came on a Sunday evening and it was quite empty and we got seated immediately. The interior of this place is sooo cute and looks modern and clean. It gave major trendy cafe vibes and I'm all for it. I'm a big durian fan so I wanted to try the mochi or the durian pillow but sadly they were out of both! I had to opt for the mango mochi instead which was pretty decent and had actual mango chunks in it! The strawberry tiramisu cheese sorbet of course looks beautiful and the strawberry tasted super fresh. I personally am not a fan of the cheese layer at the bottom as I was expecting more of a cream cheese consistency, but it tasted more like solidified cottage cheese. The cornflakes however gave the dish a nice crunch. The star of the show here is definitely the signature fruit black tea. At first I was confused why they gave me a tiny spoon instead of a straw but I was informed that you just sip the tea and use the spoon to eat the fruits. There were huge fruit chunks in the tea and it was refreshing and oh so good. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and the tea was highlighted really well. I absolutely loved it. A bit pricey from that perspective. Came here over the weekend with my son to do the mochi making class. He had a blast! Apron was provided and the instructor showed the kids how to make the mochi. Each kid cut up the fruits (strawberries and mangos) and mixed it up in whip cream. They rolled out the mochi dough and put it inside. They each made 2 strawberry, 2 mango and 2 Oreo mochi to take home. There was a small dessert after and story time as well. Glad they have these special classes (previously had moon cake, cake decorating classes etc) and looking forward to another one in the future. It is not watery and there is a strong aroma from the almond. The egg white is also soft and is mixed in well with the dessert. The dessert itself deserves a 5/5. Such a great experience at Honeymoon Dessert. All the staff there were exceptionally polite, attentive and friendly. We have been to many HK dessert places in the area and thought it would be similar, but the desserts blew us away. The flavours were so unique. We ordered the mango pomelo sago sweet soup with bean curd. The tofu bean curd was so silky and added such a great texture to the dessert. We also tried the strawberry tiramisu cheese sorbet which was so good and creamy. The cornflakes were crunchy, the cheesecake bites on the bottom totally adds to it. I don't usually order strawberry desserts but I wouldn't hesitate to order this again. We also had the signature fruit green tea. This cafe was one of my bookmarked places to visit and I finally did :) I actually had been wanting to visit when they ran the promotional giveaway for the mango pillows. I was rather enticed to try the durian pillows. They also ran $2 signature drinks too. I stopped in because they have a lovely range of strawberry desserts, had the strawberry tiramisu with ice cream and the signature drink green tea. My companion ordered the almond tea with egg white, which is a Hong kong variety dessert. The interior is done well with a modern industrial interior theme. The ceiling is done well and the overall acoustics in the space gives a nice undertone of hushed inaudible conversations; it reminds me of the University of Guelph Science Complex atrium which carries lovely inaudible sounds-relaxing. The employees are all dressed in matching uniform which is so cute! I mean the yellow theme and I mean uniforms may seem overrated from the fast food scene but not here. You know who works there and everyone is lively and energetic -I love it! The desserts are large size portions so with price, when you are paying $9 it isn't sample size. I would say the desserts can also be shareable. The strawberry tiramisu with ice cream had strawberries and ice cream with a drizzle of strawberry syrup. The dessert had whole milk with shaved milk and frosted flakes. The frosted flakes are genius because it holds its crunch integrity. At the base was the sponge cake based tiramisu. Personally I would have likes it at the side of the dessert, being the heaviest component because I can imagine a customer making it to the bottom with no stomach space for it. The sponge cake wasnt soggy! The signature drink was delightfully sweet with the fruit variety, the large size drink makes the price tag pretty worth it and the to go container is convenient. Some fruits I found include gala apple (holds the crisp),lemon, lime, watermelon, orange, passion fruit. I was surprised watermelon was there because it would be an expensive fruit in hongkong. I would have liked papaya. The almond tea egg white was very good, taste just like the one in hong kong says my dessert eating companion. I didnt get a picture it was gone before I could snap a photo. The employee was so nice to give me the story of the store location, it is one of many franchise locations from hong kong. All the desserts are made in the morning so sweetness is not customizable. Their aim is to bring these flavours for all ages and so when you look at the menu there are items that are kid friendly and items that would appeal to the older population-as what was the case with my dessert companion. Only wishlist request I have is just a sweetness customizable option and signature drink in washable glasses for dine in. We can be sustainable :) Easy payment via tap. SNACK This is my first low rating of 2021. Ordered the Mango and Durian pancakes. The pancakes are minuscule in size! I've gotten fuller eating the free samples from Costco then this place. Also, they use a lot of cream filler and not much of the fruit inside. Definitely a pass on the pancakes if you are thinking of getting them and having a good day afterwards. Probably won't return unless I have a sudden craving for $28 worth of whipped cream. read more

Honeymoon Desserts ran a promotion of its fruit drinks recently. I admit that I was attracted by the low price tag of $2. But boy I was sold after the first drink. The drink tasted so refreshing, pure, and I couldn't, just couldn't believe how much fruit bits were in the drink that costed $2. So I went on a crusade to try out all 5 flavours (and for $2, why not?). Here is what I found out - Honeymoon has probably the absolute best fruit drink and best value fruit drink in Markham to date. The flavours are not many (only 5), but what they do, they do well. - For sweet drinks - go for Pitaya and Signature flavours. - For sour drinks - go for Kiwi and Red Grapefruit flavours. - The Rosemarie flavour tastes too similar to Kiwi in my opinion. It is the most fragrant because there is a whole straw of fresh Rosemarie in the drink, which is unexpected. The regular price of the fruit drink is $6. It is more than fair given the quality, portion and quantity of fresh fruit in the drink. I will buy again. read more
