I was excited to try the soft serve mix which happened to be matcha and rose, two flavours that I really like. It was refreshing and not too sweet, but I would have liked a more intense matcha flavour. The rose flavour actually overpowered the matcha a bit. I will be back to try the white peach and any other rotational flavours :)
I was looking for a cafe to get some work done and stumble in to this place. They offer a variations of matcha drinks and ice cream. They also have some pastries and sandwiches. I got the yuzu hojicha drink and I really liked it. It had a strong yuzu flavour, lightly sweet and very refreshing. My partner got the sesame matcha drink which was also really good, it had a strong sesame flavour. Their chairs weren't super comfortable and seating was kind of tight, but lots of plugs for laptop. They were consistently busy on a Sunday night. I would definitely come back and try their matcha ice cream and other things.
This place has very limited seats available. But if you are able to grab seats and don'tmind the tight space, it's a nice chill place to hang out. The menu has a mixture of drinks and snacks. I ordered the white peach jasmine tea and found it refreshing and enjoyable. The only other thing is, I wished they would open later. Closing at 10 pm is too early for a Friday night in a busy hub.
Came in for a matcha and the store was busy! Right when you walk in you can see the different matcha products they have for sale. You'll need to walk to the back of the store to place your order. I opted to a strawberry matcha oat latte, since I saw a sign outside promoting this drink. I'd give it a 3.5/5, as the strawberry milk portion overpowered the matcha flavour a lot. Couldn't really get the full grasp of their matcha profile/ flavour as well (in my opinion, a tad weak). However, the interior was nice and I'd still want to come back to try their matcha ice cram.
The service was very pleasant. The person working was so knowledgeable and took the time to answer any questions we had regarding the matcha they have. He was very patient and friendly. The place had a nice calming ambiance. We ordered the roasted matcha, black sesame matcha and the osmanthus coffee latte. All three were really good. The matcha was silky and the coffee latte was smooth and strong. We enjoyed the delicate hint of the osmanthus with every sip of the latte. They also have option for lactose free milk and soy milk. Overall, we'd come back again to try their other drinks in the future.
It's never too cold for ice cream for me, and I've been craving anything matcha lately. The green tea flavor is strong and not too sweet, the mochi was perfectly chewy, and the red bran is just a classic paring with green tea. The rice crispies in the Mont Blanc adds a nice crunch and texture, but we prefer just having more of that matcha ice cream, lol. It's a small cup but hits the "something sweet post dinner" feeling!
Come for the desserts and drinks but skip the savoury foods/sandwiches. We stopped by for a snack and they only had the octopus and chicken sandwiches left. It was expensive for the portion size. The chestnut (mont blanc) was tasty but there was a huge hole in the middle with no icecream!
Love coming here for their matcha, so rich with flavour but not too sweet. Finally got to try the Mont Blanc and it was perfect! The combination with the matcha and genmaicha together was delicious! Is a much smaller shop with limited seating, but the staff is so friendly and kind. Our parfaits came out so quickly
Love coming here for their soft serve. I ordered their shiratama parfait with the mix option. Their current seasonal flavour is rose tea so I got a mix of that and matcha. The rose tea flavour was sooo good, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did but it was the perfect mix of floral, sweet, and tea flavoured. I love how nothing tastes artificial. For around $10, it's a pretty solid place to grab some dessert. The only downside is that they have very limited seating here. We got lucky because a table was just leaving as we arrived, so we managed to snag a small table to sit and chat. But it still gets very crammed in there when there's usually a line that runs along the same area as their seating. This spot is best if you're coming to hang with one person, otherwise it's not very accommodating for groups due to the limitations of their space. Even still, you might not score a seat right away especially if you're coming during peak hours. read more
What better way to enjoy the sunniest day we've had in months with ice cream! It was 23° out, so I was craving some soft serve. Visited this cafe and got their shiratama matcha & pistachio swirl parfait. The pistachio & matcha flavours were both very strong and went well together! I loved the red bean layer, and I like how it came with 6 mochi balls (great chewy texture). Would love to come back and try their matcha drinks. The black sesame matcha and red bean layer+ crystal jelly matcha caught my eye! Note that the space is small and there are only a few tables to sit around. read more

There was a lil bit of a wait. Wish i was greeted before waiting in line... i got one of their new drinks black sesame matcha latte but since i wanted ice cream with it i topped my drink. I wish the black sesame was a lil more smooth. Over all it was a good drink. read more

Warm sunny days had me thinking about ice cream. Daigyo came to mind. They have a Premium Houjicha Series where you can get hot or cold lattes and soft serve ice cream. Count me in! Was it worth it? Oh yeah. I wish they had a bigger size but it sweet treat for anyone who likes sweets. read more

The black Sesame matcha was made fresh. The matcha parfait was delicious and the perfect portion. There's limited seating inside. Parking available, but busy lot since there are many eateries in the Plaza. read more

It's always busy, but worth the wait. Love their strawberry matcha, white peach smoothie/matcha float, and the purple sweet potato sando. Not the friendliest service, but they're efficient. read more

Daigyo is a great spot for desserts and their ice cream particular is delicious, as for me personally their specialty items and drinks are not as enjoyable Their matcha ice cream (not pictured) is always delicious and has a strong matcha taste (although not as strong as tsujiri). Their m'ont blanc parfait which was on special menu was not that great. The ice cream itself was good but the thing on top (the mint blanc) was tasting a bit dry as of it was old. Midland Avenue, between Finch and Steeles in Scarborough, has a ton of Asian restaurants, bubble tea spots, and much more. We stopped in to one of these plazas to explore their offerings, looking for something light. We ended up at Daigyo Cafe, a place that my friend had in mind for a while. This spot offers a lot of tea based drinks and a small selection of Japanese pressed sandwiches. She had the Shiratama Parfait and I had the Hazelnut Coffee Latte. Both were delicious, even though I'm not a fan of matcha or tea of any kind. I enjoyed my coffee latte! The ambiance is clean, neat, modern, and cozy, with a few tables. I am always a huge fan of daiyo! When I saw this in Scarborough, I was excited to try ! I decided to opt in to add matcha ice cream in my drink. The matcha ice cream matched very well with my matcha sesame drink. If you are a huge fan of matcha and like strong matcha flavour, this will not disappoint! read more

This cafe is the perfect spot to enjoy matcha and hojicha! I tried their newly launched Hojicha soft serve and latte, and they were absolutely delicious. Their hot press sando is definitely worth a try too. My only wish is that they had more tables in the cafe! Staff are friendly too. read more
New little drink/ice cream shop. Staff is friendly and food is yummy. Ambiance is average. They have a few tables for you to sit for a short time to finish your drink or food. A little on the pricy side. The parfait is $8.50 plus tax and the size is small. read more
New cute spot with a delicious menu for all Matcha (and peach lovers) to enjoy! Clean insides and bathrooms! Small but just what you need to sit down with some friends or grab and go! Grand opening review! Located at Sky City Shopping Center in Scarbs. My gf and I were just looking for a washroom at Sky City when we stumbled upon a fairly long line up outside this unit. It just so happened to be the grand opening of Daigyo Cafe's scarbs store which was cool. We waited maybe 15 min in line before we were able to order? Which was not too bad. Our eyes lit up when we saw BOGO (buy 1, get 1 free) on the sign outside the shop but in tiny letters it said *For the first 100 customers* hahaha, which they obviously were way past 100 customers by the time we were in line. I opted for the store exclusive jasmine white peace ice cream. My gf was thirsty so she got the yuzu o-matcha drink. The ice cream was excellent! Florally, not too sweet and the peach flavour was very pronounced. The yuzu flavour was definitely much stronger than the matcha in the drink. The grand opening pricing was great! Even though we didn't qualify for BOGO we got 30% off our order. I think at regular price, the items would be kinda pricey tbh. read more

As someone who loves soft serve ice cream, Daigyo was a real treat to visit. The wait to order was short, and service was prompt and friendly. The seating is limited and very cozy, and we were able to secure a spot at the window for a while. I visited in the winter, so I'm looking forward to visiting again now that the weather is getting warmer! read more

My husband and I were in the area so we decided to try it after hearing my friends. It was Friday noon so there aren't anyone. We had the matcha softie ice cream with espresso shot. The Softie itself has a very strong matcha, it's the best by far what I have tried in Toronto. Service was great ... I wish I didn't have lunch otherwise we can order more! I will definitely bring my kids to there next time! read more

Stopped in here for some dessert. We just ordered the summer special Jasmine White Peach soft serve. Wow, such a good flavor and it's not too sweet! You can definitely taste the Jasmine and peach! Must try! Hopefully can try the other items next time. read more
I was so excited a few weeks ago when I saw that Daigyo was opening up in Skycity Shopping Centre. I visited the day before their their grand opening, when they were offering a buy one get one special on select items. The cafe is cutely decorated. Seating is limited. I really enjoy the variety of matcha tea drinks and desserts that Daigyo offers. They have some of the best selection of matcha and houjicha drinks that can be found in the GTA. Their matcha soft serve is satisfying as it provides a strong matcha finish. I also really like their houjicha latte, which at one time was one of the few places where I could find this drink. This location offers Japanese pressed sandos and coffee based drinks (including an affogado). I ordered the yuzu citron smoothie (which comes as a float option too). I opted for this which was caffeine free and very refreshing on a hot summer evening. I look forward to frequenting this café, which is closer to home as compared with the other location in North York. read more
A great new Japanese dessert option in the Midland/Finch area! They serve a variety of drinks and desserts, including espresso beverages and matcha parfait. They also have a small selection of snack-sized grilled sandwiches. Their matcha desserts are tasty, not too sweet, and high quality, and I highly recommend getting the soft serve with both the matcha and the jasmine white peach mixed. The latter is apparently exclusive to the Scarborough location and its floral nature pairs well with the slight bitterness/earthniness of the matcha. There's a couple of tables and seats inside and the decor is nice. Service is also friendly and quick. All in all, a great new dessert spot to hang out with friends and enjoy some cold desserts to beat the summer heat! read more
Newly opened in the plaza, it was very crowded on Saturday night but service was fast and friendly. Love their limited peach jasmine ice cream flavors, definitely recommend getting that! There are a few seats to sit, but space is limited like most shops in this plaza. So glad they are now in scarborough! read more

I think this might be one of the best matcha ice cream places I've come across in a long time! This location has a location exclusive flavour which hs the white peach soft serve. As I wanted to try both I got the twist (matcha & white peach) in both of thejr parfaits - Daigyo parfait and Shiratama parfait. Both were absolutely delicious! The differences in the parfait are due for the different toppings in each - one has Rice Krispies cereal and matcha syrup vs the other one has mochi, red bean and brown sugar syrup. Service was friendly and we got our parfaits quickly. There is some seating available inside for dine in. Next time we will definitely come try their matcha drinks and sandwiches! read more
New location with exclusive ice cream flavours! I'd say this has got to be the best ice cream I've had in a while. It taste like I was drinking something once it enters the mouth, this isn't to say the ice cream was melts, in fact it was very solidly made for a soft serve mmm!! Highly recommend.
