Yuzu lemonade, cherry chocolate - Two clear plastic cups contain matcha drinks with ice cubes. The drink in the front has a yellowish base with a green layer on top, garnished with a lemon slice. The second cup has a similar layered appearance with a green top. Both cups have the word 'MATCHA' printed on them and are set on a dark surface, likely in a cafe or food stall setting.

Matcha is all the hype right now. This place has unique options, and the drinks are pretty good. If you're driving by and looking for parking, it's really hard to find the place, as there's no signage on the place. When you order, it's all done on the iPad, the staff working are typically busy preparing orders. I'd recommend studying the menu before going in if possible.

Two individuals are holding matcha drinks, one in a clear plastic cup with a lid and straw, and the other in a green paper cup with a lid. They are standing outside a cafe with large glass windows, and the background shows parked cars, a sidewalk, and a bright, clear sky. The scene suggests a casual outdoor coffee or tea outing.

This was our first visit to Matcha Matcha. We tried a cold Hojicha Latte and a hot Hojicha Cheesecake. They currently have a promotion where you buy one and get the other at 50% off, which is a nice deal. However, both items felt a bit underwhelming since we've had similar ones elsewhere before. The cheesecake flavor was especially hard to notice, making it a little disappointing. That said, we're still looking forward to coming back and trying other flavors next time!

A digital order screen at a coffee shop displays two latte orders: Strawberry Hojicha Latte and Cherry Chocolate Hojicha Latte, each priced at $8.50. The screen shows options to edit or remove items, adjust quantities, and enter promotional codes. The total for two items is $19.20. The background includes part of the counter and other equipment, indicating a cafe or coffee shop setting.

TLDR: Great matcha drinks but tbh I think their hojicha might ranker higher in my heart than their matcha HAHA -[ICED CHERRY CHOCOLATE HOJICHA] $7.50 I like to get mine made with oat milk (+$1) but I imagine works well with regular milk too. I tried their hojicha drinks when they were doing BOGO50% off but holy moly, their cherry chocolate hojicha is the PERFECT drink. I was enamored from the first sip and I will 100% be getting it again even at full price -[ICED STRAWBERRY HOJICHA] $7.50 I actually got it at -$4.25 because of the aforementioned BOGO50% off but had this one made with oat milk too. Their strawberry syrup is on the sour end when compared to the cherry so keep that in mind. Still very solid but the cherry one definitely has my heart. The placement of the ordering station vs where you should wait is a little awkward in store but they are quite quick with their service. Still no sign on the front of their store but there is always a small crowd in store so try to come during off hours :D

Matcha ice cream and matcha latte - The image shows a cup of bright green matcha soft serve ice cream in a white container, with a wooden spoon inserted. Next to it, there is a clear plastic cup with a lid containing a layered matcha latte, with a green label reading 'mat-cha²' and 'MATCHA'. The background includes blurred figures of people, indicating a busy cafe or food court environment.

Food yummy? Favourable but not too sweet. Serving professional and efficient Ambiance restaurant is small mostly for takeout

I went to matcha matcha and ordered the strawberry hojicha. The service was pretty quick, but they ended up messing my order and forgot to add the fresh strawberries. They were very nice about it and let me keep the drink so I got 2 drinks for the price of 1. I thought the drink tasted okay but I wish it was sweeter and I would've liked if there was more strawberries. I also wanted to customize the amount of ice in the drink, but there was no option to do so on the order screen which I was kinda disappointed about as I would've opted to get light/no ice. The interior was okay. Seating was pretty limited, and the place was very busy. They also had a shelf showcasing their merchandise which included a hat and matcha bowls, which I thought was cool.

Absolutely gas. My mom and I got the BLU, Tokyo Fog and the ice cream. Both drinks were layered with different flavours and surprises. BLU started with a nutty & creamy uppercut of the fresh ube, shocking my taste buds, then the blueberries and lavender followed with subtle snap japs to the whole experience. The subtly sweet and bitter flavours of the Kyoto ceremonial grade matcha resurfaced at the end, finishing my taste buds on the ground with a kimura arm lock. Yet, I still walked away with a smile. The Tokyo fog had entirely different layers of experience--it was more like a musical duo of matcha and Earl Grey tea. It tasted like a song with harmonic parts. That fucking soft serve ice cream was also something else. I only wish they got some red beans and rice balls (dango) to complete the whole Ujikintoki experience like a proper Kyotoian, if you will. But man, Matcha Matcha was already more than good enough. I know using boxing and BJJ terminologies sounded rather ridiculous, but trust me, that whole journey of flavours was delightful and stunning. Matcha matcha was not cheap (everything was about 9 dollars including taxes), but man, that was very fun.

Banana Brûlée & Blu Matcha

Finally had the chance to try the much-hyped Matcha Matcha at their Markham location. We ordered the Banana Brûlée Matcha and Blu Matcha. Both drinks were quite sweet and tasted a bit artificial to me, the Banana Brûlée especially reminded me of banana medicine. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Blu Matcha, which had a pleasant taro-like and floral note, though I still couldn't pick up much of the actual matcha flavor in either drink. I also wish there was an option to adjust the sweetness level. The shop was very busy when we visited on a Friday evening, with a wait of nearly 30 minutes to order and receive our drinks. The space is small with limited seating, but it's nicely decorated and definitely Instagram-worthy. If you're planning a visit, be prepared for a wait during peak times. Overall, Matcha Matcha is an aesthetically pleasing spot with creative drinks, but if you're looking for strong or an authentic matcha flavor or customizable sweetness, you might be left wanting more.

Blu and soft serve - A colorful matcha drink in a transparent cup features a swirling pattern of purple and green, with the label 'MATCHA' on the front. The drink is placed on a dark, smooth table, with a blurred background that includes a small cup with a green soft serve or whipped topping and a wooden stir stick. The setting appears to be indoors, possibly in a cafe or restaurant.

Bring your patience when you visit. The store has been open for a few days, and there was still a line. In total, I waited for around 30 minutes from getting in line and getting my order. Service was actually pretty quick from ordering and receiving my order. I ordered the blu (blue + lavender) and got a free soft serve as part of their opening promotion. I loved the flavour of the soft serve but not the drink. I'll have to try another flavoured drink next time. I wish that we could choose the amount of ice in the drinks because the cup is almost filled with ice first and then the actual drink. There is some seating along the wall and window with small tables, but I feel that this is not a place to hang out for a long period of time. Parking is horrendous in this plaza. Each store only has a couple of parking spots dedicated to it, and there are times when there are pylons blocking the spots.

Two matcha drinks in clear plastic cups with lids are positioned on a black surface. The drink on the left appears to be a matcha latte with a white base and green tea on top, while the drink on the right has a pinkish layer at the bottom with green matcha on top. The background features a metallic, reflective surface.

I'm usually not a big matcha drinker but this is one of the better matcha's I've ever had - it didn't taste like grass. It wasn't too busy when we went, we only waited about 15 minutes. The seating area is small but still comfortable. The staff were friendly and took their time to make the drinks efficiently. The menu has a wide selection of different matcha flavors and they have milk substitutions. We had the Strawberry Matcha and the White Chocolate Pistachio Matcha. The Strawberry one balanced the bitter matcha flavor with sweet and fruity notes. The White Chocolate Pistachio was more creamy and had a nutty flavour. Both drinks balanced the flavor of the matcha and were a really good combination.

The sign features the name 'Matcha Matcha Lab' in bold green letters, with a detailed line drawing above and around it. The illustration includes trees, leaves, a teapot, and other nature-inspired elements, creating a thematic connection to matcha and natural ingredients. The sign appears to be indoors, with a person partially visible in front of it, wearing a light-colored hoodie.

I went to Matcha Matcha during their grand opening period, which they had buy 1 get 1 50% off before 2pm. The deal was great, but we waited 30minutes to order and get our drinks. This is the lab location and they have some tools display there which is cool and cute. I ordered Cheesecake & my friend ordered coco pandan. I love cheesecake, the cheese milk foam on top is yum and rich. However the coco pandan was okay, the coconut flavour was too strong so I couldn't taste the matcha, and it was bitter after some ice melted. I would highly recommend Cheesecake!

Strawberry Matcha latte, White chocolate pistachio matcha latte, Matcha soft serve

Went here with a friend -- the store is super compact and the line was out the door. Both the strawberry matcha latte and the white chocolate were on the blander side. It honestly just tasted like watered-down matcha, which was really disappointing, especially considering what I'd heard from my peers. The matcha soft serve, though, was super good -- it had a nice, rich matcha flavor and wasn't too sweet. Perfect.

Cheesecake matcha latte, almond croissant in the bag.

This place always looks busy every time I would pass by the area, and today I decided to finally try it. Overall, the cafes aesthetic is really good. The service was always impeccably fast. I got cheesecake matcha latte, as well as the almond croissant. I personally think the matcha is just OK. I do not think the powder that is used is that great. They have a variety of drinks that sound unique, but the one I tried today was not particularly tasty. I have not tried the original matcha latte here, and it will be something to get next time, but as for the specialty drinks, they do not resonate with my preferences. The almond croissant was also just OK. There was not nearly enough almonds to give it the almond-y taste that you would want. And lastly, the main point I want to include, is the price. The price is extremely expensive for what you get and I would say it is not worth the money.

Iced Matcha latte
Carol Y.

A bit of a let down, sadly. I visited Matcha Matcha at a foodie friend's recommendation. I was surprised by the prices, even for a standard matcha latte (over $7). They had a number of unique matcha drinks that looked intriguing, but I opted to try an unsweetened iced matcha latte, just so I could taste the matcha and gauge its flavour. The matcha flavour was rich, but it wasn't worth the price for me.

Finally, a proper matcha latte! Maybe I just really like my matcha bitter, but The Library…read moreSpecialty is one of the best places to go to for matcha. The service was prompt and efficient, and there were a few spots inside for seating. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon when we got there, but more people started coming in afterwards, and got some iced matcha (despite the cold, haha)! The hojicha latte was tasty as well, it tasted similar to the ones we had in Japan.

That level of care really comes through in the cup; you can taste the depth and intentionality in every sip. I ordered the vanilla bean iced latte, and it was easily one of the best espresso bases I've had in a while. The shot itself was rich and layered: deep, chocolatey, and nutty striking a really nice balance between bitterness and acidity. It finished with a smooth, almost creamy note that made the whole drink incredibly enjoyable. The only downside is the size-to-price ratio. At around CAD $8.50 for what felt like a 10 oz drink, it's definitely on the pricier side for something that goes down this easily. Still, I'd absolutely come back when I'm in the mood for a more premium coffee experience. (Funny note - the barista and I had a small rant together about how people order "iced cappuccino" and macchiato expecting Starbucks milk sugary drink instead of the "proper" shot with dollop of foam. I understand their pain hahah)

I ordered a pot of hand-drip "Melona." The first sip wasn't particularly amazing. But it was very clean. Slowly, the clear fruity aromas of honeydew melon and cantaloupe emerged, not overpoweringly acidic, but rather a gentle, restrained layering. It's the kind of coffee you find yourself drinking the whole pot without even realizing it. The space inside is also a big plus. The front area displays various coffee beans and related products, and a whole wall of transparent glass allows you to see the roasting factory in operation behind it. And their product line is incredibly comprehensive: coffee beans, equipment, instant coffee, canned coffee, espresso, and even ice cream (The most complete I've ever seen) I didn't have time to try many beans today, but I'm already looking forward to the Lychee flavor I'll be ordering in a few weeks More suitable for coffee enthusiasts (especially pour-over lovers) Clean flavor with detail, not the overly pleasing type Perfect for sitting alone for a long time
