A really cute and cozy brunch spot in Scarborough! The interior is so pretty that we were charmed immediately. They have quite an extensive menu including the typical brunch offerings alongside a variety of sandwiches, pasta, and pizza, so naturally we selected several options to try. Overall, we found everything delicious! The smoked salmon benedict came with a perfectly poached egg and a rich Hollandaise sauce. The spicy shrimp linguine was tossed in a mouthwatering cream sauce that had just the right amount of kick. I also have to give some extra points for presentation - the aesthetics were amazing and made the food that much more appealing. That being said, there wasn't anything truly impressive or unique (or perhaps I've been spoiled by the Toronto brunch scene). Service was excellent in the beginning (the staff was very sweet), but they took quite a long time to start bringing out food and drinks. We did feel very welcome and the vibe in the restaurant is relatively chill and laidback. Definitely a pleasant experience overall and a great way to spend a relaxed afternoon!
Came at lunch with friends. The space is clean and somewhat spacious. There was limited parking and the place was busy. We didn't have a reservation but I might recommend making one as there was only a couple of tables free when we arrived. The turnover is pretty fast, though, so you may not need to wait long if you just walk in and it's full. I got the chicken croffle, and my friends got the chicken sandwich, turkish eggs and the blue butterfly pea flower latte. The chicken croffle was really good; large portion of meat, and the croffle was very buttery and crispy. It's $6 more than the chicken sandwich but I would recommend it because it's such a larger portion and the croffle was good as well. The latter itself was very pretty, althogh the taste did seem quite diluted. My friend enjoyed it, so it may just be personal preference. Overall, was a good experience and would recommend going again.
I visited Karkumi Cafe on a weekday to catch up with friends, and it turned out to be a lovely place for a relaxing gathering. It's located in a quiet plaza with plenty of convenient parking, which makes it an easy meeting spot. There were outdoor patio, I think they might have outdoor seating available during summer and the café itself has a clean, minimalist design with a cozy, artistic atmosphere. The large floor-to-ceiling windows let in lots of natural light, making the space feel bright and comfortable. The menu offers a good variety of food and drinks, especially coffee. You can tell that care has gone into both the presentation and preparation of the dishes, and the ingredients are of good quality. Everything we ordered was well made and enjoyable. Overall, the service was good. However, there was one male staff member whose attitude and facial expressions could definitely be improved. My first experience with him almost made me decide not to return. Fortunately, on my second visit he wasn't there, and the overall experience was much more pleasant. Because of the convenient location and comfortable atmosphere, I'd still be happy to meet friends here again. One thing to keep in mind is that weekends can get quite busy and noisy, so if you're looking for a quieter experience, weekdays are definitely the better choice.
Very nice time at karkumi cafe. I went here for brunch with my boyfriend. For food we got the chicken and waffles and their big breakfast (its served in a dim sum tray so cute). I would really recommend their big breakfast as it comes with garlic bread, sweet potato fries, a salad and egg in the style of your choice. Service was very generous and speedy. I will be back to try more!! Bathrooms were also very clean!!
I've visited this place a couple of times now, and both the food and service have been consistently impressive. Everything comes out well-prepared, and the staff is attentive, which makes each visit enjoyable. The Mixed Berry Croffles with ice cream were a standout. Beautifully presented and just as delicious as they looked. The contrast of the crisp croffle with the cool ice cream and fresh berries made it a memorable dessert. The French Toast was another highlight. It came topped with caramelized banana, and the combination worked wonderfully. The crunchy caramel paired perfectly with the soft, sweet banana, and the addition of whipped cream brought the whole dish together. For mains, the Beef Burger Omurice and the Spicy Shrimp Linguine were both nicely executed. Portions were good, the ingredients were generous, and the flavours were satisfying without feeling heavy. Lastly, I enjoy their latte a lot. Rich coffee flavor with nice presentations. You can tell from the presentation alone that the chef takes pride in every dish. There is a level of care and creativity here that reflects genuine passion and solid cooking experience. Overall, this spot consistently delivers great food, thoughtful presentation, and reliable service. Highly worth a visit!
Spacious brunch spot tucked away with nice decor. i did find it to be quite noisy but appreciate that there were many tables. found the benny to be quite average, there's definitely better out there and not too far away. the highlight for me was the mushroom pasta - it was so good! the matcha was a bit chalky for me, but sweetness level was good. would consider returning to try some other menu items as there were many items.

Since we didn't have a reservation, we did have to wait a bit. It is a small cafe. They have more smaller tables which can be easily rearranged to larger tables. It gets very noisy very quickly. Service: 4.5/5 - other than the wait time in the beginning, it was good. They checked in on us quite a bit and was attentive. The have us plates to share. One of the plates was a little dirty. They changed it quickly and apologized. I also left something and didn't realize until one of the servers waved me down just as we were about to drive off. Super grateful for him! Food: 4/5 - they have both a physical menu and a QR code to order food. We used the QR code. The table next to us were given the physical menu. One side is in English. The other side is in Chinese. The servers working today can speak in Cantonese. We ordered the smoked duck breast benedict, chicken croffles and a hot hojicha latte. The smoked duck breast was the most flavourful of it all. The Hollandaise sauce was interesting. There's a flavor in it that I can't put my hand on. The chicken croffles was also good. It was my first time having croffles. Croffles = croissant pressed in a waffle maker. I tasted a slight bitterness aftertaste. The fried chicken was lightly battered and succulent and tender. I taste ginger, perhaps from the marinade. The portion size seem small but we were full off of the food. I liked the hot hojicha latte. Nice latte, flavour was mild and just enough sweetness. Price - $20-30 Overall: 4/5 - I would come back with friends and family
Food: I got the seafood pizza and mango slush. Food and drinks came out very fast. The pizza was thin crust and it had a nice creamy sauce. Service: They were attentive and quick to respond. Ambiance: The washroom was very nasty. It had a lot of paper towels and food particles in the sink, as if no one went in to check and ensure that it was clean. We even got a dirty plate when we requested extra plates so that we can share the food. Overall experience: 3 out of 5
We made a reservation but needed to wait and the table they gave us was too small for a group of 7 but they eventually moved us to another bench table. Food was decent but not that special. The pizza was not that good but the truffle fries were ok. Overall the food was only ok. Service was ok only given that we had to move as the table they put us originally was too tight.
Such a cute and quiet place! We went during brunch time on a weekday so didn't have a wait but as we were leaving it started to fill up. Great service, very kind and attentive. Now the the food was the BEST part. Tried the smoked duck breast Benedict and it was one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE meals. Can't beat the price and flavor. Also got the iced lychee tea with less sugar and ice and it was so refreshing and flavorful.
This cozy little spot is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy some seriously good food. We had: Fluffy blueberry pancakes A classic bacon and egg breakfast combo & And the crème brûlée latte? Flew into Toronto & hotel room weren't ready so we went here for Sunday brunch. Staff was extremely pleasant & service was 10/10. The place was clean, when we got there , the place was half filled but packed by time we left. The PurpleYam Latte was delicious art. Great to look at but even better to drink. The Truffle Mushroom Benedict was fire and now I want it every morning. I got some kind of pastry with cream & compote, it was ok to good but the TruffleBenedict made it barely memorable outside of the fact that I took a pic of it. Would definitely recommend this place.

Sad to say, there's more excitement from the menu and aesthetic than the actual food itself. Also, my first time at a restaurant where a waitress chucks garbage from another table onto your plate (on the table, in front of you, with food not yet finished) before taking it away. Spoiled the rest of the meal with that strange service. My wife and I came to Karkumi Cafe on a Wednesday morning, with surprisingly more patrons than expected. We thought this was a new brunch spot, but turns out it's been open for some time with some pretty great reviews so we thought we hit jackpot. The menu is split into the typical brunch categories (Bennies, Sandwiches, Salads, Pasta); not overly complex nor big. Karkumi does its own minor twist on the classics - Smoked Duck Breast / Beef Short Rib / Fried Shrimp Cake Bennies, but what caught our attention was what we ended up ordering. Spicy Shrimp Linguine with tiger shrimp and gochujang sauce sounds, on paper, very yum. What came out was an incredibly bland pasta with no spiciness detectable. Extremely thin slices of mushroom and barely noticeable bacon didn't do much to save the dish. Chicken Croffles were slightly better. Chicken was fried very nicely and season well throughout, though the dish could benefit from a little less batter. This was our first time trying croffles, but needless to say we were disappointed. While the outer layer was flakey for the perfect crunch, the inner layer was soggy and didn't seem to be cooked through yet. The dish comes with a syrup + spicy chipotle mayo-esque mayo, both very yum. For drinks, we ordered the Creme Brulee Latte and the Honeycomb Latte. Both were very smooth, creamy, and rich. We especially loved the honeycomb pieces overtop the latte - we're suckers for honeycomb! Needless to say, the drinks were the highlight of our meal. Service was slow, but it seemed like the kitchen was backed up even more after we got our food. Plenty of tables waiting for food, 15-20 minutes after ordering. We got lucky with timing, I suppose. I don't mind staying for the drinks, but will probably go elsewhere for satisfying brunch. read more

The so-so: Considering we arrived right when they opened, it took longer than expected for us to get our food. I tried their smoked duck breast benedict after reading some positive reviews about this speciality. I thought that the duck skin fat could have been rendered down more - it was a little hard to chew through a thick slab of fat. Part of me thinks that a roast duck breast benedict might work better. The short rib Benedict and the side salad and roasted potatoes were good, but in a very saturated brunch market, the food didn't stand out. I would be interested in coming back to try more of their drinks and their lunch items. read more

A friend of mine recommended Karkumi Cafe so you know I had to try it out! Arrived at about 12pm on a Sunday and was able to get a table for 2 right away. They do have an online waitlist on Google Maps, and strongly recommend that you do that for bigger tables as it was quite busy and I did see that larger tables had to wait a bit. Most of their tables were smaller - I only saw one table available for 6 but they may have just combined 2+4 person tables. Parking is also not the best. My fiance wasn't really hungry so we shared an app and a main together. I also got a black sesame latte and really enjoyed that - probably one of the better ones in the GTA. We shared the sweet potato fries that came with some cheese and spicy mayo, which was alright. Nothing too special about it but they were more than happy to give us additional mayo when requested. We also got the croque madame which was very delicious. There was a bit too much of the sauce for my preference since it made the toast a bit soggy (which I don't prefer) and it leaked onto the salad (though it still did taste fine with it). The ham has a smoky taste to it and was toasted to perfection! Overall I definitely would come back to try the other items - the clam linguine I wanted was sold out/unavailable when I went! read more
Karkumi Cafe, located near the intersection of Gordon Baker Rd. and Victoria Park Ave., serves up coffee, brunch and desserts in the Scarborough area. They open until 4pm on the weekdays and until 8pm on the weekends. Opened in Jan 2024, the menu offers small/light bites, brunch classics (think eggs bennies), and pastas. There is only indoor seating which seats about 40-50 customers. The entrance is not accessible as there are a few steps to navigate. My friend and I dined at Karkumi Cafe on a Monday late morning. The restaurant wasn't busy and I was able to get a table right away. The menu is available via a QR code on the table. To order, you are also able to place your order on their website which eliminates the need for you to call a server over. However, they do have physical menus and staff to order from as well if you prefer that. We ordered the following items: - Cortado - Chicken croffles (crispy fried chicken w/ croffles and maple syrup) - Crispy chicken pasta with basil pesto sauce (baby spinach, basil pesto sauce, and crispy chicken thigh topped with parmigiano). Food wise, our items were prepared at a reasonable time. We never felt rushed to leave as the place was not busy. In regards to the cortado, it was average. I'd say if you really want good coffee, this is not the place to order one unless you're desperate for a caffeine hit. My chicken croffles is what you'd expect it to taste like. There were 4 pieces of fried chicken (with a side of spicy mayo) and 3 pieces of croffle. Overall, decent dish. The fried chicken was crispy and the croffles were tasty. Service wise, the staff were friendly. Overall, decent place for brunch in the Scarborough area. Menu does offer a variety of items for everyone. read more
Love the chic white interior design with abstract art, fake greenery and grey chairs. It all blends together nicely. Even the washroom was not overlooked. Service was good, typical for not a busy Sunday brunch. The roasted potatoes were amazing!! I wish I had more!!!! The light salad complimented the dish. I had smoked duck breast Benny, sauce on the side which they remember. Everything tasted delicious!! Not salty at all. I would definitely go back if I'm in that area again. The place is pretty cute, and service was quick. You order on your phone and the billing works perfectly if you have a large group since you can order on your own devices. I got the short rib eggs benny, which was tasty but nothing too special. I liked the potatoes a lot - perfectly crispy on the outside and a bit softer on the inside. The chicken and croffles were delicious! The chicken was moist and the croffles were a really pleasant surprise. The ube latte was really pretty but ube flavour wasn't that strong. read more

3.5 Love the decorations and ambiance. Their menu has a variety of sandwiches, pastas, and eggs benedicts. They have a pretty nice drink selection as well ranging from coffees to black sesame lattes. We ended up getting two pastas, beef short rib benny, and a fried chicken sando. For drinks we got an iced americano, flat white, and blue butterfly pea latte. My beef short rib benny was nice and I really enjoyed the potatoes. The linguine was Al dente and had a nice amount of toppings. Sadly the chicken sandwich was very sad. The bread was size of our palm but the chicken within was a quarter of the size of the bread. Overall the meal was decent and coffee was good. Just wished the portions were better. read more

It's a new brunch spot in Markham (close to J Town) that I have discovered recently! It's decorated in a camping theme, several camping chairs are placed in front of the entrance for pictures and queue. So my favourite will be the all day breakfast, placed in a Chinese style dim-sum basket the sweet potato is amazing and the scramble egg was just right!!! I may tried their coffee in my next visit, but the matcha latte was milky, not the type with a strong tea flavour Staff are cheerful and willing to help! Will revisit again :) read more
The exterior doesn't do this new brunch spot that opened a month ago. As you walk in, it's so nice and relaxing. A hidden gem for sure! The service was so nice and friendly. Attentive but yet don't rush you. During soft opening they offer 10% discount until further notice and unlike many other restaurants, you can pay with your credit card with this discount. I ordered the smoked salmon egg Benedict, the garlic potatoes was delicious and piping hot! The eel pizza was more like a flat bread style but unique. The handmade ice lemon red tea was not too sweet nor sour. It was just right. I will definitely come back again to try other items on the menu. read more
A friend and I tried this restaurant for brunch on a weekday afternoon. It's pretty nice at 12pm as there's fewer people making it a nice spot to catch up over brunch. It was nice and open with lots of natural lighting. We ordered the fried chicken and croffle and creamy mushroom linguine with black truffle sauce. The fried chicken looked a bit dark and dry, but luckily it was juicy inside and the flavour was good, the salad would have been nice with more than one type of green. My friend had the pasta, she said it's good, but nothing too special or surprising. This is a nice spot to hang out and catch up over a coffee that's not high traffic. read more

If you're always out brunching like me, you have to give Karkumi Cafe a try! Their menu is very diverse, with the brunch staples such as eggs Benny and chicken and waffles (croffles here), but also items such as pasta and pizza. We got the following: - Chicken Croffles - Spicy Shrimp Linguine - Crème Brûlée Latte - Tiramisu Latte The chicken was crispy yet light and I loved the combination of the crunch with the croffles layers. The pasta had a nice spicy kick with bacon, mushroom, alongside the shrimp. The two lattes were very unique and the tiramisu one even included a ladyfinger biscuit. There is ample parking around and while they don't have an online waitlist, you can call in to join the queueing if it gets busy. Came here on a Sunday for an afternoon snack. This place is very nicely decorated with a modern vibe. Staff were friendly and service was great. Ordered the Creamy Mushroom Linguine with Black Truffle Sauce and the French Toast. Flavour was not strong for the linguine. The French toast was really good, especially when eaten on a hot day since there's ice cream on top. Overall pretty good and would definitely come back to try other items on the menu! read more

Place was really cute for brunch. Decent size and didn't have a wait for Sunday morning. Got the taro latte and sesame latte which were both really flavourful. But not sure if they still sell those because we had these on September... . The short ribs Benedict and the chicken pasta were good but nothing really special. First off, I am flabbergasted that this place hasn't gotten more traction online! I randomly stumbled on it looking for a place to eat on a Saturday noon. When we got there, it was quite full - there were a lot of seats but loud and full of energy! We were the first on the waitlist so we were actually seated quite promptly (we didn't know at the time, but you can call ahead and they can hold your spot - I assume this will grow into a more robust waitlist as they become more popular). We ordered the following: - Chicken croffles: If you've never had a "croffle" before, it's a hybrid between a croissant and a waffle. Often, I struggle having chicken waffles due to its heaviness, but the croissant-like texture made the dish much less dense and so much better! The chicken was reminiscent of Taiwanese fried chicken - also juicy and crispy! Comes with a side salad, spicy mayo, and maple syrup. 9/10 - Spicy shrimp linguine: Looks unassuming at first, but I thought there must be a reason why it's recommended. Sauce wasn't very spicy but definitely a slow build. I was impressed at how many shrimp there were too. It could've used a bit more seasoning though - nothing the salt and pepper at the table could not fix! 8/10 - Tiramisu latte: Comes with a light dusting of cocoa powder. Not very sweet but I expected a bit of a "cheese foam" taste (like the mascarpone cheese in tiramisu) which very slightly disappointed me. This was all remedied by a ladyfinger biscuit which was delicious dipped in the coffee though! 8/10 - Creme brulee latte: This has a bit of a burnt top which I thought was unique! Sweet like the real deal too. 9/10 Overall, this place is so impressive - and they just opened not that long ago! It's in a very lowkey location but I think they have huge potential. I definitely want to come back and try some other items on their menu, like the BBQ eel pizza, half and half toast, big breakfast, and beef short ribs eggs benedict. Their drinks are also unique and unlike other cafes I've been to. Very good value for the amount of food you're getting (and a 10% cash discount as well!). Service was attentive and prompt as well! Karkumi cafe is a new and lowkey spot that serves up some really great asian fusion brunch! i got the beef short rib eggs benny and my friend got the smoked duck breast eggs benny. between the two, i really liked the smoked duck breast- the flavours of the duck and the mushrooms together were chefs kiss, and the hollandaise sauce was yummy as well! i also really liked the salad and home style potatoes on the side. most places will just deep fry their potatoes (which my bf will say "this is lazy!") but here they were perfectly roasted or baked and seasoned well. we also got the truffle fries but this is something you can skip on. the inside is very spacious with big windows, which is perfect for groups and taking aesthetic pics of your food. the staff here are also super friendly and our orders came out quickly i'll definitely be back to try out their other dishes (like the truffle pasta) so check out Karkumi cafe if you're in need of a new brunch place PRICES Beef Short Rib Eggs Benny $19 Smoked Duck Breast Eggs Benny $19 Truffle Fries $9 read more
Was looking for a new brunch place to try with a girlfrd and came across Karkumi. Cute medium sized shop located at Gordon Baker/Victoria Park (next/close to Petro). Warning: very limited parking, but luckily there's only 1 restaurant next door and I think they're usually not busy until night time. It could also get quite loud and noisy when the restaurant gets full and you do have to kinda 'yell' at each other a bit. They take reservations, so it's better to call and reserve if you have an idea when you want to go. We ordered a smoked salmon eggs benedict, french toast, a hojicha latte & black sesame latte. My girlfriend said she's had better hojicha latte elsewhere. I should've asked for less sugar in my black sesame latte as it was on the sweet side (no wonder there's an option LOL). Overall food , presentation and taste was good. French toast was a tiny bit burnt, but it wasn't a big problem. I would come again to try other items on their menu. read more
I got the omelette with beef patty. Inside the omellette there is purple rice along with a slight salty sauce. I could not derive what the sauce consist of, it was slightly fatty, slightly salty but not overly salty that you can taste it. The entire meal have a very "healthy" vibe, nothing was too sweet, or too salty.... it is almost... bland? But there is flavor. We also order the chamomile tea, the tea have a very good smell as they put some flower into it, there is also a slight sweet taste. Overall the tea actually the reason why I give this restaurant a 4-star instead of 3. But honestly it may just be because I like the unhealthy food regime more... read more

I was visiting in the area and I found this brunch spot. The portions were fair and food was alright nothing really stood out. I liked that I was able to look at the menu and order through the phone. Service was great. Good spot to dine in with a friend or family member. read more
