    Chicken panini
    Alykhan V.

Overall: 4/5 Food: 4/5 - I got a chicken panini and it was great! It felt like a fresh sandwich, with fresh Italian bread. I'd love to try the hot foods next time. Service: 5/5. Such friendly and kind staff, really cared if we enjoyed our meal or not, and brought a little flavour of Italy to the room. Atmosphere: 3/5 nothing bad and nothing special, just more of a food court vibe, but the store itself was great and had Italian snacks, pastries, etc. Definitely going to come back here to try the warm food :)

Looks can be deceiving! When you arrive, you'll probably be confused because it looks like an office building on the outside. This place is definitely worth the hype. The hostess/ cashier/ waitress remembered our 8 person order! She was super sweet and seemed to love her job. The art on the cappuccinos were adorable and made our day. I love pizza but their pizza was truly delightful. Will probably come back again within a few days because we had such a wonderful experience.

I am delighted that spaces like the Baretto Caffe exists. It could have easily been taken over by a generic coffee chain, but the loyal patrons keep this space alive. Tucked inside the first level of the Alpha laboratories and conference building, the cafe is just off to the side and supports the building's many medical office patients. The main cashier is not all smiles (as some other reviews have interpreted as grumpy) but cares for the many elderly patrons that came through, checking on many of them by name and chatting for a couple minutes. I like that community feel and support. I got a london fog and a muffin, was able to set up my laptop to take a couple meetings and was left largely alone to get some work done for 2 hours. I appreciate that these spaces are a dying out, so would recommend for those looking for a quiet spot to chat or work.

Wow! This place to me is one of the local gems out there. Tucked away in an office building, quite hidden actually. We arrived and smelled the wonderful stuff that's being made. There's also a nice koi pond to ponder for people who enjoy this. Grabbed a table as there's no assigned seating. We then went back to place our order of food. While we were waiting in line, we saw many people from the local office building to others that live nearby... to me that's a "mom and pop" shop. Ordered a panini called "Er Baretto", a house salad and 2 coffees (ginseng cappuccino & latte). The owner who also does serve as barista got some skills as shown in my pictures. The coffee went down smooth. The food was fresh and tasty (light, refreshing and flavourful). On top of that, the owners and employees are a pleasant to interact with. They love to build relationships! Yes, we are coming back!!!

The first thing that'll happen when you arrive (after a tiny struggle to find this place cus it's in the corner where the main entrance is) is that you'll be greeted by the nicest lady everrrrr! You can order at the counter for takeout or have a seat by the windows and she'll come over to take you order. We ordered the alfredo pasta and a pizza. Pizza was a thin flatbread style pizza topped with some cheapo cheese. The alfredo pasta was a good size for the price but really tasted like nothing special. Pasta wasn't homemade and the sauce was pretty average. Service over Food here!

I was so looking forward to trying this place out based on all the Yelp reviews and I'm sad to say, my experience here was not a good one. The cafe is so quaint and located inside a non-descript office building with a cute Koi pond to the side. There were 3 people working during a busy-ish lunch time and it took them 15+ min to just take our order. My daughter's cheese pizza came out first with extra sprinkling of Parmesan cheese which she hates. It would have been nice to know that even a cheese pizza would come showered in Parmesan. My husband's lasagna took 30 min to arrive with the same amount of Parmesan on top. You can see the amount of Parmesan on the photos below. This was perhaps the best dish of the day still. The lasagna had a nice meaty sauce and was definitely a pre-made lasagna that was reheated which made us wonder why it would take 30 min to just reheat and serve a premade lasagna. My fettucine primavera also came doused in too much Parmesan in a tomato sauce that was way too watery and sweet. Let's just say my pasta was beyond disappointing. Based on this experience, I am not sure if I would return here any time soon.

Pretty good for a quick bite if you're in the area. Good amount of food for the price and quick service. There is seating inside and it's usually not too busy on a weekday so plenty of seating. Try the mushroom sausage pasta, lasagna and even a slice of pizza. All good (nothing too special but definitely a good bite to eat). It's inside the medical building and there's parking outside.

Uh I love this place. Super tucked away in a medical office centre, it may be easy to miss. Service is IMPECCABLE, def à 5* restaurant quality. Very attentive, genuine, and happy. Two of the senior staff came to tend to my date and me, and were very glad to answer some questions about the menu. The antipasto was BLISS. Lots of prosciutto to make it worth it, veg were very fresh. I loved the tomatoes, they're so lovely they gotta be organic. The owner came to suggest drizzling olive oil over it and he was right! It was phenomenally better, which I thought was already impossible. I had the prosciutto rosé which was good but def eons away from the antipasto. What I love is that the price point is excellent. It's my third time here and I def will return!

Paninis: chicken and caprese Drinks: vanilla latte, and iced lattes!

This place is such a wholesome ma and pop shop, hidden away in a corner of a medical/office building. The staff is incredibly kind and the food and drinks are 10/10. So glad I came across this place, would totally come back again!

This cafe is tucked away inside a medical building. I was skeptical at first when I went in as I was thinking this is probably just another run-of-the-mill cafe that takes advantage of the fact that people are waiting for their doctors or dentists or kids who are at the doctor or dentist and just need something to eat. Boy was I wrong. The space is elegant and clean. Very spacious - tables are set a fairly good distance apart giving you the feel of privacy. Decor is great and the music is a mixture of classical and, what I assume to be, European pop? Ambience is definitely 5/5. Service was great - the servers were kind, asked if it was our first time and explained their menu. They checked in with us at appropriate frequencies to refill water and ask us how everything was. 5/5. The food - great food for an unassuming cafe. The lasagna was delicious and quite a large portion. The side of greens was fresh and the garlic toast was great. 5/5 for the lasagna. The prosciutto panini was good - nice crispy bread with delicious prosciutto, slices of tomatoes and lettuce inside - basic but still done well. A little sad that it doesn't come with anything on the side but oh well - 4/5. Value - I think this is what brings this place really up. The lasagna was about $10.50, the panini $7.7 (before tax + tip). The lasagna is totally worth it at that price point - really should have just gotten two of those. Overall, quite a hidden spacious cafe that serves delicious food at reasonable prices.

    Pizza

An absolute gem! They offer not only mouthwatering chicken pizza and heavenly cappuccino but also generous portions at reasonable prices. Kids loved the pasta. You'll leave satisfied without breaking the bank. With friendly service and authentic flavors, this place has won my heart. Highly recommended!

For a few years I've heard about this place, drove by this place, promised myself I'd stop by one day....and it finally happened! It's an unassuming little cafe - tucked inside a medical building so it might be easy to miss - there is a sign out front indicating the cafe is in the plaza. I checked in on Yelp and luckily check in offer is a free cap/latte/tea - yeah! I also ordered a slice of the veggie pizza b/c I was a little hungry. They do have a pretty good food menu - from breakfast items, to pizzas to pastas. Seating is in the front - a few tables and off to the side in a little room - which is so nice - fireplace, clean tables, nice art. The veggie pizza (the menu says they use whatever seasonal veggies they have on hand) was pretty good - medium crust, nice and crispy crust and you could see the veggies - mushrooms, peppers. Not like some veggie pizzas where everything is diced up so fine you can't see anything. It came with a little side salad. I ordered the latte and it was nice - smooth and flavourful and they do latte art here! I got the teddy bear :) I could hear the owners/staff greeting a lot of customers - so I assume quite a few people are regulars (assuming they are coming in to the medical offices first). I'll definitely be back!

Fried Egg Bagel and Americano Misto

I knew from previous visits that the food and service were exceptional, but this week reinforced why this has become one of my go-to spots whenever I'm in the city. Max and Trevor behind the bar made the experience seamless from night one. Not only did they remember my name, they recalled my exact order and dietary needs every evening without hesitation. Traveling for work while maintaining a low sodium, heart healthy diet can be challenging, so finding consistency matters. I did not want to chance food remorse or uncertainty with ingredients, and they made sure my burrata and salmon were prepared perfectly each night. By night five, I was basically in a legally recognized relationship with burrata, salmon...and the guys. Sofia, who had provided exceptional service to us on a previous visit months ago, was there as well. I made a point to remind her how memorable and appreciated her hospitality had been, and it was great to see the same professionalism and warmth continue throughout the restaurant team. Five straight nights at the same restaurant says a lot on its own. Consistent food, genuinely attentive staff, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back. I came here with my best friend for a birthday dinner, and I could immediately see why this place has lasted for decades. It's tucked inside an old house on Elm Street, and the whole restaurant has that warm, family-run charm that makes you feel like people have been coming here for years and bringing more people back with them. The tables are definitely close together, so it's a little tight when the restaurant gets busy, but honestly that also adds to the lively energy because there was a steady flow of people coming in all night. Food-wise, there were a few dishes that really stood out. The carpaccio is such a good order, very thinly sliced raw beef, simple and classic, and honestly one of the most reasonably priced versions I've seen. My personal favorite was the prosciutto & melon. It's such a simple dish, but when it's done well, it really hits, and this one did. The real star for me though was the Cozze Marinara. The mussels were plump, tender, and clean, with no sandy bits, and the garlicky tomato sauce was so good that I ended up scooping it up with bread until the plate was basically spotless. We also tried the Vitello Marsala with mushrooms and Penne Arrabbiata, which felt very classic and comforting. If you like traditional Italian flavors, this is the kind of dish that will make you happy. That said, I personally wouldn't recommend mixing the meat and pasta together too much, I think they shine better on their own. Later we also ordered the garlic grilled seafood fettuccine because we were enjoying ourselves so much, and that one was much lighter in flavor. Nice enough, but probably not the best choice if you like richer or bolder pasta dishes. By the end we were completely full and had to leave a few strands of fettuccine behind, which almost never happens for me. Overall, Donatello feels like the kind of neighborhood Italian restaurant people return to for comfort, generous portions, and that warm family run atmosphere. It may not be the most spacious or modern place, but it has heart, and some dishes were genuinely memorable.

There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

It's a dining experience you don't see every day in Toronto. Even the washrooms are memorable, tucked away in the basement in what used to be old jail cells, which adds to the charm and gives the whole place a bit of personality. We went for an early Sunday dinner before a concert at Massey Hall. The restaurant got pretty busy as the evening went on, but it never felt chaotic. The atmosphere is lovely and lively, a great choice for a special night out or a pre-show meal. We started with Calamari alla Griglia with mixed greens, capers, onions, and fresh tomatoes. It was a fresh, bright appetizer with good balance. For mains, my date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare with clams, mussels, calamari, scallop, and tiger shrimp in a tomato sauce. The menu described it as mildly spicy, but it definitely had a noticeable kick. Still, the flavours were really good. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato with braised beef, butter, sage, and parmigiano. It was tasty and comforting, though portion-wise I could have used a few more ravioli. I was still a bit hungry after and honestly double the size would have been perfect for me. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu with espresso-soaked savoiardi, mascarpone, and cocoa. I had an amaro while my date finished with zambuca. A sweet and satisfying way to wrap up the meal. The service was friendly, though drinks came out a bit slower than expected. Terroni's food is tasty, the setting is gorgeous, and it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price. For what you are paying, there is so much higher quality food in the city and I honestly think you can get better bang for buck elsewhere.
