Been meaning to try out this Italian cafe after hearing some great things about it. Finally found it and loved the experience! Staff are very friendly and accommodating to your needs. Expectation wise? Don't expect Michelin star chefs or fancy interiors. It's a very humble setup in a non-traditional office building with staff who go the extra mile to assist customers. My pasta was made on the spot by the same person who took my order and made my espresso. He was a very honest, hard worker who served customers while making the food and drinks from scratch. I watched him meticulously cleaning all the cooking equipment, espresso machine, countertops, surfaces, and cleaning the floors after serving his customers. I was very impressed by his work ethic and dedication. I tried the penne pasta with mushroom and sausage topped with Alfredo sauce. It came with garlic bread and salad. Their number one ordered meal. So good! The penne pasta with rossa sauce (rose sauce) came with chicken and mushrooms. I prefer the Alfredo sauce as it was rich creamy and delicious. However what made my experience a good one was the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff. In today's fast food world, good service warrants a higher star rating! read more

I am delighted that spaces like the Baretto Caffe exists. It could have easily been taken over by a generic coffee chain, but the loyal patrons keep this space alive. Tucked inside the first level of the Alpha laboratories and conference building, the cafe is just off to the side and supports the building's many medical office patients. The main cashier is not all smiles (as some other reviews have interpreted as grumpy) but cares for the many elderly patrons that came through, checking on many of them by name and chatting for a couple minutes. I like that community feel and support. I got a london fog and a muffin, was able to set up my laptop to take a couple meetings and was left largely alone to get some work done for 2 hours. I appreciate that these spaces are a dying out, so would recommend for those looking for a quiet spot to chat or work. read more

Looks can be deceiving! When you arrive, you'll probably be confused because it looks like an office building on the outside. This place is definitely worth the hype. The hostess/ cashier/ waitress remembered our 8 person order! She was super sweet and seemed to love her job. The art on the cappuccinos were adorable and made our day. My wife and I just went to Baretto Caffe for the third time. We are consistently impressed. For a caffe in a medical building, it's seriously impressive. For starters, the cashier/server greets you in a friendly, Italian way. Secondly, the food itself - it's amazing. I've had a few things - the omelettes, the lasagna and the Baretto panini. All of them excellent. And the service itself, also outstanding. You don't expect table service at a cafe, but Baretto has it anyway. After you've finished your meal, the waiter (who might also be the owner, I'm not sure) asks how everything was. You get the sense that it's not just for politeness, but he really wants to know. All in all, Baretto Caffe is a consistent, pleasant, delicious experience through and through. read more

Wow! This place to me is one of the local gems out there. Tucked away in an office building, quite hidden actually. We arrived and smelled the wonderful stuff that's being made. There's also a nice koi pond to ponder for people who enjoy this. Grabbed a table as there's no assigned seating. We then went back to place our order of food. While we were waiting in line, we saw many people from the local office building to others that live nearby... to me that's a "mom and pop" shop. Ordered a panini called "Er Baretto", a house salad and 2 coffees (ginseng cappuccino & latte). The owner who also does serve as barista got some skills as shown in my pictures. The coffee went down smooth. The food was fresh and tasty (light, refreshing and flavourful). On top of that, the owners and employees are a pleasant to interact with. A coffee shop in a medical office building so don't expect any ambience or decor, it's an office cafeteria, but the food was surprisingly good and the service was great. We ordered a pasta Alfredo that my toddler daughter loved and a bagel with cream cheese for my son, but I got the veggie omelette which was great (it was cooked like an egg pancake with a bit of crisp) and our nanny got a caprese panini. The portions were large enough that my daughter made three meals out of her pasta. Every time I went back to the counter to ask for smaller utensils for my kids or ketchup, everyone was friendly and helpful. They also have service to the table. Solid lunch place. The first thing that'll happen when you arrive (after a tiny struggle to find this place cus it's in the corner where the main entrance is) is that you'll be greeted by the nicest lady everrrrr! You can order at the counter for takeout or have a seat by the windows and she'll come over to take you order. We ordered the alfredo pasta and a pizza. Pizza was a thin flatbread style pizza topped with some cheapo cheese. The alfredo pasta was a good size for the price but really tasted like nothing special. I was so looking forward to trying this place out based on all the Yelp reviews and I'm sad to say, my experience here was not a good one. The cafe is so quaint and located inside a non-descript office building with a cute Koi pond to the side. There were 3 people working during a busy-ish lunch time and it took them 15+ min to just take our order. My daughter's cheese pizza came out first with extra sprinkling of Parmesan cheese which she hates. It would have been nice to know that even a cheese pizza would come showered in Parmesan. My husband's lasagna took 30 min to arrive with the same amount of Parmesan on top. You can see the amount of Parmesan on the photos below. This was perhaps the best dish of the day still. The lasagna had a nice meaty sauce and was definitely a pre-made lasagna that was reheated which made us wonder why it would take 30 min to just reheat and serve a premade lasagna. My fettucine primavera also came doused in too much Parmesan in a tomato sauce that was way too watery and sweet. Let's just say my pasta was beyond disappointing. Based on this experience, I am not sure if I would return here any time soon. read more

Uh I love this place. Super tucked away in a medical office centre, it may be easy to miss. Service is IMPECCABLE, def à 5* restaurant quality. Very attentive, genuine, and happy. Two of the senior staff came to tend to my date and me, and were very glad to answer some questions about the menu. The antipasto was BLISS. Lots of prosciutto to make it worth it, veg were very fresh. I loved the tomatoes, they're so lovely they gotta be organic. The owner came to suggest drizzling olive oil over it and he was right! I don't think I've been here since December 2019 so it has been quite a while, but realized I never reviewed this spot! The quality of the food here is great. It's a quaint little cafe and really nice to dine in - the ambience is incredible. It feels like you're somewhere in Europe. I was skeptical at first when I went in as I was thinking this is probably just another run-of-the-mill cafe that takes advantage of the fact that people are waiting for their doctors or dentists or kids who are at the doctor or dentist and just need something to eat. Decor is great and the music is a mixture of classical and, what I assume to be, European pop? Ambience is definitely 5/5. Service was great - the servers were kind, asked if it was our first time and explained their menu. They checked in with us at appropriate frequencies to refill water and ask us how everything was. 5/5. The food - great food for an unassuming cafe. The lasagna was delicious and quite a large portion. The side of greens was fresh and the garlic toast was great. 5/5 for the lasagna. The prosciutto panini was good - nice crispy bread with delicious prosciutto, slices of tomatoes and lettuce inside - basic but still done well. A little sad that it doesn't come with anything on the side but oh well - 4/5. Value - I think this is what brings this place really up. The lasagna was about $10.50, the panini $7.7 (before tax + tip). The lasagna is totally worth it at that price point - really should have just gotten two of those. I checked in on Yelp and luckily check in offer is a free cap/latte/tea - yeah! I also ordered a slice of the veggie pizza b/c I was a little hungry. They do have a pretty good food menu - from breakfast items, to pizzas to pastas. Seating is in the front - a few tables and off to the side in a little room - which is so nice - fireplace, clean tables, nice art. The veggie pizza (the menu says they use whatever seasonal veggies they have on hand) was pretty good - medium crust, nice and crispy crust and you could see the veggies - mushrooms, peppers. Not like some veggie pizzas where everything is diced up so fine you can't see anything. It came with a little side salad. I ordered the latte and it was nice - smooth and flavourful and they do latte art here! I got the teddy bear :) I could hear the owners/staff greeting a lot of customers - so I assume quite a few people are regulars (assuming they are coming in to the medical offices first). This cafe has a unique seating arrangement, outside the cafe is an indoor seating area and in the cafe to the right is an enclosed seating area. I chose to sit outside on the high top table facing the parking lot.Soon Manulea who I later found out is also the owner brought my order also with my order he handed me a chilled glass of water with napkin and all the eats were in proper china.I was already impressed. So this far I'm thinking the service is great and so is the pricing.I soon tried my cappuccino which was absolutely delish.Perefectly made and the temperature was right too loved every sip of it.The croissant was warmed up and tastesgreat- very flaky yet moist.I wish I wasn't in a rush or else I would have definitely tried their food. A hidden gem near my home. Found this place while passing nearby. Who knew, this could be the end of my cafe search! The place serves aromatic Italian coffees, with cute coffee art. The service is exceptionally great. Plus there is a free coffee/tea on the Yelp check-in with an order of ideally, it says with a pizza but the owner is generous enough to give you a free coffee with any other purchase. However, if you are visiting this cafe, you can't just leave without having a bite, so be it a dessert or a snack or a pizza. Everything is just outstanding. The cheesecakes are out of the world. Pizzas are thin, fresh and crisp. The coffee is strong and free from bitterness & aftertaste. It tastes delicious, a truly Italian coffee. I love their Cappuccino and Double espresso macchiato. Amazing Cappuccino. Usually, I am not a coffee drinker, the second I saw that bear design I have to try it! It's so smooth and the temperature is just right. The mini Italian desserts (Sfogliatella Napoletana) was a good size and very tasty with good friendly service. Very reasonably priced Cappuccino $2.99 and the Flavoured Caffe Latte $3.75. Absolutely another one of those hidden gems! I very much recommend going if you're looking for delicious yet affordable cheap eats! I had the prosciutto bruschetta toast. Unlike the bruschetta with the diced tomato, this is more of your open sandwich idea. The bread was garlic bread! Super pleasing. The prosciutto was plentiful and the arugula was a great match. This place is hands down amazing. Came with a friend this Wednesday. As other reviews have stated, it is a bit hard to find the entrance, so use the pictures others have posted for reference! The waitress who tended to us was friendly and accommodating. I would die for the americano served here, please get it, the coffee is amazing, smooth, and light. The caprese salad is amazing, specifically the spices, and the mozzarella, which I believe was freshly made. We piled the salad on top of the bread given to us, and please do yourself a favour and try that, as it is amazing. The freshness of all the ingredients with an extra drizzle of balsamic on top of a warm crusty bread is near godly. My friend's pasta was also spectacular. The pasta was perfectly cooked al denté, and the sauce was just creamy enough to the point where it doesn't overwhelm you. This is one of my favourite newly found gems for great pasta! All the staff are extremely friendly and greet you right as you walk in. What's great about it is that you can't eat for here and pack it to go! Another great thing about Baretto Caffe is that you're able to pick what kind of pasta you'd like to eat (rotini, fettuccini, penne, etc.). I've had their rosé rotini pasta and it's to die for. It tastes very authentic to their culture and its great for its price. I'd like to say that their food was the star of the show, however their service and friendliness of all the staff really made it one of the most enjoyable and pleasant dining experiences I've had, if not the best! The food was amazing as usual, and service was exceptional; they've always been consistent in terms of quality and professionalism. Baretto Caffe used to call L'arte Del Caffe. A change of name but still have the same barista and menu. What gives this place a 4 stars is really the attentive and sincere service. All the staff working here really wants you to have a good time and enjoy their offerings. We ordered a Super Latte Macchiato ($3.49) and Cappuccino ($3.99). I would suggest just stay with the regular size. Since the cup serving the Super size is really narrow, so it is hard for the barista to create any decent latte art. Bruschetta with Prosciutto ($4.50) is a decent choice as a snack. It is really prosciutto on a toast, served like an open face sandwich. With the lacking of independent cafe in that area, Baretto Caffe is worth visiting to support local business. read more

Let me first say that the best eateries can be found in the most unusual places - street tacos from a taco truck, Mexican food from a grocery store, authentic Texas BBQ at a gas station eatery, the best butter chicken at a gas station eatery, authentic Thai food in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant.... You might not believe it but inside the Alpha Corporate Centre Medical Building is a lovely cafe that serves up delicious and artful coffee, freshly squeezed juices, pasta, panini, pizza, antipasto as well as decadent desserts. The challenge is first finding the place. The Alpha Corporate Centre Medical Building is located on the corner of Chipping Road and Don Mills Road (look for the brown brick building with mirrored glass). Then you need to park in the parking lot that's on the side with the stop light and the building's sign (look for the blue sign with a cursive, lower case "a"). You'll want to park in one of the spaces in the middle of the lot. When you get out of the car and face the building you will see a large glass wall where you will be able to see into the cafe. Enter through the door on the left of the cafe then walk past the staircase then turn right. You will see the cafe on your right side. Once you enter the cafe you'll be able to relax because you'll be greeted by friendly staff and or one of the owners. They will patiently guide you through the menu and answer any questions you may have. Anything on the menu can be customized. The syrup flavors periodically change so they will let you know what's available for that day (they have over 10 flavors to choose from). The desserts vary as well from day to day. If you choose to stay and eat, you choose where you want to sit and the staff will come by to take your order. You have a choice between a bright airy dining area that has art work and a fireplace or a dining area with cushioned chairs, a counter with stools and a water wall. My friend and I chose the room with the fireplace because no one was there. Most of the customers were in the other dining room. This didn't make a difference to the staff because they gave us as much attention as the the customers in the other dining room. We both ordered a cafe latte with a shot of hazelnut (They use Torani and Da Vinci sugar free syrups) and we split an apple caramel cheesecake. The coffee was served in large cups and we just sat there admiring the lovely artwork in our cups (please see photos). The coffee was delicious and smooth. For those who like their coffee strong, they do offer double espresso, Double Espresso Macchiato,Caffè Monte Bianco, and a Caffè Marocchino. The apple caramel cheesecake came with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel that was made into the shape of a flower. The cheese cake and the whipped cream were perfect and not overly sweet, a perfect accompaniment to our cafe lattes. We took our time enjoying our drinks and dessert and never felt rushed by the staff. We found out that our server was one of the owners of the cafe, Manuelle. He does the coffee & dessert artwork, mans the register, prepares the food and then serves the food. He was attentive and very gracious. When I asked for the check he told us to relax and enjoy and just pay on the way out. What made me even happier was that Yelp had a check in offer for a free cappuccino! This place was very difficult to find! My friend drove past this place (despite gps telling her we're right in front of the cafe) because it looked so sketchy. It sure is a hidden gem. My friend and I ordered the ginseng latte, coconjt latte and tiramisu. The barista and server here are super nice. They delivered the drinks and dessert to our table with a glass of water (we didn't request for water, but I def needed it). The lattes we got were super cute, it came with designs. Completely hidden from the street as it's located inside a medical building. Thank you for the Yelper who posted the photo of the actual building! Otherwise, I would've missed it. :) Very, very close to a 5*! The only reasons why it missed the mark was that the food took sometime after ordering, 20mins+. And there was a missing ingredient in the Fantasia Salad - corn! I didn't bother mentioning it 'cause we were soo hungry by the time the food arrived. If you're looking for a quick meal, this is not the place for you. Please allow some time to soak in the '80s Italo-Disco music and the owners kind demeanor! Personally, if it were my first time, I'd order a caffeinated drink (good beans), pasta, pizza, panini, & pastry. I'd skip the salads. The Fantasia was good, but it's something that you can make at home. Latté was smooth and very, very good! Pasta with rosé sauce was DELICIOUS! It arrived to the table piping hot and fresh tasting. SO impressed with this cafe. Its look is simple and minimalistic, but the little decor accents (i.e. paintings, candles) make the atmosphere quite welcoming. I started off with a dark chocolate cappuccino, which had adorable latte art and tasted fantastic. They have a ton of other flavour options, and I had a tough time choosing. For lunch, I ordered a chicken panini, all for less than $10. Everything was brought to my table, so you won't have to wait at the counter. I was here working for around 3 hours on a weekday morning, and it never got very busy. The servers were very attentive, and didn't seem to mind that I stayed for so long.
