    Chicken panini
    Alykhan V.

Overall: 4/5 Food: 4/5 - I got a chicken panini and it was great! It felt like a fresh sandwich, with fresh Italian bread. I'd love to try the hot foods next time. Service: 5/5. Such friendly and kind staff, really cared if we enjoyed our meal or not, and brought a little flavour of Italy to the room. Atmosphere: 3/5 nothing bad and nothing special, just more of a food court vibe, but the store itself was great and had Italian snacks, pastries, etc. Definitely going to come back here to try the warm food :)

Looks can be deceiving! When you arrive, you'll probably be confused because it looks like an office building on the outside. This place is definitely worth the hype. The hostess/ cashier/ waitress remembered our 8 person order! She was super sweet and seemed to love her job. The art on the cappuccinos were adorable and made our day. I love pizza but their pizza was truly delightful. Will probably come back again within a few days because we had such a wonderful experience.

I am delighted that spaces like the Baretto Caffe exists. It could have easily been taken over by a generic coffee chain, but the loyal patrons keep this space alive. Tucked inside the first level of the Alpha laboratories and conference building, the cafe is just off to the side and supports the building's many medical office patients. The main cashier is not all smiles (as some other reviews have interpreted as grumpy) but cares for the many elderly patrons that came through, checking on many of them by name and chatting for a couple minutes. I like that community feel and support. I got a london fog and a muffin, was able to set up my laptop to take a couple meetings and was left largely alone to get some work done for 2 hours. I appreciate that these spaces are a dying out, so would recommend for those looking for a quiet spot to chat or work.

Wow! This place to me is one of the local gems out there. Tucked away in an office building, quite hidden actually. We arrived and smelled the wonderful stuff that's being made. There's also a nice koi pond to ponder for people who enjoy this. Grabbed a table as there's no assigned seating. We then went back to place our order of food. While we were waiting in line, we saw many people from the local office building to others that live nearby... to me that's a "mom and pop" shop. Ordered a panini called "Er Baretto", a house salad and 2 coffees (ginseng cappuccino & latte). The owner who also does serve as barista got some skills as shown in my pictures. The coffee went down smooth. The food was fresh and tasty (light, refreshing and flavourful). On top of that, the owners and employees are a pleasant to interact with. They love to build relationships! Yes, we are coming back!!!

The first thing that'll happen when you arrive (after a tiny struggle to find this place cus it's in the corner where the main entrance is) is that you'll be greeted by the nicest lady everrrrr! You can order at the counter for takeout or have a seat by the windows and she'll come over to take you order. We ordered the alfredo pasta and a pizza. Pizza was a thin flatbread style pizza topped with some cheapo cheese. The alfredo pasta was a good size for the price but really tasted like nothing special. Pasta wasn't homemade and the sauce was pretty average. Service over Food here!

I was so looking forward to trying this place out based on all the Yelp reviews and I'm sad to say, my experience here was not a good one. The cafe is so quaint and located inside a non-descript office building with a cute Koi pond to the side. There were 3 people working during a busy-ish lunch time and it took them 15+ min to just take our order. My daughter's cheese pizza came out first with extra sprinkling of Parmesan cheese which she hates. It would have been nice to know that even a cheese pizza would come showered in Parmesan. My husband's lasagna took 30 min to arrive with the same amount of Parmesan on top. You can see the amount of Parmesan on the photos below. This was perhaps the best dish of the day still. The lasagna had a nice meaty sauce and was definitely a pre-made lasagna that was reheated which made us wonder why it would take 30 min to just reheat and serve a premade lasagna. My fettucine primavera also came doused in too much Parmesan in a tomato sauce that was way too watery and sweet. Let's just say my pasta was beyond disappointing. Based on this experience, I am not sure if I would return here any time soon.

Pretty good for a quick bite if you're in the area. Good amount of food for the price and quick service. There is seating inside and it's usually not too busy on a weekday so plenty of seating. Try the mushroom sausage pasta, lasagna and even a slice of pizza. All good (nothing too special but definitely a good bite to eat). It's inside the medical building and there's parking outside.

Uh I love this place. Super tucked away in a medical office centre, it may be easy to miss. Service is IMPECCABLE, def à 5* restaurant quality. Very attentive, genuine, and happy. Two of the senior staff came to tend to my date and me, and were very glad to answer some questions about the menu. The antipasto was BLISS. Lots of prosciutto to make it worth it, veg were very fresh. I loved the tomatoes, they're so lovely they gotta be organic. The owner came to suggest drizzling olive oil over it and he was right! It was phenomenally better, which I thought was already impossible. I had the prosciutto rosé which was good but def eons away from the antipasto. What I love is that the price point is excellent. It's my third time here and I def will return!

Paninis: chicken and caprese Drinks: vanilla latte, and iced lattes!

This place is such a wholesome ma and pop shop, hidden away in a corner of a medical/office building. The staff is incredibly kind and the food and drinks are 10/10. So glad I came across this place, would totally come back again!

This cafe is tucked away inside a medical building. I was skeptical at first when I went in as I was thinking this is probably just another run-of-the-mill cafe that takes advantage of the fact that people are waiting for their doctors or dentists or kids who are at the doctor or dentist and just need something to eat. Boy was I wrong. The space is elegant and clean. Very spacious - tables are set a fairly good distance apart giving you the feel of privacy. Decor is great and the music is a mixture of classical and, what I assume to be, European pop? Ambience is definitely 5/5. Service was great - the servers were kind, asked if it was our first time and explained their menu. They checked in with us at appropriate frequencies to refill water and ask us how everything was. 5/5. The food - great food for an unassuming cafe. The lasagna was delicious and quite a large portion. The side of greens was fresh and the garlic toast was great. 5/5 for the lasagna. The prosciutto panini was good - nice crispy bread with delicious prosciutto, slices of tomatoes and lettuce inside - basic but still done well. A little sad that it doesn't come with anything on the side but oh well - 4/5. Value - I think this is what brings this place really up. The lasagna was about $10.50, the panini $7.7 (before tax + tip). The lasagna is totally worth it at that price point - really should have just gotten two of those. Overall, quite a hidden spacious cafe that serves delicious food at reasonable prices.

    Pizza

An absolute gem! They offer not only mouthwatering chicken pizza and heavenly cappuccino but also generous portions at reasonable prices. Kids loved the pasta. You'll leave satisfied without breaking the bank. With friendly service and authentic flavors, this place has won my heart. Highly recommended!

For a few years I've heard about this place, drove by this place, promised myself I'd stop by one day....and it finally happened! It's an unassuming little cafe - tucked inside a medical building so it might be easy to miss - there is a sign out front indicating the cafe is in the plaza. I checked in on Yelp and luckily check in offer is a free cap/latte/tea - yeah! I also ordered a slice of the veggie pizza b/c I was a little hungry. They do have a pretty good food menu - from breakfast items, to pizzas to pastas. Seating is in the front - a few tables and off to the side in a little room - which is so nice - fireplace, clean tables, nice art. The veggie pizza (the menu says they use whatever seasonal veggies they have on hand) was pretty good - medium crust, nice and crispy crust and you could see the veggies - mushrooms, peppers. Not like some veggie pizzas where everything is diced up so fine you can't see anything. It came with a little side salad. I ordered the latte and it was nice - smooth and flavourful and they do latte art here! I got the teddy bear :) I could hear the owners/staff greeting a lot of customers - so I assume quite a few people are regulars (assuming they are coming in to the medical offices first). I'll definitely be back!

Fried Egg Bagel and Americano Misto

Reason is that, while many folks commute using public transit, car owners drive to their destinations on weekends. This is a small, sun-shiny kind of space, with Wifi. The front part, especially, is a good place to bask in the rays. They seem to offer a few food choices for breakfast and lunch, but since I was just looking for a place to hang out for 90 minutes, I was going to be "minimal patron". I thought about another coffee, but decided against it, since I already had double the caffeine I usually consume before noon, I opted for the "cheapest" choice, in the form of a Perrier. Cha-ching and "ouch" and $3.74 later (OK it's CAD, but still), I'm left wondering whether I could have made a better choice: as in, a cookie and that bottle of water I had with me?

The creator/owner, Ella Pang, warmly greeted my mother and I. (She was physically distant and masked.) She carefully let us try every flavour available that day of her infamous Pang's Bean Cakes! But she sells more than cakes (think of moon cakes - dense little cakes made of all sorts of bean), in fact she also makes fresh bean milk daily (think soy milk - but made with different beans: chickpea, red bean and black bean). So we left with a LOT more than expected! Highly recommend the cakes as gift items for older, Asian relatives who are more health conscious or prefer less sweet or savoury desserts. ATMOSPHERE: A cute little coffee shop, located in a strip plaza with ample parking. A bright and open space - too bad you can't dine in right now... Currently only offering take out. And a limited time offer of FREE delivery on orders over $50 - for as far as Mississauga. SERVICE: Fantastic! Ella is super hospitable. Eager to show all her best products. She's very proud of her work, and happy to share. Converse in Mandarin, some Cantonese and English. PRICE: Up to $6 for specialty drinks. Bean cakes start at $9.99 for 6 pieces in a box. The better flavours are $11.99 per box. The gift boxes start from $22.99 - super affordable! FOOD: The shop is best known for their varied bean products. All are healthy, and low in sugar. The flavours are asian - Ella is Chinese and a lot of the items are flavours she grew up with. My mum LOVES the bean cakes, because they are not too sweet and fit her asian palette well also. Our faves include the Black Ginger Turtle Bean Cake, and the Green Pea Cake with Adzuki (aka red bean) Filling! The tastes carry the genuine flavours of the ingredients, and cakes pair very well with tea. We also love their bean milk. Get a cold jug to enjoy for a week or two, or better yet - grab a hot cup to go! So good for winter months. Savoury like soy milk, and filling. Another great item on the menu for cold weather? The veggie soup! PACKED with various vegetables, it's a hearty soup guaranteed to warm and fill you up. In hot weather, grab the refreshing Mojito Slush (virgin) made with fresh basil leaves, lime and club soda. PS. Bean cakes need refrigeration - so if you're traveling far, pack a cooler!

The lotus has that nice cookie flavor and crunch while the Dubai chocolate with pistachio offers that chocolate and nutty flavor. I prefer the latter but both are good. A recent Yelp elite event introduced me to Kanafani Sweets. I returned for its Dubai chocolate bars. Kanafani Sweets is located in a plaza on the northeast corner of Warden Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East. It's in the same plaza as the Potato Bar. I had no problem finding parking. I pulled into a parking spot in front of the store and walked in. The order pickup area was in front of me. I read the signs and the order area was a few steps deeper into the store. I had the nicest woman who cheerfully said hi. She was helpful with answering my question and offering suggestions. She showed me the qashtuta, which was milk cake. She let me know that I could either get a solid flavour, such as Biscoff, or do three different flavours, such as Biscoff, hazelnut, and Dubai chocolate. Wow! My Yelp experience consisted of having knafeh, which I absolutely love. She said that it could be made soft or crispy. I love crispy. She also let me know that I could get either pistachio or chocolate sauce on the side. I went with the former. For the drink, she shared what was popular. The iced tiramisu latte was one of them. I love tiramisu. I was down checking out an iced drink version. I got a buzzer for my order. The knafeh takes roughly ten minutes to make. I sat in a comfy chair near the order area. It was nice to relax after driving for over an hour to get here. I used the washroom. There's an individual stall for women. It was clean, cheerful, and pleasant. I used it again just before I left to run a few errands before heading home. I watched the buzzer light up. I headed to the pickup area. The nice woman had my order ready. She let me know that I got a brownie bite on the house. It was so generous! I thanked her and headed to my table to chow down. The iced tiramisu latte was exceptional. I got a lady finger that I could dip into my drink. The espresso was a good strength with the cocoa. It had milk. You can substitute the espresso for decaf, and the milk for a dairy-free or lactose-free substitute. I didn't bother. It was nicely iced and a good size to wash down everything that I ate. I loved the complimentary brownie bite. The brownie core was delicious. The crispy exterior provided a nice contrast. It was enjoyable to devour! I loved the knafeh. It already had syrup on it. I got syrup on the side, as well as pistachio sauce. I poured the pistachio sauce over the knafeh. So good! The knafeh had cheese inside. It was stretchy and hot. Over time, the cheese lost its stretchy factor as it cooled. It was yummy with the right balance of crispiness and chopped pistachios with the pistachio sauce. The syrup made the knafeh slightly sweet. The sweetness was perfect for my liking. The knafeh was excellent. I have been trying to find a decent place that makes Dubai chocolate bars. Before visiting this store, most places made their bars on their own, but they were too soft. It was as if I looked at the bar and it melted on its own out of fear. I bought a bar of Dubai chocolate Lotus to enjoy. I paid with a credit card and included a tip because staff are so helpful and friendly. This bar was excellent. The crispy filling had Lotus cookie spread in it. The milk chocolate held everything together. I was impressed. I will be back to get the regular bar next. It's such a gem of a Palestinian dessert place. I'll be back. (439)
